Gave Resident Evil 5 another shot and Ninja Blade
In a earlier blog I mentioned my problems with Resident Evil 5 and the problems I had with it. Well, I decided to pick it back up and give it a second shot without my friend playing co-op. I rather would have played it co-op with him but so many said this is a good game I wanted to see more of it for myself. I still think the controls are screwed for a game these days but I got used to it after the first chapter with the right set up.I enjoyed the fighting once I figured out shooting the enemies in the leg then killing them with a melee punch worked about the best. Also I figured out I didn't have to kill everything... After that I had fun along the way. The action is pretty over the top in some spots and the boss fights are what I really looked forward to in the end.
Too bad this was a rental I think I could have spent a bit of time leveling things up and running thru it on harder levels. I finished the game and played a few of my favorite chapters over at a harder level with infinite ammo on a magnum. Playing the game again with the new outfits was kinda funny, the cut scenes take on a different vibe with the characters in clubbing outfits.
Maybe when the game price goes down in the future I'll pick it up for my collection.
I took this game back and picked up Ninja Blade, wow what a change in pace after Resident Evil 5. I played through the first couple of chapters and took this back to the video store. Best comparison of this game is to Ninja Gaiden 2 but Ninja Blade is really it's own breed of game.
Someone at the company that made that game reeeeealy likes quick time events. I have discovered after this game that I really don't like quick time events at all. Take em out of all games for all I care... They have QTE for everything from blocking, dodging and boss battles. I started thinking about the old game Dragon's Lair the further they got into this All they needed was a QTE when you used the health spray and that would have been the last bit missing.
Maybe if you liked Ninja Gaiden 2 you would pick this up but I can't even say I would waste a rental on this and no way would I buy it.

Finished up a couple games this past week, Wanted: Weapons of Fate and House of
Weapons of Fate was a fun game for about 5 hours or so, really short. I think it was okay to be so short because any longer and whatever they added would really felt like filler. Wesley in this continuation of the story reeeeealy is cocky during the cut-scenes and almost became annoying. Weird since in the movie he was more a sympathetic character, now he is just a wisecracking killer.
Anyway the special attack of curved bullets was fun for awhile but got boring near the end, kinda wished they had more weapons then the pistols and machine pistols with a sniper/machine turret scene here and there. Don't think this would be great game at full price but $20 in the bargin bin and I might pick it up to run thru the other levels in the different modes like head shot and close up.
If anything playing the game makes me want to pick up some of the comics the movie and game was based off of.
Second game I completed was House of the Dead: Overkill. Had to take over my friends Wii again for a night and we played thru HOD. Pretty short game and most could finish it in about 3 hours, the other 4 days on the rental it just sat on my desk.
I always enjoyed the HOD arcade gun games in the past and think this was probably the best I played. Only thing I didn't like is the game would glitch and no zombies would appear and the game would just sorta stop. Then we would have to restart the level.
I thought it was pretty over the top with the Grindhouse like story and the swearing. I think that has to be the most swearing I have ever heard in a game and it's a Wii game, ha! Also the ending is just wrong... Me and my friend at the end just looked at each other and said what the f@#k?
Great game for a rent and who knows maybe a game to pick up if cheap. Still considering buying that Wii...

Just Finished Eat Lead
You know I went into this game with low expectations and didn't think it was all that bad. The story is cheesy with Matt Hazard being a washed up video game hero making fun of the very video game he is in. I think the game was long enough that this didn't get too annoying. I think one of the funnier lines was when your character tells you he is going to finish things up and get the so and so achievement.
About the achievements, you can't beat getting 60 achievement points for just watching the credits. You don't even have to beat the game to watch the credits either... The game was pretty generous with the achievement points and I think I got 700 or so without really trying to get any of them.
But a couple of things did annoy me during the game, first the aiming was just off. A lot of times I swear I was aiming at the enemy and crosshairs were red but still it didn't seem like I was registering a hit. Second, I died a lot and didn't seem to have a full sense of how close my character was to dying. One time I might just take shot after shot and still live and the other I would peak around the corner and bang. Dead... Frustrating but I kept playing.
Definitely a rent and as for buying it would have to be in a pretty cheap bargain bin.
