Wow, this has surely been a great 10 years in the Movie industry. We've experienced great action flicks like District 9 and The Dark Knight. Great book to film adaptations like The Lord of the Rings and No Country for Old Men. Also hilarious comedies like Superbad and Pineapple Express. Overall this has been a superb 10 years, and I am indeed looking forward to another great 10 years of films. Bravo!

All right guys, sorry for the long recent absence, life has been indeed busy. So I apologize for not getting at your blogs often. Anyways, I would like to continue my top Horror Movie countdown with #13.
13. Zombieland (2009)

"Nut up, or shut up."
Zombieland stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, as a ragtag four-some, as they scavenge the remains of the world after a zombie apocalypse, looking for other survivors, and the last Twinkee on Earth. While there really isn't much of a story, the movie is still completely awesome. The gore is awesome, the characters are awesome, and you grow with each one, and the appearance of a famous comedy actor was hilarious, and fell right in with the rest of the movie. Horror and Comedy has never really been combined as well as this was made, as it is probably the best one to date, especially if you love Zombie films, this one is top notch, and very, very awesome.

14. 28 Days Later (2003)

"Your days are numbered."
28 Days Later marks the horror debut for the now famous Danny Boyle. The film opens with British animal rights activists breaking into the Cambridge Primate Research Facility. While there, they run into a scientist who warns them that the chimpanzees there are infected with a virus called 'Rage'. They ignore the scientist and free one of the chimps there, which immediately attacks the activists and the scientist, turning them into bloodthirsty freaks. Exactly 28 days later, a man named Jim (Cillian Murphy) awakens from a coma, and finds the city of London to be completely deserted, abandoned, and what looks like the aftermath of serious rampage. After scouting around the city some more, he runs into humans with the 'Rage' virus, and is nearly killed, but is saved by 2 more survivors that stumble upon him, and what follows is one of the greatest zombie films in recent history. The 'Rage' virus is brought out so well, and really doesn't feel like the typical zombie films that the movie community is used to nowadays. The virus is carried from the blood of the infected and can be transferred from one to another by having contact with the blood in any way, shape, or form. The characters were all played out brilliantly, and since there are only a few main protagonists, besides the few that appear later on, you grow so close to them, and it feels as if you are among the last remaining surivors of this Rage apocalypse. The atmosphere is amazing, and is definitely among the best I've experienced in a film. Overall, 28 Days Later is one of the better horror films of the 2000's, and quite possibly the best zombie film to date.

15. Day of the Dead (1985)

"The darkest day of horror the world has ever known."
George Romero's 1985 cl@ssic is actually the third installment in 'The Dead' series. It stars a group of survivors taking refuge in an underground Military bunker, soon after the zombie outbreak that took place in 'Night' and in 'Dawn'. While staying in the bunker, the government assigns the residents there into 3 groups. The scientists, the people trying to find a cure for the outbreak, the military who protect the rest, and the civilians, the other survivors. Along the course of the movie, the outside zombies try to find ways to make their way inside of the bunker, while some of the survivors on the inside start to turn against each other. This was a great zombie film. The performances were good, especially from the character of Captain Rhodes. The atmosphere felt great and real, and you felt like you were one of the survivors the entire way through. Overall, this was a great horror film that each fan will enjoy.

16. Pet Sematary (1989)

"Sometimes dead is better."
This 80's cl@ssic takes place around the 80's in the film as well. It stars Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff), a Doctor from Chicago, as he and his family have just arrived in the small city of Ludlow, Maine. On the day on their arrival, they meet a nice old widowed neighbor across the road, named Jud Crandall. After the Creed's family cat is run over on the road by a Semi, Jud informs of a strange burying ground that's has the power to resurrect the dead called 'The Mic-Mac Burying Ground'. After burying the cat, Church, it comes back to life the next day but in a strange and strange form. Sooner or later, a tragic and depressing event comes into play which forces a heartbroken father to literally take part in the unthinkable, and perform something so horrifying, it may prove life or death. In my opinion, this was a great horror film. It stayed intact to the book incredibly well, although it did occasionally leave out a few parts and characters like Norma Crandall, the wife of Jud, which made the movie seem like it was missing something. The acing of Jud and Gage Creed were literally spot on with those in the novel, and it felt as if I was revisiting the book and all of its inhabitants again. Overall, Pet Sematary is a great film, although the novel was of course better, this didn't do bad at all.

