Second Guessed Myself
Posted by Scott at 11:08 PM on April 14th 2009
Oh, another real post? just after I posted that POS yesterday? YES. I have some things on my mind that I kind of feel like putting out there. So, here we go:
Hey everyone, How are you doing? (literally answer this question if you want, lol. I don't have too much time to do blog catching up
)Things with me have been going really well, school, life, fitness, women
. OK maybe the last one isn't the best it could be but what is great is (to those who still care or actually believe in what im doing) the book is going well, along with preperation for the actual stie. The site will be getting an overhaul from that crap i posted a while back, and will not be posted until it is COMPLETELY READY. Character bios (which is what I'mn working on as I type this), documents, theory, general outlines, etc. Also my art style has drastically improved. I don't mean to brag or anything, but it's a noticable difference. maybe I'll be able to post some things I've done soon, but it's not my priority right now.Generally, everything I've just said means one thing: I am back in the Book Work swing of things! I've got my motivation back, my skilled hand back, but more importantly there is something just driving me right now...I'm not exactly sure what it is, but **** it! haha. It has taken since early fall of last year, from back when my friend broke into my house over the summer to end my work-aholic streak and drag me to the beach. In retrospect it wasn't a horrible thing...but what an ***. haha nah I love the kid, he's a great friend and i miss him since I moved...
Anywho enough on that, for now. As usual I've been watching a lot of anime as I do my work...that and the fact that I refuse to pay for standard cable until I move in with my friends after the summer ends. Recently I watched Zoids Chaotic Century, Zoids New Century Zero, and Zoids Genesis. I've also watched naruto...all of it...I'm a naruto head now. Out side of anime I've watched Reboot and beast wars. For those of you interested in knowing how well what was:
Zoids Chaotic Century: Great, I recommend it.
Zoids New Century Zero: The Best in the Series, Incredible Sound Track. Watch this Show.
Zoids Genesis: Eh...watch this at your own discression...
Reboot: Great, better than what I remember from 6 years ago
Beast Wars: Lol exactly what I remember from like 10 years ago. Awful in such a GREAT way.
Until next time friends take care!
-SD
P.S.-...um, I'm 100% sure I was level 20 before I went on that hiatus...

Ok, so I haven't posted for two weeks, but I can still continue to try getting into a swing of things. To put it plainly life in this new city o' mine is busy. Still, like I said ^, I'm going to continue to try.
Anyways, not much to say right now, pirates continue to raid ships on the other side of the wrold which has been interesting me greatly. I wouldn't say I know enough to write a blog on.
The new chronicles of Riddick game was recently relased, and it appears to be a huge dissappointment after the gem that was butcher bay...
Hope to post again soon, take care all...

