So, I've been playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl for a while now, and I think it's time to post my Top 5 characters list.
5. Pokemon Trainer -
Why I play with him: He's clearly the character with the most versatility. Would you like a Pokemon with speed? Go with Squirtle! Time to switch to a Pokemon with more strength? Go with Charizard! Want something right in the middle? Go with Ivysaur! This ability to switch between strength and speed
in the middle of battle certainly puts this character in my Top 5.
Why you probably won't see me play with him: He's great and all, but I've got four greater and better characters that I'll play with more often, but if you somehow manage to beat all four of them, get ready for a 3-on-1.
4. Lucario -
Why I play with him: He's a unique character. The more damage he receieves, the more damage he gives. You and your opponent know that even though he may be on the ropes, that certainly does not mean he's done for. In fact, it makes him only that much stronger. Combine his strength with a wicked counter, and you've got a very strong character.
Why you probably won't see me play with him: I tend to use Lucario only as a "suprise character". If my other characters get beat, I'll come with Lucario in an attempt to throw you off balance, and you know, it tends to work.
3. Mr. Game and Watch -
Why I play with him: He's evil. His attacks are down right annoying, strong and surprising. His moves are powerful, whether it be his firestick, which kills at 60%, on a full charge, his "Judge" special move, which can hit with a "9", and launch you as if being hit by a homerun bat, or his up-smash, a strong headbutt that can send up flying at 70%. Using all his moves in just the right combos, Mr. Game and Watch can be a deadly opponent.
Why you probably won't see me play with him: You'll see me playing with him more often that not, but still, he does very poorly with characters that are fast, or have range. And it's because of this that Mr. Game and Watch is being held back.
2. Marth -
Why I play with him: He's a great character, he's got speed, strength and a sword. Marth has a built in combo, which is very handy in battle, not to mention he's got the best counter in the game. His sword is possibly one of the best swords in the game, if you hit your opponent at the tip of the sword, your opponent will receive more damage. Finally, when I use Marth, you'll need to be prepared for the endless combos Marth comes with, and he's very quick so be warned.
Why you probably won't see me play with him: Chances are, you'll always see me playing with Marth, he's too good to not use. However, any character with range or are extremely fast, tend to have an advantage over Marth, especially if that character is Meta Knight.
1. R.O.B. -
Why I play with him: He's got everything. He's got ranged attacks, powerful physical attacks, a semi-counter, the best recovery, a strong spike, and a great backthrow. His standard aerial move is top-notch, it's a full 360 fire attack, and if you combine that with R.O.B.'s near limitless aerial time, you've got a character that can pull off combos like nothing. If you're unfortunate enough to stay in the air too long, R.O.B. will have no problem finishing you off. Even if on the ground, you've got little chance, R.O.B.'s attacks are quick and will tend to give you a lot of damage faster than you can say, "What the heck?". And of course after enough damage, you'll be in the air anyway, where once again, R.O.B will just kill you.
Why you probably won't see me play with him: There are one or two characters that give R.O.B. a tough time, but, I'm not telling you which those are. If I come across a person that can beat him, I'll tend to switch to another character, but otherwise, I'm coming at you with R.O.B.
