Look i'm alive. Thought i'd come do a blog to celebrate the fact. Happy Easter if you do the whole Easter thing. If not, Happy Thursday. Emmm I think i'll post some random stuff now.

Technical support

I worked in technical support at Silicon Graphics about a year ago, and I was part of the group that was first in line to handle problem calls. Oh, joy. Being only eighteen at the time, my experience in the field of technical support was somewhat limited, but I could still handle my own.

Now, as you may or may not know, SGI sells top of the line computers used in many different industries. On average, they're about three times as expensive as personal PCs and are meant to be used by professionals in the industries they're used in.

Anyway, the following call came in:

Customer: "I just received an Onyx yesterday, and I tried to set it up today and it doesn't work."
Tech Support: "It just doesn't boot up?"
Customer: "It doesn't even turn on. I see nothing on the screen, and the fan doesn't even turn on in the back of the system."
Tech Support: "Is the monitor functioning? Is there a little green light in the lower right corner of the monitor?"
Customer: "Yes, there is."
Tech Support: "Ok, is the computer plugged in?"
Customer: (irritated) "Look, I think I know how to set up a system. I'm a college graduate, you know."
Tech Support: "Ok, let me finish typing up this report, and I'll send it off. You will get a reply within one business day."
Customer: (exasperated) "Thank you. Geez, I mean I paid a huge amount of money for this computer. The least you people can do it make sure it works before sending it to me!"

Customer: "I mean, to add to the poor quality control, you even sent me one extra power cord."
Tech Support: "One extra cord?"
Customer: "Yes, it looks just the one I used to plug in the monitor and computer, but that's all you sent to me. I have no use for this other one."
At this point, I thought I should inquire a little more...but use a bit of tact to do so.

Tech Support: "Sir, can you double check the serial number on the back of your computer?"
Customer: "On the back of the computer?"
Tech Support: "Yes, sir."
Customer: (sigh) "All right, all right, hold on..."
I heard a few muffled grunts as he crawled over his desk to see the back of the computer. He repeated the serial number from the sticker. I didn't bother to verify it.

Tech Support: "Thank you, sir. Oh, by the way, can you check to see if the computer is plugged in?"
Dead silence. I could just picture the man's face when he realized that the computer was never plugged in in the first place and that the "extra" power cord he was holding in his hand was for the computer. I didn't wait for a response from him. I thanked him for calling, hung up, and closed the case.

Catch a rabbit

The LAPD, The FBI, and the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.

The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations they conclude that rabbits do not exist.

The FBI goes in.
After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit, and they make no apologies. The rabbit had it coming.

The LAPD goes in.
They come out two hours later with a badly beaten bear. The bear is yelling: "Okay! Okay! I'm a rabbit! I'm a rabbit!"

Cup holder

Caller: "Hello, is this Tech Support?"

Tech Rep: "Yes, it is. How may I help you?"

Caller: "The cup holder on my PC is broken and I am within my warranty period. How do I go about getting that fixed?"

Tech Rep: "I'm sorry, but did you say a cup holder?"

Caller: "Yes, it's attached to the front of my computer."

Tech Rep: "Please excuse me if I seem a bit stumped, it's because I am. Did you receive this as part of a promotional, at a trade show? How did you get this cup holder? Does it have any trademark on it?"

Caller: "It came with my computer, I don't know anything about a promotional. It just has '4X' on it."

At this point the Tech Rep had to mute the caller, because he couldn't stand it.
The caller had been using the load drawer of the CD-ROM drive as a cup holder, and snapped it off the drive.

Duck hunting

He and a friend go duck hunting in winter, and of course all the lakes are frozen. These two guys go out on the lake with their guns, a dog, and of course the new vehicle. They drive out onto the lake ice and get ready. Now, they want to make some kind of a natural landing area for the ducks, something for the decoys to float on.

In order to make a hole large enough to look like something a wandering duck would fly down and land on, it's going to take a little more effort than an ice hole drill. So, out of the back of the nw Navigator truck comes a stick of dynamite with a short, 40-second fuse.

Now, these two Rocket Scientists do take into consideration that they want to place the stick of dynamite on the ice at a location far from where they are standing (and from the new Navigator truck), and they don't want to take the risk of slipping on the ice when they run from the lit dynamite fuse and possibly go up in smoke with the resulting blast. They light the 40-second fuse and throw the dynamite as far away as they can.

Remember a couple of sentences back when I mentioned the vehicle, the guns, and the dog?

Let's talk about the dog: it's a highly trained Labrador used for RETRIEVING. Especially well trained at retrieving things thrown by the owner. You guessed it, the dog takes off at a high rate of doggy speed on the ice and captures the stick of dynamite with the burning 40-second fuse about the time it hits the ice. The two men yell, scream, wave their arms and wonder what to do now. The dog, cheered on, keeps coming.

One of the guys grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with #8 birdshot, hardly big enough to stop a Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused, but continues on. Another shot and this time the dog, still standing, becomes really confused and of course terrified, thinking these two geniuses have gone insane. The dog takes off to find cover, under the brand new Navigator truck..

The men continue to yell as they run away. The exhaust pipe on the truck is still hot, so the dog yelps and drops the dynamite under the truck, and takes off after his master.

Then --BOOM-- the truck is blown to bits and sinks to the bottom of the lake in a very large hole, leaving the two idiots standing there with this "I can't believe this happened" look on their faces.

The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is NOT COVERED. He still had yet to make the first of those $560.00 a month payments!!!

And you thought your day was not going well.

I hope you enjoyed those random stories I found, they made me laugh at least. Now here's a story of my own, this happened about a week ago.

Just to let the non Irish know, Centra is a convenience store, a mini supermarket or whatever, and a chomp is a 20 cent bar of chocolate/candy/whatever.

...Gimme a chomp?!

Annnway my friend's brother works in a centra, and one night he was the only one in the shop, working behind the counter. The shop was empty, til this really shifty lookin guy walks in. The cashier got suspicious when he saw the guy, he was on his guard. Shifty guy sidled up to the counter and said "give me a chomp" so cashier hands him a chomp. The guy handed him 20 cent, the cashier opened the register a tiny bit, dropped in the 20 cent and slammed the register shut. The shifty guy looked a bit confused...and pulled out a knife. "Gimme the money" "sir, I can only open the cash register if you buy something" . . . "gimme another chomp" The cashier did give him another chomp, which was paid for, but before the register could be opened, two cops seeking coffee wandered into the store and proceeded to arrest the guy, who was down 40 cent but up two chomps and a court date.

I dunno how easy my narrative is to follow but I thought that was really funny.

Hey Everybody!

As some of you know I was at "The Beyoncé Experience" in Dublin last night. OMG it was AMAZING! Those who don't even like Beyoncé would have been blown away! We had to drive up to Dublin yesterday morning and drive back down throught the night last night so I am half asleep now, we arrived bak at 3 in the morning. I went with my sister, as we are both crazy Beyonce fans! The doors were at 7, so at 5 o clock we arrived at the concert! When 7 finally came we weere wrecked from standing in the sun. Beyoncé finally appeared at about nine so after 4 hrs of standing we were delighted to finally get to see her! She stayed on for 2 and a half hrs, did every song from her new album, most from her last and loadsa Destinys Child too. She also sang a song from Dream Girls and The Pink Panther! Her dancers were amazing too, she has four (yummy) male dancers and 6 female ones. She has anamazing all female band too, including two saxophonists (dunno how to say that...) and a bassist who can play the bass behind her head. Half the time Beyonce wasn't even siging cause the crowd was so pumped we were belting out every lyric to every song! I know the words to every Beyonce song there is and i sure let her know! Thus the reason that I sound like janice Joplin this morning...oh well! It was so hot in there, people kept fainting...like every tow minutes. The security would just pick their way through the crowd, throw the person over their shoulder and carry them out to the paramedics! Was even funny after a while. So all in all WOW I will never forget that concert it was fantabulous! And really shiny, she changed into a different shiny dress like ten times! And she let us all know that we are Irreplacable I love Beyonce!

Music.

Ah how I love it. Music makes the world go round as far as i'm concerned, it really rocks. I have absolutely no idea where I would be without music. The only thing musically that's annoying me right now is stupid things like age restrictions at concerts. as if people under 18 don't appreciate music! And people drink at every concert so what the hell is the point of restrictions?! It's so stupid. And also what annoys me is that cause I live in the teeny tiny country of Ireland artists never want to do more than two or three nights here, and they only go to Dublin But travelling for three hours is a tiny price to pay for seeing a good concert! Cept the ones i'm not allowed go to.

Next year i'm going Oxygen, Irelands biggest music festival, the age is 17 and i'll be 17 in a coupla months so WOOOO! I'm going to Glastonbury next year too so WOOOOO! The lineup is AMAZING! My brother is going this year and I am unbelieveably jealous But what can you do? I still can't wait for Beyoncé saturday! should be amazing...I want to see Damien Race, The Arctic Monkeys, Justin Timberlake and Faithless but at least i am getting to see BellX1 and Duke Special! Me very happy with the people coming to Ireland this year!

Right now the songs that I can't get enough of are:

Hands Down, Dashboard Confessional! Some track! I have always loved DC but the great Elena aka Ziva David gave me this song and I LOVE it! I listen to it at least 10 times a day Thank you Elle!

The song that makes chills run down my spine and always creeps me out: Stan, Eminem. CREEPY but I can't stop listening to it.

Song that makes me dance and go crazy: Shake That A$$ B***h Booty Bass! and of course No Tomorrow, Orson. Those songs make me go PSYCHO!!

Hey everybody,

I'm not sure what the purpose of this blog is...I think i'll just see what comes to me. It's midnight and i'm tired but I don't want to go to bed. Hmm...do I have anynews? I don't think so...oh I got paid for the first time today! That was brilliant I bought my BellX1 tickets, and I found out that Duke Special is supporting them which ROCKS cause I was supposed to see him last saturday, but the concert was rained out

Another first...I talked as in talking-with-actual-voices-not-a-keyboard with Rachel (no1bean) for the first time yesterday! That was cool. But it was mobile to mobile therefore we could only talk for like a minute! She got skype though I also found out today that my skype phone is brokenThat sucks. But it is probably just an internal problem, but I can't seem to fix it! Hmm....anyone else have news? I'm just ranting here...it's late so no one's on bebo or msn! People are always on tv.com though tv.com rocks. Ever think how many good friends you would never know if it wasn't for this place? Lots.

I have met so many great people here, won't name ye cause it would take too long Ye know who ye are, the people who routinley make me laugh and cheer me up when i'm in one of my moods Which is quite often really! The only sucky thing about tv.com friends is no matter how well we know each other, we won't get to see each other for ages! Fine if you are older but as a 16 year old I can hardly say "mom, i'm just going away to (insert random country) for the weekend to see a friend I have never met and you have never heard of. See ya!" It just wouldn't work. But in a coupla years watch out cause i'm coming to find you people!

Hmm...music...well at the moment i'm listening to everything and anything...Fionn Regan is cool, find him on myspace if you wanna hear some simple, good quality music. I'm listening to Dashboard Confessional too, I always loved their song "As Lovers Go" then Elle (love you hun) gave me "Hands Down" and now there's no stopping me. I love their sound and the sincerity of the lyrics. It's refreshing when so much music trash around today. Don't get me wrong I love modern music but some of it is just BAD!

TV...all I watch at the moment is Scrubs! Every week I rent a new boxset, they are €10 at xtravision and I nearly know them off now! Scrubs rocks though, it's funny yet serious too, it always helps me put things in perspective I can't wait for Prison Break season three, it's gonna rock my socks off Now i'd like to congratulate the people who have made it this far in my blog. well done, it's a rambly one!

