    Far Cry 2 on PC

Well, I'm extremely disappointed. I wasn't expecting much from the story; I got less. What I've experienced so far is an arcade game with high-end graphics. Repetitive gameplay, too - how many mercenaries are there, really? The "intelligent" AI disappoints, and respawn rates are ridiculous. The weapon selection is nice, but having to hunt down diamonds to pay for them limits the number you'll actually wind up using. Sure, you may want to pick up X gun for fun, see what it does. But chances are you'll miss more than you see.

Then, there's the driving. Not only does it have that dumbed down console feel to it, you have to do it so much. Missions that only take about 2 minutes usually take 8 or 10 to reach. The fast travel system only has five transit points for the first third of the game, and a large amount of mission objectives are placed about halfway between two of them, negating their usefulness.

The music is repetitive and boring, as well. Sound effects could've been so much better... the oft-touted fire of the game sounds bland, and weapon effects are cookie cutter. Overall, the game is cheaply entertaining for a while, but certainly lacking overall. Maybe I've just been spoiled with deep stories and excellent gameplay from games like Mass Effect and Fallout 3 this past year; or maybe, Far Cry 2 just isn't that great.

Yeah, I'll go with the latter. 5.5/10

    So, I'll stick around.

Won't be going in any unions, but I will comment on people's blogs.

    Yeah, long post, I know.

    Hey, how's it going.

Just dropping by, thought I'd make a blog. How's everyone been? No, I'm not coming back, at least not in the foreseeable future. Real life's been keeping me busy, but I'm still on two forums. If anyone's interested in joining, they're FEPlanet, a Fire Emblem website, and Revolution Radio, a Christian radio station run by some friends of mine. I'd be happy to see you at either or both!

Since leaving, I bought a PSP, and that's what I've been playing, mostly. I picked up Jeanne D'Arc and Patapon the day I got it - both are excellent games, I'd recommend them. Also, Star Wars: Battlefront: Renegade Squadron came with my PSP (yeah, I have the Darth Vader one). It's not as good; it's fun in groups, but solo play is short, and I don't like the aiming system.

I've also been playing Persona 3: FES on my PS2, which is absolutely amazing. Definitely my new favourite game of all time (and this isn't just that charm a new game has, I've put over 80 hours into it so far). It's so good I haven't played Final Fantasy XII yet (which I bought at the same time). I still need to finish The Answer, and I want to play through again to max all Social Links and beat the hidden boss. Seriously... if you have a PS2/3, buy this. And I'm looking forward to playing Persona 4, but I'm not going to buy it till I'm done with 3. Who knows, maybe an expanded version (like FES for the third) will come out.

My DS has been lent out, but I was playing Luminous Arc, which I didn't like all that much. Wonky touch screen controls that wouldn't let me move my units where I wanted, a lame story and too much grinding, although it was fun at first.

For Christmas, I got Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!), Socom: US Navy Seals: Fireteam Bravo (love this one too) and Rengoku 2: Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N. I doubt anyone here's heard of it, it's rather obscure. The GameSpot review wasn't very favourable. I've only played it for about an hour, but I'm enjoying it so far, although I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't read Dante's Divine Comedy. Too many references. Also, I still feel like I'm missing stuff, having not played the original Rengoku. I'll withhold any serious comments on how good or bad the game is until I get further into it.

As well, I'm enjoying the new PC. Fallout 3's been killing my grades, and I still need to finish up Mass Effect. I stopped just after the

Normandy was impounded on the Citadel.

***SPOILERS OVER! RESUME READING! HAVE A NICE DAY!***

Coincidentally, the same time I got Fallout 3. Another amazing game.

So, yep - that's what I've been up to. Outside of gaming, I got some new skis, but there's only one good hill near where I live (Crapshack, Ontario) and the conditions are crap there right now. So, I'll stick around for a day or two to check out any comments on this blog. Hope to hear from you! Also, I hope everyone had a merry Christmas, and has a happy new year. *Exit w/ cape flourish*
