31May 09The New Changing Face of Game Development and Market Trends
by Djburnzy1
"After seven years of stealth development, OnLive has finally been revealed -it is said that it will change the landscape of the games industry, I expect the worst"
Very few commercial ideas have a chance to revolutionize an industry but if entrepreneur Steve Perlman's OnLive lives up to its expectations and promises, the company will disrupt the entire video game industry - to the delight of both game publishers and gamers. Founded by noted technology guru Steve Perlman (WebTV, QuickTime) and incubated within the Rearden media and technology incubator, OnLive spent seven years in stealth development before officially unveiling in March of this year. This could be the future face of the gaming industry.
OnLive is launching the world's highest performance Games On Demand service, instantly delivering the latest high-end titles over home broadband Internet to the TV and entry-level PCs and Macs. The concept is fairly simplistic; the company, OnLive, hosts an endless amount of games off their overly powerful and expensive game servers. These game servers stream over internet connection creating what is known as a "Gaming Cloud".
This means that technically you are never playing the game on console locally, but on their servers instead - all that you are receiving is the video stream of the game itself. OnLive has found a way to super-compress video data and instantaneously transfer this data to your monitor. This results in the video streaming process being so fast that to the human eye it appears as if the game was being played on a console.
In the context of Leisure and Recreation this product appears overwhelming to those of the gaming community as it creates what is believed impossible. Instant high end title games, 'Lag free' environment and even portable gaming. On a more interesting note, OnLive eliminates the current issue of game piracy in today's society. Seeing as the games are run off OnLive's servers and aren't actually being played locally means that consoles can't be modded and re-crafted to run pirated copies of games that have been leaked onto the internet. This gives a sigh of relief to most high end PC gaming companies as their games are simply being downloaded rather than bought. A recent example of this was Stardock's PC game "Demigod" in which over 68% of online players had pirated copies.
As appealing as this new concept may sound, it does have its list of cons that do lead to its unfortunate, inevitable demise. OnLive will not only create an ethical controversy but it will cause chaos in the gaming community not to mention the personal impacts.
This product would create an ethical issue between companies that manufacture upgrades (like graphics cards and processing chips) for PCs and the company of OnLive. OnLive would make it so that these companies are not needed simply because any game can be played on any PC/Mac as long as it has an internet connection regardless of its interior. High selling graphics card suppliers, nVidia, have over one million graphics card shipments to the industry (gaming community) every month. If this product were to be successful in the gaming community, this one million card shipment would slowly disappear.
OnLive would create what is known today as a 'split focus market' in the gaming community. As of today, we have a spit between Sony and Microsoft in which Sony has exclusive games such as MGS4 and Killzone 2 whilst Microsoft has exclusive games such as Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, etc. Even though this may be evident there is still a majority of games being spread over the two consoles. OnLive would then split the market again resulting in Microsoft and Sony having all games on their consoles exclusive to that console. This meaning that all high end titles that would come out on Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, wouldn't come to OnLive. On a more personal level, this means that gamers, who love a particular game, cannot purchase it if they don't have that game's exclusive console. I don't know about you, but I don't have the money to buy another console to play a particular game.
Foundations of Technology for a given product must be understood in order for said product to be successful within society. The interrelationship of technology, industry and society is what will cause this product to fail. I don't think the company of OnLive understands what this product will do if it is released into gaming society. Not only will it put all PC upgrade supplies in debt, but it will cause a very pissed off audience market.
OnLive at first may seem like a wonderful concept, but its effect on the world, ethical, social and personal, will lead to its inevitable failure. ◙ DJ

So it's thursday the 26th today, the day that Australians get to be dropped into the world of halo wars, aswell as bungie's three new mythic maps. I luckily, had preordered halo wars LE two days before hand, so hopped in EB games this afternoon to pick up my purchase. Here are some orgasmic pictures:

The limited edition came with a sustantial amount of stuff, although I won't bore you with it's contents. The mythic map packs, that came with the game in a redeem code, are simply amazing. Bungie has done a very good job at keeping their community happy thus far, and this is simply the icing on the cake. The maps, each with their own unique layout and achievements are simply perfect for the halo fan, such as myself. The skulls, are hidden all over the map, and without cheating (like I know most of you do), I searched. I managed to find, Assembly's, Orbital's and Sandbox's within the space of about three hours. So, yeh, they were fairly hard to find. Unfortunately, I havent had the oppurtunity to play Halo wars yet, seeing as I am 'suppose' to be doing assignments right now. Weekend most probably. Anyway, I'll leave you with this picture which I found quite humurous.Happing Gaming,

Been recording a fair bit with my new capture card this week, thought i'd throw together a short montage of my favourite plays from my experience on XBL on halo 3. Keep in mind, this montage is not to demonstrate my skill, or lack of skill rather, but I merely just wanted to capture the feeling when playing halo 3, there are wins, fails and tea bags, and that is what I have in this video. A bunch of random stuff that's bound to keep you amused til the very end.
Note: The music used in this is fairly full on, ensure your volume isn't full, although there is some dialogue at the start that may be amusing to listen to.
Here it is:
Go through to my videos if you wish to comment it, if you couldn't be bothered, just drop a comment on this blog. Cheers.

Today's rant is not really a rant, more of a talk about this guy who makes probably the best techno songs ive heard in a while. His company is called skymarshall arts, website here, and the music is pretty music a integration of songs from games, along with some sick techno beats with the occasion lyrics. I love it and would suggest people to have a listen at some of his stuff.
I would suggest listening to this song first:
Forever Gamer [feat. Xenomorph]
link for download [here], straight from the website.
I'm sure you will enjoy it, it's feel good music. for some of those old school gamers.

Anyway, I best be off. I got some fragging to do.

Today I was with a friend of mine who depises my taste in music. I got into an arguemet trying to convince him the reasoning behind the construction of some of my favourite bands and that they have a good influence on society, whilst his music does the opposite.
He listens to all the mainstream stuff, ie, anything that comes onto the radio thats popular he likes. Essentially hes a real music conformist. So I showed him just how crazy the music industry has become. Kids listen to this music and see the vocalist as an idol or someone to admire and look up to. Frankly I beleive that these people who are seen as 'idols' should be slapped for what they are teaching the adults of tomorrow.
Let's take for example the song Just Dance by Lady Gaga.
She makes constant reference to getting drunk ('And were getting all hosed tonight') , getting it on with boys ('Shut my playboy mouth'), and teaching women like they are seen rather then heard ('When I come through on the dance floor checkin out that catalogue')
Essentially this song is slowly brainwashing the listeners into thinking that this is 'cool'. That getting drunk is right, and following rules isn't.
If you still don't beleive me let's pick another song, like.. Get Low by Flo Rida feat etc..
Let me just say that I won't go too much into the lyrics of this song, but seriously,
She hit the flo [She hit the flo]
Next thing you know
Shawty got low low low low low low low low??? she hit the flo?
No doubt she got low on the flo if you get what im saying.
So after prooving my mates music was absolutely terrible he attempted to diss my music.
As my music taste is hardcore/metal, he stated, word for word, that:
Him wrote:Your music is S&%t all it is, is random screaming where you cannot make sense of the lyrics and even if you could it would just be about killing yourself and death and that crap. As if that is good for society!
Ok this is pretty much when I went rage. Sure the lyrics may not be decipherable but I hate the fact that everyone who doesn't like screamo/hardcore music assumes that all it is is about death and killing people. There are a large majority of hardcore bands, which just so happen to be MY favourites, that are straightedge.
Straightedge: To be against and to not participate in drinking, drugs or smoking.
They sing about being against drugs, being yourself and having a good time. Sure at times you may find it dipping into that catagory but you cant just assume all of it is bad.
This is why I hate mainstream music. They become millionares off their lyrics that are destroying society and hardcore bands that are just as talented and straightedge, are earning not much at all.
..
He shut up after I had my speal. Thought id post up innmy blog to see if anyone agrees, sorry if its a bit all over the pace, i wrote this in about 10 minutes.
And that's my rant for the week.

