My Friends

parizada's Journal

    Greetings friends!

It has been quite some time since my last post. Not to worry though, i've been keeping up to date with all my favourite shows. And I've been adding a few new ones to the list. For starters, I finally swallowed my pride and started watching Stargate Atlantis. I was able to grit my teeth and bear the first season out. And I'm glad I did, because from Season 2 onwards it became quite good. It will never measure up to SG-1 of course, but then I never expected it to so all's well.

In addition, as you may be able to tell from the title of this blog, I've begun to watch Doctor Who. Strangely enough, even though I love my sci-fi, I had never actually seen an episode of the show until about 2 weeks ago, when I was randomly flicking through the network channels on tv at about 11:30 at night, and I stumbled upon a recent episode. Needless to say, I enjoyed it a lot and so proceeded to track down the previous seasons. I'm currently half way through season 2. Oh, and i'm referring to the recent 2005 show.

In other news, today is my last day of winter break. Yes, it's winter right now for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere. Back to uni tomorrow. I'm not really looking forward to resuming my studies but on the other hand, I am getting very bored at home.

Anyway, that's news from me for now. Hopefully, I'll keep up the effort and resume blogging on a regular basis, but given my track record, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Not that you were anyway. LOL. Hope all my friends on this site are doing well.

    Until next time...

    'Twas the night before Monday,
    and all through the house,
    Every creature was stirring.
    EVEN THE MOUSE.

Have you ever noticed that when you really need some peace and quiet, everything in the world conspires to make things as noisy and chaotic as possible?

I have exams this week right? So of course this would be the week when we have someone from overseas staying at our house. Not that that's such a big deal, but it's distracting is all. GAH!!!

*sigh*That's my little rant for today. Anyone who's actually interested in reading this (few as they may be [lol]), i shall probably remain silent for the next week and a half due to exams. Or I'll get really frustrated and use this as my vent. Hehe.

    Anyways, take care.

"You know, All these people...The Kings, the Queens, the Princes. They all die. And at the end all you've got is these two guys: Fortinbras and Horatio. A soldier, and a student. Ain't that somethin'?"
    - Army Intelligence

I'm not sure if that's the exact quote but it's along those lines - LOVE IT.

Ok, so I'm at level 9 with 100%. Does anyone find that odd? shouldn't it go to level 10 with 0 percent? Oh well, to be honest, i'm not really that fussed.

I've been watching a lot of the old stargate eps recently (sg-1), and i've come to the conclusion that it should've ended at season 8. Don't get me wrong. I still like seasons 9 and 10 but it's just not the same. And i don't mean just because RDA isn't there anymore, though that is a factor. The character interractions aren't the same, the stories have a different feel to it. The whole show has just lost it's charm. Like I said, it's still a good show. But it's lost that undefinable allure. To that extent, i have to say that I think cancelling the show was a good idea. However, I do want to know how the Ori saga ends. Bring on the movies eh? Anyways, that's all i really wanted to rant about. I could've put it in the forums but lets face it, this discussion's been done to death in there and there's no point subjecting all the forum users to reading it again.

And today's quote: Kinsey finally gets whats coming to him. Woo!

President: Will you shut the hell up!?
    Dr Weir: Sorry, sir.
    President: Not you, doctor.
    Kinsey: Excuse me?
President: Consider your resignation accepted Bob
    Kinsey: You can't do that!
President: Oh, please. I got enough on you to have you shot.

You know that exam I mentioned before? well, it came out today (it's a take home exam) and it is EVIL. I swear, I nearly died when I read the questions. Of course it didn't help that I studied a grand total of...hmm...1 hour for it! I know it's all my fault but I still feel sorry for myself. Hehe. Anyways, I have till monday to finish it and there are 5 questions to be done (800 words each) and I promised myself I'd get one question done tonight. And I'm almost there really, just 300 words to go. But I was finding myself drifting and zoning out. And when I zone out I start to write total nonsense that even I don't understand so god help my lecturer! ANYWAY...that's why i'm writing this blog. To allow my brain to have a break so I can refocus. Wow. Only I can take that long to explain the motivation behind a blog post. Honestly!

    And today's quote:

Jack O'Neill: "You of all people should know that I don't believe anything anyone says, even if I understand what they're talking about!!"

    I'm supposed to be studying right now for an exam on Law and Medicine (hence the title of this blog) and i am having SO much difficulty just concentrating on it. Does anyone else have this issue? It's not as if i don't like the subject - it's actually really interesting. I just cannot study for it! GAH! Sorry, just needed to rant for a bit. lol. I've decided from now on i'm gonna end my blogs with a quote. So;

Will Turner: "This is either madness, or brilliance!"

Capt Jack Sparrow: "It's amazing how often those two traits coincide"

    Hey guys!

Sorry about the title, I've been rewatching the Lord of the Rings recently, and i've got about a dozen quotes spinning round my head.

There isn't really much point to this blog. I'm at home. I was really looking forward to going for a nice walk today coz we've had really hot weather in Melbourne the past couple of days and today it's a bit milder. But then it starts to rain!!! I swear, only in Melbourne can it go from 35 degrees to cold and windy with showers overnight.

