    Dark Knight Reviews

Having seen Dark Knight twice now, and read my share of reviews i have noticed a recurring theme. Those who dislike it (though few) and even those who do, are quick to call it potentially over-rated. Edgier critics and those trying to draw some attention to themselves seem to believe the film is overrate by the mystique surround Heath Ledgers death, but it is my belief that people are so fixed on Ledgers death, that they are quick to second guess the film and as a result, under rate a very mature film that features some of the best acting ever. Its a sad irony.

    My THoughts E3

Microsoft: In an attempt to render their competition completely obsolete, Microsoft spent E3 bragging about how they had stolen all of Sony's major franchises (only not completely just in multiplat form) and Nintendos Miis. Overall i got the sense that while their efforts were strong, they are just too late to the party. No one is gonna say wow 360 has avatars, im selling my wii. and ofcourse nintendo's overall more family friendly aspects still make them the more obvious choice between the two. Lets face it, microsoft isn't catching wii and should really stick to their guns. Microsoft obviously has a strong line up with new gears and fable footage, but you couldnt help feeling they were more interested in bragging about their big news, getting ffxiii on the 360, then talking about what other games they had in the future.
Nintendo: what an interesting approach. It is obvious that this gen nintendo has decided to cater to casual gamers and even non gamers. And which they do have titles that are more for long time gamers, none were seen at this E3. Not to explode but WTF ARE YOU THINKING NINTENDO. THis is E3, your not running advertisments bookending episdoes of spongebob, there AREN'T casual gamers at e3, this is your attempt to show the industry that you are a serious company and the best you got is annoying PR lady, DJ Ravi Drums becoming the butt of all videogame jokes, and basically your whole staff looking like you really aren't having fun with your crappy games? The journalists and gamers here are guys who loved your flagship franchises metroid, zelda, and mario. Nothing of this was seen. What about the guys hardcores who loved NMH surely you could attract them with Mad World or Kid Icarus or something. Even the people who really liked the creative potential of the wii mote seen in Boom Blox, maybe you could show them deBlob or whatever its called. Nintendo missed the target audience at e3 and left a bad taste in many a mouth.
Sony: After the ffxiii blow sony had to come up with something good. I think they had the best showing and heres why. They played game montages, so you know they are serious about getting games out. Yeah a lot of it was already known but some of it wasn't which for now is good enough for them. Little Big Planet continues to turn heads and was used very well to show sony's business end. Now unfortunately, the conference spent a little bit too much time waxing poetic about how sony used to be so great and still is nd blahdy blah. Is comes off as pretentious to spend this much time talking about how innovative and technology pushing as that, especially when they ran clips of developers gushing over the cell. like i said before pretentious. Run more trailers, preview more games thats really what this is about! One of the things i liked a lot was how they concluded the description of the videostore on PSN (which really has some super power studio backing!) by saying it was available today. Instant gratification rocks.

So in the end im very excited for LBP, and think sony has some truely good titles coming to ps3 and psp soon. Ive also been toying with the idea of getting enough money together to get a 360, and games like gears2 and especially Fable really made me think, although at the end i wasn't shown enough in the way of forth coming games to really convince myself i want to take that step, especially considering my room mate next year has a 360. Sony impressed generally, MS made me at least weigh my options more closely, and Nintendo reminded me time and time again why i think the wii is a crappy fad that caters has set polarizing goals.