Ok so this is my third segment of my 'scoping out mcdonalds' blogs and id though this time id look into how much australia is actually spending on mcdonalds in hourly dosages. I discovered however, that Australian citizens (apparently second fattest country in the world) do not spend alot (figuritively speaking) of money on maccas between rush hour on a random day during the week. I would assume that families would come through purchasing mcdonalds on weekends rather then weekdays however, monday being the only day I work, I decided to go through with this experiment regardless.
MONEY SPENT ON MCDONALDS BY AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS:
As this is an experiment there is bound to be some minor presumptions that are needed to be made in order to have a set boundaries that cannot be crossed (so that results do not become scrambled and random). These are as follows:
- Each line represents a differant cars meals such that a car ordering two meals were merged together to form one figure for that car. Such that X meal 1 was added to X meal 2 to form X meal.
- All meals were added in this data, meaning dessert orders (which are cheap) were not excluded.
- As this was a weeknigh you must presume that a majority of orders are for the person in the car itself, and not orders which are for a large family. Weekend meals are much preferred then weekday meals.
- That even though these were each done on differant nights, they are all at the same time period for the same amount of time on the same day of the week as each other, therefore presumably the most reliable source of data.
Time Period: 7-8pm, Monday Night, 12 January 09
Workstation: Drive Thru, Order Taker
Price Range - Number of people who came through ordered a meal between the following amouts:
Meal was $0-10: IIIII IIIII IIIII IIIII IIII (24)
Meal was $10-20: IIIII IIIII IIII (14)
Meal was $20-30: (0)
Meal was $30+ :I (1)
Total Cars: 39
The Conclusion:
It seems as though Australian citizens, although they are apparently are the second fattest country in the world, they are ordering meals which are mainly below $10 with some being above but below $20.
Hold up, let's recap and compare with previous installments of 'scoping out mcdonalds'.
In PART 1 of my blogs I proved that more healthy people come through mcdonalds then obese, surely this must mean that the obese peoplebe the 24 cars with small orders, should it not? Obese people ordering small meals? Seems logical. Comparing with the obese figures this seems about right, as if we add the getting there probability with obese, it seems about the same. Let's find the probabilities first before we compare any further.
Presuming that the 'getting there' people are heading towards obese.
P (0-10): 61% P (Getting there + Obese): 59%
P (10-20): 35% P (Healthy): 41%
P (20-30): 0%
P (30+): 3% Seeing as this is only 1 car, this figure shall be ignored
=O!! This seems somewhat resurring, does it not? It seems that we can assume that the more obese citizens are ordering less food from mcdonalds then the healthy citizens. But this is merely an assumption. Say these results are in fact in reverse, the Healthy citizens may be eating much less costly foods then the obese. And the obese may in fact be eating alot more food.
Let's compare with PART 2 to find out which it is..
H is healthy meal whilst UH is unhealthy meal:
P (H ordering H): 8.8%
P (H ordering UH): 47.1%
P (UH ordering H): 23.5%
P (UH ordering UH): 20.6%
.
Ok so we can assume that a majority of the 'healthy' people are eating unhealthy foods. Meaning that, seeing as Mcdonald's unhealthier meals cost more, that the Healthy People are the ones buying the $10+ meals. Although you could argue that some of the obese fellas are contributing to the $10+ as 20.6% ordering unhealthy. Although the 47.1% would be much more reliable then the 20.6%.
Furthermore, we can assume that the unhealthy, ie the obese, are buying the healthier foods, which are in fact cheaper at mcdonalds then the unhealthy. Therefore, concluding that the obese are in fact the 0-10$ price range of results.
SO THE FACTS:
61% of families that came through on the night of the 12th ordered a meal below $10.
Whilst 35% ordered between 10 - 20$ in price range. Furthermore, an additional 3% of families ordered a 30+ $ meal. Seeing as this was only one car it would seem insignificant to the other values, but must be noted.
As well as this, approximately 59% of people that came through drive through were somewhat either heading towards obesity or obese themselves. Whilst 41% were healthy.
Essentially, we can state that the obese population of australia, the ones that go to mcdonalds newmarket on a monday afternoon, most are not ordering fatty foods. Sure some may not be able to fight the urge of eating a Big Mac, and some may give in to it. Half of these obese citizens are fighting to regain there health, by eating healthy foods.
Unfortunately we have the healthy citizens who are eating unhealthy foods. There could be the occasionaly healthy healthy order, but most are presumable eating unhealthy foods, according to our results..
I may continue with the next installment talking about beverages, and there influence on today's obesity.
Until next time, Happy Gaming.
Eat well, my fellow gamers.
EDIT: 12:34 13th January
Apparently we are at the moment the fattest country in the world according to figures displayed on news.comheres the link if your interested:

So I am back again, due to me being away at the beach for the last couple of weeks I haven't been able to blog. Nevertheless, heres an update on what I have done in that time.
I've been playing alot of Guitar Hero WT at the moment. I played through solo guitar career on hard, began playing a solo bass career on expert and started a band career with brother on expert. So I'll be racking up a few hundred GS after completion of expert band and bass. I also played a bit of online, mainly focusing on 2v2 Pro Face off and 1v1 Battle matches. Played 2 games on Pro Face off, songs consisted of : Scream Aim Fire by Bullet For My Valentine [won by 150k points] and Misery Business by Paramore [won by 70k points]. It was fortunate for me that my team mate [Mad33n] picked Misery Business, as it is one of my favs at the moment mainly cause I'm a paramore fan.
In addition I played 3 1v1 Battle matches. Can't remember the song titles although I won every game within the first 30 seconds of the song starting =]. I'm needing to find a skilled adversary to play against.
In Call Of Duty WAW I've started a campaign on Veteran, as stated in my last blog, and playing my way through a majority of the levels. I just completed the mission 'Vendetta' by *spoiler* killing General whatshisface which took forever.
Eh, slowly playing my way through the holidays, it makes me shudder saying this but I miss school. Maybe gaming will keep my mind busy until the chaos of senior schooling kicks in.
Happy gaming,