17. Dead Alive (1993)

"Some things won't stay down...even after they die."
Dead Alive begins on the fictional island of Skull Island. After an explorer takes a rat-monkey from the island inside of a cage, he is soon seen with bites and scratches on his body. He is soon horribly murdered by the locals of the Island, and the film quickly cuts to New Zealand. Lionel Cosgrave lives with his mother in her home in New Zealand. While on a trip to the zoo with her, she is bitten by the rat-monkey and soon develops zombie like symptoms. And sooner than later, all hell breaks loose in the city of Wellington. What Dead Alive is mostly notorious for is its extremely bizarre and over the top violence. Even though it was considerably gruesome, it is what made the movie. The acting is cheesy, the story is so-so, but since the rest was so great and fun, so was the way the movie turned out. Peter Jackson, creator of the LotR Trilogy, directed this one about 15 years ago before even thinking of Hobbits, and he did a great job. It also has 2 iconic scenes in films, the "Zombie Landmower Scene" (cl@ssic) and the "Pus Custard Scene" which was completely sick. This was a great horror film IMO, and is indeed one of the cl@ssics of generation of zombies.
I have just started watching the entire 'Saw' series in order, in turn for seeing the 6th installment at the end of this month. I have just finished the first and here is the review on it, although it is the same for my top 20 Horror Movies. I actually found this one to be quite enjoyable and good.
SAW
A long while ago, the 'Saw' franchise began with a short film that came out in 2003 also called 'Saw'. Since then, the series has now become popular for a thing called 'torture porn', and is also known for already having 5 entrees in the series, along with a sixth coming out this month, and a seventh coming out next year, and it'll probably break it's promise of stopping, and go on from there. The 2 I found to be the best in the series were the original 'Saw' (above) and Saw III, which should of been the "last" one in the series. Anyways, the first is my favorite because of many reasons. The traps were great (reverse bear trap was awesome), the gore wasn't spontaneous and in-your-face kind of way like the sequels, the characters were believable and it actually felt like they were fighting for their lives. But what the original 'Saw' maintained was a balanced out sense of sane horror. Anyways, the plot here is actually pretty simple. Two men are trapped in a room, in chains, chained to pipes. A dead body lies in the middle of the floor, the two men don't know how or who got them there. All they know is that they have only a limited time to escape otherwise ones family will be murdered. This simultaneously happens in the plot while a distraught Detective Tapp (portrayed by Danny Glover) obsesses over finding the Jigsaw killer after losing his partner to the madman. This 'Saw' is indeed a cl@ssic as it maintains a good balance between sane horror and over the top horror. You grow so well with the 2 characters of Adam and Dr. Gordon, that at the end of the film you're about near to root them on at the climax, and then having that fail with complete and utter shock and a somewhat depressing resolution. James Wan's directing was top notch, and Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes both did extremely talented performances as both Adam and Dr. Gordon, and they were both hugely believable. Yes, this movie is quite gruesome and dark, especially in the last final scenes, but it really doesn't go out of hand and out of its way to bring a slasher film, and instead brings a film that stays true to sane horror. This is the film that literally started the whole Torture phenomenon in films we've come to see, and also has a huge cliffhanger for an ending will most likely shock a first time viewer, or even still get at the fans who have seen it multiple times like myself. A great movie, that really doesn't go out of its way, and indeed a cl@ssic horror film.
Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I have also turned to Level 27 today, from Cyber-Lip to...Sheng Long.

