The Next Gen.
Okay okay.
So alot of people have been wondering: Which next-gen console is the best. Now i'm an owner of all three, and i can asure everyone about one thing, if u are above the age of 12, i think you will find the Wii machine quite boring, or at least not as exciting as PS3 and Xbox 360.
I never owned a N64, but i thought the Gamecube was an awesome machine, it was pretty decent games, and some games such as Super Smash Brothers Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart, Zelda, and so on could really compete with the games that went out for PS2 and Xbox, due to the fact that the gameplay was good, and graphics was charming and awesome, and again - it also appealed to the younger gamers (dosent mean it was without games for the older gamers, take such games as the Resident Evil series)
But as the Wii (or back then: Revolution) was announced, i kinda think that the games actully got kinda weak, as if they had given abit up...
Anyways... The Wii today (meaning with the games you can buy for now) is not anything speciel. Yes, okay motion sensor is cool, but frankly (from my point of view) it gets abit annoying looking like you got spasm problems. I loved Zelda Twilligt Princess, Mario Galaxy, Mario and Sonics Olympics, and currently playing Metroid 3 which is NOT bad at all
I think Wii sports was a huge letdown, yes it was fun at the beginning, then it got kinda you know "hehe", then it got slightly boring, and in the end, i just turned off my Wii...Basicly i think the Wii is a fun machine, but if you are a simple game geek, and wants the gameplay to be in the top i would suggest NOT getting a Wii, unless you are the owner of a PS3 or Xbox360 to balance it out, cause Wii is a good machine to sometimes play on just for the "few minutes of different gaming" (plus it is a great Multiplayer Machine)
I would give the Wii: 6,9 for Basic Game Design 8,0 for Basic Game Gameplay 10 for Basic Game Control (what else can i do, there arent any other machines to compete with
) Overall the wii is around 8-8,5 but it is not a "whole day of gaming" machine unless you got some mates with ya"Mooving ooon. Xbox 360, what a wonderful machine, it is abit of box, but i guess there is an idea behind the name
It is a huuuge machine, and damn what is up with the adaptor? And oh my gooooooood it annoys me with that sound, but feck it, i got used to it. And while my brain is automaticly ignoring the machines vacuuming sound, i enjoy all the masterpeices: Gears of War, Call of Duty series, Halo, and so on... but hey! I only mentioned 1st person shooters, can that be right? Well actully that is where the machine is strongest, First-Person Shooters, and Car games are the strongest genres the 360 can offer, but there is a reason for that, and its called Xbox Live. Xbox Live is a familiar concept to every gamer, even those without a 360. It is THE online gaming world. Yes yes of course if u own WoW or CS you would say "nooo" but i'm talking about console online gaming. Xbox Live is the place to game with others, you can download stuff as wallpapers, videos, demos, patches, and extras for games, but it costs money to get Xbox Live Gold (the online gaming part) so why do people get an Xbox instead of a PS3 where the online part is for free? Because Xbox live has a gazillion users and it works without a doubt, and it has fooor soooooooooo long that people trust it, and people know its right. Halo 3 is a beautiful game online, and oh my god Call of Duty 4 is great, so is Ace Combat, the burnout series, Fifa, NBA and soo on... Yes i did say NBA and FIFA, because the machine does have other genres that just war/shooting games, but i think First-Person shooters is definetly the genre which stands strongest. And it is without a doubt also fun. So if you are into Multiplaying, shooting, driving, or whatever you want, Xbox 360 is a great machine, cause yes it can doo a hell of alot! Plus it has the widest selection of games to date.
I give the Xbox 360 9,5 for Basic Game Design 10 for Basic Game Gameplay 9 for Basic Game Controls. soo basicly the machine stands to get a 9,5 cause it is an amazing machine, with almost no flaws, only the fact that it is a huge machine, and sounds annoying, but you will get over it.
Now the last one in the line, the 5kg bastard, the PS3. Damn i waited like a million years for this thing to arrive to Denmark, and when it game out it costed like 1000$ (no **** Denmark is fecking expensive when it comes to games, they cost about 100$ and consoles are outrages, or were, they lowered alot in price by now) So i got it. Me and my brother was so exciting, and well it wasn't a letdown, it is a big machine, but its beautiful, and the games are cool, well i got Motorstorm, and Resistance with the machine, and i didn't care much for Motorstorm (amazing graphics though), Resistance was fun, but after 50 levels you got kinda bored...
Anyways i played several games for PS3 and basicly it is PS2 over again, just with prettier games, and some online stuff and such. But thats actully good, cause PS2 was my favourite machine back then. I love playing sports games on the PS3 and personally i think it is the better than on the 360. The online part is kinda weak, or at least nothing compared to Xbox Live, but for me that dosen't matter much, i'm not so much into competing, i like enjoying a game by myself so basicly i think the PS3 is great for games like: Assasins Creed, Simpsons the Movie the Game, Devil May Cry 4, and my favourite game of all time Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Yes i think the PS3 actully stands strongest when it comes to single player part.
As many of us know HD, and Blue-ray has been competing, and HD-DVD aclaired themselves dead recently, so Sony won with the Blue-ray, and that niiice! Cause you get a Blue-ray dvd in PS3, and we all know that its also cheapest to buy the PS3 if u want a Blue-ray, and thats a nice feature. But dont expect much from Blue-ray just yet, wait 2-3 years, cause the selection of movies are poor, and it is way to expensive.
But overall i give 10 for Basic Game Design 9,5 for Basic Game Gameplay and 9,5 for Basic Game Control.
So which one do i think is greatest?
Well, Wii can never become my favourite machine if they continue like they do now, it was abit of a letdown, and i think it was too easy to say "we got motion sensors" and then deliever a machine to the market, cause the gameplay isn't something speciel to be honost, and graphics is kinda poor compared to the other two. I like the fact that you can buy older Nintendo games thou (didn't mention that sorry
) but otherwise it is not anything speciel for me. Even thou i would say that the PS3 offers way more than the 360 (of course thats when you have the money to buy it
) And it actully can become the best one on the market in a years time, i think the 360 is the strongest machine on the market. Microsoft released the machine early, giving it such a lead that both Nintendo and Sony wouldn't stand a chance, and maybe MAYBE never will. I think Xbox is a great machine due to the gameplay, only part, and the fact that the machine is so expensive itself, but delievers a good time for every penny...So congratulations to Microsoft for delievering a hell of a machine, now lets see how long it takes before Steve Jobbs from Apple choose to make a console
Iplay machine or something stupid... Regards: Oliver