Ok so it's been ages since my last blog. Firstly, Id like to say Merry Christmas to everyone, and secondly id like to list the games I have played during the disappearance between now and my last blog. The games that have made it only my now playing list are as follows: Star Wars Force Unleashed, The Orange Box, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Prince Of Persia, Grand Theft Auto IV, Army Of Two, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Guitar Hero World Tour [Christmas present], Call Of Duty : World At War [Christmas present] and finally Banjo Kazooie (arcade game).
Star Wars Force Unleashed:
I hired this game out for a week and by the end of the week I barely achieved anything. This was due to the fact the disk was scratched which resulted in it freezing at a certain spot (completing act 1). For this reason I googled the achievements and found an exploit for the prologue, which I used to get all the achievements for the saber kills, force kills, etc. Overall, I thought this game would have been a fairly enjoyable game if I had gotten to play more of it. Sucks that it was scratched.
Difficulty Played on: Apprentice [for the achievements]
GS Earned: 250GS
The Orange Box:
I hired this game out at the same time that I hired star wars and for the same period of time. I mainly played on Portal due to the fact that I hated (sorry to the fans) half life 2 and had trouble with team fortress 2. I played through the whole campaign of portal picking up a majority of the achievements. Orange Box I played with one of my friends who had conveniently also hired it out. We managed to get a few of the online multiplayer ones, we could of got more, but the friend had to return his to my misfortune. I played through half life 2 for a bit, got a minority of the achievements but got over it. It felt like a prolonged chase scene from the movies, were your constantly running away from some enemy, it sucked. Oh and I also managed to beat the advanced maps on portal after an aggravating 3 hours for puzzle solving. -_-
Difficulty Played on: None [there was no difficulty]
GS Earned: 240GS
Oblivion:
Ok, well my brother decided to buy this due to the fact that it was cheap as in at EB games one day whilst we were shopping. I obviously didn't chip in due to the fact that I had played the game on PC and it didn't really appeal to me. Nevertheless, I did play it for a bit closing the oblivion gate and earning myself about 100GS. I play on playing it sometime soon when I have the time.
Difficulty Played on: Is there one?
GS Earned: 110GS
Mass Effect:
I borrowed this game from a friend [GT: Cearul] so I could see what it was like before I bought it. I had heard good and bad things about it but in the end I thought the game was good overall. I really like the fact that your customized character is in the cut scenes. It was good to see your [spoiler probably] character arise from the rubble at the end of the game. But anyway, I played through this on the normal difficulty earning myself a majority of the achievements. I played as a sniper pistol expert, but I mainly just used the pistol and biotics. I played through quickly assumed all the achievements were main quest based until I realised that you cannot travel back to planets once you have landed on the final one. This left me with a dilemma, should I start a new game and attempt to complete all side missions. mmm. I was close to earning some of the biotic usage achievements as well, but gave up after I sat there for 2 hrs using biotics and waiting for regen. I also missed the paragon, renegade and charismatic achievements as well, which was a shame.
Difficulty Played on: Normal
GS Earned: 390GS
Prince Of Persia:
This game I hired out the week after I completed mass effect and I was only allowed it out for 1 day. This meant beating it that much harder. So I played through quickly, earning heaps of achievements and beat the game in like 7 hours. Sadly I died heaps throughout it and didn't receive the 'Be Gentle with Her' achievement. And Im still curious as to what the 'Precious Time' achievement is all about. I sat still for about a minute and got nothing. Strange... Anyway, yeh there really was no difficulty in this game, although honestly GS' review was right, this game is easy as. Bosses barely hurt you, and even if they do, you don't die. I didn't mind, it was a breathe of fresh air from those game like Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil May Cry 4.
Difficulty Played on: Default
GS Earned: 630GS
Grand Theft Auto IV:
Yeh, this game I also hired for a week during my day with prince of Persia. I decided hey, these achievements should be fairly simplistic but found out that I was dead wrong. I decided I would only go for the dead easy ones and ended up getting over it (like I do with most of these type of games) after like an hour or two of game play.
Difficulty Played on: Default?
GS Earned: 55GS
Army Of Two:
Oh, Army of Two! I loved this game so much; I don't see why GS gave it such a bad review. I played co-op with my brother, seeing as we are both achievement freaks (me more-so) we got a lot from playing through twice (once on easier, then second on hardest difficulties) along with playing the DLC campaigns, and helping each other get certain ones such as certain kills with certain weapons. All in all. I really enjoyed this game, it was worth the week hire and if I had the money, I would probably have bought it. Although there was some dispute between me and my brother about who was dying more, as on the harder difficulty it required a lot more teamwork than what we normally do on Halo 3.. I found one of the achievements 'Kill a certain boss [don't want to spoil] with a certain gun' fairly annoying as all the dudes around him shoot at you. That was certainly difficult to get. Nevertheless, this game is worth the money
Difficulty played on: Contractor then Professional
GS Earned: 820GS
Marvel Ultimate Alliance:
Ah this game. This game reminded me of the classical "Champions of Norath" on PS2. The all on one screen co-op, with upgradable armour and weaponry seemed similar to 'Champions' and even the level layout resembled some similarity. I most played as Captain America with some occasion switches to Nick Cage. This was due to the fact that I could massively KS [Kill steal] with my shield by throwing it. So I fully upgraded it, and sat on the other side of the level, tossing shield and regen mana. My strategy was flawless, until I versed Mephisto, then I got owned. haha. But I liked this game purely because it had simplistic achievements and it reminded me of champions, which I felt was a good time in its day [when ps2's were cool]
Difficulty played on: Easy [couldn't play on hard, didn't play through a second time]
GS Earned: 575GS
Guitar Hero (World Tour) & Call Of Duty (World at War):
Both of these were Christmas presents from parents, etc. Firstly, seeing as I own Guitar Hero III I started campaign on hard and feeling pretty confident thus far. Just beat whats-his-face in a pro face off, and just unlocked the majority of the gigs achievement, which is reassuring. As far as COD goes, ive played first level on solo and played first level on co-op with brother (which sucked). I HATE the split screen for co-op. WHY not just do the same as halo and make it FULL screen, instead of having a picture in picture. Anyway, I should have Guitar Hero finished on Hard by the end of this week and probably COD by the end of next month. Shame.
Difficulty playing on: Guitar Hero – Hard, Call of Duty – Veteran (yes, you heard me)
GS Earned (so far): 65GS, 55GS respectively.
Banjo Kazooie (arcade):
Ah the classic game banjo kazooie. They remade it on the xbox 360 as an arcade game. No im not talking about nuts and bolts. Im talking about the original, N64 version. I purchased it for 1200 MS points using my prepaid card I got which was originally for mythic map pack (halo 3) but I figured id jus get another one when it comes out. So its been fun playing through those levels I played so long ago, funnily enough I actually remember where everything is in the levels, and how to defeat certain bosses etc. Quite an asset when I comes to achievements. Furthermore, I managed to snag a few on my first play through.
Difficulty played on: None
GS Earned: 35GS & a new gamer picture (sweet)

