nightclaw's Blog
Welcome to my blog. I'm a big RPG fan who loves Fire Emblem and the Tales series. The Mario RPGs are cool, too. Visit my union, the Soldiers of Wii!

28Apr 07As you can see, my activity has gone down the drain. I'm busy w/ hmwk. and band most of the time, and GS just isn't as fun as it used to be. Also, it seems to load SO much slower than other sites, which doesn't help. I'm probably going to pass leadership of the union soon, I just need to find someone that will do a good job as keeping it on track. I'll be on occasionally, but I won't be as active like last year.

25Mar 07Well, most of the reason why I haven't been here for a couple of weeks is because I've been playing Maplestory. My brother and i have gotten addicted to the game. My character is nightclaw92 on the Bellochan server. Anyway, when i came back, I notcied that my about me section was deleted and my avatar is different on my profile page. Did GS update or glitch while I was gone. Anyway, i'm happy to return and hoe I don't get whisked away again *runs to play MS*.

28Feb 07Well, since GS is giving a bigger avatar, I thought it was a good time to change it somewhat. It's pretty much the same, but if you look closely, it's Kratos, but in his angel clothes. It's not much, but it's ok. Too bad there's no background like the old one; the shield is quite hard to see now.

5Jan 07Well, the reason I've been gone for a while is because I GOT A WII!!!! I've been playing TP and Wii Sports so much, I totally forgot about GS. I also went back to school on Tuesday, too. Well, I might go play TP now!

Chapter 8: Through Blinding Light
Chapter 9: Shadows of the Past
For once in a long time, Kenai was actually afraid. He wasn’t worried about death, however. Kenai could not face the truth about his family. Now that he thought about it, he never knew that much about his brother and sister. But now, since that day, he had been in such a huge family reunion.
The room of the last trial was in a faded shadow, with nothing but an altar at the other end. Unlike the other rooms, this place seemed more like an actual Necropalace. Halfway through the room, Kenai saw skeletons, obviously of ones to weak to endure their fate. When Kenai reached the altar, he saw it: the Necrostone. It was the source of all dark magic in Zephyr; its power made Kenai tremble. Then, the ground beneath Kenai shook violently.
You, of accursed blood.
Kenai stood surprised. Nobody was in the room. He certainly didn’t expect the Necrostone to talk to him.
Thou who holds the power of those rivaling us, what have you come to achieve? You deserve no power. You are a disgrace to all Shadow. Why must I grant you your right of passage, when you knowingly hold traces of Aura?
Kenai just stood there, speechless. The pebble was not lying. Ever since he was young, Kenai knew of his mother, an Aura sage. How his father met her, he had no idea, but it had caused the Auraic to become extremely upset. So much that he ordered the execution of the couple. The Auraic must have seen something in his hybrid magic, and kept him alive. Why else would Zen keep him locked up?
You have even brought your own family here. How dare you keep your own sister from knowing the truth! The longer you wait, the more she will hate you…
“Enough!” yelled Kenai. “How is it my fault that I’m a hybrid?! How is it Nikolas’ or Caitlyn’s fault, either? Nikolas and I have been living a lie, trying to hold our secret with dignity. Caitlyn knows nothing yet! You don’t knows how hard it is, being against what you truly are and being separated from those you grew up with. Watching your parents die, right in front of your very eyes, by those with whom you are a part of…”