Hello all...
So first off, I am looking to make as much of a return as possible right now. My intent is to post on here on set days of the week, 2 to 3 times a week, to get a feel for posting on a site on a regular basis (like the one that will hopefully be out in the summer). I intend to get a feel for it as if it's a task I must preform, blah blah blah yada yada. Basically I'm going to be posting opinions on events around the world or in gaming to get in the swing of a feeling of a task i must preform. You can read if you like, and comments and criticisms are welcomed. I don't know if I'll be able to find time to return to reading others blogs, I will try (of course) but time is a factor going into a new quarter at school. So, hopefully this works in favor of the latter.
Hey everyone, good to be back (sorta). Here goes, News Post 1, March 26, 2009. Posted by Scott at 3:13AM
So, obviously it was hard for me to ignore the buzz over the service of OnLive that was presented at this year's GDC and that's what I'm here to talk about now. I've read some decent articles and opinions on the 'device' (i wouldn't necessarily refer to it as a console or platform yet) and two of my preferred come from, the obvious, CNET (new window) and from CAD's Timm Buckley. Now, unexpectedly, i like the opinions of Timm more than I did any other article, because they help to power the arguments FOR OnLive.
He mentioned that the Big 3 simply won't roll over and die with the arrival of OnLive or other companies like it (OTOY mentioned in GS article). "I can't see Microsoft simply saying "Sure, don't buy our conssole, we don't want the revenue from XBL, anyway!" I agree that won't happen, but this could be the segway into the elimination of large, overpriced consoles, purchased and brought into our homes; Timm mentioned this as well.
The "idea" of OnLive, does not lead to the end of other consoles and gaming competition in some kind of gaming toltalitarian state. Instead it lands us exactly where we are today, with fanboys continuing to fret over which 'device' they're favorite games will land on. Competition won't be eliminated, but will most likely stay the same with the Big 3 adapting to the change. But why should it change?
Many don't like the idea of losing the physical tangible game disc, cartridge, gamecase, etc. to a digital download, yet everything is already on it's way there. This simple fact also downplays the idea of devs keeping loyalties toward Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, to maintain a need for the consoles as well. It's easier for devs simply to produce game data, not having to worry about disc compressions and space limitations, and it's cheaper because they don't have to pay for the ****** discs and plastic it goes in. Yet, why would they do this if gamers/consumers still want the discs and boxes? It's because they don't care what gamers want. There is an untapped market that is ripe for the taking and that is what OnLive wants, and eventually Sony and Microsoft will want it as well.
Nintendo is the one who proved all of the above. As Timm stated: "Nintendo ****'s money and they've had an explosive case of diarrhea for the last few years". Nintendo is doing this because they did what all businesses' goal is, to find new markets, and make a profit off of them. They did it and they did it cheap and they did it right, but, what Nintendo failed is keep their prior market, the hardcore gamers. A big reason that that happened is due to the Wii being underpowered and big name devs wanted to see the full potential out of their dreams, so they went to Sony and MS. Yet, as we've seen from this generation thus far, devs don't care about loyalties anymore, which is natural for a business, since the greater profit lies in more markets. So, OnLive is going to do all of this.
It can take everything that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are doing right, make up for what they're doing wrong, and do it cheap. Why is cheap so important? It's because that is where the untapped market lies. Those who can't afford these high end consoles and expensive gaming prices, are the untapped market and they are large.
There is a lot of speculation as to how much this 'device' will cost. There's a simple answer: take the price of a PS3 of 360 controller (because they are high end) and add that to a cheap modem. Because that is probably what you will be buying, a controller and a cheap modem, and those on average are $60(US) for a controller and between $40-70(US) for a modem; that's ~$130 at most by my estimates. Though I could be wrong, I doubt I am.
The real question that determines if this 'idea' will sell through OnLive or not is how much they charge for the SERVICE. If the untapped market is anything like me, they will not want to pay the same price for internet as they are paying now, which is around $50/month for high quality internet. My guess is that, if it's anything over $35/month it won't fly like it could; but that is only with OnLive.
-SD
EDIT: Oh, and the argument for the technology for low latency HD streaming not being available is a load of garbage. It exists and it's existed for years. Want an answer? WoW. ...think about it...
and i haven't watched the keynote yet, either. Though, I doubt much of what I've said will change after I've seen it...
EDIT2: Just finished the key note...I can only think of few arguments against OnLive that hold, but I can't stop thinking of arguments for it...there is so much REAL potential...

^Catchy title isn't it?...NOT...
First order of business, an inactive home page of my website has been posted! LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF IT! Any criticisms or compliments are accepted!
I began construction of the site about 3 months ago and what you see on the site is pretty much the end result. Supposedly from here on out, it's 'smooth sailing' but I con't really believe that...at all.
Anyway, on to the title of this blog; while I was working the site the other day I was watching FMA. Honestly, I couln't help but relate this ridiculous work on the site to Ed and Al's journey. Whenever i get close to accomplishing the d*** thing there is always an obstacle the rises up to prevent me from attaining my goal. With that said, I recently recieved a shot of realism in my life, and it's that I'm one busy mother f*****!
Not long ago I was informed that I can make it into my college of choice with ease, so I've been working on filing transcripts and getting ready to apply which in turn will make me extremely busy. I'll have to find a new appartment and a new job; all on top of working, work on the site and school. With all this in mind I think I've set myself the most realistic goals thus far, HA! I've decided to shoot for having the site operational by the end of December, which would be right as i'm moving and transferring to my new school. Then I would place the launch date of book 1 to the end of summer 2009 [9/19/09??? heh heh].
Anyways, that's where things stand for now; as I said in one of my previous blogs, I will return to blogging once i'm satisfied with the sites working order, and with my return I'll bring plenty of content and teasers on the book for you guys to oggle, criticize, or just ignore.
It was great hearing from you guys again in my last blog, and I hope you guys haven't lost faith in me. I'll come back one day, I swear it.
EDIT: Just a quick note, the site will more than likely be down in two to three days, I noticed something about the home page that has to be changed, and hopefully ill be making my first link...

