Well it's official......i'm off to college in about 3 weeks. Got the official acceptance last week and all of my move in info for residence.
Should be interesting it's not like i'm new to being away from home i've been doing it since i was 7 and it's not like i'm at all far from home. My brother is 5 mineutes away my sister 15 and my parents 45. So it'll be nice to be on my own but still be able to go home every once and a while at least for the first year on my own.
I am really psyched for it though i've worked pretty hard to get into college...it took me a couple more years then most but I got there. I love my parents and everything but it'll be nice to get some independence.
I got a little head start with the whole independence thing last week when my parents went out of town and I was at my sisters. I had always had my hair at chin length or longer but i have always wanted it short but my mom never let me. I'm an athletic person so short hair made sense to me. So well she was gone I got it cut, she was a little suprised.
Anyway that's all I got.

Let the fun begin!

Hey guys,
Now right off the bat. I really needed to get this off my chest. If this offends any Americans it's not meant to, I am just expressing my own opinion. If any one actually reads this and would like to counter with their own feel free.
First of I AM CANADIAN! I am a very proud Canadian, I love hockey and snow and proudly spell colour with a U and pronounce Z as "Zed" instead of "Zee" I have always been for Canada being it's own country with it's own identity. Which at times is hard because we are very close to the states and lots of things we do are influenced by them. And a lot of people group us in with the US and assume we are very much the same. Well we are not! Canada doesn't have one uniform identity like the US does. We are made up of many cultures and languages and embrace the common wealth.
The recent events that have caused me to write this are these:
1. For as long as I have been around our dollar has been about 70 cents for one US dollar. But for the last year or so though it has been par (98 cents right now). But we are still paying about 18% more for things then the US. It is esspecially annoying on books, a hardcover costs you 20 bucks and we are paying 5-10 bucks more for it.
2. Our national broadcaster CBC (a government owned TV station) aired a show called MVP last spring. It was a drama about hockey players and their personal lives. I love hockey but it was to soapy for me and I mever got into it. But the other day I am watching ABC and on comes an add for the MVP airing on soapnet. They called it an original ABC series. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Look up original in the dictionary it means your the first one to come up with it. You could say for the first time in America. But you cannot just buy the rights to it and say that you came up with it.
Finally the thing that really tipped it
3. The Hockey Night in Canada song. For those of you who don't know hockey is a big deal here. Every Saturday night for 50 years CBC has Hockey Night In Canada! Where two NHL game are aired of Canadian teams. It is something of a tradition it's a big deal. It has had the same theme song for it's entire exsistence. Almost every Canadian could recognize it or hum out the tune. It is one of the few songs I know that can unite a country and multiple generations all at once. But it too has been sold. CTV bought the rights to it. They also won(bought) the rights to air the 2010 olympics which has always been held by CBC. CBC is government funded and doesn't have the same money American backed CTV does. It isn't right that the few things that have always been untouched by American influence the few things that our truly ours ar being sold to the highest bidder. Why don't you just take our national anthem and the few pro hockey teams you've left us with.
I needed to say it.
GOD BLESS CANADA!

It's bad enough that there is no longer any new episodes on (with a few exceptions of course). But they have to cancell perfectly good TV. I am of course talking about The 4400 and Dead Zone. It seems to me that more sci-fi shows are being cancelled than new ones are coming our. I was still trying to deal with the gap left by Stargate SG-1. Sci-fi shows are constantly on the chopping block (Atlantis avoided it this year thank god), Meanwhile shows like "don't forget the lyrics" and "the biggest loser" are constantly getting renewed.
I know that sci-fi isn't the biggest genre out there but this is getting rediculous.
I am very happy that after Christmas shows like Kyle XY and Stargate Atlantis come back with new eps. Hopefully that will be enough to fill the void so I don't have to go to the dark side of reality TV.

Hey there,
Got back from my trip on sunday. I came back more exhausted then when I left but that often seems to be the case with vacations.
The first part of the trip was going to the Canmore for my cousins tenth wedding anniversary. It was very cool. When they got married they had there wedding at a mountain top ski resort called Sunshine village during the summer. It's closed down during the summer so we had the hotel and every thing to ourselves. So for there tenth wedding anniversary party they rented out the hotel again and had about 100 people back up to the resort. It's really beautiful in the summer. And makes you rethink what your skining down in the winter. We did some hiking during the day and some drinking at night. It was fun hanging out with my brother and cousins.
The second part of the trip my dad, sister, dog and I went to my grandparents cottage in upper state New York. It was fun with the usual swimming boating hiking and other cottage stuff.
Unfortunatly I had to get back to reality rather quickly with school registration this week and school next week.

