The last time I did this kind of update was months ago, that just tells you I havent been gaming much, if at all. The queue has gotten longer, and Ive only knocked one game off, RE6. Heres the list of completed games, a link to the reviews if you want to partake.

  • Alan Wake
  • Alan Wake: The Signal
  • Deus Ex Human Revolution: The Missing Link
  • Darksiders
  • Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
  • Prototype 2
  • Max Payne 3
  • Assassin's Creed Revelations
  • Silent Hill Origins
  • Mass Effect
  • The 3rd Birthday
  • Spec Ops: The Line
  • God of War: Ghost of Sparta
  • Bioshock
  • Dante's Inferno
  • Resident Evil 6

I gave RE6 a 5.5, for those of you that cant be bothered with pressing a link. I wont rehash the comments I made there, suffice it to say, it could have been so much better, and there were so many things that became frustrating as it compounded from campaign to campaign. I cant say avoid it, it was a decent action game, the set pieces were spectacular, but it was hardly a game by our definition. I felt like I was intruding on the narrative.

  • Fallout 3
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Pack
  • Dead Space
  • Dead Space 2
  • Uncharted
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Game of the Year Edition

  • Mass Effect 2
  • Demon's Souls
  • Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

  • Need for Speed: The Run
  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
  • Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop 3D
  • Darksiders 2

  • Super Mario 2 (3DS)
  • Borderlands 2
  • Dishonoured
  • Rocksmith
  • AssassinsCreed 3
  • Phineus and Ferb
  • Dead Space Ignition
  • NHL 11

The question I ask every time I post this, what should I play next? I am staring at AC3 and I do want to play it, but I need to knock out Dead Space and Bioshock soon too, Castlevania not long after that. Those are the main sequels I have to deal with. Comments? Thoughts? Cookies? Who am I kidding, Ive lost 20 pounds since May, I cant have sweets!!

That's your 2012 completed list? Yikes, looks like it might be bigger than mine :P I too cringe at my to do list in gaming... but eh... I'll get to it I swear ;) I love your taste in games btw :D About to read your RE6 review.

@hush404 the top list is completed, the bottom is the queue...the endless, endless queue...thanks!

slightly dispointed in RE6 because of poor control, bad weapon inventory, bad camera and too fast gameplay but still interesting to me that game has very great set piece, layout, level design, composition of the light and great story.

@duniacz it really was a mixed bag - some parts were great, others could have been greatly improved.  I enjoyed playing it, but I'm glad it's done and I won't be going back to it ;)

Nice RE6 review, recommended!  I'm playing through that game now and I'm finding it harder and harder to force myself to pick up and play.  And you're right in that this game isn't a horror game.  This series has pretty much turned into an action based series now which was kind of a letdown.

@Garrison_Ford thank you!  I had trouble in the early stages, but flew through most of it once I got going.  It wasn't 'hard' by any means!  I feel like RE really lost a good share of the market by going away from what got them their popularity!

@matastig ah, thanks!  you might be the only one!  I practically got flamed for my score on Dante's Inferno!

I think im the only one who really enjoyed RE6 XD I would go with AC3...if you rush through it its not very long, but if you want to take your time doing everything it becomes very time consuming.

@QOSMSTR I enjoyed RE6, but I think they didn't really think through the changes and story they were making - it just didn't flow as well as it could have.  I won't say I expected more, but as the game progressed, it just seemed hollow.  I did pop in AC3.

Dragon age origins is my favorite current gen game.

If you want a structure that allows for greater emergent narrative through multivarious exploratory gameplay, go with Dishono[u]red.

@s_h_a_d_o I'd Irish up that coffee if I were you :)  I thought about pulling that one out, but AC3 dazzled me with its fancy box :)

I meant 'multifarious'

Demon's Souls is my favorite game on the list but prepare to spend a lot of time on it.

@pcty that game terrifies me...the difficulty is daunting...

I'm not sure about this 'quick kill' thing as you've bought the game for a reason, so enjoy the ride.

Well I'm playing Fallout 3 (including all the DLCs) and put in already 180hrs plus. That equates to explore 2/3 of the map and just started Operation Anch - yet I'm known to take my time.

@Azghouls true, and it isn't that I want to get through it  in a certain time, but time is limited...I should enjoy as is, and I do while playing, but I don't want to regret a poor choice later!

hmm, that's one I keep thinking I need to get into sooner rather than later...

Fallout 3 starts very slowly however kicks in roughly a third into the main quest. Yet I don't want to spoil it where it kicks in. However what made this game shine are the side quests. They are actually well thought out and enjoyable and some are very entertaining.

@Azghouls to me, the side quests can really make or break a game.  I just started AC3 and there are so many side quests...I think I'm going to be buried and I'm excited about it!

Finally a backlog blog :D

Anyway , you should try to scrap those casual games from your list as fast as possible. Start with games like NHL and continue with Just Dance , Green Lantern Phineas & Ferb etc.

pokecharm

@Darnasian they come at timed intervals :p

think those will be the quickest to get through?  I just never know which way is the right way to go...don't want to seem like I'm not moving in this queue!

I share in your sentiments with Resident Evil 6.   It wasn't so much the fact that it didn't play like past Resident Evils (although I can't deny that it played a factor in my feelings) -- it was that it did too many things at once and stumbled along the way.  Furthermore, the game itself was just decent, not great, but not bad.  I'd say wait for a price drop or rent it.

In the meantime, I'm getting slightly better at Assassin's Creed 3, and I'm slowly coming to grips with its complicated story (which I think is quite intriguing!)

@Asagea_888 decent is the best I can say about it - it did a variety of things, few of them well.

so is your vote for AC3 then?

Damn that's a massive list of games you've got in the sidelines there. I'd say go with Dead Space and Bioshock. They shouldn;t take you long to get through.

@Katzenbalger my only issue with Dead Space is I remember being terrified by it, Bioshock might be a quick completion...good call!
