My Friends

30Sep 09

Yep, IGN says they are now 120 years old. It's really hard to believe a company like Nintendo has been around for so long, but man. They been around for so long. For this, I will write the best Nintendo games ever from each IP I played from them(in my opinion anyway).

Super Mario Bros (NES)- This really has to be in the top numbers somewhere, right? This game with the NES ressurected the gaming industry. Not only that, it was fun and simple to play that anyone can enjoy. Although I still think Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best Mario sidescroller around, I'd actually feel guilty if I didn't add the original to the list.

Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars(N64)- You ever wanted a game with a thrill of a scifi movie that contains dogfights? That's what Star Fox 64 pretty much is. Flying around in a ship blowing anything in your path (except allies). Heck, you can even stay in the basement every Saturday night to play this game.

Donkey Kong Country (SNES)- Okay, this was developed by Rare, but this was the first game developed by them I've played. They really brought a great platforming experience with the struggling monkey that's in fact better than Super Mario World. Not only that, Donkey Kong Country showed me on how Rare was great later on in the future (Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Star Fox Adventures, etc.)

Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal(GBC)- This I felt was the best generation for Pokemon games. It followed more of real time and made unique twists. And that's probably why I didn't like Hoenn (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) that much. It stripped down quite a bit of what Gold/Silver/Crystal had. But I heard it came back to Diamond/Pearl. My brother, eeveefan93 has Platinum and my little sister has Diamond. I should plan to pick up Diamond at some point since it brings back what the Gold/Silver/Crystal games had.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)- I still think this game is the best Zelda out there, not only that it was the best N64 game, beating Goldeneye and Perfect Dark combined. The story was phenominal, the graphics were great. And Link proves he can be awesome as a kid or an adult (well until Twilight Princess at least, but he still does well as a kid).

F-Zero GX (Gamecube)- Like Donkey Kong Country (which was developed by Rare), this F-Zero was developed by another developer and who was that developer? Why Sega was, of course. And who would've thought former console developers would team up on a game about speeding hovercraft? It was fast, looked great in both gameplay and cinematic wise and who dosen't want to pilot the Blue Falcon in these impressive graphics for it's time?

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)- Retro really did save the best for last in this final chapter of the Metroid Prime games. Easy to understand story, great FPS controls, and very unique moments.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)- The best Smash Bros game has guest stars (Snake and Sonic). And not to mention everything to love about SSB.

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)- This is the best Animal Crossing game ever. Added material, great graphics, and even online with friends is fun.

That's it for now. If I think of something I forgot, I'll edit the blog.

Happy 120th Ninty!!

    Many don't realize that Nintendo has been around since before the 20th century and they used to make playing cards and owned "Love Hotels."

    @kbaily

    I knew about that from watching an episode of Game Makers (back when the days of G4 was still watchable) about the NES. Still hard to believe they were around for 120 years.

    120 years! I agree that Super Mario bros. is one of the best games ever (check my latest blog post), but I disagree that WW is the best Animal Crossing game- it didn't have any NES games and you had to water your flowers or they died, which was not fun.

    @SuperfastSonic

    That was a shame for Wild World not to have NES games, but it really wasn't important in the Animal Crossing world

    I also knew they were around before the 20th century.

    You can't deny the masterpieces they have made and great innovations like the Stylus and the Wii mote and the Rumble Pack.
