The Beatles were founded in 1960 in England. Lennon and McCartney were the songwriters. Their producer was George Martin. They created "Beatle Mania" in the UK during 1963.
Beatle mania came to the United States on February 9, 1964 when they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. America was gloom after the assai nation of JFK and the Beatle provided a jolt to a nation. Although they became a worldwide phenomenon, they made enemies like Frank Sinatra. The Beatle had the top 5 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964, something that hasn't been repeated to this day. In mid-1964 the band went on their first world tour, which included Australia and New Zealand. Just before the tour began, Ringo was briefly hospitalized with a severe attack of pharyngitis, so drummer Jimmy Nicol was took his place for several concerts on the Australian leg.
In July 1966 Lennon caused a backlash against The Beatles when he claimed during an interview that Christianity was dying, quipping that the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus." He quickly apologized. The Beatles performed their last concert before paying fans in Candlestick Park in San Francisco on 29 August 1966. On November 9, 1966, after their final tour ended and right after he had wrapped up filming a minor role in the film How I Won the War, Lennon visited an art exhibit of Yoko Ono's at the Indica art gallery in London. Lennon began his love affair with Ono in 1968 after returning from India and leaving his estranged wife Cynthia, who filed for divorce later that year. Lennon and Ono were from then on inseparable in public and private, as well as during Beatles recording sessions. The press was extremely unkind to Ono, posting a series of unflattering articles about her, one even going so far as to call her "ugly." This infuriated Lennon, who rallied around his new partner and said publicly that there was no John and Yoko, but that they were one person, JohnAndYoko. These developments led to friction with the other members of the group, and heightened the tension during the 1968 White Album sessions. Some Beatles fans blame Ono for the Beatles' breakup, but the band had been growing apart almost immediately after the death of their manager Brian Epstein in 1967. Lennon decided to quit the Beatles but was talked out of saying anything publicly. Phil Spector's involvement in trying to revive the Let It Be material then drove a further wedge between Lennon (who supported Spector) and McCartney (who opposed him). Though the split would only become legal some time later, Lennon and McCartney's partnership had come to a bitter end. McCartney soon made a press announcement, declaring he had quit the Beatles, and promoting his new solo record. All four Beatles went on to solo careers.
The Beatles were very influential and still influence today. A 1980s Saturday Night Live sketch has Eddie Murphy playing a saxophonist named Clarence who claims he's the fifth Beatle. His "proof" is a re dubbed Beatle recording with sax sounds and a phony picture that shows him with the band. On The Simpsons Homer tells his kids the time he was in a barbershop quadrant which is similar to The Beatles (Barney even has a Japanese girlfriend!) In 2004, the group Outkast made a music video that was a parody of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show.- Posted Nov 15, 2005 2:31 pm PT

Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945 in Nine Miles, Saint Ann Jamaica to Norval Marley, a Jamaican-born white plantation overseer of Welsh descent, and Cedella Booker, a black teenager from the north country.
Marley began his music career with rocksteady and reggae group "The Wailers", which included two other reggae musicians, Bunny Livingston (Bunny Wailer) and Peter McIntosh (Peter Tosh), both who later left the group and went on to become successful solo artists. After The Wailers broke up 1974, Marley went on with "Bob Marley & The Wailers" with the I Threes (his wife Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths) as backing vocalists. He signed to Chris Blackwell's Island Records label in 1971. Many people believed Blackwell interfered with Marley's music while others believed he made Bob Marley into what he is today. He became famous with his 1975 hit "No Woman No cry."
Bob Marley left Jamaica at the end of 1976, and went to England, where he recorded both Exodus (which included "Jamming", "Waiting in Vain" and "One Love/People Get Ready") and Kaya (which included "Satisfy My Soul" and "Is This Love")
,and where he was arrested for possession of a joint of marijuana (the word kaya is synonymus with marijuana.) Survival came out in 1979 (featuring "Africa Unite" and "Zimbabwe") and Uprising followed in 1980 (it featured "Redemption Song," and "Could You Be Loved." )
In July 1977, Marley found a wound on his right big toe. This turned out to be malignant melanoma, a form of skin treatment. Marley refused to get his toe amputated because of his Rastafarian beliefs that the body must be whole and amputation is a sin. The cancer spread to his brain and lungs by 1980. That same year, while in New York City for a concert tour, he collapsed while jogging in Central Park and had to cancel the tour. He wanted to spend his final days in Jamaica but he became too ill on the flight home and had to land in Miami. He passed away in Miami, Florida on May 11, 1981. His funeral in Jamaica was a dignified affair with combined elements of Ethiopian Orthodoxy and Rastafari. He is buried in a crypt at Nine Miles, near his birthplace, with his Gibson guitar, a bud of marijuana and a Bible.
Bob Marley's music is still influential today. Marley's music is celebrated as rebel music. His sons Ziggy Marley and Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley are singers (Damian Marley recently had a US hit "Welcome to Jamrock.)The collection of Bob Marley hits Legend is still the best selling reggae album of all time. In Jamaica, Bob Marley is viewed as a hero.- Posted Nov 12, 2005 2:46 pm PT

