I've made so many comments, it's like comment-palooza!

Jensen says "Way to go Em! Let's go back to my place to really celebrate! You can bring DB, it'll be fun!" and DB says "Yay, that's a lot of commenting! Don't touch Jensen. Damn it!"This is a celebration marking my 5000th post on tv.com. That includes blogs and forum posts. It's kind of scary to think I've made that many comments over the past 6 months or so. I have been a member for more than a year, but it was some time in March that I really started being active on this site. And that is all thanks to the great people I have met here on tv.com
So, I'm going to tell you who those people are. Unfortunately a lot of people are hitting big milestones recently, so this idea is not quite as original as I'd like it to be. Of course I am going to leave some people, out so I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings if that happens. Otherwise this blog would be so big. Because there are a lot of people that make tv.com fun for me.
At first I didn't write blogs at all. I just came to the site to look up information about shows I liked, as I used to do on the old tvtome. But then I started taking a peek into the forums. I think I first started to make friends on the Bones forum. Then I moved onto watching Buffy, which was a direct result of Bones and of course David Boreanaz. In fact, I really blame DB for much of the time I've spent here. So I met people on the Buffy forum and eventually on the Angel forum as I started watching it. Then I started reading people's blogs and commenting (obviously!)then writing my own. It's been great fun having people come to my blogs and tell they enjoy what I've written.
OhBones--OhB was one of the very first people I remember talking with, mainly because of Bones Fans United. She made me feel welcome and made the Bones forum fun to play on. Of course I also love her blogs because she's been posting the top hotties of film and tv and I've certainly found a few new ones I wouldn't kick out of bed.
noahcrash--I can't even begin to describe Joey and the fun I have had with him over the past months. (It might have something to do with Em being Joey and Joey being Em). He always cheers me up and makes me feel special even when he has 100's of friends on this site. This man must never sleep. Between his games and the unbelievably long and complexblogs he does. I think he's seen every movie ever made and liked all of them. He has also listened to every album and watched half of the tv shows ever made. And he loves sharing all of this with us. I have no idea where he even finds half of the amazing things he puts in his blogs.
kcohan1--Kimmy and I bonded over Buffy, especially because she usually has a Buffy avatar and I usually have Angel. I think she is also the person responsible for telling me I HAD to start watching Supernatural, which has since become one of my all time favorite shows. (Thanks, Kimmy!) We have such similar taste in TV and sense of humor. Kimmy's actually coming to vist next month, for a Buffy singalong and then for a naughty weekend in Reno....and trust me what happens in Reno is going to need to stay in Reno.
engel_j_ackles--One of my new bestest friends. She always surprises me with deliciously naughty emails. Let's just say that tv.com and I are now a lot pervier than before I met her. And that's saying a lot. She has kept me up way past my bedtime IM'ing because she works nights at a hotel, so she needs something to occupy her time. Engel is visiting me with Kimmy, so it will definitely be a Super-fun weekend. And don't touch Chad. Damn it!
SleepTight--Wow, so much to say about JD. I think my life on tv.com changed once I discovered his blogs. I love his long lists of top 50 movies or favorite 50 TV shows. He is incredibly funny, crazy, creative and sexy. I haven't made it his Saturday chats for a while, but I need to start going again, cause I miss him!
AuntArlene--I first met Auntie on the Angel forum. I was intimidated by a lot of the users on that forum but we got to know each other and eventually I got to be part of the group. Auntie has given me a lot of fun with her fantastic videos and always finding one more quote on the conversational quotes thread. The Angel forum would be a lot less fun without her!
LMH68--Lin is my favorite sheep and diehard Dr. Who fan. She always has great interesting blogs, likes to hump and is currently hosting the Mastermind game. She never fails to entertain and to check up on what I am up to. Lin's blogs are also a thing of beauty. Our TV taste overlaps a lot so I know pretty much that if Lin likes something, I will, too. Now I just need to get back to watching the new Dr. Who.
Iphigenie72--We first met through joey and JD's Saturday chats and have found we have a lot in common. She has an amazing taste in films and always recommends something interesting that I've never seen before, and she has an incredible way of discussing everything so intellectually that I feel like an idiot.
gmvail23--Greta has a fun blog almost every single day. I feel like I really know her, well at least her rennovations. She's got a great sense of humor and I look forward to chatting with her on her blogs, and the occasional Saturday chats.
tjaman-Even though he made fun of me the first time I posted any of my reviews, eventually we grew to some level of mutual respect...he's a journalist in real life, so he's pretty tough competition. His reviews are some of the most interesting I've read on all of tv.com.
Other great Angel forum regulars: NickSeng, PilotofSerenity,Charisma69
There are some not-so great regulars that I won't mention by name because I'll get in trouble. But they make the forum fun too, in their own way.
Recent new friends from Supernatural: Julsus, Silverbelle21, Kimster82, and MacGyver46, Pixie9696 (keeper of the Supernatural Inn) Run4Nova (hostess of the SSR!), and of course iluvluke, who is an old friend from Bones and will be joining us in Reno!

EDIT: I'm test driving a blog banner. Feedback is appreciated!
I've just gotten someone new to start watching Buffy (engel_j_ackles), so I've been watching along with her and Kimmy. Here are some random-ish thoughts I had on the episodes in Season 1. This is not meant to be a major exploration of the season, but some fun stuff and things I noticed. Otherwise this would be another huge blog. Feel free to discuss anything in the comments!
What are your favorite things about Season 1?
Welcome to the Hellmouth, rating 8.8
I love how Buffy makes an extra effort to be nice to Willow after Cordelia was so nasty to her. I find it odd that Cordelia would be so nice to Buffy right away. Usually the popular kids don't talk to new kids at first. Angel's first appearance and Buffy saying "I *really* didn't like him." It's interesting that Angel is the only vampire that doesn't have vampface all the time. The others never go back to their regular faces even when they are not killing, except for Darla but mostly she's in vampface.Buffy: (holds up outfit to mirror) Hi! I'm an enormous slut! (holds up a conservative dress) Hello! Would you like a copy of 'The Watchtower'? (lowers the dress) I used to be so good at this.
Cordelia: What is your childhood trauma?
The Harvest 8.6
For some reason, this episode didn't seem as good on this watching. Buffy tells Xander and Willow about being the Slayer. We learn more about the Master and his rituals. Willow shows off her hacker skills. Xander shows off getting in the way. More nasty Cordelia. Willow getting back at her by getting her to delete the computer program project.Cordelia: (to Willow) Excuse me? Who gave you permission to exist? Do I horn in on your private discussions? No. Why? Because you're boring.
The Witch 8.9
We see some of the lack of communication between Buffy and Joyce, but at least it's better than Amy's relationship with her mom. Giles does magick for the first time. This episode introduces Amy who we see again here and there, all the way through season 7.Teacher's Pet 8.7
A lot of people don't like this episode, but I think it's fun. Xander reveals he loves Buffy under influence of teacher's martini. That whole scene with him being so nervous at the teacher's house is probably my favorite scene.Cordelia:I don't know what to say, it was really, I mean, one minute you're in your normal life, and then who's in the fridge? It really gets to you, a thing like that. It was... let's just say I haven't been able to eat a thing since yesterday. I think I lost, like, seven and a half ounces? Way swifter than that so-called diet that quack put me on. Oh, I'm not saying that we should kill a teacher every day just so I can lose weight, I'm just saying when tragedy strikes, we have to look on the bright side. You know? Like, how even used Mercedes still have leather seats!

