Nintendo DSi!!!! April 5th FINALLY CAME!
My DSi impression:
DSi Menu - A new twist to the menu, just like the Wii's except in a straight line. Theres not too much too it. You start off with a Settings, Game Cartridge, Photo, Music and DSiWare logo on the menu. For every new application you download takes up another block on the menu which you can re-arrange to your liking with the stylus(all like the Wii). Probably the best improvement is that you can tap the power button and skip right to the menu from anywhere.
DSi Camera - Although the camera is only 0.3, which accounts for small pictures, the quality is great. Its on par with the best of my last three cell phones... well better. Taking pictures is "a snap" (haha...hah) with the DSi. Just click the right or left trigger on the menu to instantly take a photo, or tap the "DSi Photo" icon application. Each picture you take for each day will be displayed on the calender and everytime you turn your DSi on, a new header image(randomly picked from your photos stored) will be displayed on the top screen. Then we have picture editing which is great but sometimes difficult to use. For one third of the editing features, you have to use them while taking a picture. So if you wanna add a mario hat and moustache, you can't just edit onto an already staored or taken image.
Then we have games like WarioWare that utilize the cameras functions. Its plain fun but hard to use unless you're in the perfect settings or location. A lit room with a verydifferent colour in the background than your skin shade works magic. Theres alot of fun to be had on the camera function of the DSi and i'm sure we'll see more in the future with DSi updates.
DSi Sound - The music application, limited but in its own way, worthy to compete against most MP3's and kick their butt. It only uses AAC format for specific reasons. The music features like "Instrument" where the voice is basically stripped from the audio so you can practice guitar solos or drum lines is easiest to do with AAC format, along with other features. You can also make the song sound like its playing from a NES game with the 8-bit feature or make it echo like you're in a huge concert hall. Then you've got a selection of drums, clapping or even mario jumping sounds with the coins "dling!" by cycling through the options for sounds and using the L and R shoulder buttons to perform them. Then we have a little parrot perched on the screen ready to give you any advice if you ask nicely(as in tap him with a stylus).
The voice recording is also fun for a period of time. You can try to say stuff and play it backwards to make subliminal messages or play them while a song is playing to sinc in your voice with an audo file.
DSiWare - There really isn't that much to it. 1000 free points, a free web browser, some mini games which my favorites are Wario Ware: Snapped, Master of Illusions(parts taken from the actual DS game) and Brain Age: Math. Those, in my opinion are the only notable ones. Hopefully we're looking at many new titles at the shop in the near future(like the DSi FlipBook i'm dying to try, but is only released in Japan).
So thats about everything you need to know about the new DSi features(along with the 14mb ram, 133Mhz ram and DSi exclusive and enhanced cartridges coming soon). So i'll see you all next time.- Posted Apr 6, 2009 1:46 pm PT

2009... where are the games?
2009 is BREAKING OUT in a whole whack of games. 2008 didn't have too many great releases but when 2007 was so great, it wasn't too much of a dissapointment. I don't have too much to say and all.
EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THE NINTENDO DSi IS COMING OUT!!! Holy COW this is big news.
This would so be good for online gaming... and skype(without finding a compatible camera).
Too bad we have about half a year to go. I'll be waiting.
Meanwhile... I got a new PSP 3000. This thing is pretty amazing. Buuut... its collected a pile of dust since Christmas.
IT NEEDS MORE GAMES! And not the garbage ones. All the decent games have been beaten... ages ago.
Hurry up Sony, I never relied on you before because of this(except for the PS2, which I personally think didn't need an update considering its greatness).- Posted Feb 9, 2009 12:50 pm PT
