UPDATE: MY REVIEW IS NOW UP

After reading a bunch of mixed opinions on Need For Speed Shift I decided to try out the new NFS for myself. After all, I'm a fan of the series and enjoy a good high-speed race. I've tended to steer clear of the recent NFS titles mainly because I believe they have strayed too far from what makes NFS great. Sure they had some interesting features, but where they always fell flat on their ass was the quality of the driving experience. The last decent NFS for me were the two Underground titles which gave a refreshing 'Street' perspective and made for some fun street racing.
Shift seems to have shaken off those lingering cobwebs and turned back to what made the series so enjoyable - driving the most luxurious and desirable cars at breakneck speeds around the most scenic tracks in the world.
I'll have my review up shortly

NOTE: These aren't my screenshots. They were posted on the EA forums by a guy with a triple-monitor setup *drool*

I used to think stop-animation videos of Lego people were lame. Then I came across the most amazing video ever, which just happened to be a tribute to games. Click the picture to START

Even though 3D Realms have seemingly kicked the bucket...they still hand out screenshots??
In other news. A sweet looking Sci Fi movie called District 9 is coming soon. Instead of aliens invading and making life hard for wannabe heroes, this movie flips that idea on its head and depicts aliens as refugees living the slums of South Africa. I can't wait to see what it's like

YES!!
This is what I've been hoping for. Sacha Cohen is bringing his gay Austrian character, Bruno, to the big screen.

PS: Yes I know I've been slack with the blogginating, but I'll get around to it more often soon enough

EDIT: Click the picture for the trailer.

...in other news. DSi. SRSLY??
I can't wait to play Sin & Punishment 2. I thoroughly enjoyed the first, ignoring the shoddy acting of course. Treasure FTW.

Ever come across something so memorable that your childhood memories hits you with the force of a bulldozer on meth?
I've been having that feeling lately.
Back in the 90's there was a little known anime just after Aerobics Oz Style - yeah you know it, that first slot of the legendary Cheez TV - called Teknoman. This show blew my mind every time I watched it. In my opinion it was one of the best animes I have ever watched surpassing the likes of Macross and Neon Genesis.
I'll let the badass intro speak for itself.
Anyway, I recently discovered that this series has been released on DVD. So I went straight to Ebay - like that creepy friend you don't want to hang around for some unexplained reason - and bought the first copy I could find
.Happy days.

I've finally managed to drag myself away from this game to post an impression. So yeah, it's ADDICTIVE. And that's not exaggerating. I'm talking first-few-months-of-WoW addictive here.
The greatest thing about Spore for me is the absolutely limitless amount of things you can create. Some people would say that this is what makes Spore uninteresting, and they are right, but it really depends on what you like to play. Once you're through the Cell, Creature, Tribal and Civ stages of development, things get pretty simplistic. The fundamentals of the space game is to gather Spice (the main trading resource), conquer other civilisations either by brute force or economic power, build colonies on new worlds and maintain relations with other species.
The rest is basically a challengs to obtain all of the medals (used to unlock better powers) and achievements in the game. There are some very interesting ones I've noticed including finding the true centre of the milky way, and literally discovering Earth hidden somewhere in the galaxy.
So basically this game is great for just sitting around creating things, finding things and blowing planets up

If you don't like the ambiguity of that $tyle of gameplay then this game isn't for you.- Posted Sep 4, 2008 12:24 pm PT

Last night on TV I watched Enough Rope with Andrew Denton. He was interviewing Matt Harding, the guy off youtube who videoed himself dancing all over the world.
During the interview he mentioned he worked for Pandemic Studios in Brisbane, and he started the dance when he wanted his workmates to hurry up and take a lunch break
If you read the transcript, he actually developed the idea of Destroy All Humans. Small world
Speaking of Pandemic, I often eat at the same cafe in New Farm as some of the staff on their lunch break. I can tell because they are always talking about games

Another Space MMO has popped up on my radar...and it looks spectacular!
Black Prophecy is another SciFi MMO similar to Jumpgate Evolution. For some reason they seem to be lying very low about information on this game, and yet the scheduled release is Q4 2008.
Either this game is 'just another EVE clone' or it will be the direct competition for Jumpgate Evolution. I just hope I can make up my mind by the time these games are released

They both have good qualities about them, however, I guess things are still uncertain about Black Prophecy, given how little information is provided. BUT THE EYE CANDY!! OMFG!!- Posted Jul 30, 2008 8:10 am PT

I've been trying out the Spore Creature Creator today. Even with such a small number of parts to choose from, there is virtually an unlimited amount of combinations to create. My mind asplodes when I try to think what the final release of Spore will be like. The entire world will probably grind to a halt while absorbed in creating something for the Sporepedia.
*EDIT* Link for those who don't have it yet
Here are the creatures I've made so far:
