New blog.....well that was quick anyway it's official, Marvel VS Capcom 2 is coming out for PSN and XBLA! I bet absolutely no one...I mean no one saw this coming....ever! Yeah right =P. If you guys don't know me, my name is Rey. You might've heard some of the other games I've produced recently: Commando 3, 1942, and SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO HD REMIX (yes..the all caps was necessary because the game is just that rad).
For the skinny on the details of Marvel VS Capcom 2 check out Sven's post here.I'm supplementing his megaton drop of details with some extra details of my own. Specifically on the new sprite filtering being done on the game. As you probably know by now, we didn't redraw the game like we did with HD Remix (the thought of even trying that gargantuan task has kept me up at night, so many more frames than HD Remix), but we did include some visual options in the game that we think you'll like. Here's some screens from the game with a quick run down on the filters (It should be noted that this is all optional and users playing online can use what ever mode they want independant of their opponent):
****c- No filtering. The sprites are shown in their full pixel glory. I love sprite work and I know a lot of you out there love it too, so we kept this in for you.
Smooth- For those in the know, this is based off of 2X Bilinear filtering but with some tweaks made for the game.
Crisp- This is based of off 3X Bilinear filtering, but it was also tweaked heavily for the game.
To make sure we got the game right, we needed the input from gamers that knew more about this game than anyone thought possible. So who did we find? None other than 2 prominent members of the MvC2 community MikeZ and Magnetro, who have been making combo vids for MvC2 for years.
We brought them in to Capcom way back in Janurary to check out the game. Basically we needed guys with deep knowledge in the game to make sure we ported the DC version correctly and there were no super esoteric bugs that only a hardcore MvC2 player could find. I'm glad they came in too, apart from many issues they found, they found a bug that would've totally ruined Magneto's square jump game. I've asked them to send me their thoughts on their experience here at Capcom and I'll leave you with their thoughts. Thanks for all the support guys!
So what about the game got my attention? I think the engine and character selection lends itself to many different types of ideas. The fluid movements of the characters and screen complement each other when there is mayhem going on. Overall, it's the sheer number of possibilities and different outcomes you can have with the characters that keeps me coming back. Despite the game being almost a decade old, it still has people playing it - just like Street Fighter II Super Turbo. And just like Street Fighter II Super Turbo, Capcom is making an effort to port this game correctly.
When I got to see the new version of MvC2, the first thing I noticed was: widescreen-1080P with a smoothing filter. The filter was designed specifically for Marvel vs. Capcom 2, so it looks great. (If you're a purist: its possible to turn off all the new options and play it the way it was originally designed.) In addition to that, they've also added online play and a new button configuration. Taking advantage of the modern controllers, the new versions let you have the familiar six buttons plus extra buttons for dashing or tagging. This will help players that have trouble playing on sticks and use regular controllers.
Overall, I'm happy to see Capcom making an effort with this version of the game. It'll be great for new players because they'll experience the game in a faithful rendition.
I nearly soiled myself when i remember thewell-known glitches to standard combos and tactics, and the gameplay was all there.Certain gamebreaking bugs have been removed, of course (the Gambit glitch, for example) but everything else is intact.Guard breaks, infinites, simultaneous DHCs, unblockables, countering with Assist 2 after a snapout, the Juggernaut glitch...everything that makes MvC2 crazy. This is the game we all know and love, but prettier.
Speaking of pretty, this next-gen upgrade for MvC2 also offers a few extra goodies.Widescreen and HD support let the 3D backgrounds and hit effects truly shine.(Don't worry, the stage is still the same size in widescreen.)For those who want it, a new filter mode offers the ability to reduce the pixelization inside characters (I happen to like the giant pixels, myself, but the effect is good). And perhaps the biggest news of all for die-hard MvC2 fans - just like other next-gen games, you can turn off the music and play your own instead.
There are a whole bunch of reasons you know you want this game, but me?I'm just excited to finally stop going to the arcade to kick some capcom and marvel ass.

