If you build it, they will come.

I am so sick, sick and tired of hearing people say, "Give Sony time. Xbox has been out a year".

Excuse me, Sony had 1 year to prepare and come out swinging. Instead they came out with a loud mouth and literally nothing to show for it. I have the ps3 with 2 games, 1 good and 1 that is the biggest gaming disappointment I have ever had in motorstorm (not to mention my system has been discontinued).

But if you wait it will come. What is this, field of dreams?

Please stop with the "give them time crap".These aremajor corporations and not some high school kid trying to catch a break.

If you are a real gamer, and fair minded, and enjoy playing games then you would know that the 360 has had games for well over 1 year. They got better and better and better. Please don't sit here and say the 360 doesn't have games if you have not played a good portion of them, or you do not own a 360 and have never used it.

Sony looks to have a good line-up for 07 (mostly multiplat); however, so does MS at a cheaper price point. Sony has done some of the strangest things this time around by now discontinuing 2 consoles in less than 8 months. Do consumers even bother to buy the 80 gig in August? Since Sony will drop the price at some point why even bother buying the system in the 1st place?

Lastly, I am also so sick of some people saying the 360 cost nearly the same as the ps3. No it doesn't. The closest is the elite now. However, the HD DVD add on is not wanted by consumers who have chosen to use their gaming console to play games. WOW, what a concept! The add-on has sold just about 200,000 units and the 360 has sold 11.6M systems.

That says that consumers do not care for HD movies and thus they find no need to have it included in their gaming console.

Remember facts speak more than anything and the fact remains, the ps3 is in last for a reason, poor management, poor marketing, and an attitude that you will buy the ps3 even if there is literally nothing to play on it but bluray movies since gaming has been forgotten by Sony thus far.

Don't talk about it Sony, be about it!

But that's not all!

Community to Microsoft; fix that box and stop hiding and pretending that everything is copastatic.

It isn't, not even close. I (and I hate to say this) am now on my third 360. My very first one was a launch system that died due to hardware failure in Jan. of this year. No big deal I thought as I had purchased the PRP from best buy and simply returned it and they gave me a new one. Well 3 weeks later the new one gave me a disc read error on every single disc. So I had to return the system to MS who repaired it and sent it back to me. Well the elite came out in April and I decided to replace mine for the Elite for the use of the bigger hard drive and the HDMI output. So far so good, however, with all the news of 3 year warranties and MS finding issues with their design, I am now worried the system will die on me while playing 1 of 13 games I plan to purchase on the system over the holiday timeframe. I would hate to be jamming while playing Rock Band online and find that I have incurred complete hardware failure and will then be out of my system for one week.

Final verdict; MS recall the 360 and repair them to be up to code with the so called redesign happening this fall. I enjoy gaming and I do not enjoy sitting on edge while playing because I fear that at any moment the system will crash.

Nintendo, I won't even waste my time with a response.

This generation of gaming is like riding a psychotic horse into a burning building.

Edit: 10/25/07

Looks like since this blig the 360 has came back strong with the games we enjoy, fix the issues with overheating (at least covered everyone for 3 years) and has taken back the lead.

Sony (with 5 different skus that is more confusing to consumers) has completely messed everything up. over 5 million sold worldwide with less than 2 million in the u.s is a joke. Better luck next year but remember sony, we are gamers, not bluray movie fans and thus bring the games already!

Attention K-Mart Shoppers, 10 min sale in electronics.

Sony can't catch a break, or they can't keep their mouth closed. Which one would you pick? Word comes that the price cut isn't really a cut as they are getting rid of the 60 gig in America and replacing it with the 80 gig at $599 (btw the game might or might not continue to be included. My bet is that after the holidays the game will stop being included).

Talk about rip off.

Well they are simply getting rid of the 60 (which is costing them more money with that emotion chip inside) and once gone they will be back at $599.

This was a Clever marketing but truly underhanded cheap ploy by Sony. I was about to be 5% points pro Sony over MS. Well that is now gone.

For consumers you better hope they have at least 1 million sitting around North America so that they will get some form of savings.

Good job for yet another cheap move!