I hope everyone is good and happy! I am, tired though. Just watchin Scrubs and falling asleep! The first Cork City Marathon in 20 years was on today, fierce excitement altogether! And no I didn't run it! Longest race i've run is five miles. My sister did a relay though.

Well I finished school yesterday morning so WOOO! It was kinda sad though I must say! Cause we'll be split up next year and two girls went home to Germany and London for good But I do have something to occupy myself! On Sunday I got a call from a restaraunt offering me a job! I was soo happy I started last night, I was wrecked before I went in! I got on fine though...working again tonight!Picture: My year for the last time!

I just watched the two Heroes episodes I missed, but the end of the last one dissapeared somewhere...I have seen up to where Ando and Hiro are back in Japan. so far it rocks though! The last time I blogged I was in a rush so I couldn't post the caption pics but here they are now!

HEY!

Hey everybody, again sorry for my dissapearence, I wanted to be here! Too much to explain but between school trips, computers crashing, ISP being stupid and sheer exhaustion I went into hibernation! I missed you all so much! Between all my trips and stuff I have like 300 pictures but i'm kinda shy and most of them are a STATE so i'll show you a few!

That is a really weird picture of me and my friend Amy in the bathroom on the train to Dublin! That may sound weird but me and my two bestest buds went up and down the train going into every toilet in every carraige and taking pictures! That's KT's reflection in the mirror behind us, if you haven't guessed yet i'm the one stuicking out my tongue

That is a picture of my entire year and as Tommy noticed it's a very small one! There are about 36 of us in total! There we are standing outside some castle somewhere in Killarney! If you wanna know i'm in the middle of the hugging people on the left!

Those of you on bebo will know this picture! There's me hiding in my teacup! My friend KT in the blue hoody, and Tasha behind us! Taken at the outlet centre in Killarney! That was the day after the Dublin trip and the morning of the Cappanalea trip so we are all wrecked! So that's that!

HELLO!

Ths is probably my last blog for a little bit, i'm gonna be busy and will have to spend three days without internet access or phone coverage Sucky! I'm going to Dublin on Thursday, mandatory school thing. Should be fun tho! Then on Friday i'm going to a place called Capinalea which is... i'm not really sure! Basically we're staying there for three days and going kayaking and rock climbing and hill walking and blah blah blah. Again gonna be tiring but fun!

I saw Spiderman 3 yesterday, and it ROCKED! For those who are complaining about it you are taking it too seriously! It's a comic book movie! So just enjoy it! It was a bit of fun, and the cinema I went to was full of little kids who have gotta be the best critics! I'm watching the new Heroes as I type, and so far WOW! Micha has gotta be the best kid ever, he should come to my house and fix my internet connection with his amazing hands!

Hello!

Don't really know what i'm blogging about here...just sick of looking at the last one I suppose! Well I had a nice weekend, I hope everyone else did too! I saw Sunshine today, a really great movie. It has been out for a while and so was only still in one cinema! Cillian Murphy was brilliant in it and even if he wasn't I would still love him cause he's from Cork, just like me! Small place, let us have the glory!

Hello!

I've been lazy about blogs lately so i'll try to make this one good! This is my first blog coming to you from my shiny new laptop! And if my memory serves me correctly it is also my 50th blog! Cool little coincidence!So yes, I did get my laptop and I did get it fixed! I don't have wireless internet on it yet which sucks, seeing as I paid extra for a wireless card and for the router but sure what can ya do! I was talking to "Rohan" from dell for over an hour last night and it turns out it's my internet service providers fault so it should be fixed by Monday night!

 Dunno what else is going on in my life, i'm loving the weather we are having at the moment! It's scorching! Lovely change from all the rain! I gotta go enjoy that too! Now i'm using my laptop, which has none of my files, aka my massive database of stills from Prison Break! So until I get round to transferring i'm gonna do this a little differently. I want you to look at all the people in this picture and tell me what they are thinking! You can do one, or a couple or all if you want! Make it as crazy and weird as you can!
