First off you should know I have not read the graphic novel...
Second you should know it 3:30am...
So I thought it was weird...
There were a lot of things I really liked and some things I thought were never really fleshed out...
Rorschach was my favorite character... I love characters that are true and pure, and he stayed true to himself throughout the movie...
The fight scenes were kick ass...
I thought that Ozymandias was the least fleshed out of all the characters and that was a bummer...
I HATED that a lot of the plot was summed up in dialog... I like to see the action unfold, not be told what is going on...
Anyway, Like I said it's late/early so apologies for being so vauge, but I said I'd blog after the movie, plus I don't want to spoil it for anyone...
Can't wait to hear what you all think about it.
Good Night!

Hey, Hi, Remeber Me? That girl that got a new job and then disappeared

I barely have time to watch TV much less blog about it, but I had two days off in a row, which is a weird schedule for me, so I took advantage with a movie fest, a date with a cute boy and too many Jager Bombs!!!
I have tix to the midnight showing of Watchman on Thursday too, so you all just might hear from me twice in one week... Everyone take your heart meds now!!
OK, on to the movies... No real spoilers here, just my thoughts on what was good and/or bad about them...
The Wrestler: I REALLY liked this... Mickey Rourke was great, Marissa Tomei was, well, hot is the word that comes to mind... I am usually hesitant about gritty/dark character dramas beacuse I hate to see characters have an attack of conscience and try to be someone they are not... This was not that movie... I also hate it when movies are wrapped up all pretty with a bow at the end... This was not that movie either... The relationships were real and the motivations were true for all the characters and that was a great thing to see... If you like character driven drama then do not miss this one!
Slumdog Millionaire: I'm torn on this one... I enjoyed it... I worship Danny Boyle... but I wasn't surprised by it... It didn't take me anywhere I didn't expect to go... The movie was told in an interesting way and the backdrops of India were stunning... I really liked Dev Patel, his acting was honest and real... But the truth is this movie is not for everyone...
Friday The 13th: OMG, I totally liked this re-make okay, let's just get that out of the way, Even though Jared Padalecki did not take his shirt off
Moving on... I am not a huge fan of Michael Bay, I think he gets full of himself sometimes (perfect example is Armageddon, which I HATED)... But I digress, this one stayed true to the roots of the slasher film, had dirty tent sex that led to killings, had the kids going into the abandoned cabin that led to killings, had some great humor, Jason's killing techniques were impressive... All in all I did not feel like I had wasted $10 at the theaters... Hope all is well with everyone... Working at a retail store is killing me, we are so busy all the time, the economy is not hurting cell phone sales that's for sure! but it's good to be working and getting bills paid off
I have missed all your snarky, witty, informative, combative, silly, blogs, but mostly I miss Greta's cookies so I'm going to try and make some more time to spend here!!

First off, thanks for all your pats on the back on my last blog... Please keep your fingers crossed for me on Sunday when we play the Ravens!!
And for Gix_Mix, who I have missed so much because you always make me smile... The Dolphins are my favorite NFL football team...
Onto the subject of this blog...
The house got a Wii for Xmas and I got a DS Lite...All is good, I just broke 200 on bowling and have almost mastered doubles tennis, but as fun as the Wii Sports games are we are ready for some new games!!!
That's where you all come in... What games do you all like for Wii? I need a couple that my nephew can enjoy and a couple for me to play...There are just so many I don't even know where to begiin...
And then on the DS LIteI just ant some Mario Brothers type games, maybe a SIMS game? It just has such a little screen that I'm not sure what games work best... Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your help... I won't be able to comment as I'll be up at my Sister's house in the mountains where there is Wii
, but there is no Internet
... But I will try to sneak a look at your replies from work Wednesday before I leave
Hope you all have a Magical New Years!

Today is a good day to be a Dolphins fan!
I'm just so excited that we won our division after finishing 1-15 last season!!!
I'm excited that Chad Pennington stepped up against the team that dropped him for Favre!!
I'm NOT excited that we have to play the Ravens next week, but I still have faith in my boys!!
Work has been crazy... I've been so busy, but in a good way...
I wish you all a FANTASTIC New Year's!

