Halo 3 Matchmaking
In my opinion, the playlists in Halo 3 are an improvement over Halo 2, but I think they need work. Took about 15 minutes to think up (bored on vacation from school), and here's my idea on how they should set them up.
Ranked:
-Lone Wolves
*6 players in game, 1 max in party
-Team Doubles
*4 players in game, 2 on each team, 2 max in party
-Team Mercenaries
*6 players in game, 3 on each team, 1 max in party
-Team Slayer
*6-8 players in game, 3-4 on each team, 4 max in party
-Team Objective
*6-8 players in game, 3-4 on each team, 4 max in party
-Team Snipers
*6-8 players in game, 3-4 on each team, 4 max in party
-Team Hardcore
*6-8 players in game, 3-4 on each team, 4 max in party
-Team MLG
*6-8 players in game, 3-4 on each team, 4 max in party
-Ranked BTB
*12-16 players in game, 6-8 on each team, 8 max in party
A couple of changes here, I'll go through them on by one. Lone Wolves and Team Doubles don't change much. Focusing on Slayer, with some variations (like BRs). And a small amount of objective types that fit the playlist. Then a new playlist, called Team Mercenaries. This is like the COD4 playlist called Mercenary Team Deathmatch, which is only for players by themselves, no parties allowed. It's slightly smaller then Slayer/Objective, being that it's 3v3. It's also about 75% Slayer, 25% Objective. Slayer and Objective stay pretty much as is. Though Team Control kinda failed, so it should be absorbed back into Objective, with Objective having small amounts of it. I'd also like to see the return of Team Snipers, since many want it back, and it gets Snipers out of Slayer. Primary sniper, secondary beam rifle, no pistols. Hardcore needs a return to Halo 2 Hardcore. Staring BR (only), no power ups/equipment, no radar, no vehicles, longer respawn on and lesser amount of select weapons (like Maulers). Focusing on Slayer, with small amounts of skill based objective games. Also you have the announced MLG playlist, which will be completely run by them. Also, a tune up to Ranked BTB, putting some betters maps and gametypes.
Unranked:
-Rumble Pit
*5-6 players in game, 6 max in party
-Social Doubles
*4 players in game, 2 on each team, 4 max in party
-Team SWAT
*8 players in game, 4 on each team, 8 max in party
-Social Slayer
*8-10 players in game, 4-5 on each team, 10 max in party
-Social Skirmish
*8-10 players in game, 4-5 on each team, 10 max in party
-Team ActionSack
*8-10 players in game, 4-5 on each team, 10 max in party
-Big Team Social
*12-16 players in game, 6-8 on each team, 16 max in party
Couple changes to the unranked set as well. Rumble Pit should be half normal Slayer, and half quirky fun, less skilled based Slayer games. With some objective games as well. Doubles need to return, since they did have a lot of population on it, much more then Tactical, Control, Rocket Race, and others. Same as Rumble Pit: half normal Slayer, half crazy Slayer games and objective games. Team SWAT needs a permanent social playlist return, since it mad it's way into the Double XP playlist. Let's hope it's 4v4 only, with New SWAT (what was in the Double XP playlist), Classic SWAT (Halo 2 version), and smaller amounts of SWAT Magnums, SWAT Carbines, and SWAT CTF. Social Slayer and Social Skirmish are the same as Rumble PIt/Social Doubles, but to a lesser extent. Like 60% normal slayer, 40% quirky fun gametypes. I really want the return of ActionSack, which for those who don't know, was a Halo 2 playlist that consisted of community made gametypes. Now you can do it with community made maps. It would be great to stimulate the community and put all those Community Files to good use. Finally, you have Big Team Sociale, which, like it's ranked counterpart, needs a bit of an overall tune up.
Downloadable Content:
-DLC Slayer
*8-10 players in game, 4-5 on each team, 10 max in party
-DLC Objective
*10-12 players in game, 5-6 on each team, 12 max in party
Just needs a minor change for the new maps. Expanding DLC slayer from 4 per team, to 4-5 per team. And expanding DLC Objective from 5 per team, to 5-6 per team. This will help expand things for the new map pack. With Ghost Town being mid sized for slayer and one sided objective, Avalanche being large sized for Big Team Slayer and one and two sided objective, and the unannounced map being a small slayer map. This should help fit the ballot and split things up well. Both playlists will focus on standard slayer and objective gamtypes, with some simple variations like BRs, but sticking pretty close to the norm.
