Not that I have them in my hot little hands as of yet, but only time can handle that. After a Melbourne Sumpreme Court Judge ruled against the broadcast of ch. 9's long anticipated mini-series Underbelly in Melbourne, the city where it all took place mind you, near official looking "box-sets" of the series have thankfully popped up all over Melbourne and Victorian Markets, like Footscray. Although the DVD's don't have the full 13 episodes, they have 9 of them, which is all a Melbournian could ever ask for. So, let's say a prayer, and thank God for the bootleggers around Melbourne.

"Geniusus," the new episode of Moral Orel is available at the newly refurbished [adult swim video] (previously Friday Night Fix). Definitely check it out. Written and directed by two new Moral Orel guys, and they do a great job. The animation is superb, and Ethan's direction is a pleasure to watch. The writing is fairly different to the season 1 formula, though the structure kind of resembles the first few episodes of this second season like "Love." Nonetheless, Harawitz does a great job in introducing a new feel to the show; and I think it's great to watch. The animation keeps getting better and better, and the sets in this episode are crazy. The detail that goes into them, as well as the new character designs is unbelievable. If you're bored or intrigued, go check out the episode. It has quite a few funny moments, also check out "Turn the Other Cheek" if it is still up.

After a long wait, The Wire: Complete Second Season DVD has finally arrived in Australia. What the hell was the hold up?! And why the complete absence of promotion? Advertisements for the first instalment of The Sopranos' final season on DVD were plastered up everywhere.
The Australian Nine Network aired this way back sometime in 2005 (or maybe it was 2004, but I doubt it), and after a long wait, the DVD finally came out down under, having came out in America two years prior though. However it is cheap compared to America. I got it at the Highpoint JB-HIFI for $49.95, but then I saw it for $56 at the Bourke Street store, so I guess it just depends. I'm kinda disappointed that it doesn't have the foil print packaging though, it looks so lame. And these new stupidly massive clasification warning labels are a joke, they throw these things in every conceivable place (this will be another rant). Channel 9 is about to air the season 3 finale of The Wire on Monday (in the graveyard hour of 12AM no less - Eddie needs to get his act together), but I wonder how long the DVD is going to take to reach our shores?

New banner I made for the helluvit. It's from a massive two meter collage I made last year for uni, but it's been slightly modified to fit in the space here. What you think?

'Cult Figures' is an article by Arthur Lubow.

Find out more about the design toy industry, dating back to 2004 this article is definitely worth a read because it will introduce you to the context, some history and who are pack leaders. Take a look if you're interested.

If you want to have a browse at some new stuff, the KidRobot store is one of the most famous and largest. They have a whole lot of stuff.

'All about Michael (Lau) and Gardenergala' was written by himself and is quite a read. He's world famous for his toy designs but the Gardeners collection stands out because of the initial and continued concept around it. This is the guy who pretty much started the whole designer vinyl toy phenomenon.

I got the The Wire: Season 1 DVD set yesterday, set me back $85. It's the only one i've actually seen over here in Australia, they haven't done the other seasons yet. I can't believe we have to wait this long. Actually, I saw the season 3 boxset in this DVD specialist shop, but it was an import and going for around $145, and there was no way I was going to be dishing out that much.

It has been around 4 days, and I still have the level problem bug. What the hell is going on? I couldn't really care that much, but I just don't know what the deal is. It's like having to start all over again. One of the mods said it would be fixed by now, but... eh. I'm even starting to go up, I've had the bug before, but nowhere near as long as this. Oh well.

I purchased three albums yesterday to add to my collection. Two new ones that just recently came out here and one that I've wanted for quite a while. Nas' superb Hip Hop Is Dead, Ghostface Killah's More Fish (he is one of my favourite of all time), and MF Doom's Viktor Vaughn: Vaudeville Villain.

One word; wow. Check out this AISK one flash animated intro, crazy animation skills. Some brilliant illustrations too.

edit: When you click on the image or text link, you have to delete the tv.com part of the url. For some stupid reason, they have made it so that when you add a link, it automatically makes it as a tv.com address, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of adding a link in the first place.

The new Jay-Z album, Kingdom Come, was supposed to be released in Australia yesterday on the 25th, but there was a huge distrubution problem. Hopefully, it will come soon. I wasted 2 hours of my time going into the city to get and HMV Bourke St. said the delivery never came in, what a load of bullsh*t.
Eh... I needed to vent. I think that there is a similar problem to what recently happened in Canada. The bonus CD that came with the album got pressed as the actual album CD, so that you ended up with two bonus CD's, lol. Could be worth something eventually though, I'd buy it if I had the chance. I'm just assuming that this happened here though... stupid shipments.