Anything where jack Black plays Jesus Christ has to be funny right?
Check out his newest video at FunnyorDie.com... if it's not still on the home page just search for Prop 8 The Musical...
It also stars Neil Patrick Harris, John C. Reilly, Rashida Jones and a ton of other familiar faces...
What do you think?

I have heard a couple interesting things post-election that I thought I'd share before going into my rant about Prop 8 passing thanks to a whopping 70% of black voters voting to ban gay marriage... Chew on that irony while I share some lighter things...
• Barack Obama is the first Senator since JFK to reach the White House
• Barack is the first Democrat to earn over 50% of the vote since Jimmy Carter
• Newspaper sales on Nov. 5, 2008 reached record highs... Highest number of papers sold since Sept. 12, 2001... Copies of the San Francisco Chronicle special issue have sold for as much as $51 on eBay...
• The HOPE pop-art poster that has been featured on many blogs around here was designed by Shepard Fairey, a young kid known for his guerilla marketing type of self promotion that includes several arrests for posting his art on blank buildings without permission... Obama's poster was the first one he asked for permission to do.
• The top choice for the new White House puppy is a GoldenDoodle
Now onto the Shock and Awe part of this blog...California's Proposition 8 passed 52% to 48% effectively banning Gay Marriage in the state. But the thing that I find the most disturbing about the vote is that black voters in our state voted 7 to 3 in Favor of the prop.
Really? After all your years of Civil Rights battles - In the year the first black man is elected President - In the year that Martin Luther King Jr's dream is realized you voted to pass a proposition that denies civil rights to another minority group.
You would think that a group of people that have suffered from so much injustice in their lives would not want others to face the same fate. You would think.
I am very disappointed in the hypocrity of this... They can hide behind their religious beliefs all they want, but by casting a yes vote they have voted FOR prejudice and discrimination. And that's just sad.
If I remember my Bible correctly didn't Jesus welcome the outcasts and the unwanted? When did the churches who stand in his honor stop doing the same?
I'm sure I am going to hit a nerve with some with this post, but I am really just stunned by this... This prop was about Civil Rights, not Religion and yet the religious groups in their unending crusade to squash freedom of religion (i.e. equality and personal freedoms) have managed to once again impose their moral beliefs on a state wide level...
Let me end by saying that I am not condeming those who don't believe in same sex marriage, I think they have the unalienable right to have that opinion... But they have condemed those who do believe...

What a great day to be an American...
This whole election season has been supercharged... Voters feel empowered to cast their votes and effect real change in America for the first time in a long time!
The first Presidential election I was able to vote in was 1989 when Bush Sr. defeated Dukakis... How exciting was that election year you ask? I just had to go look up who he ran against on Wiki... So Bush tried to fix the deficit left to him by Reagan, but in the end had to break his "No New Taxes" promise... That happens, his approval ratings were still high, all seemed okay...
Then this charismatic kid from Arkansas shows up and takes back the White House from the GOP... Who saw that coming? It's too bad that the Lewinsky scandal and Karl Rove forever tarnished his years in office... Years in which we had the longest period of peace-time economic expansion in American history, which included a balanced budget and a reported federal surplus... I miss those things...
What came next... Oh yeah, we elected Dubya into office and all the fine work that Clinton and Bush Sr. did got thrown in the crapper... The economy went to crap, Terrorist threats have caused widespread panic and we are stuck in a War with no clear direction or exit strategy... [Rant] I realize the majority thought your Dad pulled out of the Gulf too soon, but it's not your job to right his wrong... No-One is winning in Iraq, not us, not them...[/End Rant]...
Now we have a real chance to get our country back on track... It has been invigorating... Both candidates are strong in their own ways and it has been a grand battle that I am proud to have been a part of...
We are entering a new era in American politics... Aside from the historical impact of the first woman VP nom and the first black man to run for Pres I think generations to come will look back on this election as the turning point for our country and our return to the powerful and respected country we once were.
And that's why today is a great day to be an American!