Then so it shall be. If you can face your truest fear, then the crest is yours. If not, you will rot in this temple, disgracing the Katanga name further.
“I’ll take whatever you have,” challenged Kenai.
So be it.
The Necrostone started to rumble on its altar, slowly rising into the air. Dark puffs of smoke formed around the stone making a human figure. Kenai stood aghast, knowing whom the stone was trying to mimic.
“Father?!”
Yes. The man whom you blame for your forsaken status, but also the man whom you idolized. Fighting the man who taught you everything you know will be your trial.
The misty figure raised a scythe almost as tall as him, also made of the smoke. It lunged towards Kenai, ready to strike. Kenai just stood there and took the hit.
“Uraghhh! What?! It’s…just…mist…”
Kenai was on knees, gasping for breath. He looked for his wound, but found none.
The smoke leaves no mark, but is always felt. You must endure your pain and attack!
It was Kenai’s turn to take initiative. He fired several Dark Shots at the figure, but did no damage as they all went through the smoke.
How am I supposed to kill something that can’t be hit? The smoke just flows past my attacks, physical or magic. Plus, this thing moves way to fast for me to dodge. Its attacks aren’t fatal, but soon I won’t be able to move if this pain persists…
Kenai decided to try to deflect his “father’s” attacks with his own weapon. However, the scythe curved around and struck its target. Kenai was knocked to the floor, and he struggled to get up. The sage was wobbling at his legs; he couldn’t take much more of this.
There has… to be some sort… of weak point…, thought Kenai. Specter!
All Kenai could see was a blurry mass of gray, with different shades of the color blending together. While Kenai tried to look for a weakness, he was left wide open for another slash from the misty figure.
“Arghhh!”
Kenai was too tired to get up anymore. After an attempt to pull himself up, he fell back onto the floor.
I guess the descendant of a Shadow of the highest order can’t claim his crest. So it is true, the child of the strong can never live up to their father.
“Never compare me to my father!” yelled Kenai, fighting his way onto two legs. His eyes became black like pure obsidian. His insight became much clearer now. The Necrostone, the source of the mist, was within the figure all along. Holding up his left arm to steady it, Kenai fired a single shot at the Necrostone.
It was over in a flash. The gem fell to the ground, lifting all of the mist from the room. Kenai’s energy returned as well, and he placed the Necrostone back onto the altar.
How surprising. You have strength after all. Quite odd how it comes from the hatred of your father, whom you idolized. It’s doesn’t matter. I now bestow the symbol of all Shadow, the Phantom Crest.
As the crest appeared on his left hand, he was trembling. All that power coming at once gave his hand a numbing sensation. When it was over, the crest, which was a circle with a cross over it, lay etched onto Kenai hand.
“At last, I can pay back those that have made me suffer,” Kenai whispered. “Might as well take this along, too. If the Auraic gets his hands on the Acrocrystal, this may be the only way to stop Maxwell.” He took the Necrostone, put it in his pocket, and went out to meet Caitlyn.
“Ah, what does it do?” asked Caitlyn upon seeing the crest.
“You’ll find out soon. Come on, we have to get to the Talon base and help Gaati as promised.”
“Hey, you feeling okay?”
“Umm, sure. Just…a little tired, that’s all.”
She’s gonna find out. Sooner or later she will learn our family’s curse.
Stay tuned for Chapter 10: The Diversion!

