4 years since the last blog post. :O
Here's my Youtube channel featuring a bunch of guitar covers. Gonna do a 90's nostalgic week soon, 'cause I'm a huge sucker for nostalgia.

Level 40 -- 13% (God, I haven't done that in so long.)
So I've been trying to find different ways to utilize FRAPS, and recently I found out about how The Suffering became a free but ad-supported game, so I tried it out and filmed myself playing through the first level.
Of course, the video turned out to me 20 minutes and 10 gigs in size, so what I've planned on doing is making a compilation of highlights from each level into one video. Currently I'm working on finishing one up and it should be up within the hour, but if anyone has any alternate suggestions or other (preferably less time-consuming) methods of doing this that they'd like to see,let me know in the comment box! This current one is shaping up pretty well, but any other ideas are welcome.

I swear I'll stop with all the Guitar Hero posts soon, haha. Anyway:
Soon I'll be posting myself playing the hardest custom Guitar Hero chart I've ever created, nearly 100 bpm faster than Dragonforce (not to mention 100 times as hard)...if I can even pass it, haha. The song is Sharpest by NTW, and I'm almost done the chart, so it should be up by the end of today.

Ok, today, about 2:30 pm, I just FC'd the infamous 'Red Snake of Death' on full speed in practice twice. I'm still pretty shaky right now, and I completely didn't expect to FC it today, so I don't have any proof with me. Next time I'll try and record it. Thought I'd make a note of it. ^_^
Here's the red snake of death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zSmhDa9WRE&feature=related
That isn't me, by the way, lol. But, I'll try and make a vid of it later. Cheers.

↑ That's Toby, our dog.
... I was going upstairs one day and watched him walk over and lick the GH3 guitar. He's cool like that 8) so I decided to try something with him.I got out the camera and, with many treats and finger-fulls of peanut butter, put his paw on every chord in TTFaF. I'm gonna attempt a little stop-motion with him; it's gonna be hilarious. I took all the pictures a little while ago...right now I'm resizing them so they aren't a million billion by a million billion pixels in size
. I'm also gonna see what I can do about putting a video of the chart in the corner somewhere, but I'll worry about that when I need to.Anyway, back to resizing to photos...

Well, the Guitar Hero tournament happened today about 6 hours ago. I gotta say it was so frieken awesome. Here's the story:
We started in one of the history teacher's rooms, where one of the sophomores who created the GH tourney told us where each event would take place (easy in one classroom, medium in another classroom, etc.) Well I went to the room along with my co-op partner, who was also in the expert tournament. EVERYONE recognized me
...it was really creepy. Originally, they were going to do Guitar Hero II, which kind of got on my nerves because GH3 has been out for a couple months now. Since our school has its own little news station, there had to have been at least one camera for every blade of grass in my backyard. They instantly wanted me to play Through the Fire and Flames
. It was really awesome, I must say. Afterward, I must have shaken enough hands to make up for every person at Times Square on new year's eve. 'Maybe his skill will rub off on me...' was the topic of the next few conversations before the tournament started. I really don't mean to boast or anything, but that's how it went.So the way the tournament proceeded went as follows: the tournament creator picked a song at random, then everyone would be paired up with someone randomly. Each pair would then go into Pro Face-off, and the winner stayed in the competition. The first song was Welcome to the Jungle, which I managed a 98% on. After that was Cult of Personality. I only missed 2 notes in the longest solo, which is pretty close to my record at home.
Once the next group of people were eliminated, the next person who was supposed to play me was currently playing his co-op tournament. So I played Raining Blood before he came back. Ironically, Raining Blood was the next song in the bracket (it's also the only song which my co-op partner can't pass). Even more ironically, he and I were up against each other in the bracket. Even MORE ironically, we got to pick the song of our choice because I had already played Raining Blood. We ended up playing Cliffs of Dover, with me moving on to the championship match.
The guy I was up against had beaten Through the Fire and Flames before. We had the song of our choice, so we ended up playing TtFaF. I came out victorious, with a moderate score of ~489k. Here's what I won...it isn't much, but hey, its still pretty nice:

Well that's the story. I'd do it again if i could (and if they let me next time...
). Cheers, everyone. -