I finally hit the 10K goal in gamerscore today, i earned it via the first acheivement from oblivion (exit the sewers).
Obviously i now own oblivion as my brother bought it for like $20 AU in at EB games for preowned. Fairly good deal i reckon, although ive only just started, im doing quite well so far.
I am a dark elf, born under customized class and birthsign according to my favoured attributes. Cannot remember the exact name of it though.
I've just entered the oblivion gate and probably during my next oblivion session i will have closed it earning myself another 50G.
Until then, happy gaming.

Sup gamespot,
I'm on holidays at the moment and decided hey! Lets rent some games. So i rented: Star Wars Force Unleashed, Orange Box and Mass effect.
So far ive beeen quite frustrated with the acheivements as they are like 10G each in Orange box and like 20-30 each in SW: FU. However this didnt stop me from playing them although the scratchs on the star wars disc did (probably from those underage self proclaimed 'hardcore' high-pitched gamers on XBL). Furthermore, i managed to beat portal, play a good 4 hours on team fortress 2, half complete half life 2 and play until disc stopped me on SW: FU.
I have also been playing a decent amount of DMC4; I'm getting qutie good. Hit SS combos fairly easily on Son of Sparda, although im stuck on beating danta on son of sparda atm.Probably go through some easier levels to get some proud souls so that i can fully upgrade Nero.
I enjoyed the ending of portal, for those that havent played it, orange box is quite a good deal although the acheivements are extremely hard. All im going to say to those people who have played it is: I love cake.
Anyway, this morning i tuned into the PoP marathon to receive my 15th emblem, hoorah. I also got my name (Jonathan Burns) announced on the gameplay marathon with my question of : Are the acheivements/trophies fairly simplistic in Prince of Persia?
There answer was a blunt yes. Yay, i might purchase it in the near future, possibly with some christmas money.
My goal is to hit at least 15K GS by the end of these holidays, which last about 3 months (my total atm is 9.85K). Let's hope i can find a place that you are allowed to borrow Avatar: BE, Madden, etc.

I wrote a reveiw about Ninja Gaiden 2 this evening after playing it all afternoon. It is somewhat harsh, but tends to follow what GS said in their reveiw, like about the difficulty and camera angles, etc.
I also installed my wireless router this afternoon resulting in my DS being able to play over WiFi! Thus i have made a new banner for my profile as a celebration, and added my various friend codes to it.
Feel free to add if you want, although i must warn you, i dont play PD much. -_-
Although i tend to play MK when im bored! =]