23Nov 06Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I'll be at my grandma's house most of the day with realtives from my dad's side, so I won't be on much today. Anyway, while I'm gone, here's a video of AHS marching band at TOC. TOC is the last competition of the fall season, so I'll have more free time on the weekends unitl the spring season (which is in about February).

You know why I can't be here often is mostly because of schoolwork, right? However, marching band takes a huge chunk of time too. On Youtube, I was surprised when I saw the band I'm in perform at Foothill! Click here to watch us play. I'm in the third rank (row) and the second from the left when LOOKING AT the band. For all the band geeks out there, I play the euphonium/baritone.

Chapter 8: Through Blinding Light
“Arghh! What’s this!” yelled Kenai.
The room was brightly lit, blinding Kenai’s sight entirely.
“What do you mean? It’s just a bit of sunlight, nothing to worry about. What, are you like a vampire or something?” teased Caitlyn.
“Not exactly,” answered Kenai. “However, these rays must be disrupting my magic. All I can use is Specter, but even then it’s not working at its full potential. I can only sense where things are, that’s it.”
“I guess that’s the second trial, being able to navigate by only using Specter,” predicted Caitlyn.
“I don’t think so,” replied Kenai. “Caitlyn, get ready. We’re in for a fight.”
“Will you be okay? You can’t even see!” cried Caitlyn.
“True, but you can see clearly, no? Just cover me and keep me on my two feet. Here they come!” shouted Kenai.
Caitlyn tried shooting at the souls, however, the blasts weren’t making contact. In fact, it seemed like they were coming right back.
“Hey! Stop shooting them! They can reflect your spells right back at us! I’ll cover you while you enchant your blade. Just use your sword and take them down when they get close!” advised Kenai.
Caitlyn ran behind Kenai and quickly got to work enchanting her weapon. All Kenai could see through his specter were blurry distortions of the enemy, but it was all he needed. Stabbing through multiple monsters at the same time, he was successfully able to let Caitlyn fuse her blade with light magic. It was now a much lighter rapier, with a red ribbon tied to the hilt. The blade gently quivered in that air as Caitlyn swung it about.
Caitlyn then ran out into the fray to give Kenai a rest. He was exhausted; fighting and holding out Specter for a long time took most of his energy. Kenai sat himself down near the door to catch his breath.
Luckily, Caitlyn’s rapier proved to be quite useful. She was very quick with her jabs and was easily able to kill the fiends one by one. When the souls started to converge around her, Caitlyn couldn’t escape.
Hiyyahhh!
Kenai crushed an entire side of the crowd using the impact of his lance. He then worked his way through the rest of the pack, freeing Caitlyn and letting her start a killing spree of her own. With nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises, the two were able to clear out all of the souls.
“Thanks for helping me out back there,” acknowledged Caitlyn. “If it wasn’t for you…”
“Don’t worry about it,” shrugged Kenai. “We definitely need each. We can’t get through this if one of us falls. The next trial is the last one. I request that you stay out of it, for your own safety.”
“But you just said…”
“I know, but please listen. I do not want you to have anything to do with the next trial. Don’t even go into the room. Is that clear?”
“Fine, my brother trusts you, so why shouldn’t I?”
“Thank you. Please wait here until I return.”
Kenai opened the door walked into the shadows behind it.
If she came with me, she would know the truth. That would be too heartbreaking and cause many unneeded problems. I cannot let her know…

15Sep 06Well, right now I'm at the sort of last boss for Baten Kaitos (people who have will know who I'm talking about). All I can say is that he's VERY hard. It could be that I need to level up more, or it could be my deck. I'll probably get everyone to 80 before going at it again so I'm stronger plus have much beter magnus. Hopefully I can beat it by the end of the weekend.

30Aug 06yeah, i started school on monday, so you can see i've been a little busy. Everything's been going fine, haven't been picked on yet. that's a surprise considering in my Pre-Cal class (yes, I'm being serious when i say I'm taking Pre-Cal as a freshman) I'm the only freshman. Well, at least I know some spohmores and a junior there, so I think I'll be fine. In terms of activity, don't expect much until the weekend. Hopefully i can find time there. I'm taking Pre-IB courses, so I can't guarantee much, especially in the future.

26Aug 06I went to a garage sale today, and i found three great games for only $5 each! I got Baten Kaitos, Ultimate spiderman, and Beyond good & Evil. I would be playing them all, but I don't have enough space for BG&E. I don't understand, the case says I need 20 blocks, but the game says I need 55... Oh well, the other two games will keep me busy for a long time to come.

22Aug 06Yes, I'm quite aware that I haven't been coming lately, but the truth is that i've been very busy. Last week I had relatives over, so spent most of my time with them since I haven't seen them for five years. For all this week I have band camp from 9-4, and that doesn't include home practice. So yeah, pretty much consider me gone for this week, but i'll be up and ready come the weekend.