Well, guys, my impossible task has been completed. I FINALLY passed Through the Fire and Flames on expert in performance mode...not only that, but I took a video of it, too
. I need to take the video off the camera and transfer it to my computer first, though. Then I'll upload it here (and Youtube, most likely) on GS, because I don't think just telling you I accomplished it is enough
.The video should be uploaded by tonight. If I don't have it by then, there's a 98% chance I'll have it by tomorrow.
I'm still kinda shaking from that experience
... next up... Lou boss battle on performance!!!...
...
...
Jeez people, I'm kidding
... maybe...Ah, what a day. If I remember correctly, I made 419119 points, 89%, and four stars. I kinda feel like that guy that won the million dollars on 1 vs. 100 last night. Just the ecstasy in that room when I hit that final note... ah man, good times.
Speaking of which, I have a story to tell about GH3. Grab your popcorn, this one is mildly lengthy.
The day before Christmas break, I was walking back to my classroom when one of my friends passes me and says 'KYLE! I've been looking for you!' He nearly drags me back down the hall to the economy teacher's room, where they had Guitar Hero 3. Few people recognized me as the GH god from last year's final day of school, where I passed GH2's Shadows Fall's song with a jammed finger. Well after a couple songs, I took the guitar and decided to play TTFaF on hyperspeed 2. I passed it, and everyone is pretty much staring and laughing in pure amazement at what they just witnessed. A little later, I decided to try it on hyperspeed 5. After passing that, it was nearly time to go, so I had to leave quickly for Christmas break
.So anywho, after coming back, I notice a Guitar Hero 3 tournament sign at my school...you can sign up for pro-face off, and you could also sign up for cooperative play with someone else. Well just today, I signed up for the solo tourney (and I plan to enter the co-op with someone else)... ... ... ... ... ...
Now, I walk up to the table where to sign up, and the guys sitting behind it look up at me and go...'KYLE?!' Apparently the entire school populus was inside that classroom that afternoon, cause my name will pop up in any GH conversation you'll hear at this school
. They said that they wanted me to play TTFaF by myself at the end of the competition, so if that idea stays, talk about one really REALLY good day. My best high score so far is 612,009, so I'm pretty stoked about it. The tournament is the 17th, so I can't wait for that
Well that's pretty much it. I'm going to post te video up as soon as possible, which is most likely in 3-4 hours at the earliest. Cheers everyone

7Jan 08So I've been thinking that with the new External HD I have, I can use the space to make movies with FRAPS and post some of my gaming experiences on here so you guys can see some of the crazy encounters I get in some of my games occasionally. Right now I have two videos I plan to post, though I do plan to put more up in the future. So, (once I get them up there
) enjoy! -

Yeah, I really don't know if I'll even get to everything I got for Christmas by the end of new year
. Here's what I got:- An additional 2GB of RAM for my computer
- The Orange Box (PC)
- Crysis (PC)
- Gears of War (PC)
- A 2GB MP3 Player
- Headphones specially designed for my Nintendo DS
- A (much needed
) shaver - A FreeAgent 250GB external hard drive
- Flash Focus (DS)
- 2 Wii Classic Controllers
- Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
- Another DS game (can't remember what it was called, lol)
- 'The Stupidest Things Ever Said or Done' Calendar
- 'Guesstures' handheld game (awesome for parties)
Now multiply this list by THREE to compensate for everything my 2 bros got...I'm a very happy camper, lol. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!

I just hit a major GH milestone today. I beat Before I Forget and Take this Life on expert performance mode, with a 93% and 91%, respectively.
In addition, on the TTFaF performance update, I managed to get through 68% of the song, which is about 6-7 seconds into the solo after the Climactic Build-Up (Herman's Solo if I remember correctly). I think more efficient use of star power would get me a little further but truth be told I don't have the solo down 100%. I did, however, manage ~515,000 points on a normal play-through and I'm still trying to find the best places to use star power, though I'm pretty sure I know where I'll use most of it.
The Quickbasic class is coming along really well, too. I have picked up enough stuff and one other guy and I have started thinking about starting somewhat of a development team. Though DarkBasic would be the approach we would rather take, Dark Basic requires money, which we do not have
. We'll see what happens though. Who knows? It appears that not re-adjusting my clocks for Daylight Savings was a good idea. I have actually occasionally gone to bed and / or woken up an hour early after glancing at the clock a couple times.
Who's ready for CHRISTMAS! Although it's still a little less than a month away, a good portion (translation = ALL) of my presents will most likely be used for gaming or to upgrade my computer (which it desperately needs). If I get enough money, I might even go out and buy another guitar for GH 3.