Brace your earth brains for this one: Xbox Evolved is reporting that they heard from a "reliable source" that the next Xbox (let's call it the 720, just for laughs) will be ... are you ready for this? ... forwards compatible. Woah! Can you believe it? The next Xbox will have the ability to look into the future and play the games of tomorrow, with no present day knowledge of their existence or content. Well, not exactly like that. Xbox Evovled is using "fowards compatible" to mean that 360 games will be better on the 720, which could mean anything from improved graphics to additional features. (That only applies, of course, to 360 games that have been designed to do so.) That seems more like "improved backwards compatibility to us" but the concept, which could really help to pad the launch lineup of the 720, is intriguing nonetheless.
Some say its not the time when other's say it's about time. Well in about another year or so its coming if we like it or not so we might as well exspect the unespected. cause its coming and the bring Halo 4 along with it. It Might sound cruel to most cause what might Microsoft can bring that sony couldn't bring. Is it better Controllers or is it better graphics.
Nall cant be cause Ps3 has the best controller out right now so if they did that then they are being a copycat.lol Graphics couldnt get any better cause it will seems as u was playing a PC so u couldnt tell the difference between the two except one is a console.lol Some say that they found a new way into they HD that makes it look like u watching a movie all the way through they game. Do we really want that?
I say its a waist of money. They just trying to beat Sony and they doing a poor job even the title of the new system is stupid. Now dont get me wrong the xbox is a great system but its not the time to move on unless u can bring better things to the table. May i suggest Free online play or a easier way to get Microsoft point.
Cause Sony got u beat all around. Microsoft is just in for the money and they get a sell cause of Ps3 is cost higher. They wont get a sell cause of poor choices for the system. They got to find a way to stand out from the other systems. They bringing Halo back so that Halo can help the system stand out. but dude you brought out Two different halo after halo 3 rested. Yall is just moving way to fast, just sit and think more clearly before making a move cause i can see a bad move in the Xbox 720.

this looks bad for sony as PlayStation maker looks to cut 5 percent of its workforce citing "sudden and rapid changes in the global economic environment."
Days after Microsoft declared the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 three-to-one during "Black Friday" sales in the United States, Sony has announced cutbacks. The Tokyo-based electronics giant will slash 8,000 jobs and close several of its manufacturing facilities in a bid to save $1.1 billion (£745 million) by the end of next financial year. The job losses will come out of core Sony electronics divisions, though no official breakdown has been revealed.
As well as job cuts, Sony is also looking to reduce investment by 30 percent in electronics operations by withdrawing from unprofitable and non-core businesses. The electronics giant also confirmed it was to close around 10 percent of its 57 manufacturing sites, with all restructuring said to be completed by March 31, 2010. It will also raise the pricing of some of its products to alleviate the impact of the stronger yen.
The cuts follow on from more bad news from Asian electronics rival Samsung, which hours before Sony's announcement said it was to cut its sales targets and spending, after lower-than-expected fourth-quarter revenues and a drop in expected demand for 2009.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe did not comment on whether the cutbacks would affect the price of the PlayStation 3, which remains the most expensive--and technologically advanced--console on the market. When queried by GameSpot, a SCEE rep said only, "We will always carefully review and make structural changes, if necessary, in order to further expand and strengthen the PlayStation business around the world."
The Sony announcement reflects recent bad news in the games industry, which has been shaken by EA's $310 million quarterly loss and dismissal of 600 employees, and Eidos, which lost a quarter of its workforce in February this year (when still known as SCi Entertainment). Midway Games has also been hit hard, with a controlling interest in the firm being recently sold for a mere $100,000 to a private investor. Last week, the once-mighty Mortal Kombat publisher revealed $240 million in debt, $150 million of which it may have to repay in as little as 50 days.

