    Gum is evil!

Over the past year I've been K.O'd by severe TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint - your jaw joint).

It has completely affected my health in almost every way: severe pain and muscle tightness in my neck, shoulders, middle of the back, headaches, jaw pain, ear problems, sinus infections, G.I. tract upset, extreme fatigue, sleep disorder - many nights I've got less than a couple hours of sleep for weeks or months, balance & coordination problems, muscle weakness. It goes on and on.

My jaw joint got damaged from a car crash I was in (guy didn't stop for red light, hit other car in intersection which hit me), and then from bad habits like gum chewing, teeth clenching, fingernail biting, etc. Your jaw wasn't meant for that kind of wear and so mine deteriorated causing everything in my neck to get messed up.

I'm still trying to recover, it has been a long slow process. I've barely been able to keep up w/ my ministry duties, and no extra energy for other interests like videogames or martial arts.

Take my advice, if you're a gum chewer, stop. It may do you much harm and could bring months, or even years of suffering and pain.

    Remember the Persecuted Christians

Way back in November there was the Internation Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Once your eyes have been opened to the real hardships Christians around the world are facing for their faith, it puts things into perspective.

People are getting their arms chopped off w/ axes for not denying Christ, others are having their fingernails pulled off and forced to work literally to death in prison labor camps. Pastors, evangelists, and other Christian leaders are getting murdered. People are crying out for Bibles and are so blessed and happy when they get one of their very own. ($4) buys a person a Bible who doesn't have one in these countries where Christianity is under attack.

As a result of this greater awareness, I urge you to get involved and do what you can, give to their needs, pray for them and spread the word.

More information can be found @ Opendoors.org

It's great to play videogames, but let's keep things in eternal perspective.

    Down but not out!

I apologize for not being around much, I've been very sick w/ a weird illness for the past 2 months. It has kept me to doing minimal activities and tasks, so I haven't had time or energy to put to posting on the Christian Union. I'm praying to get over it soon and covet your prayers for healing and restoration of health.

In the midst of the struggle, God is still good and I will praise Him.
