Mind here or there?
Forsake the flesh
Ignore the desires
Looking at these two phrases once can conclude the meaning of what is trying to be said. However, can only one meaning be seen? The answer is simply no because no matter what I believe the phrases mean others can easily interpet them in a completely different way. The meaning of the two phrases is so vague that either interpretation could be correct.
Forsake the knowledge
Embrace the Agony
Again two phrases with a limitless amount of meanings. This time lets look the at the word choices. Forsake can mean to abandon. So the phrase says to Abandon the knowlege we may embrace agony. Meaning if we refuse to learn we will suffer agony from it. What type of agony cannot be known but when agony is mentioned mostly the physical type is thought of first. The reason the two phrases have a infinte number of meanings is because forsake itself has more than one meaning. I used the first meaning of forsake which means to abandon. Now under the next meaning of forsake which is to give up then the phrase would be Give up the knowlege and embrace the agony. Now it no longer means what my first interpretation said it did. So it is possible to see how many meanings are created because of one word being interpreted differently; this can be said for the rest of the words.
Understanding this can give some insight to exactly how the human mind is not limited to just inside the person's head. If you were to ponder on these phrases for an hour or so you may notice that different regions of the mind unknown to you have opened. Now lets combine both phrases.
Forsake the flesh
Ignore the desires
Forsake the knowledge
Embrace the agony
One interpretation is: Give up the flesh and ignore the desires to abandon the knowledge of embracing agony.
This one interpretation makes sense but is not necessarily correct or incorrect. The phrase is written so vaguely that people will have different meanings for it and none of the meanings could be considered wrong or right.
Back to the interpretation the meaning of the phrases when turned into a sentence still can contain the limitless amounts of meanings because the sentence still holds the core of the phrases and leaves it just as vague.
Breaking it apart: Give up the flesh
What exactly does this mean? Does it mean give up the body, give up the human desires, give up the thought that the mind only exist within the head? All of these can be true and all of them can be right but none are right or wrong.
Looking at the next part. and ignore the desires to . . .
From this piece it would seem that now the flesh tied in with the desire would have a sexual meaning. Again the same goes that it cannot be correct or wrong.
The final part. abandon knowledge and embrace agony.
The reason the last part is longer and seems that it couldve of been separated into two parts has no factor in its meaning. Because by now you should understand that no matter how many pieces we break it apart into or analyze it the meanings will never be right or wrong and since everyone has the ability of formulating an opinion the meanings will always have no end.
This concludes the writing.
