The future of Wii, what will it be?

Hi Gamespot users, this is my first ever blog and in it I would like to question Nintendo's plans for the next home console after the Wii, how it will be different, and what sort of games and audience will it be lean towards. Now, ever since I've had my Wii I have always thought about how Nintendo will be able to create future consoles which are different, unique, and have a big reason for buying them. Now that a new console seems imminent in the next few years, I am wondering what they will do.

First off, the logical Wii upgrade would be to make it with HD quality graphics, so it is up to par with its competitors, as well as increase its power and storage space, and even include a built in DVD or blu-ray player. But it wouldn't exactly be a new console, simply an improved version of the existing system like the DSi is. For it to be a serious must-buy new console, Nintendo will have to do other things as well. These other improvements that I really want to happen are for them to make the WiFi service far more easily accessible, easy to use, and for it to consistently work without so many error codes or lag. Another likely upgrade is that they could bring in a new more complex controller with motion controls and extra buttons for the more serious gamers, but still allow standard Wii-mote controllers to be used. With the new 'normal' Wii-mote, they should and probably will make the Wii MotionPlus technology built into them from scratch. They also need to make a more direct way of messaging Wii friends instantly, plus info showing if they are online or not.

The other worry is games, because they not only need to release more hardcore first party must-buys, but the downloadable games services should be improved as well. There haven't been many good quality hardcore games coming out on disc or on WiiWare recently, and even though I will still buy games like Wii Sports Resort, they still need more games of the other sort coming out too. That's not to say there isn't any though, with games like The Legend of Zelda and Mario Galaxy 2 set to be released in the near future. By the time the next console comes, I would like all of these problems addressed, and the new Wii to not just be considered a casual system for non-gamers, but a console for both, that is just as hardcore as the others.

I have high hopes for Nintendo's next home console, and whether it is still called a Wii ot not, I expect a new formidable system, not just an improved upgrade.