Never Kill a Boy on the First Date 8.7
Nice to see Angel getting jealous over Owen. Source of one of the greatest lines: Hello salty goodness and Cordelia getting interested in Angel. Buffy's first realization that being the Slayer means she doesn't get to be normal girl anymore and have a normal social life.
The Pack 8.8
I like this episode better everytime I watch it. Xander is really great in it. Love the slo-mo scene where the hyena people are prowling around the school grounds. Poor Principal Flutie....I'll miss him.Buffy: I think something's wrong with him.
Willow: Or maybe there's something wrong with me.
Buffy: What are you talking about?
Willow: C'mon. He's not picking on you. He's just sniffing you a lot. I don't know, maybe three isn't company anymore.Buffy: It's bad, isn't it.
Giles: It's devastating. He's turned into a sixteen-year-old boy. Course, you'll have to kill him.
Buffy: Giles, I'm serious.
Giles: So am I. Except for the part about killing him. Testosterone is a great equalizer. It turns all men into morons. He will, however, get over it.
Angel 9.7
First time Angel takes off his shirt! (Roar from the crowd!). Clearly that was the most important thing. We get the first dose of backstory including Angel's pesky curse...really sets things up for the future story arcs and the flashbacks. I am constantly impressed that all the canon that is set up here is used in later episodes of both Buffy and Angel, and not contradicted. Especially regarding Darla and the Master, which we don't hear about again until Angel S2.First time we see how great a character Darla is. She is the first vampire besides the Master that seems to have a background and any level of intelligence.
Buffy throws Angel out the window when she thinks he bit Joyce, rather than staking him. This is when we know she will never kill him no matter what. If she doesn't immediately kill him after thinking he killer her mom, she never will.
Xander I'm not saying anything, I have nothing to say.
Giles: Does this, uh, Angel have, um, a tattoo behind his right shoulder?
Buffy: Yeah, it's a, it's a bird or something.
Xander: Now I'm sayin' something. You saw him naked?Buffy: Oh! Um... No, Mom, this is Mr. Giles.
Joyce: Oh, the librarian from your school! (confused) What's he doing here?
Giles: Uh, I-I just came to pay my respects, wish you a speedy recovery.
Joyce: Boy, the teachers really *do* care in this town.Buffy: Can a vampire ever be a good person? Couldn't it happen?
Giles: A vampire isn't a person at all. It may have the movements, the
memories, even the personality of the person it took over, but it's still a
demon at the core. There is no halfway.
Willow: So that'd be a no, huh?I Robot You Jane 8.2
The opening scene with the monks seems to be a bit too similar to Season 5 opener. Great arguing between Giles and Miss Calendar, then they work together. The conflict between the old ways and modern ways will be revisited in Season 4 with The Initiative. Nice to see a Willow-centric episode. I love the last scene when they are discussing their bad relationships so far, and how true it turns out to be.Buffy: I can just tell something is wrong--my spider sense is tingling.
Giles: Your spider sense?
Buffy: Pop culture reference...sorry.Buffy: Hey, did you forget? The one boy I've had the hots for since I've moved here turned out to be a vampire.
Xander: Right, and the teacher I had a crush on? Giant praying mantis?
Willow: That's true.
Xander: Yeah, that's life on the Hellmouth.
Buffy: Let's face it: none of us are ever gonna have a happy, normal relationship.
Xander: We're doomed!
The Puppet Show 8.0
Maybe my least favorite episode of the season this time around. I could barely concentrate on it. I know it deserved better though. Cordelia's horrible singing! First appearance of Snyder. I have always hated him but he doesn't even start off trying to be nice. Highlight of course is the bit at the end where they do their scene from Oedipus...Great prophetic line from Synder:
Snyder: My predecessor, Mr. Flutie, may have gone in for that touchy- feely relating nonsense, but he was eaten. You're in my world now. And Sunnydale has touched and felt for the last time.
Nightmares 8.7
When i first watched this,i kept thinking the boy Buffy saw was the Annointed One, since they have a very similar look. Finally i realized i was wrong, buti was confused for part of the episode.Buffy's nightmare about her dad telling her how she was such a disappointment to him was really heartbreaking. I loved how all their nightmares blended together and happened at once near the end. Vamp buffy! For the first time, the villian was a regular human, with no special powers. Willow's pea green tights were possibly the scariest things in this ep.Willow: When Buffy was a vampire, you weren't still, like, attracted to her, were you?
Xander: Willow, how can you...? I mean, that's really *bent*. She was... grotesque.
Willow: Still dug her, huh?
Xander: I'm sick. I need help.
Willow: Don't I know it.Out of Mind, Out of Sight 8.5
Bitca Cordelia goodness. Interesting to see her maybe at her most self-absorbed and also possibly at her nicest in all of Buffy. Great episode to compare her later character development in Angel. Giles starting to trust Angel and his information. We find out that Buffy was popular enough to be May Queen at her old school. And of course, the FBI men taking Marcy away to be in an invisible assassin!Buffy: I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "huh?"
Cordelia: This is all about me. Me, me, me!
Xander: Wow, for once she's right.Prophecy Girl 9.7
Too many good things in the episode, and my favorite of the season. Xander listening to country music, the music of pain. The Master telling Buffy he likes her dress. Cordelia driving her car through the school. We see her helping out and it smooths the transition for her to be part of the group in S2. Xander being the one to bring Buffy back, not Angel. When the Master finally dusts, his bones are still there, whereas all the other vamps dusted completely. Well, I guess that is important, but it's not really explained.Buffy: I may be dead, but I'm still pretty. Which is more than I can say for you.
Master: You were destined to die. It was written.
Buffy: What can I say? I flunked the written.Xander: Hey, I hear there's a dance at the Bronze tonight. Could be fun.
Cordelia: Yeah!
Willow: Buffy?
Buffy: Sure. We saved the world, I say we party. I mean, I got all pretty.- Posted Aug 14, 2007 8:37 pm PT