Sony should have never said anything about their plans as it now makes them appear like cheap used car salesperson. The only reason why the EU guy probably said anything was because Sony made everyone think the EU boss had full control of the price and he was like you are not going to throw me under the bus, which they did anyway.

Good will be gone in about 1 month.

Some initial thoughts of Sony's press conference.

I have been gone for a minute but I have returned with E3.

Right Now I am going to deal with sony 1st (you will understand later in other blogs).

What to expect for Sony, the creater of the most expensive gaming console currently in the market? I wasn't too sure, but it all started last week with an initial $100 price cut and the addition of the 80 Gig unit available in August. The price cut isn't deep enough as I was expecting $150 at the very least. It will have an impact but it will not be a major mad rush to go out and get one from the mass market consumer. I expect the monthly North American sales to go from 80,000 per month to 105,000 for august and 120,000 for sept. I expect the biggest increase will happen in the month of Oct. when GTA is released and I expect Sony to sale 210,000 units for the month due to that game being released and many other great options available for the early Xmas shoppers. Sony MUST sale 500,000 in nov and 1,000,000 in Dec. or they will be facing some major issues moving into 08 without hitting those numbers over the holidays.

Now onto to today's press conference.

Infamous: 2008 looks good as well and looks to be a way to counter GTA's extran content on the 360 and just might be a great option that could work.

Killzone trailer looked awesome.

I would say that Sony did the best job at E3. I was impressed and trust that is very difficult for meto be impressed from anything Sony does as I have been so disappointed lately. However, Not any more as I am now equally excited (maybe 5 % points higher for the ps3).

The games that I want now include( for the PS3. I will give my best games pick in a later post for all 3 systems)

MGS (thank goodness it won't be out till next year. I will already be out over $1000 so good for me but not for the people who want this game now. I am downloading it right now on my ps3 via my PSP (love that feature) and from what I saw I turned into a little kid with excitement.

Heavenly Sword (I already was sold on this last year but it helped keep me wanting till sept.)

Lair (again already sold last year and will have it here within 4 weeks).

Drakes looks really good, but I am not 100% sold on it yet! I could end up renting it first.

Slimmer PSP with video out looks good, however, I'll keep my pre-existing psp but I will be getting that next star wars game as that looked good.

UT3 has tempted me to think of actually buying my 1st multi-plat game on the ps3. I am highly tempted. This will be placed on my Xmas list without which system to get it for with the hopes that someone says "oh here it is for the ps3" and I'm all good.

Haze looks good but seeing as I will have no time to play it this year I will wait till next year and get it on the 360.

Home looked pretty much what I expected which isn't a bad thing as it met expectations thus far.

As I have said Sony did the best job of all 3 followed by MS (which was boring as heck but they did have the games which saved what was a sleep fest) and Nintendo is last because I did not like hardly anything they presented except for the gun and the workout game as fitness is very important to me. Otherwise their conference was awful!

Now, bring on Q4 and let gaming begin!

Top games for 2007 and where Sony will end up in 2008.

It's been a while since my last post; however I have been busy with work and school, as well as finally getting deep into gaming. I must say I have played some really good games that some of you might like, and some that maybe you would think suck. So lets get into what games I have been playing and I will be going into the future games of 07 that will be huge hits.

I finally beat Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the 360 with my younger brothers and I must say it was a lot of fun. I hated the camera however, my love of super heroes let me to be way to forgiving. I am really looking forward to more games like this as I know that Sony and Ms will both be publishing hero type games in late 2008. I truly say if you have someone to team up with then this game is a must buy.

I was given 2 games from my friend, fear and Splinter cell DA for the 360. I have not had time to get deep into the game play as I have been preoccupied with beating GRAW 2. If you are looking at getting Graw 2, I would say rent it from game fly because I was not as impressed as I was with the first one.

Now the great games in order of importance....

Lost Planet. This was truly a fun, great looking game that Capcom has once again out done themselves. The story may not have been A+; however this was still a great experience that I highly recommend.

Crackdown. Ok I admit it; I only got it to get into the beta. Guilty as charged, however, what I found was a really good game that was just recently made great with 1 free download from Ms that truly adds so much more to the game. Must buy guys and I believe that you will enjoy it as much as I have.