Still, it's provided for a really relaxing Sunday. And the power of relaxing Sundays should never be underestimated. Lol! Getting a bit melodramatic perhaps but like I said, i've been watching lots of LotR and it's starting to rub off. hehe.

Anyways, I'm gonna go eat some lunch now. Hope everyone is well and enjoying their Summer/Winter wherever they are.

    Au Revoir!

    Hey guys.

Not much to tell today. Oh, i lost my bid for the Pretender but it's no big thing. I mean, there ARE limits to how much i will pay for dvd's.

In other news, one of my two casual jobs has closed over summer, so just when i'm on holidays and i need money, my income gets cut in half. I've still got my Pizza Hut job going but my manager seems to insist on giving me 2 shifts a week. Hardly enough to get by on, even when it's just spending/saving money.

I've finished watching Season 1 of JAG and MAN do i have a bone to pick. The season finale was a cliffhanger and they never filmed or even wrote the second half to it!!! They just start season 2 on a whole new page! I know there's no use crying over spilt milk but it's just sooo annoying!

Wow. My 'just saying hi' has turned into quite a rant. lol. that seems to happen to me a lot.

Not to worry. I think it's time for me to turn in tho.

Goodnight to all and to all a good night.

Whoever created ebay deserves a medal.

I just bought season 1 of JAG and i've got a bid on season 1 of the Pretender!

Do you know how hard it is to find the Pretender on DVD in Australia??? It's Impossible!

Long live Ebay! (and region-free dvd players!)

BUT not to worry. the end has come! i had my last exam today and thankfully, i don't think i've failed anything this semester. And now I have a blissful 3 and a half month vacation! Time to relax, kick back, go out, work (money-type work) and go on shopping sprees! WOO HOO!

OK, for every fan out there who doesn't already know, go to this site and sign the petition to Save SG-1

    http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Stargate/index.html

It already has over 13 000 signatures...and thats just within the few days since the big announcement.

Also visit www.savestargate.com and follow their tips and lobby the ppl at Sci-Fi.

I know this feels like a long shot but don't give up. Firefly fans rallied after its cancellation and they got the movie Serenity as a result. SG-1 is vastly more popular and has a huge fan base...so the result could be a revival of the show. Don't give up hope ppl!!! And tell everyone you know about the petition and get them to sign it too.

I can't believe it! Dumbass SCI-FI channel has decided in its supreme idiocy that SG-1 no longer deserves to be on the air!

I'm sure this comes as no surprise to any of you who have been following the discussion in the forums - and I would like to personally express my outrage. This is THE best TV show (of any genre) that I have ever come across. How the morons at SCI-FI can warrant cancelling it because of a slight rough patch in ratings is beyond me.

And on the eve of 200 too! Talk about bad timing! ARGH! I'm soooo angry! All I can say is that i'm going to try to post on forums as much as possible and petition my heart out to keep this show alive and I urge everyone to do the same.

    Hey guys!

I am finally on holidays. YAY. actually i've been on hols for about 2 weeks but i've been so busy. Busy in a good way tho. Lots of going out with friends, seeing movies and having fun!

Anyways, one of my friends sent me a link to this site which has the stargate song sung by the producers (including RDA). I recommend every single stargate fan big or small, old or young to check it out. It's fantastic. I'll put the lyrics below the link for anyone who really wants to sing along. The first time i heard it i replayed it about 10 times. It's good fun and you should get a kick out of it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqPlblcQrtU

LYRICS (to the opening theme tune of SG-1):

    Stargate,

    It's a great big whirl.

With a great big swirl and you step inside

    To another world.

    We're talking Stargate,

    It's a crazy trip.

You can walk like far, and you don't need a car

    Or even a ship.

    There's Colonel O'Neill

And Carter, and Daniel, and Teal'c.

    Look Out For That

    Go-g-g-gou....Goa'uld

I love it! Check it out and let me know what u think.

Omg, I am soooo tired. I seem to just be in a constant state of tiredness recently.

In other news, i finally levelled up. Woo hoo! Not too much to celebrate about tho coz i'm at 0% at the mo. hehe. I've decided that i'm gonna start contributing to more show, like firefly and x-files. So far, i've been sticking to stargate and black books coz i haven't had time for much else. I made a firefly quote contribution yesterday and it was approved so quickly, i couldn't believe it. I usually have to wait ages. especially for Black books.

U know what? this week has been really scary. I know that sounds weird but it has. On wednesday, i thought my backpack got stolen, which had my $2000 laptop in it. It was 20 minutes of HELL. Turns out someone took it by mistake and brought it back. Then today, I was coming home from a class, and i had to wait at the train station for my mum to pick me up and coz it's winter, it's dark early. There were a few ppl there but not that many. And these three guys, they kept looking at me weird, like leering and stuff. I was freaked out of my mind. They got on the next train and left tho, but as the train was pulling out, they were looking at me and laughing which makes me think they were purposely trying to freak me out just for the fun of it. But nonetheless, it was really scary! *Sigh* so that's my rant for the week. What's worse is, my aforementioned tiredness is making me really emotionally vulnerable coz all my defences are down when im tired and i get a lot more sensitive and cranky.

