On life-like graphics versus great visual style.

This is a massive debate, that everyone seems to have wildly different opinions on. So, life-like graphics or great visual style? My belief is that games that have great visual style are vastly superior to games that look realistic. This opinion may shock some, but I stand by it. Just look at games like Okami. Its surreal Japanese art style sucks you in and weaves a spell over you. Realistic visuals however, while thay may look great, don't hold you quite as much. Take, for example, COD: Modern Warfare. It looked completely amazing when it came out, and it still does, but we all know that one day another game will come along that looks better. Then who will remember the visuals of COD:4, the second-most realistic game ever? This is not the case with a game like Okami however. People still commend it for its striking looks, even after the 3 or so years since it was originally released. This may sound like a lot of ranting and raving, but my point is that, while both styles of art are great, visual designers should start making more games like Okami. While it would have been good even without it's visual flair, it's Japanese aesthetic made it one of the most memorable games of the PS2 era.