It's the greatest priviledge in any free democratic society... Don't forget to vote this Tuesday...
And if you're in California please vote NO on Prop. 8... Gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone, doesn't cause financial hardship and doesn't belong on a political ballot... Morally you may condem it, but legally we should stay out of it...
Also, please vote NO on Prop. 2... The chickens do not need to be able to spread thier wings in the coop... They are for the most part flightless birds... Prop 2 will cause undue financial hardship to many California farms and is just not needed...
That's it for my two cents... My 4 year old Nephew is tugging at my sleeve so I hope this made some sense... Been crazy busy lately missing all of you... Hope you all had a great weekend!
Lisa.

Good News People... We have been heard...There is a plan and our "Top 5 Things To Fix" Blogs are part of it...
There is now a timeline to start making changes and confirmation that the FIRST thing they will address is the background Color/Font Size issue... As always you can go to Glenn's Blog for more details on all of this...
And for regular updates on bug fixes keep an eye on Jaxiecracks's blogs... As well as the Official Redesign Bug List that Newbie has beenworking tirelessly on...
Onto the Main Event... Danmods latest blog reads...
Addressing the Fixes You Asked Us to AddressHey everybody,
First off, let me thank you all personally for being patient (yeah, I know you're sick of hearing that but my mother raised me right, what can I do?) with us while we get these bugs sorted and fixed. Your feedback has been a huge help and we're doing our best to prioritize and plan and ultimately get the site working up to pre-redesign level as soon as possible. Glenn11523's blog, and the others we've seen like it (yes, we've seen those too) has not escaped our attention, and we are taking your "5 Issues" very seriously. The Community Team had a sit down with our new and fantastic CBSi Dev. Team, and progress has been made. Here's what I know so far:
Next week, mid-week, we'll be tackling the text color and size so it's consistent throughout the site and black! That's the first change you'll be seeing, it's the easiest to address and a great place to start.
After the text fix, we'll be looking into what it will take to fix the Tracked blog problem (showing more Tracked Blogs), Level Bar and Submission Stats module. I can't give you an ETA on these because they require the services of more than one department. Keep in mind that adding/removing modules can be a big deal because they affect the overall layout of the page in which they reside. We haven't decided to eliminate them, we just need to find out how to accommodate everything that needs accommodating and remain uncluttered.
The WYSIWYG problems, the broken "Next" button for comments - these are bugs, and have been reported and are being worked on. Check Jaxie's blog for information about the current fixes, she's doing a great job of organizing all that happy news.
Also - good idea to check out the awesome work of our newest Mod, More_NCIS_Now in THIS thread. She's outlined all known bugs and their status. Many mad props to her and the work she's done.
Finally, thanks again for being patient and for caring enough to bring these things to our attention. To those of you who are trying to work with us to fix the site we appreciate it.
In other news...
My vacation to South Carolina was fantastic... I am so blessed to have family that I actually like to hang out with... We went to the Shrimp Festival, Went cruising around on the boat, spent an afternoon in Charleston, ate BBQ, ate more BBQ... Now that I am home I am trying to get caught up on some much missed TV... Here's some thoughts on the Fall season so far...
BONES - I was really disappointed with the premier episode... It was very disjointed and hard to follow, there was way too much plot jammed into 2 hours... But all the eppys since have been fantastic!! They are handling the break up way better than I thought they would... LOVE that Zack is not a killer, but won't admit it, I am really looking forward to how that plot plays out.
DIRTY SEXY MONEY - I really like this show and the premier episode was GREAT... The characters are so compelling... I think shows like this have a potential for the characters to become over-exaggerated, but DSM manages to take everyone right to the edge and then reel them back in just in time... I'm looking forward to this season as they all struggle with their inner demons and conflicting desires for material vs. emotional gains.
CSI - I watch them all, but Las Vegas is my fav and I was kinda let down by the opener... After the super shocking season finale I was looking forward to more than an episode where you already knew what was going to happen... We knew Warrick was gonna die, we knew who shot him and we knew the team would figure it out... But it all happened so orderly and neat and there was no drama or suspense or the usual road blocks that I expect in this show... And just for the record I am not looking forward to Laurence Fishburne coming on board, but more on that when it happens.
SUPERNATURAL - Frakking Great - Everything about this season so far has been above average and I can't wait to see how the Good vs. Evil Sam vs. Dean saga plays out...
HEROES - So word on the street it that people are not diggin' season three... To them I say Patience Grasshopper... Shows like this need time to set things up and layout character motivations... It's like reading a really good book... In order to really enjoy the journey you first have to take the time learn where the Heroes have been... Anyway I've liked it and I'm sticking with it, even if Mohindar is becoming a gross version of Jeff Goldblum's The Fly...
SMALLVILLE - This might not be the greatest season so far, but they are re-inventing the wheel a little with all the new characters so I'm going to cut them a little slack... And as long as they keep showing Justin Hartley with his shirt off I'm going to keep watching

