Home

as mentioned in my last blog, some of you may remember my father having multiple myeloma which is a cancer in the blood. few weeks ago his health went really bad as he had sugar hypos and weak legs during my first week of holidays so i was stuck at home all of that week till he was supposed to be admitted into hospital to start his bone marrow transplant which was last week. since then im home alone during the day which is a nice change in a way, as im more free to do what i want without being hassled all the time. His transplant hasnt started yet as he has the final and largest dose of chemo left to go, which they had to hold off as he's had blood sugar and blood pressure problems since hes been in hospital, and his heart strength is at 38% capacity which is 2% under recommendation. today he went in to get tests done to see if hes ready to go through with the chemo, and the doctors decide whether they belive he should go home for christmas to rest and get better and do the transplant in the new year. everyone is hoping he'll be home for christmas but he wants it over and done with.

in unrelated news, i got my L permit 2 weeks ago, so ill be driving soon hopefully i dont start thinking its burnout

School

school finished for me a few weeks ago (yay) and i also got my reports today, to everyone else they might think of it as being great, but letter grades arent of concern to me anymore, exam marks are where its all at, and heres what i got;

2B Biology: 57% 52% +5%
2B English: 64% 59% +7%
2B History:80% 69% +11%
2B Science: 68% 69% -1%
2B Maths: 74% 90% -16%
2B philosophy and ethics: 70% 72% -2%

so overall i got 4 A's, a B and a C. only thing im bummed out is english as no matter what i cant get an A, and the teachers always generalise you have to do x to do better, but they dont say how and they dont help, which doesnt help me at all

Gaming

2 trophies from LittleBigPlanet plat, which one i need 4 players and the other is easy and nearly done with MW2 which i hope i will finish both by december 31st. not sure what happens after i finished them though as i dont have any more games i would like to play and im flat out broke for a long while, so maybe time for me to get a job and money?

Everything else

well 2009 is about to wrap up soon, and i have a feeling next year will be even bigger than this year as everything gets hectic as i finish up school, make plans for uni, schoolies, yaer 12 formal, a job, all these new releases coming out, turning 17......its making me anxious and nervous and scared at the same time, but im hoping it all works in my favour.

oh and also just out of curiosity for those still in school, what do you hope to be when you finish high school?

i was intending to post up a blog sunday to mark 4 months since last blog but school work needed attending too and i stayed up till 1:30am the past 2 nights, not such a good thing when you have 4 assignments over the next 3 days

anyway whats happeend in the past four months?

Home Life

well some of you may remember as i tweeted this ages ago, but anyway, my dad found out he has multiple myeloma, which is a sort of rare blood cancer (i think it was 1 in 100,000 or something?). He found it in the early stages thankfully so treatment was an option and he's been through chemo the past few months, unforunately he'll be in hospital for anywhere up to a month while he has bone marrow transplant, which they have planned to start end november/early december which will mean;
a)i'm home alone for 2 weeks till sister finishes school term
b)he may not be home for christmas, making it much difficult to get food and stuff
c)going to have to find ways to get out and about while mums at work during the summer holidays

Hopefully he'll come out ok, as i don't really want to take so much responsibility over my family so young. oh and the most remarkable thing is that he only found out because his shoulder has been playing up. a few years ago he just lost mobility in his arm and physio and treatments didnt work and surgery was the only option but he declined and wanted to wait it out. Blood tests and scans on his shoulder revealed the abnormal protein levels and they found the cancer at really early stages, so one problem help found a bigger problem.

School Life

getting more on my nerves now, teachers are getting picky on marks and just throwing assignments at us, which leaves me little time to RnR. still need to work on writing though as exams are about 4 weeks away and i need to be able to copy what i did last time as i managed to write 13 pages in 3 hours (personal record) and im having writers block at the moment with introductions and conclusions. it seems like everyone is also growing tired of school as 70% of people havent even started assignments when they are due in, and one of my mates who was sorta smart decided to take a few weeks off for no reason, and this is all in the TEE c.lass out of a year size of about 60, 20 are at TEE level and out of those 20, about 5-6 i would expect be capable enough to move onto uni. still kinda scary thinking that this time next year school life is pretty much at its end and we go our seperate ways, which is good and bad in a way.

