here comes a new blog post! ... hehe

i thought, well, with christmas coming up and my last blog being an easter blog, hmm .... it's about time!

thanx to monster for reminding me .. he

i think, that the reason for me being lazy with blogging might have to do with the fact, that nothing really extraordinary happens in my life. and since i've been following the most helpful advice of jonlaioie: ~ watch me ~ i've been living a healthy and happy life! .... .... it's so stupid you gotta check it out! ....

if you look at the banner, you probably may guess, what my new favourite tv-show right now is. apart from moonlight i'm also enjoying: the big bang theory, pushing daisies, life, chuck, gossip girl, samantha who and private practice, of the newbies. during the summer i watched californication, which is awesome and mad men.

ok, now i'm going to stop right here, or else i don't know what to write in next weeks blog! well well, i'm trying hard to improve. ...

    have a great week everybody!

    dani

season greetings to all of you ....

but not spring greetings, yeah, you hear me it's winter in austria!!!!

we only had 2 winter days this winter. where we had snow in the valleys so we could go tobogganging with our kids. we had 20 degrees the last 3 month. and now, when it finally should become spring, winter is back! this is just crazy you know. and i'm sick of the snow this time of year.

all my sweet spring flowers are covered in snow ....

but to equip you with some more knowledge of austria, than our crazy weather i'd like to introduce you to a little village in the north east of austria. i don't know, if you already know that town but it's called

this is not a joke, this is reality! funny thing about the picture, it says at the bottom: "not so fast please" ..... hihihi

i once heard, that the highest communal expenses are the replacing of the place-name sign. they get stolen every second day. isn't that crazy!? i wonder, why they wouldn't rename the village. i wouldn't wanna live in that town. but they also claim, that the town's name existed since 1070. and this is quite some time .....

but now it's time again for the

My loving thoughts and prayers go out for Drea, her husband and children and all her family and friends.

    The Rose (Bette Middler)

Some say love it is a river
    that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love it is a razor,
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love it is a hunger
    an endless aching need.
I say love it is a flower,
    and you it's only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking,
    that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
    that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
    who cannot seem to give.
And the soul afraid of dying,
    that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long.
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong.
    Just remember in the winter
    far beneath the bitter snow
lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes a rose.

for the 3rd time in a row, a tyrolean won starmania!!!! (the austiran version of pop idol)

that's soooo great!!!! first winner was michael tschuggnal, a friend of mine. second winner was verena pölzl, she took over my place when i quit the job at a band a few years ago.

and now nadine beiler, a 16 year old, absolutely talented girl, who happen to live 10 min. away from me, won the 3rd season!!! absolutely faboulous! i can't believe it!

and do you wanna know, why this is soooo faboulous? because nearly all of the cultural money support goes to our capital vienna. i sang at the tyrolean production of the musical "hair", 4 years ago, and the press, especially the musical time, had the opinion, that our production was better than the performance in vienna. and we didn't get any money from our governement.

and this is sooo good, that nadine won today! because maybe, maybe, they will realize now, that we have great artists in tyrol!!!

    AUSTRIAN MUSIC CORNER

todays feature is on Nadine Beiler!!! Congrats!!!!!

Nadine Beiler - Hurt (Christina Aguilera)

Nadine Beiler - Over the Rainbow (Judy Garland)

Nadine Beiler - Fallin' (Alicia Keys)

Once again my friends: that girl is just 16!!!!

Enjoy the weekend everybody! I'm sure, I will!!!

yeah i'm really excited about this years first snow! have a look outside my window:

normally it starts snowing at the beginning of november. you know our kids grow up with skies on their feet. but this year the weather has been really mad until now. i'm soo happy, looking forward to go skiing this weekend. though i suppose everybody might have the same idea! ...

apropos snow, you know Snow Days, right? if not, check it out! this site's really great, and i got lots of messages from all around the world. enjoy!

    AUSTRIAN MUSIC CORNER

Inspired by IndianaMom's new profile, where she mentioned the tv shows, she grew up with, i'd like to introduce you to EAV - Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung (first general bewilderment)

this band had its great times during the 80ies. their lyrics are very critical and funny. when i watched these clips today, i couldn't stop laughing, so here we go:

    Samurai
this song is about sex tourism in thailand. mr. maier is at home a grey mouse, but when he's on holidays in thailand, he feels like a hero. ....

