    Oh boy!!

It is the end of the year and I'm finally getting a chance to get back to my gaming roots. Although I can't say that since I dropped off the map in July I have not played at all because it would be a straight up lie. One thing is for certain. There has not been anything out there worth my attention, still waiting on Too Human and something better.

PC and Gears of War...arrgg yes arrgg... What can I say I played it and again loved it as everything is prettier than the Xbox360 version, but other than this... Nothing new and those extra story chapters do nothing for me. Over all for you PC addicts it's worth buying it. Although the one thing I'm truly upset about is the fact that I cannot play on Xbox Live with none of my 360 buddies, yes you can only play with PC players only; Tried as I might I will never be able too unless they release a patch for it, let's hope they do because it would be really interesting to see these PC boys tear some console gamers buddhole with some precision head shots.

Well enough of my rants, let's hope the new year brings better games to us all. Because I truly wish to keep writing this garbage, hell I can't even bare it. Oh the one thing I got to say is to everyone "Get a Wii" this thing is great, specially if your overweight great cardio workout.

    What an experience!

As of this past Friday I'm now a Ubuntu/Linux convert, yes I know this has nothing to do with gaming but trust me when I tell you if you are using a windows pc and paid for your OS then this concerns you.  I'm an IT Consultant/Developer and up until last Friday I was sold on Microsoft's BS, well that changed very quickly when my brother brought to my attention that there was a new version of Linux called Ubuntu (Humanity to others) and that I should try it. So I did, I grabbed an old PC with 512MB Ram, a 1GHZ processor and 30GB HD and installed the download version (Ubuntu 7.04-Fiesty Fawn) . I have to say I was blown away on how fast the damn thing installed and how fast it started. Immediately it told me there were updates to be installed and it guided me through the process 5 minutes later all the updates were installed without a hiccup or a single reboot (unlike Win crap).

I took this sucker for a spin and come to find out it works just like Windows, it also brings all the software you pay for when you buy a Windows OS. One great example is Microsoft Office; Ubuntu has the equivalent of that which is called Open Office 2.0 which is also a free download and is compatible with all the MS Office programs wow who knew! Also if you are a programmer/web developer and when I say this I mean a real developer not using Visual Studio or nothing like that, this baby rocks you get all kinds of free development tools and databases which are a snap to install you simply go to Add/Remove select which apps you want to install from a list and you are done. So it installs multiple apps at once with no reboot. Oh and the best part of it is that this baby is truly plug and play, I attached my Plextor DVD/RW writer and it detected the damn thing with no problem in fact it did not even gave a notice it just worked, I opened up my devices an it was there ready to work.

So to summarize, Windows truly sucks and there is more out there than most of us care to know and damn it all of it for free! I say if you are starting a business and you are doing it on a budget this is the way to go; they even have a Server version. This OS has everything from productivity to publishing and graphics software. So give a shot it's worth not paying for it, especially when you shell out $159 bucks for Vista upgrade like me (what an idiot). Also you should read this article on this new OS.

What is your take on next gen gaming?

Oops! Calling all PS3 fan boys and casual gamers alike. With the new PS3 titles on the horizon next-gen could not be more clearly define, lots of crisp pretty graphics huge amount of enemies on the screens at once and yes a great deal of loading time.

But PS3 fan boys don't worry because a 360 will still be there when you guys are ready to "jump in". Great example of what I mean is Lair, the games has great CG cut scenes, so none of it is done with the in game engine. There are lots of enemies on the screen but the game looks a lot like a PS2 game in terms of graphics, may be a bit more polished but pretty close to a PS2 game. The textures on the dragons don't look that great, but of course a PS3 fan boy won't tell you that. The developer sacrificed the pretty part of the game and opted for more enemies on the screen and huge landscapes which I believe is better, but the load times will kill you. Too Human, Lair and Chrome Wii (http://media.games.ign.com/articles/693/693580/vid_1962018.html).

Now here is a game that has been literally years in the making and it will finally see the light of day on August 6 2007. Yes you guess it, TOO HUMAN. This game is truly next-gen, not only are there no load times but the transition from the in game engine cut scenes to the actually game play is so smooth you can't even tell that is happen. Also the graphics are so crisp and clear that you can't tell the difference between a cut scene and actual game play other than the fact that the camera zooms out to a 3rd person perspective. Don't believe me check out the article on IGN (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/782/782104p1.html).

Also Too Human is not just an action game but an RPG/Action game which you can customize your character and level up to your hearts contends. Now not to take away anything from the PS3 but I would like to see the developers port this baby over to the PS3 and see how it performs, since it is not a "Only on Xbox" title. I can clearly see them having huge frame issues and crappy load times oh what the hell they won't be able to do it(not a fact just a biased opinion hah). Any ways take a look at the articles for both Lair (PS3) and Too Human (360) on IGN.com. Also let everyone know what's your take on the next-gen thing? Are we there yet or do we still have a long way to go?