Post Script- feel free to PM if you lost the sites URL...

I figured I would post another update blog to let you guys know what the **** is up...
So, first and foremost, it was good hearing from you guys in my last blog, thanks for the comments, and as usual thanks for the support...
Getting down to business, my life is busy. I find that it is near impossible for me to say "I'm Bored" anymore. What with school work, work on the site and book, and other items that need to be taken care of I (obviously) find little time to attend on this site and others; which is why I haven't been around.
Site construction is going well though, and I'm not rushing it which is key. When I half-a** things, is when I get pissed off and refuse to follow through with them...anywho, all that aside, I'll probably have an inactive home page up between weeks end and next week. So those of you I gave the domain name to, look forward to it i guess?
The Force Unleashed comes out tomorrow, and though I won't be buying it this week, I am well aware that it will be providing one incredible distraction in the near future...
Anywho, honestly I overestimated my own abilities to accomplish these tasks and underestimated the mountain that would have to be climbed in doing this...whatever, things are still going well and when the site is complete it will be much smoother sailing and I shoud be going viral on these sites again...i hope hahaha...
Talk to you guys soon...

As the title says, I'm not dead yet! hahaha
I've been away for sometime and much more time than I intended. However I haven't been goofing off as much as I'd like to say I am...this past week and a half I ended my summer vacation, which was a great time, and got back to work. This is not a full return though (as I said, I would delete the blog posted below and have many goodies to post when I return). So as of right now, I'm not really back, and I probably won't be completely back til the end of the month...
I feel like I'm rambling

Anywho, site construction is going better with less and less bumps, but it will still take some time and many changes are being made.
That's about it for now...gotta get back to work! Guess I'll post more later...

Honestly, I'm sick of all this ********...I've been putting up with it for so long, and there gets to be a point where it's too much. All too often lately I feel like I'm being ****** by everything and it's mother; not just people either. It's everything and I'm just sick of it. I'm sorry to all of you, who I've had waiting so patiently, thank you so much, but if I don't take a break from this work I'm either going to break my computer, or just go nuts...Unfortunately it's not just stupid software either, it's people and the things they do...
I'm not going into any detail on any of this, the sooner i let all of this go, the better. I don't need any words of encouragement, or anything like that, I'm just really really ****** pissed right now and need to just let my head clear for awhile. I can only find this crap funny for so long...Once again, I appologize to all of you who were waiting patiently but I need a break; from work, from work on the book, from people, from life. I'm just too pissed to think straight. When I return, which I have no clue when that will be, i will have loads of stuff if you guys are still interested, but until then, it's just too much and i need some time to actually say I relaxed this summer...
You might find me floating around the forums on here or commenting on blogs, maybe even throwing up a game blog or two, whatever. I probably will dwell on Giantbomb too...

Post Script- This blog will be deleted whenever i return to normal business...
Secondary Post Script- Worthy, if your gathering the troop on saturday Im game...
EDIT: For anyone keeping watch over my blog, I'm still alive, and ill be returning in due time...theres just some things that need to be taken care of first...

*pause for laughter*
Ok, so with that, you all know what this means...thats right! There is no delay, to the six (I'm pretty sure it was six...i didn't take the time to count...) I'm going to have the release for you guys, but have to delay the rest of it for the public. I'll have the site ready by then and the teaser will just be in black and white...but it's better than nothing right?

or Join it....then probably fall to a fatal death accompanied by what I could assume would be a rather large explotion...but who knows

So, moving to giant bomb from here sounds rather pointless...but to have both accounts, for more PR it sounds awesome! especially since they have a comic book counter part! So I'm JOINING this bomb that is rather large and you can add me as a friend under chaos_SD

