It was a wild and action packed Monday Night Raw in front of a capacity crowd at the Mohegan Sun Casino.
Matches
With Jonathan Coachman’s edict that neither Superstar can come in contact with one another until Jan.1 unless it’s during a sanctioned match, Umaga and John Cena were forced to divert their pent up angst onto other competitors, as The Champ took on Armando Alejandro Estrada and the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga battled Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy.
Beating Estrada to a pulp was the only way Cena could to send Umaga a message, and the match was nothing less than lopsided. Cena easily got the pinfall after a devastating FU. As The Champ was putting the exclamation point with an STFU on Estrada, Johnny Nitro rushed the ring and gave Cena a cheap shot to the head.
“There’s more where that came from,” Nitro said as he backpedaled up the ramp to the locker room area. He then informed Cena that he was personally training K-Fed for their match on Jan. 1.
For the interference, Cena challenged Nitro to a match. Competing for the second time in one night, The Champ was able to score a decisive victory against Nitro, but it wasn’t without a hard-fought effort from the former Intercontinental Champion. Although Nitro displayed his relentless determination to win at all costs and an aerial display that ranks with the best high-flyers, nothing could stop John Cena.
Umaga took his aggravation out on Jeff Hardy. It was clear from the start of the match that Umaga wasn’t interested in obtaining a pinfall; his only goal was to punish Hardy – and he did. Hardy fought valiantly but was unable to hand Umaga his first defeat. The Samoan Bulldozer’s beating left Hardy unable to defend himself and the referee stopped the match, giving Umaga another victory.
Triple H’s collision in a singles match with Rated-RKO member Edge got ugly fast. After the battle made its way up the ramp, Randy Orton joined Edge in taking on The Game. HBK came to Triple H’s defense, but former Spirit Squad member Kenny joined Orton & Edge. That brought Ric Flair out to join DX in taking on Rated-RKO. The last time WWE fans saw Flair he was a bloody mess from Edge & Orton’s wicked attack that left the “Nature Boy” motionless and unable to compete. The attack was so disgusting it looked as if Flair would never be able to compete at the same level again.
But in his return, the future WWE Hall of Famer picked up right where he left off, and as a grueling battle broke out between all six Superstars, Jonathan Coachman emerged to declare the match a Six Man Tag Team Match.
As Edge & Orton attempted to zero-in on Flair in hopes that old injuries were still ailing, the “Nature Boy” proved there is no keeping him down. Kenny, desperate to become part of Rated-RKO, tried to pin Flair but was unsuccessful. Flair countered Kenny’s figure four leg-lock attempt and turned it into a small package for the pinfall.
After the match, Kenny helped Edge & Orton set up HBK for a Con-Chair-To like they did to Flair a few weeks ago. Fortunately, Triple H had his equalizer and sent the three Superstars rushing from the ring. What will happen when DX and Rated-RKO go head to head at New Year’s Revolution?
Flair wasn’t the only one making a return to Raw; former WWE Tag Team Champions the World’s Greatest Tag Team – Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas – made their triumphant return by defeating the Highlanders.
Also, Chris Masters and Viscera lost to Carlito and Jerry “The King” Lawler in a tag team match. Later, Masters clamped the Master Lock on Torrie Wilson after Victoria defeated her in a singles match. Victoria’s “hit list” has already gone through Candice and Maria and now Torrie can be added to the list. The cowardly attack from Masters on Torrie was broken up by Carlito, who rushed to the ring to help his love interest.WWE Champion John Cena def. Armando Alejandro Estrada
Carlito & Jerry "The King" Lawler def. Viscera & Chris Masters
Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin def. The Highlanders
Triple H vs. Edge (No Contest)
Victoria def. Torrie Wilson
DX & Ric Flair def. World Tag Team Champions Rated-RKO & Kenny
Umaga def. Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy (Non-title Match)
WWE Champion John Cena def. Johnny Nitro

Nowhere to run
Last week, Raw Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman ruled that Umaga and John Cena are banned from touching each other until January 1st of 2007. The ruling doesn’t come at a good time for Armando Alejandro Estrada, who is slated to meet John Cena one-on-one on Raw. Without Umaga at his side, what will happen to the obnoxious mouthpiece when he goes face to face with the WWE Champion.
All inThanks to an unexpected assist from former Spirit Squad member Kenny, Rated-RKO and MNM walked away with a huge victory over D-Generation X and The Hardys Monday. However, the odds may not favor Edge when Raw rolls into Mohegan Sun Arena, in Uncasville, Conn. Following the chaos that occurred during the Eight-Man Tag Match, Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman announced that the Rated-R Superstar will go one-on-one against Triple H next Monday
Making a list, checking it twice
Victoria crossed another name of her list last week when she made quick work of Maria on Raw. The bubbly Diva joined Candice as victims on Victoria’s quest toward Mickie James and the WWE Women’s Championship. What’s next for the lady who you shouldn’t mess with?- Posted Dec 10, 2006 5:08 am PT

The World’s Largest Athlete has made his life’s biggest decision, and for now, WWE and ECW will be without a giant.

