When life says you will never win...

you must learn to say I always win. This is the key to achieving personal victory.

We have these desires, and society begs us to act on them but when we do, so often we fall apart because of physical limitations. This is why; the best you can expect from anyone is for them to try their hardest. Its human nature to strive for greatness, often times greatness is determined by competition, but beware of your own competitive nature because although it may bring out the best in you, it may as well and just as easily bring out the worst in you.

When you compete always compete against yourself, in other words how can you push yourself beyond your expectations, what can you do to increase your intensity?

Winners get prizes and prestige but what about all those that came up short despite amazing effort? How about all those that constantly struggle to achieve something, regardless of their disadvantages, should their efforts go unrewarded? Never! They should be praised. Life takes a great deal of effort. and to accomplishing anything can become a tremendous task, that is why we must encourage and celebrate everyone who gives it their all.

Too much emphasis is placed on winning and super achievements, when heart and determination are the real crowning jewels of greatness. Winners are not always the best and losers should never be considered the worst. The worst are the ones that achieve victory through alterior methods. The worst are the ones that give little to no effort and think they can't be beaten.

My TV review of Survivor

Survivor

The epic adventure that started it all, this is the Mecca of reality television upon which all other reality shows should be judged..
Once upon a time..On an Island far far away...SURVIVOR

In the beginning there was 1 man, in the beginning there was Jeff Probst. From that day forward he would serve as the ritualistic overseer and naysayer of all events to come, and who better ? But even before there was Jeff, 1 man had a vision, That man was Mark Burnett the father and perhaps greatest pioneer of reality tv, and that vision was to create a show brining unique individuals together and force them survive harsh environments while at the same time compete for dominance amoung the group, because in the end there can be only one. What he proposed was possibly one of the biggest social experiments captured on film and would inevitable go down in annuls television history. The shows theme was simple and perfect, Outwit,Outplay,Outlast.

His concept was brought to life starting in 1999 when 16 ordinary but interesting Americans were cast upon an island miles and miles away from civilization, stranded with only a small group of people and the elements, the biggest question became how would they survive? Once rules, settings, and personalities were established, the show took on a less social nature in return for a more political one. Although strong physical aspects were well represented, curiously those with a more strategic mindset proved to have the advantage.

Survivor soon earned its credibility and attracted a large international audience.
Back then little did anyone seem to know how it would serve as a catalyst for the incredible surge of reality shows in the future.

The first Season was an instant ****c with unforgettable moments and a warm colorful cast. The follow up was much anticipated and failed to disappoint, as the 2nd Season reached new heights of popularity and overall outdid the previous.

Many, many more Seasons would follow and each one delivering something new and surprising. For years Survivor would continue to dominate as one of the most well received and prolific shows of its time, winning several awards and honors.

To this day, coming close to its 10 year anniversary Survivor remains as entertaining as ever, and the way I see it has no signs of stopping. But what really makes Survivor such a big and influential show? That's tough to say because there are so many interesting factors that contribute to its success. However, I can describe some of the key aspects that have always been a crucial part of what makes Survivor so very much worth while. Social Dynamics: Men and Women of all races and professions gathered together, struggling together, yet at the same time driven to conspire against each other. Human Drama was bound to unfold, and it has, to the utmost.

Real Life Adventure: Surround by nothing but ocean and wilderness, all of what they once knew has left them. Instead they must find comfort and make the land their home regardless of what danger it presents.

Nature displayed with full disclosure: All manor of beasts and creatures that roam freely through out the jungle are featured in their natural habitat, most common are rats, snakes and lizards, but sometimes even Bats, Spiders, Boars, Lions, Tigers, and Bears..Oh yes.

Challenge; Survivor has always given the contestants not only a grueling physical challenge but a highly mental and emotional one as well forcing the winner to truly earn the 1 million dollar grand prize.

Emotion; Viewers witness the entire gamut of emotions. Often these people are tested so hard that they breakdown and submit, unable to endure any more suffering. The Survival aspect combined with the political aspect really pushes them to the brink of insanity, leading to all sorts of madness. The shows display of emotion is what really gives it heart and encourages us to give our best to the ones we love.

I feel like Survivor has had quite an impact on society and pop culture, and is responsible for brining the word Alliance into a greater spotlight. I also think it has effected the way people think about social dynamics overall.

Survivor is a show that you can enjoy with just about anyone, due to its wholesome and
Fun filled nature.

Recently the show has become more of a treasure hunt, with the possibility of finding an individual immunity idol, adding even more exploration and suspense to the adventure.

