w00t was originally an acronym for "we owned other team" in competitive online gaming, but used by 1337 Speak for some of the letters (w00t instead of woot). It is now commonly used as an interjection of joy.The term has since adopted a more general meaning.

1) An interjection similar to "YAYE!" or "Woohoo!" used to express joy or excitement, usually about some kind of accomplishment. Primarily used by gamers, spreading rapidly to anyone who chats online

or Wonderful Loot (Everquest gaming slang *not used comenly anymore*)

2) To express agreement
3) As an acronym, can mean Waste of Our Time or Way Out of Topic (online forums) Less common.(vary rarely used also.)

1337 speak origins from leet which origins from elite. Leet was just short for elite at that time. People consider being "l33t" is an internet way of being "cool and elite, owning every one else, superior. etc".

The language was intended principally to bypass automatic text parsers, perhaps because the originators of the convention felt they were under some form of surveillance, or desired for other reasons to have private conversations in public spaces. Hence the term elite, as only those 'in the know' could easily read what was said. This style of speaking has now been abandoned by a number of the original users and hackers, as it is supposedly being over-used by 'n00bs' in situations where it is not needed.

A form of English characterized by bad translation from Japanese by someone who is decent at translating vocabulary but has a poor grasp of English grammar. Tends to be a word-by-word literal translation with humorous results for native English speakers. Engrish is most common in old video games and anime subtitles.

The term "Engrish" comes from the fact that the Japanese language does not have distinct L and R sounds. They do have a consonant that is roughly somewhere in between these two sounds, but whether this translates to L or R in English depends on the situation (and therefore can be interpreted wrong.)

Contrary to popular belief it wasnt a 1337 word since the bigging of this word existence, but in fact an ENGRISH (next word to deffine) slash misspelled word, and then used in 1337 speak.

pwned (the most likely to be original one) is a corruption of the word "Owned." The origin is in debate, there are several hypotheses were this word was originated from:

1)(The most likely to be true) in an online game called "Warcraft", where a map designer misspelled "owned." instead of pressing the letter "O" he pressed "p" since their right next to each other. This was when the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned." (Engrish sentence) Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

2) A prominent "quake" player misspelled "owned" and the new word "pwned" was adopted by people who thought it was "1337".

3) In the game called "Counter Strike" this is not supposed to be a misspelled 'owned' it formed when an opposing player was killed with a pistol instead of a main gun, so they would be pistol owned or pwned

4) pwned started with "Warcraft" but it was no mistake. Money was given for killing a hero. Pawning of the heroes head. While owning him at the same time.

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some Super-human-like or computer-like force.