Thanks everyone for your good wishes regarding my arm! I had the steroid injection on Monday and had some pain for about a day or so. She actually injected right into the main muscle that has been causing most of the problems. I have a nice big bruise there now. It seems to be feeling better now, but I won't really know until I go back to work how much it's working. It looks like I will be off work at least until August 19 but I'll know more when I see the doctor again next week.
So, with all the free time, I have been watching a lot of new TV shows (well, at least for me). I am feeling like I miss Buffy and Angel, so I will be starting a rewatch of those as well, especially since I've been able to convice a few of my Supernatural friends to start watching!
Nip/Tuck S2-4
I finished S2, S3 and started watching S4. Looks like we cannot use spoiler tags, so don't look if you don't want to know. There are big spoilers for Nip/Tuck here.
S2 was great. I can't decide if S3 was better or not. I correctly predicted that Christian was never going to really get married, , and I also strongly suspected the Carver had taken Kimber, since she really seemed to want to get married. In the end, I was partially correct about the Carver. I did say it was Quentin, but I honestly had no idea about Kit being involved too. It certainly explains why she didn't give up his secret when they were in bed together at Christian's place earlier in the season.
There are just so many things going on in this series, that makes it so fun to watch. The arc with Matt and his interesting choices of sexual partners, from the transgendered Ava to pre-op Cherrty, to the Aryan Ariel and her psycho dad. Julia finally spilling the beans about Christian being Matt's bio-dad, Chrisitan sleeping with Julia's mom. Sean getting off with the Miss Kimber doll....and the list of course goes on and on....
S4 is starting out very strangely. I think they are going a bit overboard with the special guest stars....
Gilmore Girls S1-7
While I have been home I watched all 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls in about 3 weeks. I did not think it was possible, but I did it. My head is still spinning. I actually liked the show a lot and appreciate the humor. I am quite a bit like Lorelai in the kind of things she says and not always knowing when to just be quiet. Rory definitely got on my nerves about half the time. For a smart girl she did a lot of dumb stuff. I am not sure if I love or hate Michel. He is so damn annoying but he says the most ridculous things. I guess his entertainment value outweighs the annoyance factor. I won't even start on the Luke/Lorelai/Christopher thing. Overall I am glad I watched the show and now I sort of wish it wasn't over. I have to stop watching stuff after it's been cancelled. I did the same thing with Veronica Mars. At some point I might mention some of my favorite episodes. Right now, it's all just a very funny blur.Dark Angel S2
I admit to this guilty pleasure of only watching this for Jensen Ackles who plays Alec. I'd seen parts of S1 on TV but never really followed the show. I have seen about half of S2 and I'd probably say I'm not a big fan, but some of the storylines are good, if a bit farfetched. So far, my favorite episode was "The Berrisford Agenda" which focuses on Alec. No surprises there for anyone right?Smallville S4-5
Yes, it's a testament to how much time I have on my hands when I start watching Smallville. I admit I only watched S4 for Jensen Ackles at the suggestion of Kimmy and Engel, but I was enjoying the storyline with Jason andhis mother looking for the stones, but they really leave too many things unexplained or hard to follow. I'm not complaining about things that are hard to believe, like when they all went to China for a day. I am used to things like that, and they did have a good reason for going. I know Angel forum people warned me about this show, but I let myself get sucked in anyway. How on earth did Jason go from being mad at his mother about setting him up with Lana, hiding the stone from her, to a few episodes later he kills someone? This needs some explanation! I actually started watching S5 just because James Marsters is in it. I know I will have lots of questions about things so I'm not letting myself get too involved in the storyline. I have to admit I find it amazing how often they can come up with excuses for Tom Welling to take his shirt off. A friend suggested it's made of krypto-fibers and he's actually allergic to them so he needs to take them off regularly. And a Treat

The wrist and arm are still causing me lots of pain, and that is why I have not been on tv.com much at all. As soon as I feel any pain I have been stopping computer use, since I am worried that it's just not going to go away completely. The doctor says there may always be some amount of pain and it's just a matter of how much pain I can and want to tolerate. This is rather depressing since outside of work, I use the computer a lot. I have definitely had to change a lot of things recently to deal with this. So, while I am not commenting on blogs much, I am still trying to visit and maybe just say Hi when I can. I never realized how much I rely on being able to type and use the computer for so many things.
I am still off work probably for another week at least. On Monday I am supposed to get a steroid injection but i don't know how long after the doctor will have me on limited work duty. My boss may also decide that he wants me in the office even if I am on limited work. So I won't know more until probably Tuesday of next week. The good news is that the worker's compensation checks are being sent promptly so I have not had to worry about any bills or my rent. Supposedly this is non-taxable income, which is good.
I have definitely had plenty of time to watch TV, but I'll save my comments on that for another time....

When they see him they always take flight
But there's one that he catches
Whose jewelry he snatches
And he flies with his capon all nightWithout fangs you'll hear vampires complain
"Hey this sucks!" but I'd like to explain
If they can't make you bleed
They will never succeed
And their biting will all be in veinDracula must suck blood to live.
Fortunately, virgins have much to give!
He cuts through the tripe,
Asks if they match his type,
And they respond with, "O Positive!"Count Dracula, lanky and slight,
And eschewing a heartier bite,
Was growing bulimic
On victims anemic.
He insisted on making it Blood Lite.- Posted Aug 4, 2007 4:09 pm PT

25Jul 07NOTE: Due to instability problems with my computer and browser, I am posting this in-progress. I will be updating this blog later on today, so please check back later to see what's new.
Hey, look at me, I'm blogging crazy!
It's Hump Day and I want to celebrate. Of course we'll start off with my two favorite Humps and some of my favorite music to hump by Hump de Bump by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The most exciting news of the week is that after the first round, I am tied for first place in Lin's tv.com Mastermind contest! Yay! Round 1 was Movie Trivia. Round 2 is Specialist Round, where each person has their own special subject, all of which I believe ended up being TV shows. My specialist subject is Angel (the Series). The questions were difficult and I had to look up some of the answers! By Friday I will know my fate, to see if I've dropped on the leaderboard or not!
And now for a strange but true update about my work situation
Next time: My Brush with the Criminal Justice System, or How I Nearly Ended up on a Jury....
Caption Contest
I tried to make it hump-related. Of course your captions will be doing all the heavy lifting on that. Feel free to submit more than one caption per photo. I will be awarding Best Captions and Silliest Captions. Be forewarned in the event you might be upset by winning the Suckiest, I mean Silliest category.

