I had received the emblem for watching the Microsoft and Nintendo press conferences, I had to be at work during the Sony one so I missed out on that one. I had also watched all 3 days of the GS Live show events, but until the other day I had only received the silver emblem. I was okay with it as I thought since I didn't ask any questions during the show maybe I didn't then qualify for the coveted gold emblem. So you can imagine how happy I was to login the other day and see that I had indeed been upgraded to the gold live emblem. Thanks GS or Don or whoever it was that saw that I had indeed qualified for the gold and boosted me up.![]()
On a side note I will be going to Chicago next week. I shall miss GS while I am gone, but hope to return with at least one great story. Now I am off... to my local technology mega-mart to see if they have any DS Lites for me to buy for the trip. See you guys when I return. ![]()
Well another E3 has come and gone and while GS will still have some of their own coverage, the big announcements have passed so...what is left after the dust has finally settled?
-Microsoft went first and came out of the gate running at full speed. If you are a gold xbl member and subscribe anything above the minimum package on Netflix you can now stream movies on xbl. There is another catch in that there are only going to be 10,000 titles available out of the 100,000 titles that you can get via the postal service. The big plus here is that your friends can watch movies with you over xbl. This brings a whole new meaning to the term "friends with benefits",
. Just kidding.![]()
-Microsoft also announced a price cut of $50 on the 20 gig system which they are stopping production on; so grab them while they last cause there aren't going to be anymore made.
-Microsoft also had one other tiny little announcement....Final Fantasy XIII will not be PS3 exclusive and fanboys riot.......now. Seriously, we are in an age where money is the bottom dollar and not Square Enix being loyal to Sony. Moving on.
-Nintendo followed....
-And then it was Sony who had the stage....okay seriously Nintendo didn't have much to say this year. No surprise Legend of Zelda trailers or a new teleporting attachment for the Wii. They did spend some time reminding everyone that there have been more DS systems sold then any other handheld on the market. Oh and they had the "Flying Tomato" himself at the show to tell us all about his new game called Shaun White's Snowboarding. I wonder if he collaborated with Tony Hawk while trying to come up with a title. But clearly we were all tuning in to hear from Microsoft and Sony so don't feel bad Nintendo I'm sure your light will keep on shining.
-Sony came out and of course tried to up Microsoft by allowing for movie streaming online as well, but by this point this was really old news anyway. There are going to be some new PSP packages available soon and who can't wait to start earning some of those PS3 trophies? I know I can't.
I think it is pretty evident that Microsoft sort of stole the show and had the most to say when you look at the news that came out of the 3 press conferences. I guess now all we can do is look forward to next year....you just gotta love how the world of technology recycles itself almost daily. Hope you enjoyed my recap even though I bet no one reads this I was glad to make the post.
Yes I think we have all heard right. They will be releasing Chrono Trigger for the DS some time later this year. Right on time for Christmas no doubt. I had been on the fence about getting a DS just because I have a PSP and don't really play it all that much. I am wondering if it will also be released for the PSP as well. That would make sense considering Chrono Cross was released for the PSX, but these days you never know how developer/platformer alliances are going to go. All things aside this could be one of the biggest announcements of this year...if not THE biggest.
Now the only question left to be asked is.....which color should I get![]()
First off...*SPOILER ALERT* If you have not seen the Lost season finale you might not want to read this post.
I was really impressed with myself when while watching the Lost season finale I was able to make a conclusion about a situation some of the characters were in based on a part of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
Continued below...
At one point during the finale some of the characters were put into the situation of having to figure out how to diffuse a bomb. When Michael, who is one of the characters, announced that he had a plan and hoped there was "enough of it" I knew exactly what he was going to do. If you have played MGS2 then you should have figured this one out already....freeze it with liquid nitrogen. While playing as Raiden when you are about the fight the bomb tech known as "Fat Man" you have to diffuse C4 charges that have been placed in various locations in the Shell. You are given a cartridge of liquid nitrogen to use to freeze the battery detonators for the charges. Lost took a more realistic approach in that the nitrogen was only a temporary fix while they tried to really diffuse the bomb. While in MGS2 once you have them frozen they are permanently discharged, the melting part was not a factor in the game. I think it is always a good thing when you can learn something from a video game. Now as to if that would actually work in real life I am not sure, but I know it would be the first thing I would think of...I would just need to make sure to always have some liquid nitrogen on hand.