Gaming Life

since last update i think ive plated 3? games fallout 3, burnout paradise and trine, currently working on littlebigplanet plat, which is getting harder to do as not many people on the online community are that nice and willing to help, but ill get that plat eventually. Modern Warfare 2 next month and hoping to get it on release, but only standard edition (dont have the money to get prestige or hardened). this will be my first ps3 game i payed for thats been more than $40
after that im thinking ill be getting 2 or 3 more games for the year but not sure what to get yet, but it needs to be able to keep me occupied for at least 3 months, so im thinking of getting fifa 10 and maybe tekken 6? or maybe even GoW pack.

Everything else that doesn't fit in

Social life is really going good as im getting out more, but relying on cheap places and not buying much to survive but one of the major issues im currently facing is the need of getting a job. Friends want me to get a job, parents want me to get a job and i need money but dont want a job. its really hard to decide as im slack and dont know if ill be able to cope with school and work. im more of a do it over time and at own pace and not rush everything kinda guy, and if i had a job it would be no rest work work work, chores, homework then games. but the benefit is i have money to spend. plus on top of that my friend wanted us to go to melbourne and go on a cruise to tassie for schoolies which is a great idea as i dont like the idea of going to packed areas, where you'll find nothing but idiots, drunk idiots, drugs and.....yeah you get the point, bad thing is though might need anywhere up to $2000 for the 1-2 weeks which ill only be able to get if i have a job

But yeah its something i'm going to need to sort out soon. question to anyone reading this, is it beneficial to get a job for year 12 or wait out another year before getting one to focus more on school work and whats the base pay average for a 17 year old?

Oh and i just remembered, at monday 12am i start gaming hiatus which goes though till november 27th to give time for study and exams. also i may/may not post as frequent but may be just lurking, but i'll go on the ps3 occasionally to monitor my levels on LBP to make sure they get all the hearts i need for the trophy

Game Wise:

finished bioshock on survivor which got me my second platinum (yay), got lazy towards the end and didnt kill like 6 big daddies . now to work through fallout 3, im thinking of aiming to completeing 2 quests a day at least so i should have nearly got the plat in 2 weeks which is the beginning of holidays in time to start next game. i might go for an easy game like burnout or uncharted as ive decided from next term o limit game time to friday nights, saturday and sunday and put more time into homework and its probably best for me to hit the cyclist machine thingy each day instead of games so i can really bring out the claws for next exam and next year

ummm.... what else, finally hit lv 23 and chronicles of riddick AD should be here tomorrow or early next week (hopefully)

thats enough of my rave and rant, so how have we all been this week?

today i had the most unfortunate news of a family member passing away today just before going to school (not that easy to restrain any evidence of anything wrong) so over the weekend or so ill probably wont be on much but may lurk a bit i'm up to it and probably will be on and off during the week as i would have to catch up missed work i will miss on friday as we will be at the funeral. That day also happens to be my sisters birthday and she is also having a party on sunday so ill be busy with cleaning and such and just secluding myself from the pack of girls. Also this would be a good time to get back into trying to set what my goals are as i am all over the place at the moment and im not sure what to do.

Alright where to begin

Yesterday after a week of absolutely enduring hour after hour, rocket spammer after rockect spammer, i finally got my Valor Grand Cross trophy along with the other 2 trophies and i get to show off my top 1% ribbon thingy at game night tomorrow hopefully modern warfare 2 hasnt got online trophies that require you to get into the leaderboards again ast it was absolutely crazy.

Sunday night i completed my rubix cube puzzle after 2 or 3 years i finally gave up and used a solver to help, shhh dont tell anyone though. still trying to figure out how to get beyond the bottom layer without messing it up

and lastly today is the last day of the school holidays so back to school tomorrow and i have a letter and essay to write up tonight to hand in. exams are in 6 weeks and im not looking forward to them and more time will have to be dedicated to study so ill probably only post now and then and also spend less time on the ps3

well according to the date i registered my ps2 on the sony site, it marks 5 years ago today i got it (same day i got a GBA i won in a competition ) and at xmas it will be my ps1's 10th bday ahh the memories of how my gaming has slowly evolved.