TWO AND A HALF MEN - This one was starting to lose its shine last season, but this season so far has been the best in years... If anyone used to watch and gave up on it I urge you to give it another go this season, it's laugh out loud funny again!
And finally with 21 days left until Halloween What will you all be dressing up as this year?I'm thinking the Joker as Nurse Dent from Dark Knight... That was just my favorite part of the movie...

First a note to the naysayers regarding forms and submissions and other bugs on the site... Those things WILL be fixed... They are bugs and WILL be addressed... Patience my friends, patience... Our blackout was and is not concerned with all things technical... It is concerned with the user interface and the interaction between users... That said picking five thing is hard so I will stick with my original list from my last blog...
The five things that are still driving me CRAZY are:
• Why "My Feed" and "My Tracked Blogs" are the same thing... what is the point of that really?
• Why the News in "My Feed" is from 2007... Really one of my news feeds is "CW Bids 'Gilmore Girls' Goodbye"... Really?
• Tracked Blogs... We know you can allow more in the list as every other list (ie Favorite Shows) has more than 4... Would you do us a solid and put it back to 10?• See all blogs page... maybe you could truncate these to show up the way our list of personal blogs does so that we could see more on a page (Some of us are rather wordy you know)
• Top Contributors list needs to include more people... Again this site is based on community and it's important to recognize the community as a whole, not just the top dogs... Having the full list of contributers makes more people feel included and connected to the site. The site has become much more stable for me... PMs are working, I was able to reorder cast for one of my shows, I have submitted trivia and episode info okay, I can moderate my Q... I still can't use Next and Previous buttons in my subs page or blog comments, but as I said above I think those are bugs that will get worked out.
I am leaving Friday at the crack of dawn for my vacation to visit family in South Carolina and may or may not be around during that time and will try to get caught up when I get back... Everyone have a fantastic weekend!

