What the title said. You guys might remember me from a while back, and I stopped posting because of the whole Gerstmann fiasco. Anyway I'm back in some form, as in I'll be hovering around the site. The main reason I'm back on however is to promote my still yet to be released machinima, although that's not strictly true, the machinima I'm referring to is completely different from the one I talked about a few months back. It's called Final Act, it's in Halo 3, but this time it's serious drama/action machinima. The reason I've put my comedy machinima on hold is because it's not Red vs. Blue. Well that's not strictly true, I just didn't feel it could stand up in the competitive world of comedy machinima. I've also had some differences between me and other members of the Bouncy Cat Productions' crew so have started my own "Company". I do however feel that my serious/drama writing is a lot better than my comedy, and I do feel Final Act could stand up as one of the best out there.
For now. Here's a little Halo 3 montage I did done make
I'm sure all of you remember the sacking of Mr. Jeff Gerstmann, and if you don't you probably have memory loss and should consult a doctor, or you could just google "Gerstmann". And as I direct result of this I am leaving Gamespot. It's not just Jeff though: Alex Navarro, Ryan David, that freelance guy and aparently Jason Ocampo now; ultimately there is no one left. Leading me to believe that so many people are leaving Gamespot because Jeff sacking was kinda dodgy. I'm not gonna bull**** you here, it's not because I think reviews can no longer be relied upon, it is because Gamespot doesn't have a personality anymore. Do any of you still watch One the Spot now? Listen to the Hotspot? Gamespot Live seems virtually non-existent to me anymore without Jeff, Alex or Ryan. I mean there can simply never be another Button Mashing (after I memorised the rap and everything)! Yeah, you could say that's because of no Rich Gallup, but still. That's why I'm leaving. Over the next few days I'll be quitting every Union I am currently affiliated with; sorry Microsoft Union I've been an officer for a long while, but now I'm quitting, there is nothing left for me here. That's not to say the community here isn't awesome, but so many others have also left... Anyway, I'm sure you guys are glad this isn't a Halo related blog! Another reason I am quitting is that I'm playing the games I was excited for so long about, and with Halo 3 I don't really have any games I'm really excited about (it's really narrowed down to Fable 2, Halo Wars, Ninja Gaiden and Resi 5).
If you would like to keep in contact with me I'm on gametrailers.com, under desertspartan, Bungie.net under dartendaspartan and desertspartan (yes posting about Halo) and am planning to join 1up under dartendaspartan. I still might post my (currently sixteen and a half episode) machinima here, since the community is still good, but I'm not sure. If everything goes as planned the Machinima will launch in May, but that date will probably be pushed back since it keeps getting pushed back as it is. But for now it's bye. I won't be around the site a lot, since I've changed my homepage to Joystiq.
That's all folks. Not just now, but forever - I'll miss you guys, and Pre-Mass Exodus Gamespot.
Bye. I think that about some things up.
Before I go into any details about my games of the year I want to make a biggish announcement - The name of my up and coming Machinima. It is... Just Another Day on the Job. I'm also reveal that I will be buying a URL for the Machinima. I'm not gonna say anymore than that right now, but I'm looking to release a trailer once the website is up an running (in a few months time). ofcourse you guys will be the first to see the trailer, my beta testers as it were.
But now onto more serious matters. I want to make a point: you may not agree with these selections and those who regularly read my blog will already no my number one choice.
10. Crackdown - Yeah It's shallow and yeah it has no story, but it is amazingly fun. Just jumping from building to building for hours, smoking fulls (with bad gunplay) and driving into things (mainly civilians). It's not hugely imaginative or innovative, but on sheer fun, this could be as high as number two.
9. Forza 2 - Despite the fact I didn't actually find it hugely fun, I have a huge amount of respect for the games realism, it's car customization system and it's online. It's never felt so good to race and Enzo round the Nissan Speedway or pimping out a Ford Fiesta, the game has so much depth and is so brilliantly detailed. Oh and by the way, I was joking about the Fiesta!
8. The Darkness - This game really shows how powerful story telling has become in games. Despite the fact I didn't much like the protagonist, you have to feel for Estacado, he's an emo in an Italian American gang, he doesn't want to shoot people he just wants to listen to Cradle of Filth! But in all seriousness despite the excessive auto-aim, the shameful AI and the slow speed you walk at this game had everything; I mean you could eat peoples hearts!
7. Shivering Isles - This game really influenced my mood: If I was in Dementia I was depressed, but in Mania I was happy. Some fans if Oblivion didn't like the insanity, but I loved it; in some ways more than the original. The quest and the people were just a lot more interesting than those in Cyrodil, and although I didn't get as much play time out of the expansion I still loved it!
6. Guitar Hero III - An awesome game with an awesome songlist. I liked almost every song in the game and the gameplay was tuned to a tee. This game really excelled and the new Guitar is so much less... Clicky than the one included with two. Still haven't finished Hard career though...
I'll have Part 2 soon.
