    FarCry 2's downfall

I can say right now I was the biggest Far Cry 2 supporter before it came out. I just about sexed myself while thinking about it. Once I got it though... I was sad, very sad.

Sure, the game is gorgeous, and the weapons feel great, and I love the fire. FIRE!

But, here are the real reasons why this game didn't go down in history:

    1. Story. Sure you were hunting some guy...but who cares? I never once felt strongly about him, or about me... or about any of the characters in game. I thought that I would have some real emotional attachments with these people, and truely want to help them/ save them. Instead their AI was alittle wacky and they spoke too fast, which brings be to my next point.

    2. Better dialogue. Did they record everyone with a gun to their head? They spoke SO fast it was ridiculous.

    3. Better use of time. Driving around Liberty city and screwing around is alot of fun. Driving around in Far Cry's Africa became very quickly a chore. Just the long travel time to get from one side of a map to another was exhausting. Not to mention EVERY car is full of people wanting to kill you. Speaking of which.

    4. Enemy AI. I feel like they could have done more with it, instead of just making it really hard to kill each guy. And why is it that after I destroy a enemy post, they are there again when I come back?

    5. More varied missions. Yes, the game allowed you to approach a mission any way you want. But can't I approach different types of missions differently? Mostly, it was just sneak up to bad guys, kill bad guys. I know its a fps, but common.

    6. I might get yelled at but... more cinematic moments. Free play is great, but properly mixing it with preplanned events can always add something unexpected and wonderful. Plus, its a great way to create true emotions for the people around you. Look at Call of Juarez, they did this PERFECTLY.

With such an amazing game engine at Ubisoft's disposal, and a game series that is still very well respected in the community for its cutting edge graphics and gameplay, Far Cry still has a bright future. But there is alot of work that needs to be done in order to capture the large audiences that CoD and others have found.

    Good luck Ubisoft.