Survivor has definitely given us some outstanding moments, who could forget when Mike Scupin tragically burned his hands or when Johnny Fairplay told everyone his grandma died when in fact she was safe at home. There have been so many different and outlandish personalities in the shows long running history. From those you love ( Elizabeth H, Rupert, Yao man ) and those you love to hate (Richard Hatch, Jerry Manthey, Johnny "Fairplay" ) just to name a few.

To many, Survivor might be just another game show, but to so many others Survivor represents life and its greatest ups and downs. When it really comes down to it, life is a survival but survival is always dependant upon others, just as demonstrated in the show.

I think Survivor is a in a leauge above the rest and will continue to inspire and entertain us for a long time, until someday the torch is finally snuffed.

Anime Film Review: Paprika

Paprika C 2006

Satoshi Kon's film adaptation of popular Japanese novel Paprika, written by a famous and successful Japanese author. Kon's great attention to real life detail, is exhibited in each of his projects and very much so in Paprika.

This film is loaded with vivid color, surreal lighting effects, and environments that truly explore the depth of existence. Each scene and detail beautifully animated, in a unique way which Kon has really made his signature.

Very adventurous in nature, Paprika is a highly imaginative story about the subconscious. With the high production value and consistency that you've come to expect from today's top animated films.

Kon hand drew 1046 single frames of storyboard which took him a little over a year and a half to complete. Almost ever aspect of the film was overseen by Kon including the voice recording, which he also lended his voice for one of the characters.

Audio and visuals work wonderfully together, although the storyline appears far fetched and hard to follow, making it a deeply thought provoking fiction fantasy of grand proportions.

A simple theme describing the core the plot could be stated as What Happens when a dream merges with other dreams becomes uncontrollable and begins seeping into reality? This idea is expanded upon through out the film.

The characters consist of all adult professionals, all of them having a relation to each other and play a significant part in the story. With each of these characters, the creator has managed to avoid stereotypes, and give them each a uniqueness and certain relate ability. Instead of using the straight forward approach of defining Heroes and Villains by way of right vs. wrong, each characters motives are used to determine a more complex organization.

Paprika is overall a rich and intriguing tale that you will need to watch more than once to really grasp and appreciate its meaning, however the harder you try to comprehend its true message, the sooner you'll realize that it's simply open to interpretation.

3 out of 5 stars.

Statistical Comparisons

Okay all you math geeks this is the BIG moment youve all been waiting for, get out your shiny new calculators, its time to do some comparisons here. Thats right Im talking about statistical analysis Ohh yeahh. Can you possibly think of a more entertaing way to spend a Sat night? I sure cant...

Ok all kidding aside, The whole point of this blog entry is to stimulate comments from you guys, because I really want to hear opinions, about all sorts of topics. But todays topic is..Mathematics, or more specifically, Statistics.

So what i want to know is..how important are statistics to you? How much attention do you give them? Lets say youre a sports fan, do you find yourself often comparing win loss records or all time records? Perhaps your a gamer and your always competing for the highest score or fastest time, to what extent do you study results?

Some people have a high tolerance for loads of mathematical data while others look at all those numbers and just say "who cares?" and "this is so boring" At some point it just becomes an endless amount of meaningless numbers. Isnt it strange how people's minds work differently? Is that why geniuses are sometimes criticised as "Nerds" because other people just can't realte to them and vice versa?

Me I like to compare stats, but after a while i just get really sick of it and ask myself, just what the heck does it all mean? I think its human nature to push away from mathematical thinking, we werent designed to process large quantites of numbers repetitively.Thats what seperates us from machines, our minds have the ability and desire to create and be creative. That is true human nature which can never be duplicated by a machine.

I just think so often in life, We become obsessed with numbers, like with sales. Yes its true we can learn some things from studying statictics and make basic predictions but, I just feel like statistics are over used and over emphasied. Its always fun to do a sort of comparison but the more in depth you go the less important it becomes.

Thats why I believe that creative minds should be celebrated and rewarded more, than those who punish themselves by crunching numbers. It is that type of thinking that lands us right back at the same spot we started from, which is confusion. Confusion can lead to paranoia and constantly comparing numbers can easily lead to obsessive compulsive dissorder.Sometimes the more we think we understand ,the more things we discover that we really dont understand. In this way of thinking More can actualy equal less.

To truly reach the next level of greatness, you should try to think outside the box,but society is often afraid of change, and people with extreme beliefs and ideas are shunned. In the future i hope all of you take the time to listen and consider before discarding what could be one of the most revolutionary ideas ever.

Anyway, I think most people just look at statistics to try and prove something, but they really only prove 1 thing..themselves. The Statistic can only prove the Statistic. sadly creating facts and determining truth is a very difficult science. thats why Opinions are so important, its the best we as humans have to offer. So let your Opinion be heard loud and clear with detail and emphasis and heres hoping that your thoughts are echoed and remembered forever more throughout the endless span of time.
