  Wii Zapper

  Ever since Call of Duty came out for the Wii, I have been ranting about how awesome it would be if they made a gun out of the wii-mote. I mean it seemed easy enough to me. Also, they had gotten the calibration down better than any other system had to this point *Thinks about that damned Sega Dreamcast Zapper*. Lo and behold, this E3 saw that dream realized. But I have a few qualms with the set up:

  1) I was hoping for more of a pistol design, with the the nunchuck being placed much closer to the wiimote. Nobody has used tommy guns since the Capone days.

  2) No electronic trigger? That sounds pretty cheap if you ask me. I'd rather pay ten more bucks for something that could be relied upon instead of a plastic container with a slinky inside.

  3) 3 buttons. I don't think the developers will be pleased they only have 3 buttons to work with now. One of course being the trigger, and the other two on the nunchuck. This seems to make an already "simple" system even simpler. I can't see how they can challenge the hardcore gamer with only three buttons. Granted, back in the NES they could have but not with the games they are putting out now.

  4) The fourth, final, and most frustrating drawback....... the trigger is on the left hand. I don't think this would have been a problem, if I had never shot a BB gun before. But now I have to break an old habit, and I mean oooooold habit, and that won't be too easy. Switching the gun to the other side of my body still gives me another problem. Now it's just on the wrong side plain and simple.

  Though the Wii Zapper is a step in the right direction, Nintendo definitely could have put more thought into the design. Maybe they had the grandmas and toddlers in mind, yet again, when they decided to mess with those of us who have ever wielded some sort of firearm.