finally got dr robotnik's mean bean machine trophy today after about 30 minutes of constant saving and select button mashing let me tell you if any of you have sega mega drive collection trophies or achievements to get that one is probably the hardest (no wonder its gold). so far 3 gold, 1 silver and 15 bronze. might go back and forth on killzone2 and sega trophies to get an even balance, and i wont even try the PAIN trophies as most of them you need to buy the content in it which im not doing

i also finished half of my medic class, just need to heal 5 people per game 7 times to complete it and i also unlocked engineer class (yay for turrets) and headsets on there are hilarioius, ive heard a guy singing and heard 2 absolutely brake down into swearing and screaming after killing both of them as they were disfusing the bombs, ahhh good times. also im not sure what to get next, whether to buy CoD4 GOTY edition, or buy headset/contoller or another game first since i have a a good FPS to finish first

well this week was absolutely massive for me. lets start from sunday

sunday:

went to the movies with a friend to see the unborn, it was boring, confusing but still scared me (i cant stand looking at mirrors now) after the movie i came so close to winning an ipod nano or ds on those machines in the lobby twice

Wednesday:

caught the train to gateways to go buy a ps3 at big w by myself. instead of getting it at big w i got it at jbhifi as it was technically better. went home and i swear this guy was looking at me as if he was going to beat me up for it. luckily he was a bit tipsy (smelt the beer on him) and he got off the stop before mine. The PS3 continues my playstation life with a a new ps every 5 years (ps2 5th birthday in a week). i must say its the most expensive item i personally own now and its absolutely fantastic, cant wait for my library to grow

friday:

the night of nights, our ball. the night was filled with fun, laughter, photos, dancing and winding down. sadly i didnt have a date but oh well, i still had fun. but the most interesting part of the night was probably the end of the ball as it was quite funny and really revealing. firstly we found the limo to have its window smashed, the door bent from someone trying to open it with a crowbar and the stereo missing and apparantly blood on one of the glasses in the back. so the theif tried to force his way in, but smashed the window stole the stereo and took a drink while he was at it and then after well, me and this girl of whom i am good friends with, had a disscussion about feelings etc. and lets say tiredness brings alot of things out of people and people say things they would have had kept secret any other time.

i wonder if there will be a week that can top this weeks, hmmm

well its tuesday and sony's "big" announcment, and turns out to be exactally what i didn't want..... a ps2 pricecut to make it less than $100 USD. no mention of any price cuts from eb games in the near future as well so thats a bummer. oh well thats done and dusted, so now i have enough money to get a ps3 (YAY) after like 6 months of saving up from fornightly allowance (wasn't easy) so tomorrow after school im heading off to big w to get the killzone 2 bundle and buying CoD4 GOTY edition at JBHIFI. so fingers crossed they actually have a bundle left (i should be able to pricematch at EB with catalogue right?) and hopefully you'll have another psn id to add oh and maybe i'll post a board about anything i need to get, what to do etc. and also the timing couldnt be better, just finished all my assignements up yesterday and hoping we dont get anything due next week

for those who read kotaku today, you would have found the blog post that sony has told kotaku that they are announcing something on the 31st. now this is the first official announcement announcement that sony have said. So far we've had analysts talking about price cut this month, $398 40GB ps3s at big w sold out, a hoax for a cut on the 22nd, info of a new bundle in NA coming out the 29th and now a mysterious announcement on the 31st. in the midst of the upcoming announcement, i was planning on getting a ps3 the same day and CoD4, so now i shall wait to see what happens. im hoping for a nice price cut, but if its just a bundle announcment or a psp and ps2 cut, i will cry well i will keep an eye on catalogues to see if they drop in the information early, and hoping there is still at least one killzone 2 bundle at big w and a copy of CoD4 at jbhifi on wednesday, if there isnt any left, then i shall send my dogs with bees in their mouth after sony

in unrelated news i scored 54 kills- 8 deaths in Dome today, and im downloading FEAR multiplayer game thingy for free off their site. hopefully this is better than halo, then i can play it at school

well its getting close to the time where apple releases its new cycle of ipods for this year and recently they have announced their new ipod shuffle.

smaller than a AA battery, and 4GB's memory allows 1000 songs to be stored on a a weird clip sorta thing, but what got me thinking is how they have made it to work.

by making it that small they removed the buttons and they have also threw in their new earphones with button controls on the earpiece to change song etc.

