Ten things learned while playing the Call of Duty series online
Just wrote this because I thought it would be fun so feel free to comment and post.
1. You can't run from bullets.
I'll admit I'm a sucker for this tactic as well, but it's just so funny to see other people do it as well. You peek around a corner and run into somebody and turn and run. Next thing you know you're seeing a kill cam. I really don't know why I do it, sure it does work at times, run away turn another corner, wait and then knife them but 8 times out of 10 you're gonna get killed.
2. Camping is o.k. in certain areas and maps.
Btw, I don't camp and in all reality shouldn't be defending it. Now I know what a lot of you are thinking, "Wtf?! Camp1ng is for loz3rs!!!1!" But in if done correctly it's actually more or less considered setting an ambush or taking an advantageous position. Even if they're annoying and don't have any real skill. This brings me to my next point.
3. People are more annoying than ever.
I'm sorry but if you find running round with double shotguns, you're annoying. If you narrate everything you're doing, excluding helping out your team, i.e. "Hmmmm, ok I'm gonna change out Marathon for Sleight of Hand, might be risky though," you're annoying. If you have you're T.V. turned up so that everything echoes, you're annoying. Anyone who karaoke's the music that they're listening to, you're especially annoying. List goes on but then this article would be bout 27 pages.
4. Teamwork, as always is the best strategy.
Some might strongly disagree with this point but everyone is free to there own opinion. But I find that teamwork is far better to being a loner. Especially when playing with team members that actually talk to you and just yell into the headset crying bout a cheap death.
5. Even if you're at 3-14 kill-death ratio it's best to finish the match.
I know most people probably know this already but the match bonus that you earn at the end of the match is lost if you quit midway. I've done this many times knowing this fact, but frustration just gets the best of people sometimes. But if you think bout it, how many times have you done this yourself? Then think bout all the XP that you gave up, I'd probably be at least 5 levels ahead of what I'm at now if I would've just stuck it out for the last 4 minutes.
6. Able to talk to some interesting people.
Now how many times can you say you've had an interesting conversation with someone from someone from England? Or Canada? I can say only once, and MW2 gave me that experience. It's actually pretty cool to see what other people think bout what's going on in the world and see it from their points of view.
7. Just because someone is on their 3rd level of prestige doesn't necessarily make them good.
So when I first started playing I had the great idea of following round this one guy who was on his 2nd prestige level, thought that we could work as a team. Long story short he finished last. Someone that has totally no coordination and is terrible at this game could be on there 5th prestige, all they need is patience and never quit a match, even if they're 1-22.
8. "Beware the fury of a patient man"-John Dryden, Absolam and Achitophel, 1680
This quote is so true. I'm sure not everyone just picked up the controller and started getting 10 plus killstreaks right off the bat. This game takes a tremendous amount of patience to play. You might go 18-3 one match and turn around and pull out 7-11 the next, but that doesn't mean you give up. You keep playing till you find something that works for you. Whether you snipe, run in headstrong shooting everything that moves, or the guy that checks his back every 5 steps, just be patient and stay at it.
9. It never gets old to have your girlfriend talk on the headset while you play and kick butt.
I seriously think it's one of the funniest things to do. One time she got in argument with some british dude and he was calling her wanker and something else. All I know was that he wasn't too happy that I had 22-9 ratio and bout 10 of those kills were him.
10. Sometimes it's just best to turn it off and take a break.
Don't think I really need to explain this one, but it's true.