    Küss die Hand schöne Frau
this one has been my sisters favourite. it's about a guy who is trying to get a girl laid, and when she calls the next morning, he won't remember her, because his wive is standing right behind him .... well, ähm, men ....

    have a nice day!

    yeah,

i admit it people, i totally liked the oc. sun, shiny happy people (not that bad looking by the way), nice and funky story lines, unexpected twists, seth of course and the most important point - real great music.

jem's "maybe i'm amazed", jeff buckleys "halleluja" or nada surfs "if you leave" are forever burned in my head.

but this season, the show is getting worse and worse. the plots are miserable, the characters are implausible and the music is totally gone. where are the life appearances of bands? that was a great plus oft the show in my opinion. it's ok for me that the show will come to an end soon.

at the moment the show with the best music in it is definitely grey's anatomy. last episode had its moments and the songs played just then were amazing. gary jules with "falling awake" or the slip with "life in disguise" were my favourites. this season a lot of great musicians and bands have already contributed their songs, like snow patrol, outkast or beck. but what i like the most is discovering new artists. and there have been maaaannnny! like grant lee philipps, gnarls barkley, mat kearney, mindy smith, kate havnevik, .....

another great moment this fall was, when sting performed "live" at studio 60. .... goosebumps... if you missed it, i'm sure there is a video somewhere out there.

and before i'm closing i thought i introduce you to my new

    AUSTRIAN MUSIC CORNER

this weeks spotlight's on IBK TRIBE

there is a video at google.video:
    Schick sie wieder weg

jamin and sensay are the two members of the band. their music style is crossing hip hop, rap, soul and reggae. the greatest thing about them is, some songs are interpreted in real tyrolean dialect. so it's really hard even for german people to understand.
IBK is short for our provincial capital innsbruck. if you'd like to get to know them better, just visit their website: there are a lot of songs you can listen for free..
    IBK TRIBE

if you're interested in a particular song or you'd like to know the meaning of it, just ask, i'll do my best for understanding among nations ...

enjoy life and nice greetings to everybody!

ps: thanx to home the link thingie finally did work!!!

well i'd love to introduce you to some of our acient advent customs in austria.

first of all, we don't know santa claus. well we do know him, because of all the movies and stuff, but he doesn't bring our presents. in austria it's the christkind. it's little baby-jesus with his angels who decorate the christmas tree on the 24th of december and who put the presents under the tree. and the most famous song we sing to thank the christkindl is: silent night, holy night.

this song by the way was composed by franz xaver gruber and the text written by joseph franz mohr, a young priest. both austrian citizens.

at the 6th of dec we celebrate st. nicholas. he's coming with two angels and a "krampus" . (kind of a devil) nicholas is reading in a big book about every child, and if he/she was a bad kid, or a nice one during the last year. nice ones get a huge bag with sweeties and toys, bad onces get the rod of the krampus. (well no one really gets a rod, seems that we have only nice children here in austria ;-))

to show to st. nicholas, that they are nice and good, children always sing the st. nicholas song: "lasst uns froh und munter sein" ("let's be happy and glad", i don't know the exact english title). but it's the second most popular song during the advent season in austria.

every sunday night we celebrate the advent season. today is, we call it, the first sunday of advent. everybody has an advent wreath with 4 candles. we come together, sit around the wreath, sing songs and read stories. and today we lit the first candle.

and i have a nice custom for all of you, you could do tomorrow. on the 4th of dec is st. barbara's day. you have to cut a branch of a cherry tree and put it in a vase at your window. and if the branch is blossoming until the 24th you will be very lucky next year. of course it works with every branch of every other tree like apple, hazelnut, ...

and for those of you, who can't decide between two loves, put 2 branches for each of your love in the vase. that one which is blossoming first is the right love for you. nice one, isn't it?

so all of you enjoy the advent season!

... and be aware of the mad

well i'm not much of a blogger, exact: this is my first time. so i'm very excited about the fact, that in a few minutes i'm no longer a blogger-virgin....

i always thought, well who on earth wants to read something about me....? but the fact is, so many people do it every day, even i read some bloggs a day, so i figured i'll give it a try. and the nice side effect, when i'm blogging in here is, that i can improve my englisch.

so here we go: the day i met sting ....

this is really a nice story. i live in a very small country. and if you know somebody who knows somebody, and you're a nice gal, you easily get the possibility, to meet stars. as i'm a singer myself, of course i'm more interested in musicians.

well a friend of mine gave me the possibility to meet sting, together with 10 people who won a meet and greet. so i went there, it was a big hall with some tables and some chairs. i immediatly started to prepare everything: i took a table and a chair, put 10 sting cd's on the table with a list of names of some of my friends and relatives on it, so that sting could sign them. the bodyguard looked really angry at me. and all the other people and the press were laughing. they said, that sting will never sign them for me.

as he entered the room, everybody got stunned..... except me....

i greeted him and asked him to sign my cd's. and he did it. every one of it. one he had to sign for my mum and dad, so i wrote for him on the piece of paper: "to my mum and dad"..... and he asked me: "since when do you know my mum and dad!?" .... nice, isn't it!?

well and all the other people were standing around, and they got nothing. too bad ....

and the pic with sting and me, was at the next day's paper all over the country. i think you can imagine my excitment.