So last week I posted up a blog about my findings of people buying food in the McDonald's drive thru. I came up with results that indicated that there is an equal number of healthy physical customers and obese unhealthy customers that purchase food from the store between the hours of 7PM - 8PM.
FOOD EATEN BY SPECIFIC PHYSICAL STATURES:
Building on this i formed the basis for my next set of information, this was to further look into the epidemic of obesity in Australia society. Firstly the assumptions and rules:
- Each line represents a single order issued clearly to an individual person. Such that if there was a car of two people both order together, one order fatty food another order healthy, i made sure that i asked, without the customer noticing my intentions, who's order was which.
- Singular orders were not included in this data, IE orders that were simply, a big mac, or a drink, were not added into the data.
- Drink orders, similarly, drink orders were not put in, as there is no real way to measure appropriately measure the healthiness (if that's a word) of these drinks.
- Dessert orders were not issued in this data either, as there were constant children orders involving cones and sundaes that seemed somewhat irrelevant to the data itself.
- Family meals were not included in this data, IE, a family orders a massive meal and i didn't want to even try and guess who's means where who's.
Time Period: 7-8PM, Monday Night, 17th November
Workstation: Drive-thru, Order taker & Paycounter.
No. of Healthy people that came through ordering healthy food: 3
No. of Healthy people that came through ordering unhealthy food: 16
No. of Unhealthy people that came through ordering healthy food: 8
No. of Unhealthy people that came through ordering unhealthy food: 7
Total people: 34 - Total healthy: 19 - Total unhealthy: 15
The Conclusion:
Funnily enough this makes some sense of last weeks results. If you look above, this shows that those who are unhealthy are making an attempt to become healthy again whilst those who are healthy are becoming ignorant and eating junk food. Essentially this is displaying a switch, were those who are overweight are making an attempt at fixing the problem whilst those who are healthy are potentially destroying the progress.
This data displays the hipocrisy in today's society. Blaming the overweight people for the problem and not realising that they are trying to fix it. And then turning around and doing exactly what they were accusing the overweight people of doing. And that is eating unhealthy foods. Sure, there may be a vast majority of healthy people travelling to McDonalds from time to time, but basically they are help 'feed' this epidemic (haha, joke, get it?).
And finally, the facts:
Unhealthy: 53% of unhealthy people came through eating healthy food. The decent ones. 47% came through ordering junk food, and making no attempt at stoping the obesity epidemic.
Healthy: A staggering 16% of healthy people only came through ordering healthy food whilst 84% would of rather ordered something unhealthy and fat filled.
Overall: P (H ordering H): 8.8%
P (H ordering UH): 47.1%
P (UH ordering H): 23.5%
P (UH ordering UH): 20.6
Sad isn't it.
Look into more, in the following weeks.
Until then,

At the moment, i am doing a school assignment which involves looking up the history of various band members. After choosing my band as my focus (I Killed The Prom Queen) i came across Crafter's (lead singer if you dont know) wiki page and continued to look at his various acheivements.
I found out that he had participated in 8th season of Big Brother AUS! Funnily enough he only lasted 3 days due to him wanting to piss everyone off so he could go back on tour with IKTPQ. But god oh, where the fights with brigette hilarious.
For those who know of I Killed The Prom Queen.
check this video, im sure youll be amused

So I went to the city today, in order to buy materials for my technology assignment due next week (build a letterbox). And I decided hey, let's drop by comics etc to see if they have death note in manga. As i was looking to buy it over Ebay, i decided that id buy it from comics etc today. Found the whole series all in manga, each for $16 AU. Which was a very excellant pricing.
So yeh bought it, and ive been reading for a bit. It's funny, after watching the series on TV you can see that they essentialy copied every scene from the manga and made it into anime.
Apart from death note i also bought CoD3 at Eb games, for $23 AU preowned. I presumed it was the one with easy acheivements, and boy was i wrong. After the first half an hour i got over the constant dying on veteran and gave up. I enjoy CoD4 much better then CoD3. Easier gameplay i presume.
Meh

