Why is everyone so pissed about Brawl online?
People, you wanted online, YOU GOT IT.
Now I hear, "bu bu NO HEDSETZ!!!1!!!" or "Nosending messagesto people I don't even know? WTF?"
Who honestly needs that? Really, who? I played Gears without a headset, that didn't take away from the experience did it?
I can understand why people are pissed, but at the same time, I really can't. Wii online isn't like 360 online, and I hope everyone knows that. Someone even said that Nintendo is more anti-online than ever. While it is true that barely any online games are out for the thing, SUPER SMASH BROS. IS ONLINE. YAY!
Be glad that the game even IS online. And to tell you the truth, that's all I, and really, anyone should need.

Ten Reasons Why I Hate: WORLD OF WARCRAFT
World Of Warcraft, yeah, WoW most people would call it.
You know what WoW means to me? WoW, as in, Wow....why am I playing this god-forsaken piece of crap? There is nothing more I hate than World Of Warcraft, even more than Nickleback, and that's deep.
So, you ask, why so much anger against the demonizing torturing MMORPG? Here is a list of 10 reasons, why I hate World Of Warcraft.
1) Bob has left GameSpot because of it.
We all used to know Bob Calyaco. Smart, honest, nice man, who had great and unbiased reviews here at GameSpot. But when World Of Warcraft came out, Blizzard turned our young innocent man to the dark side, now working for the comapny that made the very game I hate. We miss Bob, I miss Bob especially. But after playing too much of WoW, he left GS in order to persue the career of working at Blizzard. This, however, has some good news to it. He is developing Starcraft 2, the not-so terrible game that I would want to play someday. But WoW contributed to the loss of a man that left too soon.
2) It actually costs MONEY to play.
Now, to many of you, this may seem like a weird reason. But think about it. Around 15 bones a month to play an online game. 15 dollars!?!?!?!? A month!?!?!? That's around 180 dollars A YEAR. The Wii online is free, PS3 online is free. Hell, Xbox Live is only like 50 bucks a year, and you can play with more than just one game. But with WoW? NOOOOO. You gotta pay 15 a month for this. Now, of course, you may still think I'm crazy, that the money is the perfect value. Well, what would you rather spend $15 on? A month of World Of Warcraft? Or, a ticket to a movies with your friends? Think about it......just think.
3) Most people that play it, are losers, or psychos.
Here are some losers!

.....and here is a psycho.

See? What a wonderful reason to be a WoW player. Especially the last video.
You ever see the South Park episode based upon World of Warcraft. Yeah, don't be like them while playing. You don't want to rub Ben-Gay on your hands, rub Cheetos off your shirt, and grow fat and ugly right? Of course not silly!4) The game can ruin lives.
Now, I'm being totally serious here. This reason isn't funny at all, so don't think this is sarcasm or jokes. People have died from WoW related causes. There was a child who died of starvation thanks to her WoW addicted parents. Full article is here,
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59697
Secondly, there was a Korean man who visited an Internet cafè, played Starcraft for 50 hours straight, and then died due to cardiac arrest. His perferred game however, was WoW. Article is here:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article553840.ece
Finally, a boy whose father broke his own ribs, and left him to die in the closet, while the father played WoW. I cannot find a link to the story, but it was once said on The HotSpot.
Also, death is the most extreme case, and it is a rarity. But more often than not, addiction takes place, and many people can break off relationships, friends, and other social activities. Now you can joke all you want about the whole, anti-social thing, but it is real, and the game can change a person's life dramatically, and it's sad. It's like a drug, almost. This really doesn't have to do with just WoW, but with EverQuest, Starcraft, etc. Gaming addiction is serious, and we can only hope more people see what they are doing to themselves, and to other people, is harmful and unhealthy.
5) Quests are always the same
Now, onto the game itself. Now, I tried WoW, the 10-day trial a few months back, just to confirm the awfulness it is. As I see it, it is as follows: Take quest, kill enemy(ies)/find object(s), bring it back, complete. Do it again. Correct? Where is the fun in that? Where is the variety in the quests? See, Oblivion did it right. There is variety in the missions, and you feel like you are doing something different each time. But in WoW? No matter how non-linear and big it is, it feels so compact in terms of the quests. Sure, there are a bunch, but most aren't exactly exciting.
6) It takes very, very long to get from one place to another
Now, when I'm in one area, and want to go back to another area, it takes, oh I don't know, about 20 minutes to travel back! That's just inconvienent. There needs to be more of those zepplins or flying ships around the parts, so it won't taking forever to return. Then again, this is just my beef with it.
7) What's with the dances?
Seriously. STOP THE GOD-DAMNED DANCING. YOUR NOT COOL, YOUR NOT FUNNY, JUST STOP. Now, moving right along......
8 ) Team quests aren't that fun
Joining up with people can be extremely annoying. When you could do something by yourself, why do you need people? Guess it's just for fun right? Of course, some quests do require some teamwork, but when you team up with people, as far as I can tell, they either:
A) Take more than they should
B) Ask you to do everything for them
C) Take important items from rare enemies, and then I have to wait until it spawns again, then kill it, and then take the rare item.
or D) Want everything done perfectly, and low-levels (like me) are treated like crap.
So yeah, so much for THAT. The only team quest I enjoyed, was watching it, and that was this famous video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zll_jAKvarw
9) There is an expansion out (and another one coming)
Great, just when more people couldn't get addicted, an expansion comes out for people to waste hours upon hours again to raise a measly 10 levels. Now, with the Lich King coming out, you can expect that 9 million+ population of WoW players to continue to rise.....and rise.....AND RISE.
10) It's taking over the media
Like I said before, the South Park episode of WoW was a big hit, and got my friend into WoW. Now he plays countless hours of WoW, and doesn't hang out with a lot of people like before. Also, the whole Leeroy Jenkins video was well known, and it is only a matter of time before other media outlets use WoW for sponsering, or coverage. Who knows really? But WoW is going to take over this world one day, and I hope I'm dead before that ever happens.
And you know something? Maybe WoW will bring a big impact on games 10 years down the road. Good one, bad one, who cares? It's still a big impacting game. But you know what? It's just like EverQuest. That died down right? It seems that WoW could die down sooner or later, then we can move on to another crazy MMORPG (or Starcraft 2). But as it stands, World Of Warcraft is pretty much sweeping the world right now, and no matter how much I hate it, I can't stop it. I can only pray my fellow GS users.
I can only pray.