BUT since you can only change song with the controls on the earphones, doesn't that mean you are locked into buying apple only earphones with the control scheme on them? hopefully this is only kept to the shuffle and isnt put into future ipods as this is what may cost them. thankfully my ipod touch is still going good and im in no hurry to go get a new one.

So this is my second crossing with apple in the past month, where consumer money is highly wanted, but customer satisfaction and service seems to be out the door,

oh btw after viewing the guided tour video it also seems they are trying to promote mac's as well with the ipod, by giving two different tones to the voice over thingy. the pc voice sounds more muffled then the mac voice (well thats what it sounded like to me) i think apple are really trying to push their brand further now by making ipods only work with apple products or better at least.

anyway if you get time to read it and/or watch the video and see if i was correct in the different tones that were trying to promote mac then post your opinions.

some of you may have realised i was missing the past 2 days and wondered where i went, well i was at a UN camp. The UN camp was supposed to teach us how the UN works etc. and how we debate. it had its highs and lows but majority of it were low;

• bus smelt bad, had stains, was falling apart, aircon filled with dust, we found a tube of toothpaste that looks like it has been there for a while
• camp was in the middle of no where
• nothing to do during free time
• dorms sucked, we were with people we didnt know, they were outdated, the beds looked bad, the sheets were annoying, no aircon or powerpoints, speakers were blow and produced bad bas s.
• hot during day and night, freezing cold and windy in the morning
• showers looked really dodgy
• kangaroo poo everywhere
• oval was patchy and lumpy
• no cooked food for meals and they were tiny portions
• river was dried up
• no camp fire songs
• waking up at 7am to some really lame song
• bunk beds had no ladders to get to top bunk
• doors were dodgy
• sitting in a UN general assembly for 3 hours straight for 2 days
• listening to speakers talk for nearly 2 hours ( i nearly fell asleep)
• some of the guys with us were,well how would i put it "swung for the other team" or so it seemed
• we werent prepared except the private schools
• trip to the meeting place, then to camp= 2 hours travel
• being away from all sources of technology for 3 days
• no sleep in on my weekend

Overall camp was alright but kinda weird, and now i have to catch up on sleep, a real shower, a good toilet and real food ive been away from for 2 days. oh dam im back to school tomorrow as well

today we went out to go try on suits for my school formal in april and i asked to go to big w on the way back to see if i can get the 40GB ps3 for $398 that ive heard so much about. We went to Phoenix Shopping centre in Spearwood, and i asked the guy at the counter and he was suprised it was at that price, but unfortunately none left, although he did sound like he would sell me an 80GB for that price but he didnt. next stop was to Gateways in ****burn (pronounced co-burn for all you eastern australians), went to the chick at the home entertainment section and asked, luckily she knew what i was talking about and looked at the back to see if it was the same price. i hoped there was at least one left but sadly no. so unfotunately no ps3 or killzone 2 today which is a bummer.

its been 2 weeks since the clearance started so my guess, and im really hoping it happens, that there will be a pricecut in the next week or so and it drops to the $500-$550 range, makes perfect sense to sell as many 40GB's as possible at the highest price they can, since the 40GB price will drop as well, and they are better of bringing them back and putting a bigger HDD in or sell it as a refurbished one. so i guess the wait is about 2 weeks for me if a cut is announced (at camp next week) or unless someone knows where there are a few left in the metropolitan region south of the river, then ill be happy

about 9 days ago apple ripped me off by saying i owe them money when i clearly shouldnt have and how they allowed a prepaid card as payment when they allowed the details to be put in.....well 9 days later apple decided to pull their head out of their *** and i believe it went through as i got a reciept and was unbanned from the store. Just in time too as i was about to go buy an itunes card tomorrow to pay it off, so i would have been out of about $20. well its finally over and im going to buy a new pair of apple headphones tomorrow hopefully if sanity sells them and now i have a fair few of application updates piled up to download.

in other news im suprised treyarch gave WaW on the wii two new modes, hardcore free-for all and team survival (1 life, no Hud, no killstreaks and no perks) tis a shame though as i might be picking up a ps3 tomorrow hopefully

Finally i turned 16 today WOOOO, and let me say it was......errr interesting.