Supernatural Fun
I admit I'm a fairly new fan of this show, started watching it nearly at the end of S2 and had to catch up fast. Luckily I was able to watch all of S1 and S2 without getting any spoilers for the S2 season finale, which was quite an amazing episode. Of course, I am now having SN withdrawal, since we've found out the show will not premier S3 until the beginning of October. Talk about evil!
Of course, it's not like it's torture to watch a show with a couple more hot guys running around chasing evil and kicking its a$$. As a plus, several Buffy and Angel cast members have made appearances as guest stars and that was fun. Loved seeing Amber Benson as a vampire! And in one episode a character actually asks "What would Buffy do?" That had me LMAO.
I've made a lot of great new friends from this show, and that's made my time on tv.com even better than just hanging with my Angel and Buffy friends (whom I still love just as much as ever!). Special blame goes to kcohan1, engel_j_ackles, run4nova, MacGyver46 and iluvluke. The SN group is very active and each Wednesday and Sunday we are rewatching an episode, in order, and discussing them, though of course the discussion meanders from the topic rather quickly. There is also a great variety of fun stuff to be found on the web which has kept me ROFLMAO and a surefire cure for me on the days my arm and job stuff have been getting me down. Two of my favorite things to visit are:
Plastic!Winchester Theatre--yes, it may sound silly, but this girl has written about 2 dozen episodes of SN and "filmed" them using a wide variety of Ken dolls and some incredibly creative props. She has great humor and has really gotten the characterizations down very well. I encourage you to take a look. I swear she really ought to get paid or have a career in television as a scriptwriter. Favorite Episode: Episode Two, because of Plastic!Sam's underwear. You really need to see it yourself.
Ten Expressions--This LiveJournal user takes some screencaps from each episode and writes a new story based on them. Laugh-out-loud funny. My favorite is the one from "Tall Tales."
What Else I've Been Watching
Since I've been home so much, I've had time to watch a lot of television. I've worked my way through Season 2 and most of Season 3 of Nip/Tuck. I am in love with this show. Somehow I always manage to be eating when they are doing a totally disgusting surgery. But I'm hooked on the characters and cannot wait to see what is going to happen to them next. They still don't know who the Carver is yet, but I have my suspicions. Don't tell me or I will have to kill you. I love what is going on with Matt and Ava! Yes, I was shocked to hear her secret and I really feel bad for that poor kid! He is majorly messed up, sexually, now.
I've also been watching a lot of Gilmore Girls. Even a little bit of Gilmore Girls is a lot, so I'm surprised that I've been able to watch as much as I have. I finished S2-4 and am about halfway through Season 5. Rory is in her second year at Yale. She certainly makes a lot of bad decisions and I'm finding I don't care as much for her character as I'd like to.
Something Yummy
And no, I did not forget the tux!

I have a delicious recipe for a similar tart and the first time I made it was for a dinner party I had. I spent ages (ok, 10 minutes maybe) arranging the apple slices to look just like this photo. The result: everyone loved the tart but no one believed I had made it myself because it looked "too perfect." I've made it many times since then but I don't do the slices quite so perfectly. Much more rustic, but people still think it tastes like I bought it at a fancy expensive French bakery. Which is fine with me.

Hey, look, it's a blog! I know that may seem a bit unfamiliar here, but let's just see how it turns out.
First off, a work update...
And now, for some good old-fashioned television!Something Old
Buffy the Vampire SlayerSeason 6

While rewatching some episodes of Season 6, I noticed that at one point or another, I really disliked each of the main characters. Maybe this was intentional on the part of the writers, but I thought it was interesting, since I don't usually actively dislike certain characters, where others I find it hard to like at all.
Giles: He's not around the whole season, but it's just enough to make me mad at him. I really did not like how he just gave Buffy some money to solve her financial problems. I thought that this was the easy way out for Buffy and pretty much at that point I was not very sympathetic to her problems anyway. I feel Giles could have been more helpful to her if he had stayed and gave her more guidance on being an adult. His main redeeming qualities this season are a fantastic singing voice and showing up with some awesome mojo to use on DarkWillow and slow her down enough for Xander to talk some sense into her.
Tara: I was disappointed that she left Willow. I agree that Willow was relying on magick way too much, but she needed Tara's support to fight the addiction. It's when Tara left that Willow became reckless with magick, and led her to de-rat Amy. Once Amy was in the picture as Willow's companion instead of Tara, Willow was on a slippery slope. I think if Tara had stayed, Willow might not have gone so far into the Dark Magick, even when Tara was killed. I also think that Dawn needed Tara's guidance since she obviously wasn't getting any from Buffy.
Xander: He didn't do much during most of the season to endear himself to anyone. But of course, leaving Anya at the altar was his low point. Yeah, he brought the musical demon to town, which was also bad, but at least we got songs and dances, even if we didn't get the happy ending. It's rather ironic that he summoned Sweet just so he and Anya would work out, when in fact it was Xander's own fault that they did not.
Anya: Turning back into a vengeance demon really made me mad at her. Normally I wouldn't care one way or another because Anya is one of my least favorite characters. It was only in "Hell's Bells" when she tries so hard to write her vows, and finally as she has finished them, we discover that Xander is gone. That was the first episode that I actually cared about Anya, so her subsequent actions upset me. Then of course, sleeping with Spike was another reason to be mad at her. She might have had her reasons, but it certainly didn't help smooth things over with Xander.
Spike: It was only late in the season that I wanted to hate Spike. Clearly, when he slept with Anya it was because Buffy had rejected him, but that was not the solution, and only served to make things even worse for Anya and Xander. But Spike's lowest point was trying to rape Buffy in "Seeing Red." He thought he could convince her to take him back by violence and I actually think that this was out of character for Spike. Yes, his relationship with Buffy did include some level of violence (see "Smashed") but even he isn't demented enough to think that she would want him back if he forced himself on her.
Buffy: I didn't care much for Buffy at all this season. Of course dying and being resurrected is going to have some effect on you, so maybe I should cut her some slack. Nah. She didn't take much responsibility for financial or family matters and let Giles, Willow and Tara handle most of those for her. She definitley neglected Dawn and let her get into trouble. And I didn't much like how she handled the whole Spike thing. Personally, I have nothing against Buffy and Spike getting together. She did it mainly for some fun, but then she didn't enjoy it. If you are going to fool around with someone, at least admit that to yourself and have some fun. Instead she not only hid the relationship from her friends, but tried to deny it to herself and she hurt everyone in the process. It was particularly unfair to Spike since he was in love with her but she treated him like garbage, or worse. Granted, by the end of the season he deserved it, but not before he slept with Anya ortried to rape Buffy.
Willow: I was pretty upset with Willow for most of the season, which is saying a lot because she had been my favorite character. I never enjoyed the DarkWillow episodes, but I think it's interesting to see her transformation, which really starts well before Tara gets killed. It's only because Willow has been using too much magick and learning about the dark magick that she even has the ability to do what she did to Warren. From using magick on Tara, to putting Dawn in danger to eventually seeking revenge on the Trio for Tara's death, Willow was unlikable most of the season. Her final attempt to destroy the world really made me hate her. That was beyond revenge. I never went back to liking her as much as before, even in season 7 when she was good again.
Something New
Separated at birth?