Ok, Ch.7 is now finished! Enjoy and please comment! Just saying that you read is good enough!
Previous Chapters:
Chapter 7: Necropalace
“Good job, you two!” congratulated Gaati. “You guys really know each others strengths and weaknesses. You’ll do well in the Necropalace. The transport there is right down that hall. Everything is ready so that Caitlyn here will be safe. The transport will take you right outside the entrance, you can’t miss it. And here, take this communicator, just in case if you have any questions. Good luck and see you soon!”
“Thanks, Gaati,” said Kenai. “Are you sure you will be fine? Infiltrating the axon base won’t be an easy task.”
“Yes, Nikolas and I have talked about it, and I think it’s a good idea to make more preparations. We probably won’t be starting until well after you return, so please don’t worry.”
“Whatever you say, Gaati. Come one, Caitlyn, let’s go.”
Both walked down the hallway and stepped onto the transport. Kenai was calm, but Caitlyn looked quite nervous.
We’re actually going to the Necropalace. That’s doesn’t sound very pleasing… I can just picture it: cobwebs, dark rooms, and terrifying monsters! I wonder if Kenai feels the same way?
Come on, let’s get this thing started! I can’t wait to start the trial! Humph, I must stay calm, I don’t want Caitlyn getting nervous from my thirst for battle.
The transport started glowing, but unlike before, gusts of wind appeared. They swirled so fast that it became almost solid, like the blades of a fan. The wind acted like the dark sphere, and took the sages into the carving.
Ah, so instead of dark magic, Gaati used wind, thought Kenai. Interesting… I guess the only down side to this is that we’re moving a bit slower. At least we’re in not much of a hurry.
Caitlyn and Kenai soon arrived at their destination, but both were confused.
“This is the Necrotemple? It’s so beautiful, like a church,” exclaimed Caitlyn. “Look, there’s even flowers growing near the entrance.”
“Gaati, what is this?” asked Kenai through the communicator.
Oh, you didn’t know? For some strange reason, the Necropalace has huge reading of light energy, and the Acrotemple is vice versa. However, the reason behind it is unclear to us, or at least the Shadow.
“Now I see why my brother wanted you to accompany me, so I would be safer in an area of opposing magic. Wait, if you step in there, wouldn’t you get hurt?”
Take it from me, once you step in there it’s like most of your power has been sapped away. The only dark magic I could do in there were arts. Maybe with your power you could scrape up some shots, but they won’t be very strong. Caitlyn, I believe, will be much stronger. Kenai, it’s okay for you to depend on her for most of the palace. She’ll be fine. Just use your dark magic sparingly.
“Wait, what do you mean by ‘most of the palace’?” asked Caitlyn.
You two will see for yourselves. I really shouldn’t be talking about this anyway. We here at talon will be hoping for your safe return. Best of luck! Gaati out.
“Well, he sure gave us some really useful info, didn’t he?” said Caitlyn.
“Yeah, no wonder why Nikolas said it was a fair deal. So I trust that you’ll be the first to enter?”
“Umm, I guess so. Come on, Kenai. Follow my lead.”
“Humph, yeah we’ll see about that.”
“Ok, they’re in. Come on, men, MOVE OUT! We’re headed for the Axon base! March at double time!"
***
“Wow, this place is so spacious!” exclaimed Caitlyn.
The palace had many exquisite columns and numerous vases near the walls. The ceiling was very high, with a courtyard that reached out unto the clouds. There were many paintings hanging on the wall that showed portraits of Shadow sages. Kenai saw one with a couple, and ran to it.
“I can’t believe it…” said Kenai.
“Huh, is something wrong?”
“These… are my parents!”
“Look at this plaque under the portrait, it reads ‘Alexander and Sonia Katanga, the masters of dual Shadow.’ What is that?”
“Even I don’t know the specifics, but it’s a rare genetic trait among Shadow that lets them use dark arts using both hands.”
“If it’s genetic, shouldn’t you have it?”
“One day I will, but I must grow stronger. You never know, with you being a descendant of the Auraic and all, you may have dual aura.’
“Do you really think so?”
“The Katanga name represents the strongest of all Shadows, like how Delacruz is associated with the strongest Auras.”
“Ummm, Kenai? I’m getting this REALLY weird feeling. I feel very strong light presences all over this courtyard!”
“Then they’re coming. The palace is filed with many trials that puts our strength to the very limit.”
“It seems like everything is coming at once!”
“I’m not surprised. As a Shadow, we must be able to handle combat situations in which odds are against us. That’s why Gaati’s machine spit out so many enemies at once.”
“Yes, but unlike before, they’re coming from all directions. We’re gonna be surrounded!”
“Ok, my arts are too slow in this situation. However, you can easily wipe them out with Light Rain. Heal only on my command. Like in the sim, charge magic if you’re running low. How many do you think there are?”
“I think 500.”
“What?! That’s way too many. Ok, See that opening over there, when they come we’ll try to burst through. Keep the same attack strategy, but I’ll focus my offenses that way, while you cover me!”
“Here they come!”
All of a sudden, hundreds of Auras shot out from the ground, creating a circle around the two sages. However, in the garments of the Aura were no bodies, just souls. When Kenai tried to stab at the Aura in front of him, the lance phased through. The same happened with the rest of the souls.
“What?! Nothing’s working! How can we get through if they just reform?”
“What do you mean, these ghosts are no match for my arts!”
“I see, magic is the only way to kill them. I got it! Caitlyn, cover me in al directions for a minute. I’m going to combine my magic with my lance. That should work, and it will be more efficient than me shooting off hundreds of Dark Shots.”
“Ok, I’ll try my best!”
Caitlyn kept shooting all around Kenai, trying off the souls as best as se could. Kenai, sometimes had to kick the advancing Auras that Caitlyn couldn’t get, while merging his magic with his lance as fast as he could. When he was done, the lance looked much different. It was now three-pronged, like a trident. The handle now had black strakes running down the stick. To Kenai, the lance itself was lighter and easier to
handle.
“Ok, I’m good, get back to your position!”
Now things were looking up. One by one Kenai struck down Auras. Caitlyn did well keeping the advancing enemies at bay. After a grueling battle, the two were able to make it out of the courtyard, and closed the door behind them. To keep the souls out, Kenai enchanted the door with his magic, much like his lance.
“Well, looks like we’re done with the first trial,” said Kenai.
“You mean there’s more?” complained Caitlyn.
“Of course, gaining a crest is by no means an easy task. Come now, the next trial awaits.”