I was expecting to have dead arms by the end of the day but suprisingly i can still move them. Also got happy birthday wishes from like almost everyone in my class (what can i say im loved ) and prezzies. Well not much but better than nothing

from friend number 1 i got a block of chocolate to say thanks for helping her with her homework last night.

from parents i got $100, which is going towards a ps3, which i might be able to get the 40GB clearance at big w on the weekend, fingers cross

got a zebra cake from the cheesecake shop, which was vanilla and chocolate sponge with cream and strawberry jam

the girl i like said happy birthday as well

recieved my double pass from being runner up in the spirit movie competition (last minute changes resulted in the tickets being to see my bloody valentine in 3D, which is R18+ and im 16 o_0)

but the higlight of the day and so far in my 16 years alive would be gift from friend number 2......

she got them for me because i told her one of my new years resolutions was to see katy perry and ashley tisdale in a jelly wrestling competition, and she thought this would embarass me, so she got me it, only to find out i didnt get embarrased

The past week has been very delighful as it seems my bad luck streak ive had for ages has seem to disappear, that was until the little mishap with apple yesterday.

Friday the 13th
everything seemed to be fine and no bad luck whatsoever, and it seemed nobody remembered that it was friday the 13th so i couldnt freak anyone out...maybe next month. Also i managed to pay $3.70 for a $5 sandwhich at the canteen that day and we got our biology results from our first assesment and i scored 9.3% out of the 10% weighted score so that was my first two strokess of luck

Valentines day
My least favourite holiday. The years of rejection and failure come back to haunt me on this year every year as i see happy couples everywhere. I also sent a valentines txt to this girl i like (the same one who i wanted to go to the ball with) and so i kept hoping for a reply back and hoping not to have a reply back all night, until she didnt say anything back. I also had one of the best Call of duty online games that day, average of 30-40 kills a game with about 8 or so deaths without using mp40 on TDM

Monday
the girl i sent that txt to finally said thanks for it and kinda giggled (on windows live messenger) and according to one of her friends she also said it was kinda cute to. So my third stroke of luck for the week

Tuesday
got my work marked in history about "the pursuit on happiness", got excellent and best one out of the Cla.ss and was also told by the teacher some of us will enter a debate competition soon and she has thought about the pairs breifly and she put me and that i happen to like together, and she seems happy about it. Also got about 50c of some food i bought at the deli because the person behind the counter couldnt be bothered counting out the right change i also taught my friend how to connect the wii and her ipod touch to the net after having them both for over 6 months and not realising they could connect to the net so i might be able to fiinally add a local person to play against so fourth and fifth stroke of luck

Today:
got to sleep in an extra hour again yay and now one week off from my 16th birthday. Played On hardcore today using two different ****s of mosin-nagant BA and type 99 MG. First time ever i got 31 kills and 3 deaths on 2 bars and less wifi, and managed to get a bunch of 7 kill streaks to release the dogs using type 99. i was absolutely proud until i entered a different host game where i had 1 bar and everyone else had 4 and i got absolutely slaughtered. 40+deaths in 2 games. the most annoying thing was either i die right after i spawn, i kill some guy and his teammate comes out of nowhere to kill me, wasting rounds on target since of the lag, an mp40 sprayer and just about to get a stealth kill with BA at close range until all of a sudden they get recon plane and turn around and stab me.

well thats my week wrapped up, hopefully the luck continues for the rest of my lifetime, or at least to my birthday at least hoping parents would get ps3 for me, but i doubt they would spend that much on me after spending so much for our year 11 ball even if i just get money i still might be able to get one myslef in june which thankfully is after my exams so i can have 2 weeks to myself but thats ages away and i want to play a bigger better version of CoD or killzone 2 Oh well one can still keep dreaming of that ps3 he has always wanted

well i just had to post this since i am fuming over what apple have done. Anyway here i go