Bleh, sometimes it hurts when I see so much of this...
I decided to go over the lists just to see how other creators do...and...Ouch. Sometimes I forget how many people do this, and I'm reminded how tough it will be to just plain enter into this field...
Whats more is, seeing so many hits on the top comics; especially the one that just crushed my soul. It's rough, and it has me thinking "how the hell am I going to do this?!" I know my art s-t-y-l-e [gamespot! stop censoring this!!!] isn't as great, or original as some of these, and that drives the nail in harder... it's possible that the only thing that I'll be really differentiating myself with (I hope) is the depth or everything. I like to think that I'm putting more depth into my plot and action sequences than others will be; yet, who knows? It's kind of hard to look at all of those comics thoroughly...
Guess the only thing I can do, is hope and continue these pre-date PR tactics here (and maybe start some elsewhere). I guess I can take to heart the fact that I'm pushing to have things ready before everyone else. It's obvious that those that update frequently are very successful and popular...but still...
UPDATE FOR NEW USERS [and those that just wanna catch up]
Hi, I'm Scott Deisner!
I'm currently working on an online graphic novel that I hope to launch soon [maybe by the end of september]. It's going to be seven books in total and each book will probably contain somewhere between 25 to 30+ chapters. You can view a couple teaser images in my images tab here on Gamespot. I plan on differentiating myself as an online comic creator by having massive, intense, off the wall action sequences, by trying to have a proper balance between drama action and humor, having a great deal of depth within my plot, and most importantly: UPDATING ON TIME AND 2 TO 3 TIMES A WEEK. What is coming up next week is what will probably be the biggest reveal about my book series, a four page teaser [that I refer to as an action strip], and something else...
Feel free to view the first time I revealed info about my book in these guest blogs by Thomas-Crown and theycallmeryan:
Thanks, and hope you guys enjoy reading my blog!

Two Points to Cover:
1. Update on Site Construction and the Date in which The Big Day is...
2. Something to Admit...
Here Goes:
Alright, site construction is going better and I can see only one forsee-able migraine left in my future with this [but who knows]. I expect to have an inactive mock up ready by monday! This will pave the way for everything to be ready for "THE BIG DAY" on the 26th. BLOGGERS BE READY, you know who you are!
Now, the second part is that I owe all of you an appology. I have come to realize recently that I severely overestimated my own abilities and underestimated the difficulty of everything I am doing, so i'd like to appologize to all of you for all the delays. Thank you for all of the support all of you have given me; expect more accurate information on everything I do from here on out...
-SD
Post Script- That reminds me...I'll be posting an update as to what exactly is going on within my blog so no one is lost...

To those of you wondering how the progress is coming with site construction; I will use this blog to keep you informed.
7/16: Html is still the devil!
but I'm starting to understand dreamweaver, and it IS starting to help. The biggest issue for me, thus far, is creating links and the content that follow from those links...When i get into that stuff, i see many sever migranes and possible brain hemoraging in my future
I'll keep you posted!

