Updating my standpoint: 2/27/09
A lot of things happened since the last time I had a chance to spread my nonesense into the internet.. Learned some things, ate some nachos, got a little closer with my girlfreinds family.
When I look at the big picture, life has been pretty kickass, but while nothings gone wrong, The videogame world seems to continue bludgeoning itself over the head through my damned XBOX headset. This is an odd subject I know, people give me the 'It's the anonimity' people say 'It's crappy banning'. Well people say a lot of crap. While that is not what I feel like talking about, I just want to mention to overall stupidity of some of the people I meet over XboxLive STILL blows my mind.
What I would like to mention, or maybe ask my readers about, is about games getting more casual, but more competitive too. Why is this? Like Halo 3 for example. Even the social playlists track your k/d ratio, kills, and all manor of things, CoD is the same for that matter. Why, if this is supposed to be a freindly social thing, do they give fuel to peoples ego and make it extremely easy for people to be idiots Why can't it just be a playlist were they don't track statistics for people more serious about the game? I know reason why they let that stuff exist in social playlists, but when I play CoD5 at my house oor go to my freinds for a few rounds of Halo 3, I don't feel like hearing language, trashtalk and the rest of the BS that comes with tracking that in a playlist you don't need it in. It's like an extra everyone turns into a main ingredient. At somepoint I must have confused the idea of social gaming for 'Trash talk arena you wont increase any real ranks in'. I hate when someone I having some form of debate with brings my stats up. even people I casually talk to do that crap these days. That's crap, utter garbage. I can't stand playing hardcore, so I wont start now, the way people act in social type lists I might as well be there already.
This is something I have thought about lately that just bugs me. Of course, my solution, if you make a game accessible to everyone PLEASE for the LOVE of all that is HOLY give players like me a place without those god damned stats. I don't care about stats. I wanna play a game, shoot some dudes, die a lot and maybe talk with some interesting people. That's it. That entire thing would be made easier if there were places in all my beloved shooters were intelligence is grabbed up and drowned by greifers, screamers and people who think they are 50 cent but sound like Soulja Boy.
