- There wasn't filled in anything in this section yet so i made a little update. My callsign is Menno and i'm gaming since 1986/1987. I started off with a ZX spectrum (a computer that loads all it's stuff from a ordinary tapes into some tiny RAM memory). Soon after that i got a Nintendo with the legendary legend of Zelda. I loved that game. The freedome to go around and explore realy sattisfied me. But when i got my first PC around 1991 the addiction realy started. My uncle installed a couple of games on it to give me a headstart. Including the hillarius larry 3 (wich made me learn better english then my teacher back then). But the real candy was civilization 1, it was hard in the beginning but when i started to understand the mechanics it got better and better after each game. I still play civ 4 regularly but i don't have as mutch time as i used to have. With the release of quake things realy started to get "nerdy". I started a clan of friends who where all decent players, but we sucked... big time :D. But with the comming of counterstrike (beta 5.2) we rocked, we beat the best clan of holland 2 times with it. After that we all got recruited to top notch international CS clans. But when V 1.0 was released we where all kinda done with it, and i never played a fps that intensly again. Nowadays i don't have to mutch time to play games, and i realise i don't have as mutch fun as i used to have playing games becaus of many reasons, read my blog about that. Other games i played a LOT where. Starcraft Broodwars, Warcraft 3, Diablo 2, X-com, sim cities, civilizations, settlers and soccer managers. So as you can see, i love strategy and realy hard games that need carefull thinking and skills. And i love to play in competitive form to show off my skills. So, i still play Civilization 4 and soccer managers and there are only 2 games atm that i'm going to buy for sure. Starcraft 2 and diablo 3, 1st because i played the predecessors and 2nd i think blizzard is currently the only developer that has what it takes to bring out a good game that lasts long (for my taste). Ow and 3th... already mentioned i don't have the time anymore :D. In my real life i like to play poker (i'm earning some small amount of money with it too :D). I used to longboard and snowboard but my easy dislocating shoulder messes things up each time :S. I love music and i go to open air festivals as mutch as possible. I'm also doing some 3D work wich payed off real good in 2007 (designed 4 stages for 2 open air festivals, Ground Zero and the legendary Dance Valley.) But i would love to play a big part in the development for a game one day. But the skills some people have is just insane, and it's only getting harder to get involved. My job is to inspect and evaluate foundations for buildings. As you may have noticed most buildings in amsterdam are... a "little" crooked. So we measure the building, inspect the foundation at the weakest part of the building and make a evaluation for our clients. It's a great job, everyday is different and it's part office and part outside. I also, love the beach, love people but especially woman, love the gym, love my home, love my family and friends, love fruit, I love animals but especially baked with some good spices, I love to be the center of attention, Love plannet earth but especially Holland and then again especially Amsterdam, love Ajax, love top gear (the only show i ALWAYS watch actually), I love humor, i love to say (or write....) a lot, I love spitting on cowardly people..... hehe joking just checking if you still got you attention (your sick man) :D, i love to debate, I love Havanna Club, I love mountains but especially with a nicely paved road or covert with a nice pack of fresh snow. I love jeans, I love the sun, I love dancing, I love gamespot but not as mutch as the other things i love, I love love, I love , I love , I love soccer, I love Holliday, i love summer, i love hippie i guess, and i probably love you as well. Well... congratulation for reading all trough till the end. You almost won a 10 day holliday to the caribbean in a 5 star luxery resort. I still deeply appreciate your attention. Have a nice day. Menyo!

Replayability is everything!
To me replayability iseverything, i want a game to last forever or till theres a better sequal. Most games are just linear and when finished it the first time you actually done with it. So why people still buy these games? whats the fun of finishing a game in 8 hours and be done with it? Yeah most games you finish within 8 hours of game time. I would feel i'm being robbed and rather have gone to a amusement park or festival for that money. Luckely games like civilization and warcraft 3 excist, you just never get bored. Continue » -
The extinction of the hardcore gamer
Hi, Did you notice it as well? What happend to the gameplay? Most sequals get worse, simpler and easier. I just call up a couple of sequels that where "capped". X-com, the first 2 where great the 3th was good the 4th and 5th where just a heap of crap and not even with a cherry on top. Settlers, the first 3 where almost the same witch a minor gameplay increase the 4th whas leaving out on some minor things and the 5th is just rubbish. Railroad tycoon II was a good improvement, RRT III but with the last Continue »