Yeah, I said I'd be away for awhile...but this is honestly ridiculous, NOW PAY ATTENTION!
FIRST NOTE: I am not targeting anyone in particular. If you take offense to anything I say hear, I'm sorry, but deal with it. i'm doing this because I feel like people forget a few things every now and then, so i like to give a little reminder...I do care about your opinions, so please let me know what you think...
SECOND NOTE: I'm pulling a Symph, if you don't know what that means, there will be little things here and there that will be indicated to be marked within your comment if youll be leaving one. If you do not follow through in leaving these I will ignore your comment...sorry...
So, let's begin. If you somehow havent' heard the news: FFXIII has gone multiplatform; now my general opinion on this is whoop-f******-dee. In fact I'm glad that more people will be able to enjoy the game. I love the final fantasy series, and I could say i own a PS3 to play the game, but I still don't care. I've been working in retail for 5 years now (not in a f****** game store), I communicate with lots of people who play games on a regular basis (in and out of work), and know a well rounded deal about all systems myself. I'm not trying to say I know everything, but here are a few simple LOGICAL reminders:
Fanboys (all of them, whether they be for Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, or whoever else will come and go), almost all of them, use improper Logic. I know this because I used to be a fanboy, and I am a Philosophy Major that has been studying for two years [this means I am going for a degree in philosophy, which means I am also a Logic Major]. Once you understand logic, you can understand why almost all arguements by fanboys fail. [I believe Logic should be taught at a Highschool level, spell any one word backwords in your comment]
Fanboys constitute AT MOST 25% of consumers who purchase games, and not all fanboys dwell within internet forums. This means less than 25% of all those opinions you saw today or yesterday, barely make up a fraction of those numbers that seem to matter so much...
30% of the gaming market consists of "gamers" that use the 'inter-web'. That's right, most gamers who choose to use the internet ARE fanboys. Their ages normally fall somewhere between 15-20, their opinions are mostly biased and usually completely devoid of LOGIC.
SONY IS GOING TO BE AROUND FOR A VERY LONG, LONG, LONGLONGLONG (PUT LONG IN YOUR COMMENT!) TIME! Why? That's because they are one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world. Last time I checked, they were Number 6 within the world. Microsoft does not even make it into the the TOP TEN! I know this, because I am also a digital communications major of two years as well (also known as telecommunications).
Sony, as they have proven over time will stand behind their product even if it's selling like a loaf of bread made of horses a**! Want some proof? The PSP sales were God awful, but due to recent support and updates for the product sales have jumped through the roof, just do a google search on PSP sales stats. Sony could have dropped support for this product a long time ago, but they did not...
End statements
Why are we hearing such rubish like: Sony is going to fail, and This is the End of the PS3? It's because fanboys have nothing to do with their lives! and here's the kicker, their opinions, don't matter! so just ignore them. Their opinions don't matter to Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and they probably don't even matter to their own mothers; their opinions barely make up any part of hardware or software sales. The opinions that should matter are yours, my readers. I refer to you because I've read your blogs, for all of you, more often than not, you guys have respectable opinions, otherwise I wouldn't be tracking you [i don't just track people to up my friend count, I'll gladly untrack anyone whos opinion is just ridiculous]. Sony is not going anywhere, and this issue with FFXIII will more than likely barely effect them; because they know, as well as I do that consumers just WANT the PS3. More and more devs who were supposedly 'on one side' are going multiplatform and there are barely any exclusives left on the Microsoft, or PS3 side. Yet it doesn't matter, because consumers are not buying the product for specific games more often then not. They buy the products because they prefer one brand over the other, they had a preferred experience with one over the other, OR they plan on buying both because they are not fanboys and they don't need an attatchment to one or the other just like me!!!! Sony...is not...STUPID! They have been doing this for years, and much longer than Microsoft. There is no need to wonder what they are thinking, and no need to insult them for not doing anything about it, because the only one who looks foolish or ignorant is the one making the statement. Sony is composed of some of the greatest CEO minds in the world, they know what theyre doing and don't worry about it. If they choose to ever leave the gaming industry [which is unlikely], that sucks, but they know what they are doing, because they are more often than not smarter than all of us...put an asterisk in your comment...
-SD
EDIT: by the way, WHAT THE **** is this loyalty garbage I keep hearing about!!!! PEOPLE! these are businesses! Their job is to make MONEY! If they did anything else everyone who works within them should be fired! The only reason companies kept games exclusive, EVER, was because they felt their game would not make sufficeint profit on another system! *GRR*

Oh...my freakin...God...It finally posted!!! After about 4 days of trying to post the ******* image, it finally worked!
Alright, so this is Metal Geezers Solid; when I originally thought it up I thought it was hilarious...I hope you guys find it funny too. Note, that I didn't take the time for coloring or high quality editing, in turn its basically still a pencil scetch, just penned over. Ill take the time to color it, shade it, edit colors, drop backgrounds, and more when I choose to open up a funnies section on the site...[the speech bubbles also turned out rather small, but theres nothing I can do about that right now since GS compresses pics further...]
As for work on the site...well, I'm pretty convinced that HTML, XHTML, Javascript, Adobe Dream Weaver, all other website editors, and the internet, were all created by the Devil; and they are just tools to make our brains try to flee from our bodies in an attempt to kill us...but thats neither here nor there I GUESS .
Long Story Short: IM GOING AWAY FOR AWHILE
Even though I'm starting to get the hang of DreamWeaver, it's still really rough, so I'm taking this week to do nothing but learn web editing, and even if I don't have a website up by the end of the week, Ill have a rough mockup site created so I can have a release for teaser 3 pt1 and the site and all the other crap, for the beginning of next week...
...I think thats about it...(expect Edits)