Motorstorm. I am sooo desperate to not say anything negative about a game that I was dying to get day one. All I am going to say that this game was a big let down. This will teach me not to hype any game as I might not like the outcome if the game isn't everything I wanted it to be. I am not sure why Sony didn't have much more input into this game because if they had they would have made evolution go back to the drawing board. I enjoyed Resistance but since dec there hasn't been anything worth buying or renting for the ps3. I will go into more detail about Sony and the games that are need that MUST be great this year if they do not want to have an even worst PR crisis than what they already have.

MLB07, 360. Finally a great next gen baseball game. This has been the first sports games where I did not feel the need to sim games throughout the season. Sure there are a few issues here and there, but this game is finally moving in the right direction.

Finally, the best game so far this year... Guitar Hero II for the 360. I have not had this much fun screwing up and trying to get better like never before. I will tell everyone, buy this game. I am hoping that they fix the pricing structure to these downloads over the summer, but other than that everything else was just fine.

So enough of the old and lets get down to the games that will make the remainder of this year sizzle.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Wii (Nov 2007) I am a HUGE RE fan and this game is at the top of my list. And frankly it is the only game I am 100% sure I will buy for the wii this year. I am sure Capcom will make this one of the best spin offs in quite a while, and possibly a good hold over until the big dog hits next year.

Bioshock: 360 (Aug 21) This will be an AAA titles and a Must buy that will be yet another showcase for the 360. All of the clips and interviews look like this will be the game that will kick start this falls mega game releases.

Mass Effect: 360 (Sept/Nov?) Yet another AAA title that will be a great epic sci-fi action RPG. The only thing I am not sure about is when the game will be released. I have a hard time believe that the game will come out in Sept when the biggest game of the year comes out the same month so I am leaning toward Nov, which will be great for this title to take advantage of black Friday as well as the remainder of the Christmas season.

Halo 3: (Sept 25th) I will be finishing the fight alone with a few million others as this game will be the biggest game of the year (possibly might have to share with....

Grand Theft Auto IV: 360/PS3 (Oct 16th) Another AAA title that will be out for both the ps3 as well as the 360. This game will be huge for both and will move systems for both over the remainder of the holidays.

Heavenly Sword: Ps3 (winter) Everything is looking like this will be the ps3's 2nd AAA titles and finally looks like a game that will be a complete showcase. If this game is marketed correctly, this will help Sony move systems alone with...

Lair: Ps3 (winter) This game also looks like another AAA title and possible will appeal to a wider audience that any other game that will be available to the ps3 outside of Grand Theft Auto (MGS will not be released this year. I am sure we will not see it released until Q1 of 200.

These are the top of the line list of AAA titles that will be released this year. There are a few other good titles that will be available that I did not list and I am not sure if I will buy or not. More than likely my gamefly account will be working overtime this fall and winter for these titles that are questionable.

The end of this year will come down to Nintendo and MS as they fight to the death for the #1 spot. Nintendo will use it's cheap price point to get millions of consumers to get their console. They do have a couple other titles that will sell, but the price will be the major factor pushing the Wii's sells toward the end of the year. As for MS, they will have the games that will blow everyone out of the water. It isn't the cheapest console on the market, but the games will push a few million consoles as well.

Sony is another story altogether. I am not sure how they will fair towards the end of the year. Honestly I just don't know. That price point is a major factor that might just be too much for the average consumer to get over when they want to buy multiple gifts instead of just 1 gift for their family and friends. They have some AAA titles and if MGS would come out this year, then possibly they could sell at least 2 million over the holidays. However, MGS more than likely will not be released this year and it could be an uphill battle for Sony. All things considered, for us gamers we are looking at a great 2007.

Politics and the 2008 Elections.

One thing about politics that has always amazed me is how mostly civilized human beings tend to loose common sense and tend to focus on non important issues when they try to judge someone to lead this country. i.e. Gay marriage, Abortion, Affirmative Action etc. We have so many more important issues that affect nearly everyone; health care, esp. for All of our children, Education and it's continual decline in this country, Criminal Justice or lack thereof, protecting our citizens from extremists etc. I just cant' fathom how anyone can look at non issues and how them trump; no pun intended, everything else. Our educational system is in great decline and I fear for the future of the next generation. Do we as Americans hold our government accountable for real issues? No, we instead would rather spend millions on debating gay marriage and a constitutional ban. We would much rather talk about who slept with who and why and we completely ignore what's going on around us. IU hope that one day we will be free of non issues so that we as Americans can actually begin to bring about change that will be for the betterment of all of us.