I just could not help noticing the resemblence between Dean (Jared Padalecki) in Gilmore Girls S2 and Riley (Marc Blucas) in Buffy the Vampire Slayer S4.
I just about finished Season 3 of Gilmore Girls, and will discuss next time. Buffy S6 ended up being so long....

I want to thank everyone for your wonderful comments and PMs regarding my not being on tv.com for the past few days. It's been hard to be away and I've missed you and feel like a lot has happened while I was away. It was mostly involuntary. I could tell you that David Boreanaz called me up with the news he's divorcing his wife and we flew off to spend the weekend in Venice. And he did amazing things to me while we were floating around in a gondola. Yeah, that's what I'll tell you. It was fantastic. I didn't want to come back.
Still there? If you aren't sleeping, work has also been really hectic. Two people are on vacation in my group and my direct boss is helping me with some of their work. Only he is also doing my work that he isn't supposed to be helping me with, so some things are getting done twice and wasting my time and annoying me rather a lot. He thinks he is helping so it's really hard to explain things to him to prevent this. I have been so swamped, for example on Monday I had to get to work early and figured I'd eat breakfast at my desk. I ended up eating my breakfast at 1.30 PM! So I ate my lunch for dinner when I finally got home! Today was nearly as busy, but I made time for lunch and then when my boss was driving me crazy I went outside for a 15-minute walk in the afternoon so I wouldn't end up in jail for assault.
But there is good news at work. Finally, tomorrow, the person will start who will be taking over a big part of my current work. That's the part that is fairly boring and has been the cause of my arm and hand pain. And my VP-level boss has me working on some special projects, which are more interesting. I've had a temp helping me the past couple of weeks on those projects and the VP thinks I'm doing a great job on them, so that's good. We'll see what really interesting projects I can come up with to suggest to him.
One positive externality to the computer issues, was that while I was defragmenting the hard drive and reinstalling stuff, I had time to watch DVDs. I ended up watching half of S2 of Nip/Tuck and 17 episodes of S2 of Gilmore Girls. I didn't think I could really watch more than 3 episodes of GG at once, but I actually watched like 10 in a row on Saturday, and survived and wanted to watch more! I really like the show, and think the mother-daughter relationship is wonderful. I was raised by a single mom, and we really were best friends like Lorelai and Rory, until she remarried when I was 11. That totally changed our family dynamic and it's never been the same since. When I was a kid I never got yelled at, and my mom always asked me for my input on everything and we were more like sisters than mother-daughter. I was actually glad Lorelai didn't marry Max, because I knew exactly how he would change that relationship, even if he did bring other good elements to their lives.
I'll discuss Nip/Tuck another time....if anyone comes back to read my blog again after this.
OK, here's a little reward to tide you over until next time.

It's been a busy week here, between work and some remnants of a real social life, but it's time for another genuine blog! *crowd roars*
I actually would have posted this sooner, except I was looking for a good quotation to use for the title, and ended up reading too much of this fun thread in the Angel forum "Conversational Quotes."
Just a quick work update: the new person has not been hired yet, so it's status quo for the time being. My friend who got promoted has asked me to help her on fixing some big problems in her area and she's going to tell our boss how much help I've been cleaning things up. It's not ideal, but she does really want to help me out, and for now, it's the best we can do, so I'm working along with her on that.
The other night was another Buffy "Once More With Feeling" singalong at my local theatre, and it was the most fun so far. I got a group of people together off from then Internet and we all met and talked about Buffy and Angel for a couple of hours first, then watched the show. They also played "The Wish" and "Superstar." Just about everyone else came alone since they don't have other Buffy friends they can obsess with, so they were all so glad we've found each other and immediately have a lot in common. Most of them had read the S8 comics, and I've only read 1 and 2, so I am planning to read 3 and 4 over the weekend. We'll see if that actually happens. What's the phrase about the road to hell being paved with good intentions? At least I am aware of my shortcomings.
Something Old
For a change, I'll talk about one of my past favorite shows.

Columbo--I really loved this show. I don't remember when I realized how much I enjoyed it, but I do remember when I lived in Japan someone would send us VCR tapes from home. We'd get our friends and parents to just put in tapes when they watched TV at home and send them to us. We didn't care what was on them, just wanted to see anything, even commercials. You have no idea how much popular culture you can miss by not seeing TV commercials for 5 yrs. When I came back to California, I honestly was missing a huge chunk of US history/pop culture and life. Anyway, I digress. Columbo was one of the shows that someone would tape and I kept watching them over and over. When I got back to the US one cable channel used to have this show on everyday and I'd either watch it or tape it, every single day. I just loved the character of Columbo and how he would usually have clever murderers he would have to do a mental battle with. The first few seasons, at least were on the more intelligent side of TV. Later seasons definitely saw a drop in the quality of writing and too many of Columbo's little quirks became too formulaic. But the first few years were great fun to watch, and I own S1-4 on DVD, so I can watch whenever I want!
Some of my favorite episodes are: Prescription: Murder, the full-length movie/pilot. It's fun to watch now because Peter Falk is so young in it! But he already had that raincoat. "Murder By the Book" where an author kills his co-writer using a storyline they never wrote about. "Try and Catch Me" starred Ruth Gordon as the killer, and she was a sweet older woman mystery writer. She had a good reason for the murder, and it's one of the saddest stories, because she didn't have to resort to murder. "Rest in Peace, Mrs. Columbo" where a woman tries to kill Columbo to pay him back for sending her husband to prison, where he later died. It has a nice twist and I loved seeing Columbo being so nice to the killer in order to trap her.
Something Who

