    Mind-numbing awesomness... and stuff

Holy Jesus, Uncharted 2 is amazing! I mean... WHOA. What a masterpiece that game was, what a full package. I love that game! If you haven't played it, if you don't own it, you have no excuse. You don't have money to buy it? Well the game is called "Among Thieves", if you get my drift. The graphics are better than anything I've ever seen before, the gameplay is top-notch, the writing is unbelievably natural, the soundtrack is epic, the story is cool, everything is just outstanding. That's my initial impression after beating the game on Normal. And I haven't even started multiplayer!

As for more amazing impressions, how about MGS4? Well, it's awesome. I'm on Act 3 right now (I think there's four or five), and it's really good. I'm not too fond of Act 3 right now, as it seems to highlight some of the AI oddities, like how you can go unseen as long as you're a few yards away from the PMCs, but for gameplay purposes it works. Besides that, it's just as good as the GameSpot review said, it's a perfect blend of intense storytelling and gameplay.

That's it I guess. So far, the PS3 is one awesome console. I'm going to see Avatar today, I hope it's as good as everyone says! Then, I'm hooking up PSN for some multiplayer matches of MGO and Uncharted 2.

    I out.

    Christmas stuff, including PS3

Well, the wonderful time that is Christmas has come and gone, and now we have a whole year of waiting before it comes again. But alas, we have new things to play with and use to hold us over till' next year. Here's what I have to keep my occupied until that time again. Sorry for the low quality, I'm using a webcam....

    Photobucket

That's my mountain of gifts, which are:

    • The Halo Encyclopedia
    • The Longest Day
    • Harry Potter 6
    • 2001: A Space Odyssey
    • Citizen Kane (not shown in pic)
    • Star Trek (the new one)
    • New Super Mario Bros. Wii
    • Mario Kart Wii
    • Some really fancy pen and lead pencil
    • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
    • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
    • PLAYSTATION 3 SLIM

As you can see, the PS3 Slim is the main attraction here. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with my new stuff. In fact, I'm estatic, I didn't expect I'd end up getting nearly this much!

I hope everyone had an excellent Christmas, here's hoping for another good one.

My Game of the Decade Awards: Part 3/3

At last, the list comes full circle. I've decided to narrow it down to five games, the five best games of an entire decade...

    This decade.

I made that last sentence it's own paragraph for dramatic effect.

    And that one.

    And that one.

As well as that previous one. Jokes and giggles aside, here is the Top 5 Best Games of the Decade:

5.The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Zelda's first foray onto the wonderful little 'Cube drew many weary eyebrows with it's incredibly strange cell-shaded visuals, which sported a very different look than it's predecessors. When the game released however, the doubters immediately shut their mouths when the game ended up kicking many kinds of ass. The cell-shaded style was both artistically and technically outstanding, the music was epic, and the gameplay waspure excellency. It also had tons of side quests and exploration, effectively doubling the 15 hours you should spend with the main quest into 30 (in case you couldn't do the math). It was epic and fulfilling, but it also had a nice quirky sense of humor, something Zelda games had previously lacked. What else can I say that hasn't already been said? The power of the Tri-force is strong with this one.

    4. Super Mario Galaxy

To be blunt, this is the finest Mario game I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The gameplay and level design is more than what I ever could asked for, as it fine-tunes the tried-and-true platforming elements, but made it completely unique with the best level designs in the history of video games, and the actual theme of the game, outer space, which changed the game both cosmetically and in gameplay. Plus, it had the finest visuals the Wii has ever seen, and an amazing soundtrack. Best game of this generation? I guess so.

    3. Jak and Daxter

Jak and Daxter, a jack of all trades game. (No pun intended) It has tight platforming, action, amazing graphics and audio, great characters, variety and a wonderful sense of humor. Jack of all trades, master of all. It's actually a lot like Banjo-Kazooie, only on performance enhancing drugs andtimes 100. I can't really think of anything else to say, just for some reason, I really love Jak and Daxter.

    2. Metal Gear Solid 3

MGS3 is a testament to all that MGS stands for; stealth, survival, and incredible storytelling. Unfortunately, previous MGS games had marvelous stories, but they could sometimes get a bit too corny and plot twists would come extremely abruptly. So is not the case in MGS3, with absolutely no cheese, no ridiculously complicated plot, but rather an intricate spy story filled with action, romance, emotion, and betrayal. I simply can't praise the story enough, but I don't want to spoil anything, so let's just say you'll be blown away. Oh, and unless you're extremely cold, you'll probably end up spilling a few tears, if that means anything. Alongside the incredible plot is some of the best MGS gameplay yet, which is not only stealthy, but also puts a focus on survival, as you must manage Snake's hunger, stamina, and health all at once. To stop Snake from being hungry, you must hunt the wildlife in the Russian jungle around you, be it alligators, birds, snakes, or even humans. (Just kidding )

    1. Halo: Combat Evolved

Hell yes. I truly cannot describe how godly this game is. The graphics and art direction are outstanding, the weapons and vehicles are unique and control perfectly, the story is both eerie and amazing, the multiplayer is a riot, everything about Halo is excellent. Heck, it's perfect. Mary Poppins has got NOTHING on Halo. (That was a semi-sneaky reference) I don't think I'd even be the Halo fanboy I am today had it not been for this initial, mind-blowing first-impression. It's extremely entertaining, it's sci-fi mastery, it's a blow-em up fest, it's tactical, it's Halo, and you simply can't go wrong by owning it, and inevitably enjoying it.

    =======================================================

Sorry there are still no screenshots of the fore-mentioned games, but I forgot my username for Photoshop. First it doesn't work, now I can't use it. Oh well, a text blurb can potentially speak 1000 words. Thanks for reading.