Now for the 08 contenders....

Hillary: Some say not electable. The reality here is she could win by a landslide if all women stood up and banded together as one, however, that will never happen anytime soon. Issues I have with her go deep. For some reason I simply don't trust her but I am so needing for change that if she decided to focus on the issues I might let some things slide in hopes she wouldn't let me down.
Obama: we come back to experience but I feel if he can build up a great team that will lead this country, then quite possible he could go all the way. He's smart but I still have much to learn about where he stands on the real issues.

Gop:
Guliani: You could go and say experience for him as well. Mayor of new York and what else? People seem to think he did some much during 911 but if people actually dug into what his role before and after, well things could be very different for him. I would vote for him if he also was dean on with the issues and if I believe he would be able to build a team that can bring about the necessary changes we need going forward.

McCain: One word-Fake. I use to truly respect this man before he sold his soul with the hopes he would become president. I don't trust him and I will never believe a word that comes out of that mouth of his.

Romney- See McCain

We have a ways to go and I hope we will finally see some real discussions about real issues. However, sadly, I don't think we will and will be fed more anti this and anti that and he said she said. And vote for me because I'm just a regular Joe like you.

The top 5 Games of 2006 and what 2007 holds for us.

Over the past year I have spent hours upon hours playing multiple games from the Xbox 360 and recently the PS3. Now for me the only thing that matters about the consoles is the games that developers are currently creating for each. Fighting over which is better and whose sales were better and who will lead the market in the future are simply mute issues because if the games are the only reasons why people buy consoles. So let’s break it down as I will try to judge what I think were the best games of 06 and what the future holds for 07.

2006 was a great year overall for gamers as we began to see what next gen was all about. Here are the best games of 2006...

GRAW which is on my list as 1 of the top games of 06. With really good graphics, and a decent story Ghost showed everyone where the future was going. This game brought something I had been trying forward to, a movie like experience where I have control.

Prey: Boy did I truly enjoy this game. For whatever reason it didn't get reviewed the way it should have because it truly deserves a 9. I'll tell you why I have this listed as 1 of the best of 06, this game felt like Watching the movie Aliens but with me in control. It was fun to play and not horribly difficult. My major grip at some developers is that they have completely forgotten the casual gamer with some of their past releases. Some of the games of old were way to difficult for me and in turn was a major turn off. Prey tried to get people who normally wouldn't play these types games a chance at actually enjoying and FINISHING it. We all like challenges but frankly I do not want to play a game where I die every other second. That simply isn't fun and hopefully developers are starting to realize this.

Rainbow Six: Vegas: I love this game because yet again it let you feel like you are in a major motion picture which you are controlling. My only issue with this game is the difficulty as I feel this will be a turn off to the casual gamer who is looking for something new. This game looks great and the action is as close to real as one can get.

Resistance Fall of Man: Let me tell you I wasn't planning on getting this game because it reminded me of COD 2 with Aliens from my initial reactions. So I waited to get this and instead got NBA 07 (major mistake and please do not buy this awful game). I have a major issue with that game simply because it should have had MORE than the ps2 version and not LESS. (I love sports games but frankly they need to add a story mode to them because they are quickly getting old. So after my biggest mistake I picked up resistance and I truly love this game. Yes it also fits into my movie experience (pattern here if you see it) with a ton of action, sometimes a bit to much, but it makes me totally take back that COD2 comment because they have nothing on each other. All out fun and it shows what the future of the ps3 will be (much like GRAW did for the 360).

Finally

Gears of War. This is without a doubt the best game I have played all year. The story was good; yes I have heard all of the complaints about a lack of story however, remember and good sequel will always leave elements out so that you will go see (or play) the next one. Gears win as far as graphics is concerned and by fan one of the best games I have played. Yes gears deserve the Game of the Year Title and now all upcoming games of its type will be judge according to it.

The future looks great for 2007 and I’ll hit the best looking games for it in another blog. Though I’ll tell you, expectations are very high.