18. Child's Play (1988 )

"Something's moved in with the Barclay family, and so has terror."
In Child's Play, a serial killer on the run named Charles Lee Ray, is apprehended by a Chicago cop in a Toy Store. Afraid of being arrested, he uses voodoo to convert his soul, and possess a "Good Guy" doll. The detective is unable to find Ray's body, as the Toy Store is struck by lightning, and burns to the ground. The next day, young Andy Barclay, who is celebrating his 6th birthday, receives the possessed doll as a Birthday present from his mother, and soon, all hell breaks loose. As that same night rolls on, the babysitter of Andy suddenly plunges out of the window of their apartment, and falls to her death below. The police arrive on the crime scene and notice footprints in spilt sugar surrounding the murder scene that match to the shoes of the young Barclay. Although he claims that the doll 'Chucky' is alive and was the one who murdered the babsitter, but who is telling the truth, and who is the real killer? What was really great about Child's Play was that the built up suspense was maintained until about half way through the film until the real killer was revealed, although it is quite obvious at times to tell who it is, and especially if you know a lot about this series. Another really great part was that this film mostly ruined everybody's childhood, since it introduced a killer doll into the mix, and truly gave people some nightmares. While the sequels weren't all intelligent and creative like this one, especially 'Bride' and 'Seed', this one was great. It was also probably the last and one of the best movies of the 80's, just because it's a cl@ssic and it, of course, introduced the killer doll we've come to known as Chucky.

Good morning, Gamespot.
I have redubbed, and changed my top list of Horror movies, to that more of my liking, after remembering some of these great cl@ssics from the past few years.
We will begin with number 20.
20. Halloween II (1981)

"More of the night HE came home."
Halloween II is the direct follow-up sequel to the 1978 original. It stars Jamie Lee Curtis again as the tormented Laurie Strode, the sister to the psychotic serial killer Michael Myers. On the same night the original took place on, Laurie is taken to the Haddonfield Hospital to be treated for her wounds and trauma from the horror she has just experienced. It seems Michael has now found where she is in hiding, and is on another bloody rampage through the Hospital in order to find her. This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest horror sequels ever, and was the last great film in the series before the dreaded third, and the rest of the senseless gratuitous violence in the later sequels. The Hospital's atmosphere was great, and was brought greatly to the big screen. It added to the momentum and suspense later on in the film with a few good chase sequences between Strode and Myers, and then it all leads off to one big showdown, and a great "ending" to the series. So, if you're looking for a great horror film with a great atmosphere, acting, and suspense, then by all means see this film.
I have just finished my Batman: Arkham Asylum review. It was a very good game, but I was disappointed I had to return it back to the video store, it was just that great. I haven't posted a review in nearly a month and a half now, but it seems I still have got it in me.
The review is now up:
Well, thanks for reading everybody!

I finally got to rent this epic superhero masterpiece today, and so far, I'll have to say it is far outliving my normal expectations of it. Detective mode is great, and it really makes you feel like you are solving a realistic mystery behind Arkham Asylum. The stealth movies and combat moves are great, and it never feels so better to play as the Caped Crusader.

Sorry the recent activity in my blogs and such, guys. I've been lately swamped in work from school, projects, tests, etc. So sorry if I've been unable to comment your blogs or whatever, I've also been working as much as I possibly can on the Union while balancing the rest of my work out. Sorry again
.I also tried renting ODST yesterday as well, but was too late, as it was checked out 3 hours previously to my showing. I will now replay the series starting with the first, which I'm starting today.
Thanks for reading!

R.I.P. Patrick Swayze
August 18th, 1952-September 14th, 2009

I can't believe that his death was so sudden. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late January of 2008. It's strange to see him go. A truly great actor. Rest in peace.