I was looking for an answer to yet another one of my mates questions. I presume it was for an assignment of some sort, but nevertheless, I went about my way to find an answer.
My findings were suprisingly intelligent and somewhat correct:
Myspace Findings: Posted a bulletin in an attempt to get an answer.
I received one response. Jacob, was his name. Let's take a look at his response.
I wrote:Subject: A message to all metalheads/hardcore fans
Body: Doing a assignment on you! Hoorah.
I need info, do think that Christianity would approve of the lyrics or in general the genre of hardcore/metal?
Comment on this blog yes or no.
cheers =]Response:
Jacob kid wrote:Regarding the bulletin you just posted...
answering that question is as simple as comparing lyrcis froms bands like Pulling Teeth, Ceremony to Haste The Day, The Veil and Underoath.
Then compare those two (one group being anti-christian and the other being christian) to bands like The Ghost Inside and Break Even who don't really condone the belief or disbelief in any faith or religion.Thoughts After Response:
I regarded this answer as correct. This was what i beleived the answer should be and was suprised at how close to my answer it was. I continued my discovery on the gamespot forums.
Gamespot findings: Posted in the Gamespot AU discussion forum to get an answer.
I wrote:Collecting information for a friend. The findings will be posted in a blog.
Question is: do think that Christianity would approve of the lyrics or in general the genre of hardcore/metal?
ie, do you beleive that this 'angry' music as my mum defines it, would be approved?
If you think yes or no please comment and have a brief justicification please. If you stumble onto this forum thinking to flam or troll, leave.
All replies will be greatly appreiciated, cheers.
I received a variety of answers from countless users, some of which were quite interesting:
ryan_returns29 wrote:It depends, because some metal is pro-Christian (e.g. generally heavy metal) and some is anti-Christian (e.g. black metal), so therefore they would approve of some of it and disapprove of the other. Then came this guy, who essentially, answered the question exactly how i wanted it.
bean-with-bacon wrote:Black metal is usually anti-Christian and/or pro Satan so no I doubt that would be approved.
Death metal can sound angry and "evil" but I don't think I've really come across much death metal that is actually anti-Christian/god however some death metal bands cover somewhat controversial and vulgar topics i.e cannibal corpse, I also think there are some Christian death metal bands like my dying bride
Heavy metal again I don't think I've come across any anti-Christian songs, if anything they're usually pro Christian/god or they might occasionally sing about the negative impact Christianity or other religions has had on the world i.e. crusades, witch burning, discrimination etc.
Progressive metal tends to be pro Christian/god I think when there is a song about it.
Power metal is generally focused on fantasy/ancient worlds with lyrics about strength, valour. Honour etc. so Christianity usually doesn't come into the topics as much.
No doubt i agree with him. Im glad some people took the time to answer the question instead of just skipping it like i know some people do.
to finish it off, raghraghragh concludes, with a somewhat understandable statement. =]
raghraghragh wrote:Unless they're the really hardline sort of Christians, of course they'd approve of Christian metal/hardcore bands like Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red etc.
On the other hand, of course they wouldn't like bands like Deicide, Slayer, Suicide Silence, Cannibal Corpse etc.
Generally speaking, Christian music of any genre pales in comparison to it's secular brother (or sister). God just plays too big of role in the song - the artist is more interested in worshipping God than creating interesting and innovative music. Please, name one important, influential and highly praised Christian (or ANY religious) album. It can't be done.
My five cents, anyway.
Question: Would Christianity would approve of the lyrics or in general the genre of hardcore/metal?
Answer: Depends on what sub-sub genre it is within that of the hardcore metal genre. If they are christian supporting then there lyrics may be approved, but anti-christ bands may have trouble receiving this approval, obvioiusly.
until next time.

Firstly, the demo supports up to 4 people playing co-operatively through the campaign, this came as a big suprise to me as i have not played that many demos which involved co-operative play. Furthermore, this made is so much more enjoyable with a group of my steam buddies running around, yelling in madness, as we somewhat demolish an entire army of corpse eating zombies.
To say at the least, I am very impressed by what the steam team have brought around this time. Although left for dead is a differant game from all other steam games, it still has that feel, that you can just tell that the creators are steam (if that makes sense to anyone, you deserve a medal). It appears that they've also kept the 'tag' wall feature to this steam game, which furthers the idea that this game is similar to all other steam games.
As far as i can tell, the gameplay style is fairly basic. I would imagine on console it would be much easier, although the PC controls were fairly basic, using a similar layout to that of CS.
I really enjoyed this demo, and will be waiting for L4D's release. It shall be an interesting game to play, i wonder what the acheivements will be.
Happy Gaming.