I finally started watching Doctor Who (2005) after hearing France and Lin going on (and on and on)about it. I've seen the first two episodes, "Rose" and "The End of the World" and I do like it so far. I wasn't really sure until the end of episode 2 whether I'd want to watch more, but I defiitely will. It's fun and I like both the main characters. The effects and costumes are quite well done, compared to Doctor Who of the old days....I laughed a lot during the second episode, especially at Cassandra shouting"Moisturize me!" which made me think back to Balthazar, the demon in BtVS "Bad Girls" ep 2x14, who kept asking his minions to moisten him. They were both equally disgusting. I like how Rose is so human as to want the Doctor to save Cassandra, even though she plotted to kill all of the guests. And how sad Rose is about the earth exploding. I didn't like her at first, but I think she's going to be a great character and I'm looking forward to how she'll change as she visits more places. The copy of the show I watched was taped from live TV and it was great to see the promo for the third episode where they go back in time. It looks awesome!

Yes, folks, it's Hump Day again, so let's celebrate properly!
First off, my favorite humps:

Now remember, if you are going to do any humping that you want to be careful! Here are some things you need for safe sex:

some more fun with condoms:
Don't forget to watch AuntArlene's sexy Buffyverse video !
Some Buffy/Angel quotes about sex:
(I'm sure I left out a lot of good ones, feel free to mention your favorites, and I'll add them)Mr. Whitmore: S-E-X. Sex. The sex drive in the human animal is intense. How many of us have lost countless productive hours plagued by unwanted sexual thoughts and feelings?
Xander: (raises his hand) Yes! Mm-hm.
Mr. Whitmore: That was a rhetorical question, Mr. Harris, not a poll.
-----
Cordelia: Well, does looking at guns make you wanna have sex?
Xander: I'm seventeen. Looking at linoleum makes me wanna have sex.
-----
Buffy: You had sex with Giles?! YOU HAD SEX WITH Giles?! ...On the hood of a police car?!? ...TWICE!!!!"
-----
Anya: Soon he'll be sweating. I'm imagining having sex with him again.
Buffy: Imaginary Xander is quite the machine.
-----
Giles: I have a friend who's coming to town and I'd like us to be alone.
Anya: Oh, you mean an orgasm friend?
Giles: Yes, that's exactly the most appalling thing you could have said.
-----
Spike: (to Giles) Aww, poor watcher. Did your life flash before your eyes? Cuppa tea... cuppa tea... almost got shagged... cuppa tea??!!
-----
Spike: 'Made with care for Randy.' Randy Giles? Why not just call me 'Horny Giles,' or 'Desperate for a Shag Giles'? I knew there was a reason I hated you!
-----
Anya: I, Anya, promise to cherish you. Eww, no. Not cherish. I promise to have sex with you whenever *I* want, and pledge to be your friend, your wife, your confidant, and your sex poodle.
Tara: Uh, sex poodle?
Anya: Yeah, what?
Tara: Um, I'm not sure you should say "sex poodle" in your vows.
Anya: Huh.
-----
Buffy: Blame? There's blame now?
Willow: No! There's only love... and... some... fear.
Anya: We're just kind of thrown by the you having sex with Spike.
Buffy: The who whating how with huh?
Anya: Okay, that's denial. That usually comes before anger.
Buffy (angrily): I am not having sex with Spike!
Anya: Anger
....
Xander: No one is judging you. It's understandable. Spike is strong and mysterious and sort of compact, but well muscled.
Buffy: I am not having sex with Spike! But I'm starting to think that you might be!
-----
(in the ice cream truck)
Anya: I don't understand. I'm pretty, I'm young. Why didn't you take advantage of me? Is there something wrong with your body?
Xander: There's nothing wrong with my body.
Anya: Well, there must be. I saw that wrinkled man on TV talking about erectile dysfunction...
Xander: Whoa! Hey! All systems go, here. No function problem, okay? You want sex? Let's have sex. Right here. Hot, sweaty, big sex!"(pause, both turn to look at children)
-----
Cordy: I guess we could probably 'com' without actually 'shucking.'
Angel: Well, I don't know. That could be a slippery slope that once you're on, that you could - slide.
Cordy: At least I won't be upsetting the average around here. Nobody in *this* office is ever gonna get any.
-----
Cordy: I need you to help me have sex - with Groo.
Cordy: So I started researching and anyway, I'm right. There is a potion, a protective potion. I take it and bang! I can.
Angel: So you and Groo can...
Cordy: ...com-shuck like bunnies. You betcha.
-----
Angelus: What's a better ride than a Mustang?
Cordelia: Me.
-----So, take two humps and call me in the morning!

OK, I lied. My superpowers are are on the fritz today, so instead of a new blog, I'm sharing with you some of my travel journals and photos from a round-the-world trip I did a few years back. I took a year off between jobs, and traveled around Europe and Asia. From time to time, if people are interested, I'll post more about my trip. Today, I'll start with a bit of my visit to India. I spent four months traveling around India, and Jodhpur was one of my favorite cities in the north. The last photo, of the palace windows, is one of my favorite photographs of the thousands I took on my trip.
Jodhpur, Rajasthan
Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan, after Jaipur (the city with the pink palace), and is located at the edge of the Thar Desert which leads into Pakistan. The town was founded in 1459 and was once known as Marwar, which means "Land of Death," probably in reference to the harsh desert climate.
Not many people seem to visit this town, which is somewhat difficult to get to. I went there by overnight bus from Udaipur (the city with the floating palace in the middle of the lake) though you can also go by train. I had spent Christmas in Udaipur with a bunch of people I'd met a few weeks earlier, in Varanasi, and we'd all pre-arranged to meet up again, which was amazing fun.
On the day that I arrived in Jodhpur, there was a taxi drivers strike and the only way to get around was to go in a horse-drawn cart!
This is the main market in Jodhpur. Notice the detailed carving of the gate in the wall which surrounds the oldest part of the town. Just near this gate is a shop which serves a very special type of lassi, an Indian yogurt drink. I went in with another woman and we sat in the special ladies' section. We even had a woman waiting on us, so we could enjoy our meal peacefully, without the presence of men (translation = without being stared at continuously). The other women in the room were wearing elaborate jewelry, bracelets and wildly-colored saris. They seemed fascinated by our western clothes and the fact that our hair was not covered.
This is the view from the path leading up to the Meherangarh Fort. The name means "Majestic Fort" and I don't think there is any better description of the place. It is absolutely beautiful. It is located at the top of the hill at the center of Jodhpur and is visible from the surrounding area. A twisting path leads up the the main gate, and was used as a form of defense. There are a total of three gates, each built to commemorate a particular victory as well as to reinforce the fort. Originally built in 1806 it has been added to many times since.
This man might look familiar to you! He was on the cover of Lonely Planet's India guidebook several years ago. he sits in here, outside of the topmost gate to the fort, playing music and selling things, as well as asking money to have his photograph taken!
The town is surrounded by a 10-km long wall, which is quite easy to see in this photo. It was taken from the top of the fort, and you can see the blue colored roofs, which indicate the homes of Brahmins, or members of the highest caste.
This is one of the intricately-carved windows of the main palace. The men are palace guards, all of whom wear these distinctively mustard-colored turbans and crisp white uniforms.
Inside the main gate there are a series of courtyards and palaces which are now museums and you can go inside each one. Numerous displays show what the lifest/yle of the maharajas was like including furniture, costumes and a collection of elephant howdahs (saddles)!