Dear TV.com,
I want to start by saying that coming from a web design background I understand how difficult a complete re-design of a site can be and that you cannot anticipate all that can go wrong. I understand that bugs will arise and they have to be handled one at a time and they cannot all be fixed overnight. I understand that all involved have put incredible amounts of time and energy into making this re-launch of the site a success.
I personally like the new design. It feels open and airy, less closed in then it was before. The white is a bit surprising given all the options that were available to you, but I can live with it. Some things that I especially like include the Special Features links at the top of the page and my very favorite is the Trivia Guide feature, although it is a little buried for a "new" feature, but it's great to see all the trivia for ALL the episodes on one page.
But you all really missed the boat on a key element of this site... This site has always been about COMMUNITY.
Here we can submit info to our favorite shows, talk about them in the forums, track our friends and their blogs... I have always felt that here I am part of a special community of like minded people that I don't have access to in my everyday Silicon Valley life. I have always felt like that reason I come to TV.com for my TV info was for this community of people. There are several places I can go to find info on TV shows, but I don't get the interaction with others that I get here.
That being said TV.com has all but crippled the COMMUNITY aspect of this site.
Where before right from our profile page we could see a list of 10 blogs and, more important, see if there were new comments to those blogs. We all as a group communicated through those blogs comments daily. I would look forward each day to checking my blog for new comments, responding to them, debating them, defending them and enjoying a good laugh on most days. Now I have to wade through so much to get that info. Most of us have day jobs and don't have the time to re-click every blog every day.
If the community here is indeed important to TV.com please address this issue... many have complained... And frankly we feel ignored... We are the community that this site depends on and it would be great to be acknowledged... At minimum a featured Staff Blog letting people know what is being worked on and what we can expect in the future, and I don't mean the bug fixes, we know those are getting fixed.
But we want to know we are being heard. We want to know that all of our time and effort spent on this site matters. We take great pride in our work here, and want to know the staff appreciates us... And being locked out of the planning for the new site we feel un-appreciated...
You claimed "You spoke - we listened"... Well we are speaking again and we want to be heard!
Some additional things we would like to see addressed are:
• Why "My Feed" and "My Tracked Blogs" are the same thing... what is the point of that really?
• Why the News in "My Feed" is from 2007... Really one of my news feeds is "CW Bids 'Gilmore Girls' Goodbye"... Really?
• Tracked Blogs... We know you can allow more in the list as every other list (ie Favorite Shows) has more than 4... Would you do us a solid and put it back to 10?
• See all blogs page... maybe you could truncate these to show up the way our list of personal blogs does so that we could see more on a page (Some of us are rather wordy you know)
• Top Contributors list needs to include more people... Again this site is based on community and it's important to recognize the community as a whole, not just the top dogs... Having the full list of contributers makes more people feel included and connected to the site.
• People here LOVE their emblems... I understand removing the passed contributor milestones, but we work hard to earn editor and trusted contributor status and those emblems are the ones that matter to most... This, again, goes back to community.
Maybe these things are possible, maybe they are not, maybe you are already planning to do some of them. Whatever the case just let us know, keep us in the loop, even if the answer is a firm No, Never, Quit Dreaming at least we'll know, and Knowledge is Power as they say.
Sincerely,
Lisa Graham
For all my friends reading this:I hope I have addressed a good chunk of the issues we are all having with the 3.0 design. I wrote this for me as I am one of those people that always needs to get things off my chest... Even if if no-one on staff sees it I stil feel better for having voiced my opinion... In the off chance that this does get in from of eyes that have more power than we do please post comments noting anything I missed... But not site bugs, this is intended to be about purely cosmetic and User Interface realated issues.
Also, on the COMMUNITY aspect I mentioned above... I am encouraging everyone to participate in the Sept. 30 blackout... I know some do not think it will do any good... I disagree, I think this blackout will shine a light on the power of the TV.com COMMUNITY... I am hoping this will show TV.com that we value our ability to interact with each other and that this community of people is strong and deserves to be listened to.
I feel like since the re-design we are all losing touch with wach other and that makes me sad... Especially as it's TV premier season and we are missing out on chatting about our favorite returning shows... I am going to try to get back in touch using MovieTome and/or Gamespot to follow everyone's blogs and hope you will all do the same untill we have a better solution.
I'm way behind on premiers and plan to hunker down this weekend and watch TV till my eyes bleed
Then I'm looking forward to seeing all your opinions!!Special note to Shazz regarding Supernatural - I was thinking about last night when I watched Supernatural and wanted to say that I'm sorry they are going the whole Bible route you so feared... But I for one thinks it's Fantastic... Last nights episode was GREAT... After Dean going to Hell it just seems logical that if there's Hell there is Heaven and that has to be explored. But more on that later...
Everyone have a GREAT weekend!!

21Sep 08I LOVED this movie... It's not for everyone I am sure, but if you liked Fargo, Grosse Point Blank, A Simple Plan, Shallow Grave, or others along that genre I think you'll like this too...
George Clooney was a laugh riot, he took the role of a cad obsessed with sex to a whole new level... Frances McDormand was brilliant, as always, as a woman who will do anything to pay for plastic surgery and find love... John Malkovich was pitch perfect as a burnt out CIA analyst...
and Brad Pitt... Well, this might be the best thing he's done since he took his top off in Thelma & Louise...
Tilda Swinton is so overrated... She is perfecting the art of playing an aging woman with a stick up her arse... And she does is superbly here...
And a special nod to J.K. Simmons, who plays Chief Pope on TNT's The Closer, he may have been the funniest thing in the movie as the CIA Chief who has to order the clean up of the mess made by all the above mentioned folks...
I don't want to give out any plot spoilers, but if you like quirky dark comedies then Burn After Reading is definitely for you!- Posted Sep 21, 2008 2:39 pm PT