As the last DBZ game in the PS2's library, Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World is both a mediocre effort and an overall disappointment from Atari and Dimps. Even fans of the series will be hard pressed to favorably compare DBZ: IW against the rest of the Budokai series, mainly due to a modestly tweaked fighting system, a frustrating new mission mode, and tons of missed potential. If you've played a Budokai game before, feel free to skip this last entry.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Even with improved graphics and a large character roster, Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World ends the DBZ series on PS2 with a bust instead of a bang.At one time, DBZ Budokai was the fighting series that proved anime-based fighting games could still surprise the most fickle players. A few years down the road, the formula has been rehashed so many times, the end result on the PlayStation 2 with DBZ: Infinite World feels like a letdown. Personally, after playing other Dragon Ball games like DBZ: Burst Limit, Budokai 3 and Dragon Ball: Origins, I feel that DBZ: IW wastes a lot of potential with a few uninspired and inexcusable gameplay choices.
DBZ: IW's newest mode, Dragon Mission, is one the primary reasons that I got tired of the game so quickly. In various scenarios, you're asked with running errands under a time limit, set against familiar scenes of the DBZ anime. What this really means is that every time you progress through a certain amount of stages in Dragon Mission, DBZ: IW will make you participate in a mandatory fetch quest, footrace, or the horrible "run through all the rings under a time limit" mini-game. (Has no one in Dimps ever heard of the torture device called Superman 64?)
Even worse, the control in these quests is just plain horrible. In the 3D-movement areas, the camera remains rooted to a fixed point no matter where you move, making you adjust it every five seconds while simultaneously trying to find whatever shiny things you're supposed to be collecting or jumping through. If you find an object you're looking for that happens to be sitting on top of a small cliff, good luck trying to reach it, since you can't really fly wherever you want. Instead, you'll waste precious seconds looking for a conveniently placed boulder in a different part of the map to help you double-jump up to an even bigger boulder. If you're trying to catch or hit something, your two hands will be painfully occupied trying to make the camera focus on what's directly in front of you while you're still moving.
While it's unfortunate that you must complete Dragon Mission in order to experience the rest of the game, DBZ: IW still has an impressive list of fighters and lot of saga-sprawling fan service for patient DBZ fanatics. Sure, the graphics look decent, but they're not really an improvement on past games -- although, to be fair, that's probably just a technical limitation with the PS2 than an actual development flaw. At the very least, the fighting system is solid, but unless you're a seasoned player, you'll be on the receiving end of several devastating energy blasts and dramatic kicks to the face. Overall, DBZ: IW is a lame excuse for an anthology that misses the opportunity to make one last good impression on DBZ fans.
PROS: Huge character roster, customizable skills, long story mode and dual-language voice tracks
CONS: Horrendous mini-games, stale content, Dragon Mission is a very poor choice for a new mode

Ubisoft isn't making gamers wait long for From Software's next installment in its long-running Armored Core franchise. After announcing Armored Core: For Answer at the end of July, the publisher said today that the high-octane mech-combat shooter will boost onto the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 beginning on September 16.
For Answer hopes to once again pique the interest of mech-enthused gamers with a slew of new customization options and combat scenarios. Taking a cue out of From Software's other mech-combat game, Chromehounds, For Answer will feature monolithic mobile fortresses in a series of 10 David-and-Goliath-****boss fights.
The game includes a handful of other features, such as an online co-op mode with 30 missions and eight-player online melees in 80 different arenas. From Software is also giving players the option of beginner and advanced control schemes to ease new pilots into the game.
For answers on what this, the 13th installment in the Armored Core franchise, brings to the table, check out GameSpot's Q&A with Ubisoft associate producer Kenan Alpay.

At Sony's E3 press conference today, we got our first glimpse at God of War 3 via a CG teaser trailer. It's been fun passing the time waiting with Chains of Olympus on PSP, PS3 ads that kind of look like God of War, and fan-created Lego trailers, but I'm ready for a new something new. So I rounded up everything we know about the new game so far.
First Things First
While rumors had been flying about a third God of War ever since Sony announced God of War 2, the first public comments came at the God of War 2 launch party/press conference held by Sony in March 2007. At the end of a presentation, then-director Cory Barlog joked that "if" God of War would head to PS3, it would feature Sixaxis, rumble, and 1080p features. There has been some debate over how to interpret what he said, but given that his comments weren't in response to a question, it seems clear he wanted to get the word out on the franchise's future.
What never seemed to get much publicity at the time was Sony's official press release put out that day, which offered information about the game similar to what Barlog said on stage, suggesting that this was not an off-the-cuff remark but something that had been coordinated by Sony.
The Release Date
The first God of War spent about three years in development and shipped in March 2005. God of War 2 took two years and shipped in March 2007. Going by that timeline, it would make sense to see God of War 3 ship any time between March 2009 and March 2010. But of course, things aren't that simple. We know that the programming team was looking into the PS3 hardware as early as March 2006, when Tim Moss mentioned it in a Game Developers Conference speech, and that Cory Barlog was working on the story and overall design of the game before God of War 2 shipped, but as to how all this adds up to deliver a finished game, we don't have a clue.