Here's another installment! Enjoy and please comment!
Chapter 6: Gaati’s Machine
“Wow, look at all this! There are computers lining the walls! Wait, isn’t this the room we arrived in?” asked Caitlyn.
“No, that was our observation deck. This here is a state-of-the-art battle simulator,” boasted Gaati. “This baby can get the most inexperienced fighter ready for any battle!”
“You really do take pride in your machines, don’t you? So, where did you get it? Did it set you back much?” asked Caitlyn.
“Ha, I built this with my own two hands from scratch!” proclaimed Gaati.
“Wow, are you serious!”
“Gaati is one of the most prestigious mechanics in Zephyr. Who do you think built Talon from ground up?” said Nikolas.
“Unbelievable,” muttered Caitlyn.
“You’ve outdone yourself, Gaati. Come on, we have no time to waste! Gaati, crank it up to the highest level this thing can go!”
“Kenai, are you sure about that? You can probably do it, but Caitlyn…”
“My sis can do it. Besides, they’ll need to be as strong as they can get in order to survive the palace trials.”
“How hard can it be? We escaped from those prison guards and I lived through that transport.”
“Also, you can’t die in my machine. You’ll experience no bleeding or injuries of the sort. However, you will feel pain.”
“Huh, how can you do that? Why is feeling pain so important anyway?” asked Caitlyn.
“Well, you will wear these armlets while in the sim. These armlets are filled with life force, so they absorb any injuries and whatnot. However, you would still feel the attack. It wouldn’t be much of a simulation if you couldn’t feel anything, now would it?”
“Ok, enough talk,” declared Kenai. “Caitlyn and I will go in and get started. Don’t worry about us; right after we’re done we’ll head over to the Necropalace. You two should get started on battle preparations now.”
Gaati went over to the main keyboard and booted up the system. Kenai and Caitlyn got their weapons ready, having no idea what was in store for them.
Ok, level 9 battle sim starting. Good luck you two, said Gaati over the speaker. Ok, sim starts in 3, 2, 1, GO!
Suddenly the room became a dry field, with no cover in sight. The dirt seemed to go forever, even though the room itself was only about 15 meters in length and width.
“How do we know where the walls are?” asked Caitlyn.
Don’t worry, you won’t be moving too far. Ok, enemy download complete!
“Get ready, Caitlyn!”
Soon, about five-score enemies rushed in from both sides, leaving no room for escape.
“Caitlyn, keep the enemies coming from the north side at bay with your Light Rain. I’ll charge the rest of the enemies with my lane and Dark Shot. Go!”
Kenai immediately ran towards the enemy soldiers with his lance pointing forward. He ran through his first victim and bashed the skull of another with the end of his lance. The soldiers were getting too close than Kenai liked, so he started shooting Dark Shots into the enemy crowd. This was working much better than using melee weapons, as multiple enemies were blown away with each blast.
On Caitlyn’s side, she was doing a fine job keeping her distance from the enemy with her Light Rain. Even thought it wasn’t strong as Dark Shot, her rapid-fire took down enemy numbers just as fast. After a while, the soldiers began to split up into three groups of about 10. Kenai was still fighting about 25 soldiers at once, so Caitlyn would have to do this on her own. Luckily, Kenai saw her problem and yelled to her, “Use Cloak! It’ll distract them!”
“Umm, ok! Cloak!”
She then became almost invisible. Light would still reflect off her, but even then, it was hard to see her. Plus, her magic trail was covered up, too, so no one could track her using Insight or Specter. Even her sword was camouflaged, too. She then ran up to the left group and started striking them down one by one, with a hit-and-run tactic. None of the enemies could find where she was, and the left flank was taken down in a matter of time. However, her magic ran out, and she was visible once again.
