When the PlayStation 3 first launched in 2006, it had no such thing as trophies. Eventually, games like Battlefield: Bad Company and Warhawk introduced trophy support, achievements that you could unlock by completing given tasks and reaching certain statistic milestones. These achievements would then appear on players' profiles to boast. These trophies were very similar to the XBOX 360's Achievements, but included a platinum trophy when you unlock all other trophies and there's even a triumphant sound effect when you unlock these trophies. We all know what trophies are and now every retail game released must have them. I love collecting trophies, I currently have a modest 6 platinums and I'm nearing the 1,500 total milestone. I'm not alone, trophies are a huge part of the PlayStation community. While I think it's wrong to avoid games without trophies or buy a game just for the sake of trophies, they add an addicting dimension to gaming. Some developers dusted off old titles and added trophy support. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and most recently Metal Gear Solid 4 were given the trophy treatment along with others, so why stop there? Here are the coming of age PS3 games that I would love to play again to collect trophies:
Before I start, I would just like to say that Call of Duty 4 was one I originally had on the list, but took it off because of the Infinity Ward controversy. I'm sure the game's disgruntled creators wouldn't be happy if Activision made changes to the game that relaunched their success. Same goes for MotorStorm, whose developer has since been shut down. Moving on...
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Bethesda needs to somewhat apologize to PS3 owners for Skyrim being a complete mess. Fixing it would be the only way, but some exclusive trophies for the underrated Oblivion would ease some of the pain. The trophies would be very similar to Skyrim, completing quests and such.
The Orange Box
Portal, Team Fortress, and Half Life 2 are all amazing games that the PS3 is lucky to even have. Valve has a growing fanbase that would re-purchase the collection again just to hunt for trophies. It would be a hit and it seems possible. While their at it, an Orange Box 2 with both Left 4 Deads and Portal 2 would be awesome.
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
This one seems the most likely with Capcom releasing Lost Planet 3 in 2013, which is a prequel to Extreme Condition. This is a cult favorite of mine and a trophy with simply "Kill 1,000 Akrid" would be fun. Just no multiplayer trophies please, the mp has always been a mess.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Marvel hasn't released many decent games since MUA in 2006, one of my favorite games. A huge cast of characters in the Marvel universe with RPG elements and an epic story is as cool as it sounds. Trophies would fit right in as the game constantly rewards you for reaching a certain level or collecting hidden items.
Assassin's Creed
This one missed its mark with the original game included free with copies of Revelations, but it would still be welcome. The AC series has some of the best sets of trophies. Collecting the all the scattered flags would be quite the quest.
Resistance: Fall of Man
This one seems logical, the other three Resistance games have trophy sets, why not the first one?
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
I'm currently playing A Crack in Time and I have to admit that it has some cool trophies. Collecting the series' bolts, gold bolts, weapons, upgrades, and armor is rewarding already, a trophy would be icing on the cake. The R&C series can be very difficult given the right setting, so playing each difficulty would be a challenge. With the HD collection out now and Deadlocked coming soon with trophies, this and Quest for Booty are the only main R&C games without trophies. Make it happen Insomniac.
Mega Man 9
In my opinion, Mega Man 9 is the best 2D side scrolling game. It is also one of the most difficult. That's the beauty of the genre. Trophies would only make it more painful to die right before the finish point.

So there you go, 8 games that I would play again for the beaming success of trophies. Will any of these happen? I doubt it, but one can hope. Thanks for reading and please comment with a game you would like to see be given the trophy treatment
