    Penn & Teller Do Games

Well, what can I say except... YEEEEESSSSSSS. Oh the episode was so perfect. I won't ruin a moment for anyone who has not yet seen it, but every gamer on earth should have to see it. Showtime people, Penn & Teller Bull****. That's right, I can't type the name of a show, *sigh*. Anyway, my only regret is that they clearly filmed before Jack Thompson was disbarred. That said, the ending is sure to move "middle america" in the right direction. It's fun to see the other side play dirty for a change.

For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, this is a television show which tackles, and to some degree, debunks things. Now, they're heavily skewed to the entertainment end of the spectrum, the discovery channel this is NOT. It's also filled with profanity, etc... Just a fair warning. That said, they interviewed Jack Thompson, had a 9 year old gamer fire an AR-15,and more. The absolute conviction with which the anti-gaming (and to a greater extent all distracting) lobby is dismantled is beautiful to see. I'll give it a week or so, but then I am blogging spoilers so it can be discussed. It's too darned good to miss!

The Odd Wisdom of Henry Kissinger

I'm struck in a time when the governer of Alaska (who in my opinion, should be shot from a helicopter) is about to be... NOT the gov. Reflecting on the Bush years, and all that history is going to uncover over the next 50 years or so, I keep thinking of the strange, soulless.... but often CORRECT quotes of Henry Kissinger.

To be frank, I never thought about posting quotes, but I really liked Semaphore313's quote of the week concept, and whole I'm not as committed to blogging, here's a few from one source.

"Any fact that needs to be disclosed should be put out now or as quickly as possible, because otherwise the bleeding will not end." (Henry Kissinger)

[Boy, I can think of half a dozen (Mark Sandord leaps to mind) officials who could have benefited from this pearl]

"The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer." (Henry Kissinger)

    [Sad but utterly true]

"While we should never give up our principles, we must also realize that we cannot maintain our principles unless we survive." (Henry Kissinger)

[Interesting how deeply immoral people have used this to commit atrocities in the face of a MUCH lesser enemy than the one Mr. Kissinger was referring to... Sometimes good advice has to be applied in CONTEXT, or the spirit is lost]

"High office teaches decision making, not substance. It consumes intellectual capital; it does not create it. Most high officials leave office with the perceptions and insights with which they entered; they learn how to make decisions but not what decisions to make." (Henry Kissinger)

[Pretty obvious, but somehow people do like to put people who WANT to be placed on a pedastal on the very platform they desired. Maybe we should think a bit more about what KIND of person seeks high office? Mostly borderline Sociopaths I think.]

"Corrupt politicians make the other ten percent look bad." (Henry Kissinger)

[See? Henry can be funny in a strange and soulless kind of way! *rolleyes*]

So, don't get me wrong here, I admire the mind Mr. Kissinger possesess, but he strikes me as someone who doesn't care much for anything beyond tactics and strategy. So, this is not an endorsement of a very questionable political figure, but rather a little bit of fun. Enjoy! Or not... whichever works for yah.

    Who Writes This "Stuff"?!

This is about as far from an epic blog as it is possible to write, but... I have to shaaaaare.

So, I'm watching CNN on mute (the only way I can watchmost TV news), and I see the ticker spewing info on the bottom of the screen. Now, for those of you who don't know, recently a couple of rail cars (the DC Metro) met in less than fortuitous circumstances; i.e. one slammed headfirst into the other. There were fatalities. So, not a funny situation, right?

If you've seen the picks, the leading car of one train has been "collectivized" with the other train's car. In other words... smash. So, what does the ticker say? "Couple on DC Metro 'inseperable' since High School". My mind IMMIDIATLY thought, and I quote, "Well, there's no seperating them now..."

Wow. I'm not sure if CNN was just clueless, or if I had a "Jim Norton" moment and my mind raced several leagues ahead of my empahty, which it does.

So, short story long... I laughed at the image of two High School sweeties mushed together for eternity... this is probably why I enjoyed Hitman: Blood Money a lot more than Mario Sunshine. Maybe.