So I have had somewhat of a wiered week.
I was at the mall with my friend and we sere waiting in line for the new roller coster. Some people got out of a car and one of them looked remarkably similar to my childhood hero Grant Fuhr (he is a hockey hall of famer that grew up in my home town and played for the Edmonton Oilers during their cup years. I have been playing hockey in a rink dedicated to him my whole life.) Hold on it gets stranger. We went for lunch and I was in line at Arby's when I realized I was standing behind the guy that looked Like Fuhr. It could have been but I didn't have the guts to ask him if he was.
I also saw what I am pretty sure was a very large and bright comet. Being an amature atronomer that was cool.
Also the mouse that lives in the walls of my basement bedroom decided to get some fresh air and come say hi while I was on my couch. The Escabar (the mouse) went back into the walls and persisted to keep me up for the last week.
That's all the wiered stuff.

Hello!
Got a few new box sets and DVD's.
Got the first two Bourne movies so I can watch them before the Bourne Ultimatum.
I also got Seasons 8 and 10 of Stargate SG-1. I started watching SG-1 regularly in season 9 mainly because it wasn't on the channels I got. Also SG-1 started when I was 9 and it was on way past my bedtime but I saw bits and pieces of the first 5 seasons because I would sneak down and watch it with my older brother and sister. Until my parents caught me and told me to go to bed. So I have always been a fan of the show. So i've been working my way from end to begining with the box sets from season 8 and hopefully getting them all.
I went to costco and found a deal on a box set of 4 documentaries I guess you would call them of real footage of fighter jets. The F-14,F-16,F-18, and F-15. Lets face it you can't go wrong with anything involving fighter jets. The only exception being a Steven Segal movie called Flight of Fury. Segal is the only actor I know of that could take an exciting sounding plot and good footage of some stealth fighters and make it so boring and awful that i couldn't sit through the first half an hour.
Anyhow that's all I got for now.

Hello!
I know the title might seem a little odd as most people get the winter blues and not the summer ones. But I myself have never stuck to the norm so I get the summer blues.
The main reasons being I am a winter person always have been and always well be. I can't stand the heat of summer and spend more time in my basement in the summer than I do in fall and winter. Luckely I live in a place that gets at least 6 months of winter. But the last few summers have been unusually hot here (damn global warming!). My favorite pastime is hockey. And since there are no sports that i reguarly play in summer and no school I suddenly have way to much time on my hands. Being a fidgety bordering on ADD person free time does not bode well.
The accwisition of satelite has eased it a little with the discover of new shows and channels. I've also been building alot of models. Something about painting and piecing together hundreds of small pieces to get a detailed model of a plane is great for killing time. I also read the new Harry Potter book that only took 9 days to finish and probably only 7-10 hours of reading. And now I am sad that the series is over as that was the last fiction book i'll probably read for a while.
Anyhow till' next time.

I have finally come into the modern age. For the first time in my life I have more then 4 channels to watch! I have had satilite for a couple of weeks and considering it's summer, have had plenty of time to watch it. I also have discovered the wonders of DVR which is awesome! I've found that being the nerd that I am I mostly watch the History, Discovery, Military and Space channels. I think i've watched more documentarys in 2 weeks then in most of my highschool years. I have also been able to catch up on some shows that were on pesant view(4 channels) for 1 season or half a season before being taken off and replaced with a reality show. I've been able to get caught up on JAG, the Unit, One Tree Hill and more.
Yay for technology!

So as you can tell from the title this is my first blog. I've been wanting to get off my chest my feelings about the latest season of Stargate Atlantis and the upcoming season so here t it goes.
I think in my whole hearted realatively new to consistenly watching sci-fi that this was my favorite season of Atlantis. Most of the episodes were good. And it was chock full of the halarious back and forth between characters and great one liners. Plus the ailien butt kicking and space battles that are why I love it in the first place. The best episode was by and far Tao McKay. Nothing makes a better episode than giving by far the most egotistical character in 2 galaxy's super human powers. I can't wait to see how they get out of there current predicament they were in at seasons end. A new planet a new leader (Carter) and Michale's new super wraith should prove to be an interesting season four.
I am glad that Carter is comming over for season 4. And to be totally honest i was never a big fan of Dr. Wier. I didn't mind her or anything but i am not terribly broken up about her being fazed out. What will be interesting is the pregnancy of Teyla. Still wondering how that will come about and who the father will be. I'm hoping Sheppard because I got the sense that Teyla liked him in "Sunday".
Anyway that's all i have to say for now.
PS.
Welcome to my friend Ty who just joined the site.