Last and certainly not least, I am not going to end this post without at least briefly commenting on the firing of Jeff Gerstmann. In all honestly, the only people I can find who actually deserve to lose their job are the one's that agreed on sacking an employee who has been with this organization for nearly 11 years. Not only that, but it was because of a simple review. One small summarization giving a second-rate game a second-rate grade. From what I have been able to decipher amongst the chaos, Kane and Lynch: Dead Men was in fact very poorly designed, and others have even mentioned that a 6.0 was very generous. This only shows that these insecure, greedy, self-important, arrogant, bigheaded, egotistical and otherwise degrading examples of humanity will do anything if they get any form of money in return. What is an even more sickening reality is that the grade Gerstmann assigned Kane & Lynch was accurate...munificent even. Firing someone for correctly accomplishing his/her job is unheard of and completely uncalled for. I say this with 100% honesty: Despite anything Eidos and Cnet may think or say, this will come back to bite them in the ass. In fact, it already has; an incredibly massive amount of subscribers this undeserving company had is gone. The stocks have dropped and your profit has taken a hit because of one idiotic decision. The inhumanely low ranks this community has awarded your dismal atrocity of a game is well deserved. Way to go, you two self-centered, misfortunate disgraces on our society. Hope it was worth it. -

So. Guitar Hero 3. TTFaF and the last 2 tiers account for about 95% of the songs I'll ever play again

I've played it so much, in fact, I've tried TTFaF (Expert) on performance mode numerous times. So far my best is a 37%, and the solo will be a different story (hell, the solo is in a league of its own...). Once I get most of it, though, I might be able to record it if I can find some equipment that'll help me with that.
I've also played it enough that I've discovered a way to play the last section with one finger...yeah, that ORBRORBRORBRORBR(etc.) part and the final couple notes...made a solid 93% with that, though I'll probably never play that way in a real game

WHO'S READY FOR THANKSGIVING BREAK! Monday and 1/2 a Tuesday left of school next week before...FOOD! TURKEY! STUFFING *ahem* and giving...er...thanks...to stuff...yeeah >_> ....
And a month or so after that is CHRISTMAS! For some reason people think it's Christmas already...I've seen red and green houses already even before Halloween. Time for them to start thinking about investing in a calendar (and also a thinking apparatus commonly referred to as a BRAIN.).Programming is coming along pretty nicely in fact. I've managed to conjure a functional (albeit slightly buggy) text-based Rock- Paper-Scissors game complete with a few options added in there. I'm thinking of buying DarkBasic, who were the creators of FPS Creator (which wasn't all that bad in my opinion). DarkBasic is basically used strictly for programming games, which I've come to adore in my spare time, so who knows
.Well, that's all for me before I start falling...asleep...che *zzz*...
EDIT > WOO! 57% on performance, andI failed right before another part I know. There's one area in that 57% that I can still do much better on, but other than that I feel accomplished for the day

Woo !! Guess who just turned 17 on the 25th
Yep and I got a Wii + bunch of Wii stuff, and I learned that I'm also getting GH 3 for Wii (funny story):
Well my mom wanted to show me the pictures she took when we were playing badminton, so I said, 'sure' and she went into the whole Windows Viewer, so it was basically a slide-show; one shot after another.
Well after about 15 pictures or so, she clicked for the next slide and a picture of GH III for the Wii and everything came up on screen!
. She was like, 'Oh crap' and quickly tried to hide it as I laughed my way out of the room.I've also read that some stores have been selling Dementium: The Ward already, as the release date was apparently changed to the 26th, so I'm gonna see if I can't pick that up tomorrow.
Man...in my blog I just read about me turning 14 years old...damn
. Time flies when you're having fun (which means I'll probably be 100 years old approximately by...tomorrow.) Anyway, I'll be away tomorrow rockin' to TTFaF and shooting partially chest-less zombies and ghost-head things I frequently encounter in nightmares
. Cheers. -