Some may recall i was asking about good ipod applications for the ipod touch the other day, since i have $10 on a prepaid visa to spend before it expires. So that day i decided to buy crayon physics and Arvale. I enter the pre-paid visa's details etc for my account, and it goes through. So then i purchase the games everything goes fine. It wasnt till yesterday when i was about to download a free update for jellycar straight to ipod, when it says error with account please login to check details. So today i do that. And to my suprise i see that i owe apple $9.98. So i enter the cards details again in case if something wrong happened. everything was right but this time when i hit submit it comes up "this form of payment is not accepted please try another" i try again same thing happens, so i look at terms of sale. To my suprise they added they do not accept pre-paid gift cards from banks now. On top of that they charged me a $1 transaction for the whole thing. So now im banned from downloading anything off itunes until i pay that $9.98. I know they've updated terms and conditions a few times in the past few months, but they dont say what has changed without you having to read all of the T&C. But i must say if they didnt accept it in the first place why didnt they stop me when i typed the details in rather than tell me after i finish the purchase and also charge me $1 to a payment they say they cant use.I guess i cant do much except go buy an itunes card to pay it off soon and find somewhere else to spend the now $9 on the pre-paid visa. So a warning to those out there, read the fine print before you do something and be careful. Well that was this week's utter angry moment, ill be back tomorrow to post the rest of my joyus week up until this moment

first week back at school in year 11 wasnt the best of starts and probably my most unluckiest week this year so far. Lets see where do i begin

1)Teachers keep going on about us needing to study and we have no real holidays until mid year and end of year due to use needing to study, so a lot less gaming

2) the girl i wanted to take to the ball was asked out by another guy and she said yes on the second day back, kinda crushed and wondering why everyone is making a big deal with it being 2 months away.

3)Had my first unfortunate suspension on gamespot yesterday, and im back to level 19 again

4) parents said we can use the money from the government to go on holiday or get a new tv. I havent been on a holiday in ages and i want a new telly, really tough decision

5)sister been on my nerves lately

6) being constantly chased by mp40 sprayers on CoDW@W while trying to beat Bolt action rifle challenges

7) im listed as a female on my SIDE course

but i guess this week had its highlights also

1) cat puked all over my sisters bed this morning

2) one of my subjects, all we have to do is make our most imaginative answer and we could still get A's

3) might be able to get ps3 with government money if my sister gets a new laptop or computer

4) finally got to lv 65 in CoD and ran around with a flamethrower, still got attacked by those darn mp40 sprayers

5)first week of school just about done

6)slept in till 8 this morning since i dont start till second period

well thats my week wrapped up, i hope things can pick up from here, next blog will probably be around friday the 13th or vaentines day

well the 6 week break was finally over and boy did it fly past. school was back in session and it was a bit different with me being in year 11 and year 10's moving up into our building. Nothing overall interesting until we moved off to first period

first period was english with this teacher whos been around for awhile, kinda of had a sense of humour but he also scared us by saying how some girl he tutored and how she worked hard etc and got 98.5% and didnt make it into her selected university course and how we were now competeing against the top private schools when they have the upper hand of actually working for the past 2 years after school

2nd period we had science. our teacher was a blast. he was really random and over dramatic which we never have had a teacher like that for years so its good to have such a character teaching us.

period 3 & 4 werent as great since we actually had to do work on the first day. maths was kinda easy and most of us were excited/bummed out that thursdays we miss first period maths and might be able to start later but at the cost of staying back monday to do the period then. i would like the extra bit of sleep on thursday but dont want to stay back.

period 5 was biology and the same message was sent out "STUDY HARD OR FAIL" me and a mate were at the back mucking around being stupid and didnt get introuble and another plus is that me and him are the only guys in the class and the rest are girls

friday i have a free period to do what i want (yay), year 11 ball april the 3rd, work starts tomorrow and courses go for 2 terms with 7 assignments+exams per subject, so it looks like ill be holding out on a job till at least june that is if i can get everyting under hand so no ps3 till that time at least unless a nice pricecut that i predict to happen next month and have to buy games off a fortnightly allowance

the next two years are going to be tough, much more tougher than taking out mp40's with a rifle at close range, with no back up and the only way is forward. So i guess i can say...