“Oh, no!”
“Don’t worry, just charge up your energy and start firing again. If they get too close, you can try to practice your swordplay, just cast Aid once in a while. Otherwise, run away.” said Kenai.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, and they’re coming closer!”
Kenai struck down another soldier. “Just concentrate your power like you’re about the attack, but keep the energy inside you.”
“Ok, I’ll try.” Caitlyn closed her eyes, put her hands together, and bowed her head down. Bright swirls of lights came around her and started to flow into her. The soldiers were surprised at the sight and stopped their advance. Caitlyn was now at full power again, and with the last 20 soldiers bunched up into a mob, she easily shot each one down. Kenai soon finished with his last soldier, removing the lance point from the soldier’s gut.
“That was quite easy. I didn’t really get hurt at all!” exclaimed Caitlyn.
“That’s because we aren’t finished yet. Look, the commander coming this way.”
The general of the soldiers was clad in thick armor, shining brightly in the light. The shadow of his helm covered his face, making it impossible to see what he was trying to do. The general then came rushing towards them, moving very fast despite his heavy armor.
“We have no chance to charge magic attacks! We’ll have to use our weapons.”
Caitlyn then casted Aid to make sure they were at optimum strength.
“Ok, I’ll attack from the front, working more as a distraction. You’ll go behind him as try to slash through that armor. Look for weak spots, mostly where the metal plates connect.”
“Why don’t I distract him? I can move much faster than you.”
“Your sword has better chance of cutting through the plates than this lance, since lances need more accuracy. He’s getting closer! Go, now!”
Caitlyn tried to run past him, but then he started go after her. Kenai shot a few shots at the general catching his attention. He turned his head to find Kenai trying to stab through the armor with his lance. The commander then took his large axe, and tried to slice Kenai. However, the axe was too slow and Kenai was able to jump to the side, unharmed. Caitlyn was following the plan well, she was now behind him and started looking for gaps in the plates. She even used Cloak she would definitely go unnoticed. A gap was soon found near the shoulder blades. She slashed at it, and the plates on his left arm fell off. The same was done to the other arm.
“Don’t go looking for the arms! Look for vital organs!”
Caitlyn now understood. Cutting off too much armor would make the general more mobile. Even though he couldn’t track her, Kenai would still be in danger, especially now that he could swing much faster now. Caitlyn looked frantically for latches near the torso or head. Finally she found one at the neck connecting the helm to the rest of the body. She cut off the latch, grabbed the helm, and removed it from the armor. Kenai, barely dodging a fatal ax swing jumped up, and stabbed his spear between the general’s eyes. The general then fell to the dirt with a large clang. The room soon turned back to normal, as the two found themselves in the middle of the room.
“Good job, Caitlyn. I underestimated you. I didn’t expect you to use Cloak like that. Good thinking. Although, I was expecting you to use Insight to find the latches, rather than spend a long time searching. But at least we got the job done, so let’s go to the Necrotemple.”
Wow, this was my first battle with Kenai, thought Caitlyn. He’s very strong, and he definitely lives up to his family name. I can see why my brother chose him to escort me to the Acrotemple. Hopefully I won’t drag him behind…