*This blog brought to you by MovieTome, since I can't post one with TV.com right now*
First, thanks to Greta for the tip on posting from MovieTome... Extra Cookies for Greta
I'm too flustered to write a proper rant, but since it's next to impossible to find anyone's blogs anymore it may not matter...
This re-design is lovely in some ways... but I cannot submit anything and I cannot send PM messages and my inbox says I have 3 new messages that don't seem to be there.
Anywoo... Layle1: Here's the PM I'm trying to send you...
I have the re-cap done but I can't seem submit anything... I'll do the re-cap for the new eppy too and hopefully get them both to you by this weekend.
I know that this "new" site is troublesome, but we have a really great fun little community here and I would hate to see that all fall apart over some growing pains... I know it's frustrating, but please let's all try to support the site we love so much and make this work.
Go Team Go... Sorry I just realized that whole paragraph made me sound like a little league coach
On an up note SUPERNATURAL comes back tonight... Here's hoping that the chat works tomorrow...- Posted Sep 18, 2008 10:56 am PT

I just thought it was high time I changed my blog... I was tired of looking at it myself... Some things that are irrelevant that I'd like to share...
My Dart League starts up again tonight.... high drama always ensues, as each week it never fails that someone gets drunk and accuses someone else of cheating... Which is all the more annoying because it's Electronic Darts, you can't cheat... But mostly it's a good group of people that I have a good time watsting several hours on Tuesday evening with

HOUSE returns tonight.. So that's exciting, except that I can't watch till tomorrow because I'm usually one Jager Bomb over my limit after darts and can't stay up to watch anything on Tivo

On the I still totally love Stargate SG-1 front, I think I have decided to go against the grain. Whie Window of Opportunity is no doubt a great episode (okay it's Hysterical), but I am going to have to say that, for me, my favorite episode is 200. Claudia Black is a riot, it brings everyone back together, The Farscape bit is a crack up, even Sylar and Walter get to break character and be a little silly.
DVD Movie Reviews
The Golden Compass - What a letdown... While the cgi was okay, this was no Narnia. I thought the acting was good, but the plot and the script were awful!! There was no suspense at alll because the characters kept blurting out the plot and spelling out everything that was happening... BORING... I couldn't wait for it ti be over.
Saw IV - Outstanding, complex, wickedly torturous, and crazy hot boots on the blonde in the hair trap... The only complaint I have about this movie is that Hoffman and Agent Strahm (Where's your baseball cap Luke?) look very similar in dimly lit rooms (so all of the movie) and a couple times I got them confused and that confused me... Are you confused yet by my review
Anyway after that utter letdown that was Saw III (my 13 year old sister fell asleep) I was glad to see Saw IV bring the franchise back up to the standard set in I and II... Can't wait for Saw V next month!!Stargate Continuum - This movie is EXCELLENT! It has everything you loved about the original series... All the cast are back, the humor is back, the action and adventure is back... The whole movie made me happy! If you are a fan of the series you will LOVE this movie!
Quirky Movie recommendation of the week - Staying on the Stargate train I'd like to recommend A Dog's Breakfast. A delightful black comedy that stars David Hewlett, Kate Hewlett, Paul McGillion with cameos by Christopher Judge and Rachel Luttrell and a stellar performance by David Hewlett's dog, Mars.
So that ought to do it...

Okay so this article is the reason I love io9.com so much...
They have compared the two versions of Fringe frame by frame... not only is it funny, but it's one of the better re-caps of the show I've come across...
Last Night's Fringe Was More Torturous Than the Leaked Version

Anyone heard from our friend Jon (vendbien)?
It's been quite some time since he posted anything snarky on my blog and I'm startin' to miss it

If anyone's in contact with him send him a kiss on the cheek and have him stop in to say hello...