7. Predator

This is it, the granddaddy of all of those spin-offs, AVP, and a decent enough sequel, 'Predator'. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, and a whole other bunch of good actors, as a battalion of troops sent out into the jungles of Guatemela in order to rescue a kidnapped presidential cabinet minister, captured by Guerrilla forces. After partaking in a few firefights with the Guerrillas, the squad eventually run into their ultimate invisible enemy, the Predator, who uses heat vision to track each one down and brutally murder them, and suddenly the squad has found their real enemy. This was a cl@ssic when it was released. The acting was great, the directing was good, and the suspense and tension built up throughout the film remained maintained until the last confrontation. Anyways, a great Sci-Fi movie with plenty of action scenes and tension to give it a truly unique feeling. It was also the last great film before the sequel and spin-offs came in.
Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Also below, is another movie I previously finished last night, and my thoughts of it were not what I expected.

House of 1000 Corpses
Well, this is the predecessor to Rob Zombie's awesome 'The Devil's Rejects'. It surrounds two couples, Denise, Jerry, Mary, and Bill (portrayed by the now popular Rainn Wilson) as they try to find the mystery of the psychotic Dr. Satan, an infamous serial killer who tortured his victims. Along the way they run into the deadly Firefly Clan, who eventually capture and torture them in their own little strange games. Well, all I can say is that this is probably one of the strangest movies I have seen in quite some time. Rob Zombie has made yet another film where I feel as if I'm on an acid trip, and dreaming at the same time. Those are due to the weird flashback scenes with grainy looking camera wrok and such, and most of it didn't even make sense...and the rest of the film just felt like a gigantic dream. It also had the bare resemblance of a spin-off movie of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was far superior, and even Bill Moseley, who played 'Chop-Top' in TCM2, was here again as Otis, but instead of the gung-ho psycho son as I liked him in Devil's Rejects, he just felt like another version of Chop-Top. The acting was bad from only about 1 or 2 characters, especially Sheri Moon, and I really didn't get why she was laughing in every scene she was in, that annoying little giggle. One of the movie's only saving graces is the performance of Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding) who does an excellent job here. The atmosphere of the movie was eerie and somewhat realistic at times, and it produced some momentum throughout. I also enjoyed how the movie sucked me in a few times, and actually made me feel like I couldn't escape the Fireflys, or even the horrid house itself, along with the other characters. The movie does have its gruesome and strange scenes, and it's awfully predictable half-way through. Overall this was a less than average horror film that was a mediocre debut to Zombie's movie career, and didn't even live up to the average Halloween (2007). Definitely not his strongest.

I also turned Level 26 today, but no more Defias Brotherhood title, and now onto...Cyber-Lip.

All right, sorry about the absence yesterday, I also missed the 9th movie on my top 10 List, so here it is, plus number 8.

9. Star Trek (2009)

This 2009 installment of the long running franchise basically chronicles the beginning of Star Trek, even before the Original Motion Picture. It shows the beginning start of the 'Enterprise', her crew, and the rise of James T. Kirk. I'll just say straight out that the acting was awesome from each character, and it gave the feeling that you want to stay along on the entire ride with this crew, since they were so good to begin with. The character of Spock was played so well by Zachary Quinto, and he looked exactly like the original Spock, that I had to think twice when he first appeared on the screen. The movie's action scenes were great, and the special effects were top notch. Overall this was a great Sci-Fi Film that combined great acting and action with directing to make a good comeback to the Star Trek series, although I haven't seen any previous installments in the series at all.

8. Men in Black

Here, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones star as two agents from the secret organization, the 'Men in Black'. They help rid Earth of aliens or any other extra terrestrial lifeform. But the arrival of a new and more deadly alien may prove difficult for the two, since it may mean the destruction of the entire world, and it's up to them to stop it. This movie was awesome, as it felt as if real aliens were living on Earth, and the performances by Smith and Jones were great and hilarious. With the combination of Sci-Fi and also Comedy, it truly delivers some funny one-liners, scenes, and some preposterous alien creatures, like Frank. I seriously cannot remember how many times I've seen this, since it just keeps on getting better with every viewing. Anyways, one of the better popcorn movies of the 90's, and a really fun time.