I just finished watching the Epilogue, which took 30 MINUTES! Wow... i didn't skip anything that's why. But when I got to the scrolling parts, I logged on and paid no attention. However, I did count how many units I killed: 848. Ike was 1st w/ 131. I beat the game in 30 hours, 29 min. Now I'm on my 5th playthrough!
Also, i'm still looking for comments about my story. if you have the time, please read it and post your thoughts. it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's Prologue-Ch.4! For those of you that read this before, I changed most of the end of the chapter, so read the part when the soldier comes in if you want to know what changed..
Chapter 5: Talon’s Welcome
“Whoa, it’s so small and empty here! Why is this place deserted? Was Talon found by Axon?” exclaimed Caitlyn.
“No, there’s still a strong dark presence here. Where is it coming from?”
“Hey, look at this carving on the ground! It looks so cool!”
“Wait! Don’t touch that!”
“Ahhhhhhhh!” Caitlyn was shocked by some invisible force, leaving her out of breath. “What was that?”
“It’s the source of the dark presence. This must be a transport, which should take us to the real Talon base. It rejected you because it was made with dark magic.”
“Why does that make a difference?”
“You see, light and dark magic don’t mix well. If an aura gets too close to anything powered by dark magic, they’ll wind up getting hurt. Thus, opposing magic works much better than magic of the same type.”
“So that’s why my brother wants you to help me get my crest, because your magic will work great in the Acrotemple.”
“Yes, but it also means I’ll need to be more careful, since the magic there is very effective against me. You’ll need to keep a close eye on me and use Aid if necessary.”
“But Aid is a light spell. Wouldn’t you get hurt by that?”
“No, I should be fine, but it won’t be as effective compared to you using it on yourself. Don’t worry, you have a lot of power in you.”
“Thanks. So, do you want me to stay while you’re Talon?”
“No, you can come.”
“What?! Didn’t you see me get knocked back by the transport?”
“Yes, but if I use Barrier on you, you’ll be fine.”
“Wow, another dark spell! You guys sure have a lot of those. So, Barrier will protect me form the dark magic?”
“Yes, Barrier negates all magic on whom it is cast on. You ready?”
“Yeah, ummm, will it hurt?”
“It shouldn’t, but we’ll soon see. Barrier!”
Dark energy soon surrounded Caitlyn. It soon became like a cloud, expanding and receding near hr body. The two then walked into the transport. The carving on the ground lit up, emanating dark magic, which was reflected by Barrier.
“It’s not working!” cried Kenai. “Barrier is reflecting the magic which is supposed to take us to Talon! Cast Aid on yourself right now, I’m releasing Barrier.”
“What?! Are you crazy! The magic could kill me!!!”
“Like I said, you have a lot of power in you. Cast casting Aid, and you’ll live.”
“You’d better not be lying. Aid!!!”
The dark magic from the transport swirled around them, while flashes of light from Caitlyn’s Aid kept her alive. The swirls then became a solid sphere. The ball of darkness then sank within the carving, taking Kenai and Caitlyn with it.
The transport then came up within a room filled with computers and other technology. The sphere shattered, uncovering the two sages. Caitlyn was on the ground, alive, but panting.
“Whew! I can’t believe I made it! I guess I really am strong!”
Yes, but now that you’re weakened, you’re easy prey, intruder!
Caitlyn gasped. “No!!!”
“Hold on, Gaati! She’s a friend of mine.”
“Kenai, is that you? I can’t believe you’re alive! Ever since your parents were murdered, we all thought the Katanga clan was wiped from existence! How have you been, and why do you have an Aura with you? Tell me everything that’s happened.” said Gaati.
***
“Ah, I see. But I still don’t see why you have so much trust in her!”
“It’s mostly because she hasn’t tried to kill me yet, even after knowing who I am.”
“That doesn’t say much! Who would be dumb enough to take you on one-on-one! Even I wouldn’t do it!”
“She wouldn’t need to. She has access to all Axon troops in Zephyr. Even I couldn’t handle that many Auras at once.”
“Wait, how could such a young girl have control over so many troops?”
“It’s fairly simple. Caitlyn is Maxwell’s daughter.”
“What? Humph, guess it runs in the family.”
“I’m confused.” said Caitlyn. “How did you know I’m Maxwell’s daughter, and what do you mean runs in the family?”
“Well, Nikolas told me everything about who you were when he first visited me.” answered Kenai.
“This may surprise you, but your brother is on our side. He disagrees with his father’s way of thinking, and came here hoping that he could help. He has been quite helpful, telling us information all Axon formation, weakness, etc. In fact, he’s here right now.”