After the success of my fakest blog ever, I am a bit reluctant to unveil a brand new, real blog, with real Buffy.
First, a work situation update, if you are interested.
Something Old

Least favorite Buffy episodes
as requested by joey (noahcrash):Season 1: "The Pack" I hated how the popular kids had such a bad influence on Xander, not to mention the hyenas, plus eating the principal was kind of gross. "The Witch" was a close second, saved only by the "twist" that Amy's mom had changed places with her.
S2: "Reptile Boy" Machida, the snake demon, was so cheesy and it took me ages to get the image of Xander in that bra out of my head. Ewww. "Some Assembly Required" takes second place.
S3: "Gingerbread" I really found it hard to believe that moms would want to burn their daughters at the stake. But, it's a typical Buffy-st-yle episode where they take the story line to ridiculous extreme. This time it didn't work for me. "Helpless" takes second place. Damn I hate the Council!
S4: "Living Conditions" snoozefest. Yes, I hated Kathy, but I hated the writers more for making me watch this. "Where the Wild Things Are" takes second, redeemed only by the Orgasm Wall.
S5: "Out of My Mind" I hated both Riley and Spike in this episode. The only redeeming thing was how dumb Harmony is at playing 20 questions. In second place is "The Real Me." One word: Dawn.
S6: I've updated my thoughts on this one. I now think "Normal Again" is the worst episode. Buffy in the mental home was really difficult to sit through, and I didn't really like her much in this episode and it was rather scary to wonder how people are really treated in these places. Second place, "Flooded" I just couldn't really care enough about Buffy's problems. My original worst episode of the season was "Doublemeat Palace" I didn't eat at a fast food place for months after watching this. The demon-lady was ridiculous and possibly the worst special effect since "Reptile Boy." But I decided that it was just cheesy enough for me to like it after all.
S7: Probably "Showtime" or " "Potential." Sorry I can't pick just one, or even two. The Potentials got on my nerves and I hated having them all in Buffy's house making a mess and complaning all the time. If we really had to rely on them to save the world, we'd be screwed.Something New
This is not about TV or movies this time. I finally decided to replace my iPod which got broken in January. The reason this is even remotely note-worthy is because since it got broken I have hardly been working out. What's the connection? Well, last summer I got this great little thing called Nike+ for iPod Nano. It's a little sensor/transmitter that you attach to the iPod and then you put a sensor in your shoe (see image in spoiler tag). It keeps track of distance, time, calories, etc., and then sends the info to nikeplus website where you can get all sorts of statistics on your runs. I am a data-geek, so having this kind of thing really motivates me. So, now that I got the new iPod, I can start walking/running again. I either listen to music or to books-on-tape when I workout, as motivation, so not having the iPod really made it hard to get myself moving. Hopefully, I can get back in shape after sitting on my butt watching too much TV. Now I'll watch just the right amount! If anyone out there has one of these, let me know, maybe we can do a challenge together. I'm PlrtzGlrb on nikeplus forums.

Normally, I am very critical of fanfiction in general, but as a result of a recent conversation on the Angel forum, I had the motivation to look up some information about "slash" fiction, which many of you know is a subset of fanfiction that pairs up same-gender characters in a non-canonical way. I did a little looking around and found this completely hilarious set of stories pairing Angel and Spike. It's been around since Angel was first on the air, but it's still laugh-out-loud funny and very sexy. The first few chapters are really over the top, but it's extremely entertaining. I've only read up to Christmas. I wanted to save some for another day, rather than read it all at once.

Top 20 Reasons Why Buffy Season 4 Doesn't Suck

Sure, there were some things about Season 4 that weren't great: Adam was lame as a Big Bad, Riley was no Angel and Xander was a total loser, but here are 20 reasons to love Season 4:
20. Cheese
19. Xander finally figuring out Willow and Tara are "dating"
18. Giles singing "Behind Blue Eyes"
17. A world without shrimp
16. Anya dressing as a bunny for Halloween
15. Buffy going Martha Stewart on Thanksgiving
14. Buffy hitting Parker over the head with a club
13. Spike's James Bond escape from the Initiative
12. The Orgasm Wall
11. Oz and Willow's tearful goodbyes and unexpected reunion
10. Joyce standing up to Faith
9. Spike getting tied up practically the whole season
8. Faith switching bodies with Buffy, especially the scene with Spike
7. Harmony and Xander's sissy-fight (YouTube clip)
6. Angel kicking Riley's a$$ (YouTube clip)
5. Buffy and Spike getting engaged as a result of one of Willow's spells gone wrong (YouTube clip)
4. Giles being turned into a demon by Ethan Rayne, then chasing Maggie Walsh. (YouTube clip)
3. Spike having trouble "performing" when he attempts to bite Willow. (YouTube clip)
2. "Restless" (Willow's dream)
1. "Hush" (You really should just watch the whole thing yourself)-------------Something New--------------------
The Closer 3x01 "Homewrecker" *SPOILERS*
Last night the first episode of the new season of The Closer aired. I was really looking forward to watching. I've enjoyed this series since Season 1 and thought Season 2 was great. The third season has started out on a slow note for me. Looking back on reviews of other series, I find I rarely like the first episode of a new season, though I'm not sure if it's just me, or if the writers just need to get into the swing of things. "Homewrecker" was no different from my usual pattern. I felt the balance was off between Brenda solving the case and her dealing with the budget issues Pope had forced on her. When she did put some energy into solving the case, it was rather disappointing. The mistaken identity or confusion over identity has been done before (the pilot episode, for example) so I had guessed the "secret" before she revealed it. I also was sorry that most of the Priority Homicide Squad had very little to do with the case. We saw each person only briefly and even Fritz was hardly in the episode. I hope that the rest of the season has more unique cases and doesn't take away from the detecting part too much in favor of other issues Brenda is dealing with. I'll still keep watching, and hoping the season will improve. Rating 7.5/10

A HOT new video from AuntArlene. This is on the very naughty side, so don't watch it where your boss or your mom might happen to be looking over your shoulder.
Bonus points if you can tell me why she gave it that title. I admit it had me stumped for a day until I happened to watch the episode of Buffy where the idea came from.
While I was searching for the clips for the Something Old section, I came across a lot of interesting, mostly non-traditional videos from Buffy and Angel. Again, this is a Bangel-free zone! Hope you enjoy what crazy stuff people have come up with.