Not since Andre the Giant has there been a man of Big Show’s stature who’s made such impact on sports-entertainment. But, after more than seven years in WWE and a five-month reign of dominance in the reborn ECW, Big Show has decided to take time away from the ring.
Enduring not only one of the most physical confrontations in his career against new ECW World Champion Lashley on ECW on Sci Fi, but also experiencing the agony and misery within the torturous Extreme Elimination Chamber, it seemed that this week was the breaking point for the giant.
Some close to Big Show have said that his pride was lost after losing the ECW World Title. His lingering emotions and injuries, coupled with several tumultuous days contributed to his decision to step away.
“I’m a raw-boned bastard that breaks things and moves the immovable objects. When I’m injured, I can’t do those things,” said the Extreme Giant. “I’m much more valuable healthy both mentally and physically, and this hiatus will help me to get there.”

According to Big Show, he has been plagued by a multitude of injuries from herniated discs to torn muscles, but has still competed through the pain. Bodily damage of this nature is something an ordinary individual (of far smaller size) could never endure, let alone carry the weight of the ECW World Title in a highly physical realm of hardcore.
“I’ve reached a point in my career right now where I am a little run down and hurt pretty bad physically,” explained the Extremist. “I’ve been wrestling the past three months pretty much in pain every night. I can’t compete at the level I want to compete at, and that’s the most heartbreaking thing.”
Despite his display of supremacy, Big Show claimed that his performance in the ring has not been at his full potential. It is this that has driven the immense competitor to step away from WWE for now.
“I think every athlete reaches a point in their career when he really has to check himself and evaluate what is going on,” said the 500-pound Extremist. “Anybody who knows me knows I need a break. People go through life so fast sometimes they miss it; I just want to put on the brakes.”
According to the World’s Largest Athlete, the physical ache he’s experienced doesn’t compare to the emotional anguish that’s accompanied his decision to take a break not just from his career, but also the familial lifestyle of sports-entertainment.
With a career that’s spanned more than one decade, Big Show has held every major World Championship in sports-entertainment and is the only man to hold the WWE Championship, ECW World Title and World Heavyweight Championship. More importantly, the Extreme Giant said that in his conquests, he’s had the extraordinary opportunity to have battled the biggest icons in sports-entertainment including Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Ric Flair, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker and countless others.
“It’s bittersweet; this business is a family. I’ve been traveling and I’ve been in this business for 11 wonderful years,” stated a passionate Big Show. “I’ve been able to work with almost every top Superstar in this business that’s ever meant anything… I’ve had some very memorable matches and I’m thankful for it.”

Whether cheered or jeered by WWE fans, Big Show has always been respected and kept audiences in sheer awe. Now, the seven-footer is anxious to take some time away from the spotlight, though that spotlight shines extra bright upon an individual of such mammoth size.
“Being this big, you can never hide,” he admitted with a large grin. “I’m thankful for it but right now I just want some time for myself. I’m thankful for the fans and I hope that they can respect this decision and can be supportive too.”
While Big Show hopes to recover and refresh himself, he discussed his possible involvement in a future WWE Films release.
“I want to reinvent myself if possible, and find out who Big Show really is,” he admitted. “I’d like to do a WWE movie – a comedy – because I have a pretty good sense of comedic timing. I’m a pretty humble, lovable, funny, easy-going guy with a short fuse. Then again, like Chris Rock said, nobody wants to laugh at a big guy who could beat your ass.”
Until then, it’ll be a “big, bad show tonight” and every other night until the Extreme Giant makes his way back home to the squared circle.
“I’m thankful for everything,” asserted Big Show. “For every man who has stepped in the ring with me and trusted me with their bodies. For WWE officials who have been so supportive of my decision when I basically went to them in tears and told them I was burnt out.”
In addition to these very genuine words, Big Show also had a message for ECW and WWE fans alike.
“I’d like to give a special thanks to ECW fans,” he added. “I wasn’t a part of the original ECW, but I gave all I had for them and I hope solidified my part in ECW. For anyone who has cheered me, loved me, hated me and booed me: thank you