“My brother is here, right now. Can I see him? Please!”
“Of course, knock on the first door on the right of that hallway. He’s in a meeting right now, but I’m sure he’ll make time for you.”
"Ok, thank you so much, Gaati!” Caitlyn ran off, anxious to meet her brother for the first time in over a year.
"So, Gaati, how has it been? What have you been up to?”
“Well, I’m actually the founder of Talon. I’m the general of the entire team.”
"Wow, I’m impressed, what made you take on the job?”
“Well, I’ve always looked up to your father, Alex. When we were friends, I wished I could be as strong as him. And ever since my wife died, I’ve been hoping for a way to avenge her. That’s when I created Talon. Oddly enough, I’m not a Shadow anymore, but everyone else here is.”
“Oh, I feel terribly sorry for Allison, but what happened to your Shadow power?”
“It’s a long story, but what pretty much happened is that I fought General Zen, and lost. I was beat so bad that my powers were drained. Don’t worry, I can still fight using these.”
Gaati showed two large cannons. They were very heavy, and looked like they could destroy cites in a matter of minutes.
“Yup, I created these guns myself. I can use ‘em 3 ways: dual cannon, dual laser, and, my favorite, magna cannon.”
“Looks like you’re still strong as ever with these weapons, huh Gaati. So, Zen is the general of Axon now?”
“Yup, he was promoted about 4 years ago. Didn’t help us in any way, Zen is a lot stronger than Sydney. Some say he killed him to gain his title.”
“You know, that’s quite easy to believe…”
General, something terrible has happened!
A Talon soldier ran into the room. He was all beat up, and on the verge of collapsing.
“What happened, soldier?” asked Gaati.
“Zen.. he took…the Acrocrystal!”
“Why would they take their own stone?”
“I don’t know General, but they did. They even destroyed the Acrotemple!”
“What?! Are they insane? Do you know where the crystal is now?”
“It’s… at the… Axon base, sir.” The soldier collapsed.
“Get Nikolas and Caitlyn over here to heal him! Kenai, will you help me get the Acrocrystal back?”
“Sure, I promised Nikolas that I would help get Caitlyn her crest ASAP anyway, so I she need the stone back.”
No. Get your crest first, Kenai.
Nikolas walked through the door. He was in his sage form, a long white cloak with a huge collar that rested on his shoulders. It was loose-fitting, enabling agility and flexibility. Caitlyn stood by him, clinging to his arm.
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yeah, it’s okay. We’ll need you two to be as strong as you can be for this operation. Besides, I don’t want my sis on the battlefield unless it’s totally necessary. I’m hoping to get the crystal back before you two return.”
“Of course you’ll retrieve the crystal before we’re done, the Acrotemple is very far away.”
“Don’t worry! The Talon base has transports that go all around Zephyr! We can also set it so that Caitlyn won’t get hurt in the process,” proclaimed Gaati.
“Ok Caitlyn, let’s get started right way. We’ll be back as soon as we can.”
“Hold on, take these. Just in case if you exhaust your power, use these weapons to fend off enemies until you’re magic is back. Here’s a spear for you, and a blade for Caitlyn. I wish you the best of luck.”
“Thank you, Gatti.”
“Ummm, are you sure about this?” whispered Nikolas to Gaati. “Sis has never held a weapon in her whole life. I think Kenai will be in more danger than the monsters in the palace.”
“You may have a point,” answered Gaati. “Hey Caitlyn, before you leave, go inside that room so you can learn how to use that sword properly. Kenai, go in there, too so you can warm-up before you leave.”
“Let’s go Caitlyn,” said Kenai. “I know a thing or two about swordsmanship, so I’ll teach you the basics.”
“Ok,” replied Caitlyn. “This’ll be fun!”
“Go at it, sis.”
“You really love your sister, huh,” said Gaati.
“Yeah, she’s the only family I got left…”

Well, guess I'm at level 20 now. Here comes 3 months of it...
On a side note, I beat Partners in Time for a 3rd time. I was surprised that I beat the game in 13 hours. I got 17 in my other 2 playthroughs. I also started playing Path of Radiance again. I may put down Sacred Stones until I finish PoR cuz I'm having trouble w/ Ch. 19.
About my braces, they're feeling better. I think by tomorrow i can chew and practice baritone again.

24Jul 06Well, I have braces on my top teeth now. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much I thought it would. Even when they put on the wires, I only felt discomfort, but not pain. i'm still getting used to having the metal on my teeth. So yeah, i can't have candy, gum, jerky, popcorn, hard-shell tacos, nuts, soda, corn on the cob, potato chips, or anything else, sugary, sticky, hard, or chewy. It'll be a long 2 years...
