    3 Films.

    Hello all.

    I thought I'd start a blog.

One of my biggest interests and hobbies are films. I love watching, studying and talking about them. I thought it'd be interesting to start a blog where I could talk about some films that either I watched recently or just wanted to talk about. My other blogs may contain other content pertaining to my other interests, but I thought this would be a good place to start.

Oh and these aren't reviews, just things i've noticed. Now I'm not necessarily recommending all these films because they are awesome and exciting - although some will be - but rather because they are worth watching for various reasons. Also, I'll try and talk about th films that I consider hidden gems or not well known as opposed to whats current.

    Anyways, on to it.

There first film, is one I watched recently. "Im Not There"

All 6 characters are Bob Dylan or characters that incoroperate aspects of his personality. There 6 intersecting stories all seem like individual films or individual narratives. And there's a lot to take away from the acting (Cate Blanchett is phenomenal) as well as the cinematography (the use of black and white in Blanchett's Dylan certainly provokes thought).

    Film Two "Turtles Can Fly"

A brutal film set in a refugee camp on the Iraqi - Turkish border on the eve of the Iraq war. What starts of as a seemingly innocent childhood coming of age tale soon turns into a disturbing showcase of the impact of war on children. What's remarkable is the quality of acting from a cast largely formed of locals.

    Film Three "Memories of Murder"

Simply put, the best Korean film i've ever seen (even the vengeance trilogy - which are brilliant - which I might mention in a later blog) and one of the best films I've ever seen. The film tells the story of South Korean first serial killer. It's incredibly gripping and includes some really beautiful cinematography and mise-en-scene. It also includes one of the most haunting scenes in a film that i've ever seen (the confrontation at the train tunnel).

Well that's it. I'd like to hear if anyone else has seen these films and what they think of them? As well as everyone's opinions on subtitling / dubbing in foreign films (which I might address in my next blog or comments).