Don't worry, i'm fine now. Still tired but i just needed to rant. I'm gonna go watch some tv now and escape from the world for a while. See you soon!

    Howdy-do, everyone!

Man, am I tired. I had an 8 o'clock class today, which meant waking up at 6. Do you know I was so tired, I actually fell asleep in my lecture and my friend had to nudge me awake?! Unbelievable. I mean, there have always been lectures where i've gotten so bored that i've tuned out but i've never actually fallen asleep.

In other news, I'm up to 79%. Moving extremely slowly, but i'm getting there, inch by inch.

I just received a dvd which i bought off ebay today...The Third Man...excellent movie. Black and White murder mystery, set in post-war Vienna. Stars Orson Welles as Harry Lime. I studied it in my final year of school, and it just stuck with me. I love the Zither music! It's this really eerie sound that is so perfect! And it's really catchy too. I remember in school, me and my friends would walk around singing, humming, or whistling it, and driving everyone mad.

Anyways, I'm only writing this because I've been doing nothing but reading about ancient mesoamerica for an archaeology test I have tomorrow morning, which I am sooo not ready for, and I needed a break. I guess it's back to the grindstone for me.

Oh! And I saw Dylan Moran at the Comedy Festival! He was so good, but i'll tell all about that in my next blog. So long for now.

Well, two of my pending sumbissions were accepted. Woo Hoo!
I don't really have time to write a proper blog i'm afraid. I have to get dressed to go into the city; i'm meeting a friend from school who i haven't seen in a few months and we're gonna go watch V for Vendetta. I just thought i'd write a few lines in my spare time.

OOH! Big News! I'm going to see Dylan Moran at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival on Tuesday! For those who don't know, he's the main character (Bernard) from Black Books, and he was also the co-writer for the series. The man is a comic genius and i can't wait till the 25th!

In other news, still on level 7 at 60%. Not much new there.

OK. Time for me to go. Be back soon. lol.

    Woah!
I must say I'm both impressed and surprised with the new beta site. It looks slightly slicker than the 'alpha' site but i'm very glad that they didn't completely alter the format of the site. I really like the format because I'm used to it and it's very easily navigated. That was my main fear when i heard about the beta site, i thought it might become less 'user-friendly' so to speak.

Oh, and are any other Stargate fans as stoked as I am about it being called the 'Beta site'? I realise it wont be called this once it takes over as the main site, but i just hear the name and i think of stargate!

I like the new icons. I especially like the fact that our contributions get recognised/tallied in some way.

So yeah, A+ for the beta site: it kicks ass!

    woo hoo!
my pending submissions finally came thru!
i haven't checked my status for a few days coz i've been a bit busy with uni, so u can imagine the pleasant surprise i got! i always wanted to be a talk show host, LOL.
concerning some of the ins and outs of Contract la
In other news, i have a test tomorrow,w. Yipee! NOT! i guess i shouldn't complain coz it's not too bad. it's actually kinda interesting. i'm just glad that im prepared. well, prepared enough to pass at least. that's why im not stressing so much. i'm just trying to unwind right now before i go to bed. it's almost 11pm and i'm amazed that i've finished studying before midnight! that's something that hasn't happened for a few years, at least.

Man, my poor little eyeses are so sore...i've been staring at this computer screen since about 10am.

anyway, that's all for now. i'm gonna browse a little, maybe submit a bit, and then i'm gonna go Sleepy Bye-bye's!!

Oh and hey, what happened to that 'new look' that was supposedly coming in for this site?

    Woo hoo!
things can finally get back to normal here in Melbourne. the games finished on sunday, and i went into the city (CBD) yesterday and it was such a relief to be able to move without being squished to death by tons of spectators.
although i have to admit it was kinda cool to see so many tourists from other countries in the city at the one time. but that being said, im glad the games didn't go for any longer. Two weeks is more than enough for the residents of the host city; believe me!
I actually found the games really boring this year. i mean, i know im supposed to be all patriotic and stuff but Australia's dominance just got tiresome after a while. it wasn't any fun to watch unless there was a real chance of another country winning. i guess that's what makes the Olympics so great. With so many more countries competing, there's much better competition.
anyway, that's my little rant for today. back to the grindstone.

Very tired right now. it's been a busy two days. on a plus side, though, i just submitted a bunch of Black Books quotes. Hopefully, they'll be moderated and accepted soon. then i can move closer to levelling up! wow, i've been away from this site so long, i have so much to catch up on.

in other news, i have my first assessments for the year coming up very soon. man, that's depressing. and they're worth like 30% each too. Great. Just what i need. NOT!!! lol.

oh well, it had to happen sooner or later i guess. lol. i really should get back into the whole 'study' mode.

    rightio, im goin to sleep.
    G'Nite!!
