Well I guess this is it. I bought a 360 last friday and damn am I blown away by the console. The bundle came with Far Cry Instinct : Predator, Ridge Racer 6, Tom Clancy Ghost Recon : Advanced Warfighter & Live Arcade.
I seperatly bought Gears of War and don't regret it one bit. I have yet to try the other big hitter of the console : Saint's Row, Rainbow Six : Vegas, Dead Rising etc. and to tell you the truth I can hardly wait!

The Next-Gen
hmmm, so yeah ... the next-gen has officially kicked in and I have yet to jump aboard. The Nintendo Wii, the Sony Playstation 3 and the Microsoft XBOX360 are going at it with everything they have. www.nexgenwars.com is showing that Microsoft is leading the way. But the result is a little bit unfair because the 360's been out for a year now. So basically ... the war's between Nintendo and Sony. The stats are showing that Nintendo (as of now) is leading the dance with around +300k consoles, but then again the PS3 price is about three times the price of a Wii.
Anyway ... so even though far behind the next-gen wave (i bought myself a slim ps2 like 3 months ago), but I've been seriously thinking about buying a 360. Mostly for the games on it's line up. I have it all figured out; I'll get Gears of War, Rainbow Six : Vegas, Dead Rising, Saint's Row, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (that comes with the bundle) and already wants Lost Planet & Crackdown.
So I went out there today, checking out the prices at stores. BestBuy, EBgames & Futureshop (I'm canadian ... I don't think there's Futureshop in the states), I had the state of mind that I was going to buy one ... looked around to find the premium boxes. The Premium package (which is a must according to xbox gamers) is 499$ without taxes. So while being in front of the rack of boxes, I asked a guy that was working there if he could give me an estimated of the bundle with the two year warranty and everything. It ended up over six hundred dollars ... 649$ to be exact. That's crazy stuff. Where do you guys gets all that money to spend? I mean it's not that I don't have it but I have other stuff to pay!
Below the 600 it would have been a done deal, but I don't know ... passed the 600, it's like a psychological barrier. But then again I really want a 360 so I guess I'll save up a little bit, since it's christmas and all, and probably end up buying one before christmas. Since there's around three 360 games on my christmas list. That'd be kind of awkward to have the games but not the console to play them with.
Oh well maybe this upcoming week
let's hope so.

The Aftermath of the Dawson College Shooting
Montreal's my hometown, I was myself in school when all of it happened.Which is about twenty minutes away from Dawson. It could have been my college for all we know.
The media following of the terrible event is ridiculous as ever.
They blame the goth culture, the heavy metal and video games. I'm not a goth, neither listen to heavy metal but all the accusations are laughable.
First of all if Kimveer Gill would have been a baseball player, i don't think the media would have focused their attention on baseball players accusing them to be potential threats.
Of course they blame video games, they always do. Now we'll see knows-it-all on tv saying that according to their studies, video games makes people more violent and more proned to violence, ie : killing people. We are stuck with incompetent leaders that don't understand anything from this modern society, but still try to trangress their religion based values on the youth of today. First of all Kimveer Gill was obviously a schizophreniac. He was absolutely positive that the police was unto him. I'm not trying to make him look less mad than he was but the guy was not right in the brain. Now we're seeing in the newspapers, everything that could have triggered Kimver to kill people. Everything from the vampirefreaks website to Megadeth. They just blame everything that can take the heat away from the obvious threats. What about the gun law, they passed around over two millions of permits in the recent years, but they only refused 18000. If they really want it to work, they should make a following for everyone that wants one. And what about the goddamn parents? As you learn, your parents trangresses unto you, values. Values that will lead you throughout the rest of your life.
Jack Thompson couldn't be more wrong. Kimveer Gill didn't train himself at shooting in video games, he was probably jerking off to it. He was part of a gun club, shooting targets with his Beretta Storm since last year and I guess he got bored at shooting non-living targets. Also the thought of the people saying that they should ban the Beretta Storm is moronic. Why in the blue hell would you want to ban THIS gun in particular ? because it was part of a school shooting ? ANY gun in the hands of a not-well-in-the-head person is dangerous.
Anyway media are all about sensationalism, and I think they've hit the spot when they've put Kimveer's face on their frontpage for the three days following the shooting, when there was about twenty injured including eleven in a critical status. They've put more importance into the killer than Anastasia De Sousa, it makes me sick. I knew that girl, not alot, but I knew her. But money rules the world, and killers always sells more papers than the victims. They should stop trying to cover up the real issues of why this society is messed up, and why there's sicko's like Kimveer Gill out there, instead of blaming everything that seems to be sub-culture to them.
Hail the day when we'll be free - Anastasia De Sousa R.I.P.- Posted Sep 17, 2006 2:59 pm PT