I'll just give a quick update on the work situation. Well as I mentioned a lot of people were getting promotions, and just last Friday someone at my job level got promoted. She's been here less than 2 years and is constantly asking me for help, so this was a big disappointment. The president of the company called everyone into our tasting room to have a champagne toast for her and went on about how great it was to promote from within. She's actually a friend of mine, so I don't want to be jealous of her promotion, but I just don't know what my future is going to be here. It's not all negative, since I did have some good news. My boss was really happy with a project I finished up on Friday and he said a lot of nice things to me, including emailing the head of our dept about it, and that guy cc'd our company president thanking me for doing a great job. At least someone is showing some appreciation. He also asked me to help fix another big problem in my friend's department. But I'm still disappointed that it doesn't look like I'll be getting any sort of actual promotion in job title or a raise.

"Pangs" (Buffy the Vampire Slayer 4x8 )

Finally, season 4 gets into the groove. So far I have beenrather disappointed with this season, but now that we have an episode written by Jane Espenson, things are looking up!
Jane really works to get back the chemistry and banter between the Scoobies, that has been sorely lacking so far this season. Obviously we are going to have new characters come into the picture, now that Buffy and Willow are in college, but until now we haven't had much of the old gang's team spirit or snappy dialogue. I love how Buffy gets all Martha Stewart over having a perfect Thanksgiving while everyone around her is trying to deal with the Indian (I mean Native American) spirit guy. Xander gets the funny syphilis, and starts to realize it might not be so bad to have Anya around. Angel sneaks in for a visit and Spike is back in form, verbally, if not physically. After the Initiative put the chip in his head, and he can't feed I almost feel sorry for him. But I also can't stop laughing at the idea of him tied to the chair while the bad guys shoot arrows at him, then at the end, while everyone is eating dinner, they let him sit at the table, still all tied up! He's pretty much tied up in one place or another for most of this season. In addition to the comedy the episode actually brings up some interesting issues of history and how much damage was done to native civilizations. Overall, one of my favorite episodes of the season.Best lines:
WILLOW: Buffy, earlier you agreed with me about Thanksgiving. It's a sham. It's all about death.
BUFFY: It is a sham, but it's a sham with yams. It's a yam sham.(When they are discussing how to deal with Hus)
WILLOW: There are 2 sides to it.
XANDER: Slaying him? The representative from syphilis votes yea.
WILLOW: It's not that simple.SPIKE: I just can't take all this mamby-pamby boo-hooing about the bloody indians.
BUFFY: Uh, the preferred term--
SPIKE: You won. All right? You came in and you killed them and you took their land. That's what conquering nations do. It's what Caesar did, and he's not going around saying, "I came, I conquered, I felt really bad about it." The history of the world isn't people making friends. You had better weapons, and you massacred them. End of story.

Dexter

I just started watching this series, and have seen the first three episodes. I can tell I am going to like it a lot. First off, I think Michael C. Hall is a fantastic actor. I loved him on Six Feet Under and am thrilled he is in a role that is very different from that of David Fisher. The photography in Dexter is wonderful. Miami is so colorful and vibrant, it's hard to make it look bad, but this show captures the flavor of the city with its ethnic diversity and vibrancy. I also like that Julie Benz (Darla in Angel/Buffy) is in this show, and hope that her character breaks out of the very mild-mannered role she has played so far. I found it ironic and completely hilarious that Rita and Dexter have a conversation about blood in the second episode where he is telling her blood is his life and she finds it hard to imagine. Maybe the writers put that in just to make the Angel/Buffy fans laugh. I love Dexter's sister and the great bond they share, I'm glad they seem to have a normal sibling relationship and get along so well. I'm looking forward to more flashbacks of Dexter's foster dad, since it's such a strange situation that a cop would encourage his son to kill the murderers that "got away with it." All in all, an interesting premise for a series and the main roles are all played by great actors. I'm not sure yet about the supporting roles of the cops Dexter works with. So far they seem two-dimensional, but I'm sure they'll develop into more interesting characters over time.

This time it's gonna be me again. I didn't think this week could get much worse after the work and doctor stuff, until I got home on Wednesday to find my old car had gotten towed from in front of my house. I hadn't gotten around to selling it yet when I bought a new one about a year ago. I had paid the fee but not gotten the smog certificate, and apparently, that is a legal cause for towing. One of my lovely neighbors reported it as an abandoned vehicle. Isn't that sweet? So, today I had to go to the DMV to get proof I had paid and a temp permit so I could retrieve my car, then the police dept to pay the fine ($125) then I had to get a ride to the tow lot, thank goodness my buddy from work who is also a Buffy/Angel fan actually offered to take me. He picks me up at home to go to the tow yard ($165), we get there around 5pm, when they finally bring my car out at 5.30 it immediately dies. The guy from the lot tells me the battery is dead. Great. I call AAA (auto road service for non-Americans) and they send out a guy to check the battery. In the meantime we are sitting in 90F+ weather, melting. On this street, in a really bad neighborhood (which means really really bad because this is Oakland CA) guys are striping wheels off a car and all sorts of totally random near-violence is happening. Dave says it's like Thunder Dome only in our town. Yay. Battery guy shows up; yup it's dead. Puts in a new one ($108 ). It takes him an hour because for some stupid reason Saturns have the battery bolted down and he had to remove like eight other things just to get to the battery.
Total cost for today's (mis)adventure: $398 (+ $50 smog check I'll have to do soon).
Value of having a friend who didn't just dump me off there and entertained me talking about Buffy and Angel for 2 hours: Priceless.I didn't even mention that I got no sleep last night worrying about all of this, then went to work 2 hours early so I could leave early to get all this running around done, and in the process pissed off at least one of my bosses, and had to leave my temp working on a project without me. I could be looking for a new job tomorrow.
