MegaBlog
Let me show you the world in my eyes...

So I've come to realise lately that I hardly have any friends on PSN. This is probably because I hardly do any online gaming. But with the exception of wildcat2000, it seems like nobody else from my small handful of friends is ever online. This makes me feel like I'm the only person who actually regularly plays video games and that just won't do.
Long story short: Add me on PSN, you goons! My PSN name is also megagene.
Just leave me a little note letting me know you're from Gamespot.

So look at that. I just noticed that I leveled up today. Now I'm Level 68: Song of Nephilim. I've never played any of the Xenosaga games before so this level name doesn't mean much to me, but it's still nice to be one step closer to level 70.
On an unrelated note, has anyone else noticed that all the top 10 lists of games (both on the front page and respective platform pages) have gone missing? Am I just crazy/blind? Can someone enlighten me? I know it's petty, but I like to know what games are most popular with the users of this site. I guess I'm just used to it...
Also Max Payne 3 is freakin' awesome.

So what's up with that Gamespot Fuse? Do any of you guys and gals use Fuse? Should I be using it? Any advantages/disadvantages to using it? Dear friends, I need your input please!
I've clicked on it before and it looked pretty neat, but I always quickly back out of it because I'm afraid that if I Fusify my profile I won't be able to go back to the old one.

Oh yeah, and I've also hit that level with the secret cow.

I'm Winner! It only took a year and two months, but ****ing Easter Egg is finally behind me. *tears of joy*
On the gaming front, my life has been consumed for the past few weeks by Skyrim. My life is separated basically into two parts: playing Skyrim, and not playing Skyrim. I honestly don't know what I'll do after I finally beat this game. I'll probably play Skyrim again.
Haven't posted much in the forums since the ToS overhaul (largely in part due to Skyrim). It'll be interesting adapting to the new rules. I've gotten so good at being a subtle asshat that I hardly remember how to be in your face anymore. Maybe that's a good thing. Subtlety is something of an artform.
k. Brb. Skyrim.
Be cool my babies.

Soooo, I've been level 64: Easter Egg for over a year now. I have been active on this site the whole time and have not lost any points due to moderation. IS THIS NORMAL?
Also, for those of you who are gaming masochists, I highly advise Dark Souls. That game has been thoroughly kicking my ass. In a good way.

So in my last blog you may recall that my PS3 Slim got the Yellow Light of Death only a mere 8 months into its pathetically short life. Well luckily for me, it just happened to be originally purchased at Costco. Turns out they have the best return policy in the world. Aside from a few select electronics (fortunately NOT including video game consoles), anything you purchase there has a life time guarantee. So all I had to do was dump my dead PS3 on the counter with the receipt and BAM! I got a shiny brand new 250 GB slim PS3 just like that. No questions asked. Better yet, the one they gave me was a bundle, so I ended up getting two games (Little Big Planet GOTY, and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction) for free. FREEEE!!!
Now I admit that I am a Costco n00b. This stuff is probably common knowledge to many of you. But for those of you who were ignorant like me... Moral of the story: If at all possible, purchase at Costco.

So my beloved PS3 SLIM (250GB) got the freakin' YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH today. It isn't even 8 MONTHS OLD. So much for the redesign not inheriting the problems of the fatty.

I'm not really sure what to do at this point since I've never had something like this happen to me before. My PS2 still runs like the day I bought it (as does my SNES which I purchased in 1991) and I've never had a 360 so I never had to worry about the RROD. Do I mail it somewhere? Do I bring it into my local Sony Style store and start yelling at people? Sony will fix this for free, yes? My console is less than a year old.

Someone hold me.

So a couple days ago there was an earthquake that shook up Toronto a little bit. I was in bed at the time and it felt like an ogre was shaking my building.
And then today everyone had to evacuate the Eaton Centre (the mega-mall where I work) because someone had tweeted that there was a machine gun wielding maniac on the roof. With the G20 happening right now, they're not taking ANY chances. For example, here is a photo of a typical downtown street today. My friend took it with his camera phone.

Seems like a slight case of overkill, no?
Needless to say, it's a real pain in the ass getting around.

Welly welly well. I have finally hit level 63: Big Smoke. I like the name of this level because "Big Smoke" is the nickname of my city, Toronto. To my knowledge, this is the slowest moving level and makes level 20 look like Speedy Gonzales. To give you a rough idea, I actually became this level three days ago and I'm still at 0%. LJS, you weren't kidding when you said I'd catch up to you. I'm pretty sure this is the level in which we will both die.
On the gaming front, I am about two thirds of the way through Grand Theft Auto IV. After I finish it I need to decide whether I should play Assassin's Creed II or Bayonetta next. So far I am thoroughly enjoying my PS3 and new TV.

Well folks, it has been a long time coming, but I have finally gotten myself an HDTV (LG 32" LCD 1080p) and a PS3 (250 GB Slim). It's like seeing everything through a new and improved set of eyes.

So far I have only bought GTA IV since I'm a pretty big fan of the series. But eventually I want to get Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Yakuza 3, FF13, Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock. Movie wise I think my first purchase will be Star Trek on Blu-ray since it was probably my favorite movie of 2009.
Let the games (in HD) begin!

Well boys and girls. I have hit my second GS posting milestone. After four years of being moderately active on the site, I have finally hit 20K posts. Now while I will be the first one to admit that many of those posts probably lacked quality/tastefulness or were subject to moderations, I have to say that first and foremost, those posts are because of you, my friends and fellow users who have kept me entertained and continue to do so.
Hopefully I'll be able to make another similar blog post in another couple of years.
Cheers.

...Except for you, LJ. You beat me to it. Stupid moderations...>_>
Anyhoo, after years of GameSpotting, I have finally reached level 60: Master Chief! As many of you know this has always been my primary goal in life. If I were to die tomorrow, I would die a happy man. If I get banned, it's okay. I accomplshed my life's mission. Some people aspire to amass great wealth or marry the love of their life. Not me. I always just wanted to be level 60. That momentous occasion has arrived. Time to drink many beers and then run around town lighting fires until I burn this whole damn city to the ground. Let this day be indelibly etched into the annuls of time!

Well folks, it's that time of year again where mega turns another year older. No really big plans or anything though. Just going out for drinks with some good friends. It sucks though that the forecast says it will rain all day and evening. I would have liked to celebrate on an outdoor patio, but I guess you can't have everything. *shakes fist at sky*
Anyhoo, hope you're all doing well!

So I just got my first DS today. I was always more of a PSP guy, but I figure it's probably better to be able to experience the best of both worlds. The new DSi just came out so that's what I got. Went for the black one because, well, it's me and I like black. I also bought two games...Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Chrono Trigger. I never got to play Chrono Trigger before because back in my SNES days I was all about the fighting games. Anyhoo, I just started charging it and I can't wait to start playing this bad boy. Does anyone else have any good game recommendations? I am all new to this crazy DS world...