Today I took the PSAT's...woke up at an unnecessary 8:00 on a Saturday! AAARRRGH! It went a lot faster than I expected, though, and a lot of other things are going on today. Friends' houses, gameday, etc. are all going to be today too. We're trying to get some friends to bring in a ps2 or Guitar Hero II at the very least. Next time we have a game day, we'll mostly likely have GH3 in our grimy claws by then. My one friend and I made an agreement that I'm going to try and play Through the Fire and Flames's intro and ending on expert without looking the first time I try it. *Practices on keyboard* .... good lord.
So in an hour so I'll be off. Cheers.
*Plays Hangar 18 on expert with monitor off*
..............
*...really.*

Photoshop, I love you.
Blender options are so helpful to create awesome looking text.
Anyhow, school started awhile ago and it's actually nice since over half my classes take place in the same room. I might even try to move my study hall to my fourth period so that I don't have to move anywhere during periods 3-7. Good stuff.
I also got Bioshock on the day it came out
. That occupied nearly 36 out of 48 hours during the end of summer vacation, and what an end it was
.I'm thinking of getting an Xbox 360 Guitar controller so I can play Frets on Fire or Guitar Zero. My one keyboard that came with my computer decided to go on strike...forever...and now I'm using an older keyboard because the newer one I got CAN'T PRESS MORE THAN 2 OR 3 BUTTON AT A TIME! C'mon, Microsoft...you know better than that...I hope
. Thank God for the unnatural surplus of keyboards down in the basement. However, the one I use now for FoF is starting to take the path of mass refusal and work stoppage. Luckily, however, my birthday is coming up in a little more than a month. So there's still hope
.One of my classes teaches QBasic. Like, all of it. I'm thinking of programming a bullet hell or some other curtain-fire type of shooting game as a final project, if there is one. Luckily, I'll have that class for the entire year, so 9 times out of 10 the information will actually stay in my head. Also 9 times out of 10 though, I'll be taking the second level of that class, which teaches HTML and Java...something I'm actually interested in, as opposed to something I'm forced to take, like Civics or English. But hey, you can't win 'em all I guess. I downloaded QBasic today, actually, and once I'm done that course, most of my summer I will be...programming
.I suppose I'll cut it off there. Cheers.

So, I was messing around in FruityLoops one Arpil evening, and I came up with a couple good beats and decided to mess with it a bit. About 2 weeks passed and I came up with 3 full songs...and I'd like to hear your opinion about them! They're all neatly tucked into a .zip file, not all separate downloads.
Tell me what you think! Constructive criticism, please.

Its been quite a bit since I updated. Level 25...feels good. I got RPG Maker XP and FPS Creator, an introduction to emulators, and I'm even helping a friend build his own arcade machine!
ALSO! : With RPG Maker XP, I plan to build a good solid RPG...I have names for all the towns, caves, rivers, you name it.
The only problem is: I have no definite story. My first story a friend and I plotted up was a little too generic...IF anyone is interested in helping me form a realistic non-fairy tale plot with an un-speculatable twist (like Saw....man that was clever
), contact me by PM or AIM or Yahoo and share your ideas! I'd be happy to hear what other people can come up with for a good story with a great twist-ending. If your plot or plot basis is used in my RPG, you'll be added at the end credits once the game is released. So far, a friend and I have come up with 61 potential names for towns, castles, caves, landmarks, rivers, and the like, and I have only about 3 screens of actual game. Its only approximately 1 to 2 minutes of gameplay, and I plan to shoot for at least 9-10 hours. Anyone interested in helping me form ideas, sub-plots, help with RPG Maker XP (cause I know I'll need it
), can IM or PM me. All help is greatly appreciated!

...and why it took so long to post about it:

Yeah...there was aBRAND NEW computer sitting at my desk. You can imagine the first thing I did was go do dxdiag. So this is what it is (or what I can remember off the top of my head):
512MB Radeon X1600
2.66 Ghz DualCore processor
208GB of Hard Drive space. Yes, you read that right. 208GB!! Thats like having 52 Elder Scrolls IV's on the same computer!I've been obviously using it way too extensively, although that's not such a bad thing. It doesn't have the Internet YET, since were still trying to find a good and relatively cheaprouter and phone line. Maybe for Christmas.