5Nov 05I might not be on next week because I have two tests this week.
So I will sum up Sunday-Friday in this blog:
I became an editor-again! This time its Run's House, (MTV Thursday at 10:30pm) a reality show centered around Reverend Run of the pioneering rap group Rub-DMC. Run's family is different from Ozzy Osbourne's family. They don't curse, but the show is still good.
Also, the Boondocks, another show I edit, begins tomorrow at 11pm on Adult Swim. It follows the adventures of junior revolutionary Huey Freeman and his wannabe gangster brother Riley as they move to a white suburb with their granddad. Based on the controversial comic strip by Aaron McGruder, the show targets celebrities and pop culture, unlike the strip which targets politics, recent news stories, and Bush. So check it out.
Sunday, The Simpsons return with Treehouse of Horror XVI followed by new episodes of Family Guy and American Dad.
For Lost fans, the show returns Wednesday. In that episode, a survivor of the plane crash will die. Who will it be? Find out Wednesday at 9pm on ABC. (Don't forger South Park that same night at 10pm on Comedy Central.)
Friday is a new Bernie Mac at 8pm on FOX.
Saturday Night Live is new with Jason Lee as host with musical guest Foo Fighters.
Tomorrow, I'm going to a birthday party for my friend, so I won't be here.
Also, I'm joining MP3.com (well, going on it I mean.) I want to check that site out because I love music.
That's was the longest blog I've ever posted! Well, better begin studying.- Posted Nov 5, 2005 10:56 am PT

31Oct 05(Today is something special:two blogs in one. Usually, I don't make blogs about Football games, but yesterdays game was special. Yesterday I was going to post my favorite Halloween films, but I didn't have time. So today, I'll do both.)

In their first game since the passing of owner Mara Wellington, the Giants crushed Washington 36-0 at the stadium. Tiki Barber rushed a career high 206 yards, the second-highest total in franchise history. The Giants improved to 5-2, while the Redskins’ fell to 4-3. Coupled with Philadelphia's loss at Denver, the Giants moved into first place in the NFC East.
--------------------------------------------
My Favorite Halloween Films.
5.
Scary Movie 2 (2001)
It's hard to make good sequels, but this one was funny. The Wayan brothers were hilarious.
4.
Signs (2002)
Pretty scary stuff, plus good ending. I liked how they made the aliens scary.
3. Scary Movie (2000)
Very nice parody of horror films. The whole cast was hilarious and I liked the jokes and the plot.
2.
Scream (1996)
Maybe the greatest teen slash horror films. A must see classic
1.
Child's Play
Classic! A doll goes on a killing spree. So the sequels sucked, but the first Child's Play will stand the test of time.
Have a happy Halloween.- Posted Oct 31, 2005 2:00 pm PT

2Oct 05WARNING May contain spoilers!
Family Guy presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story is an 88 minute direct to DVD movie of the popular show. It starts out with all of the characters arriving on the red carpet including Mayor Adam West, Evil Monkey, Kool Aid man, Cleavland, the Griffins, and a VERY drunk Lois. Then they all go in and watch the movie.

The Griffins are at the pool. Peter tries to get Stewie in the pool, but Stewie is afraid. Lois signs him up for swimming lessons where Stewie gets jealous of a classmate that is doing better than him. Stewie tries to kill him (yay, evil Stewie), but his plan backfires and is injured. He sees hell, but wakes up. He decides to give up his evil ways.
Meanwhile, Quahog news gives Peter the chance to host his own segment "What Really Grinds My Gears" where he rants about random stuff. He becomes popular and Tom Tucker is jealous of him. Tom tries to ruin Peter, but backfires. Tom is fired, but gets revenge on Peter (I'm not telling you what happens
)
While Brian and Stewie watch tv, they see a man in San Fransisco that resembles Stewie. Stewie thinks he's his father. Stewie and Brian join Quagmire (who's taking his RV on a cross country tour.)When they finally arrive in San Fransisco, Stewie finds this man, who turns out to be Stewie Griffin from the future! (Now known as Stuart Griffin.) What happens next, you'll have to find out!
Overall this movie was good. It features cameos from characters like Herbert, the nudists, Death, Drew Barrymore, the "big woop, want to fight about it" guy, and more. I'd recommend it for Family Guy fans who want a good time.
