No point hanging around, the reviews are bought, I can no longer trust this site. I liked Jeff, a lot, but the reason im leaving is that gamespot is corrupt. Too bad, I really really liked this site, i came here for just about everything related to games. No make that everything. Don't bother posting, any reply to this blog entry, i will not log in to check. If you are searching for me, you can find me at "rageaholik666@hotmail.com". Well that's it... Killing npc's, are we racists?
Killing npc's, are we racists?
Are we? To start of explaining this very disturbing trail of thought i will begin by explaining the why.
The npcs we meet and greet around every day are getting smarter and smarter, they don't look particularly real but real enough for us to know they are meant to be human.
So if we where to theoretically meet one of these people in real life it would be like meeting a really funny looking retard (that don't have feelings and repeat sentences one to many times). Most of ous (exclude me) would not even entertain the thought of how the retards ragdoll effect look like if blown away with a shotgun.
Then why would we not think twice about pulling the trigger if it was a game? Is it because they in reality are nothing but 1 and 0? If you said yes here, you are a racist.

W hy you might ask, because you just said they are less than ous because they are made out of different compartment, if we where to meet a space-faring race made of 1 and 0 would you want to murder them too? We don't kill people because they look different on the outside why should we kill them when they are different on the inside?
Most people would say not murder aliens made out of 1 and 0s (including me), they are not worth less because they are made of 1 and 0. I still think they are worth less but for different reasons that i will not post here because then you would focus on that instead of the real meaning of the post.
Scientists are currently working on bringing a human brain to pc, entirely made out of 1 and 0 so that they can see how different parts interact with each other. Now if we were to use this brain in a videogame for AI, would it be wrong to kill the AI in that case?
Imagine a game with killer graphics and real human AI, the npcs would cry when we killed their friends, they would get hurt and feel pain when we shoot them (pain is electric signals sent from the brain to tell you that something is wrong). They would feel exactly what you and me feel when we get banged in the head by a crowbar.

But when does right become wrong? Is it okey to kill retarded creatures made out of 1 and 0's. Is it okey to kill sentient beings made out of 1 and 0s?
It was only a couple of years ago that blacks were considered animals by the whites in the USA, and the Jewish were hunted down in Germany. The only Difference between a retard and a computer AI is that one is made of flesh.
Are we the blood and bones of our body or the gushy grey inwards of our skull? Why do we hunt people made out of 1 and 0s!? Are we murderers? For that matter why do we not feel guilty when we eat animals? Why don't we have nightmares when we eat vegetables? Is it because vegetables cannot scream or move and animals are simply lesser by default?
Conclusion
We are no better than our ancestors, a new Hitler jugend in a rage against the machine. But then again im not made out of 1 and 0s and im not a animal or a plant. So as long as we are killing things other than me, happy hunting!

The gaming generation. Bloodlust?
The gaming generation. Bloodlust?
This is a blogg about my views on certain matters, I do not represent the gaming community in general.
Now that i got that out of the way, i am a gamer, a pc gamer. I have recently noticed that my views on certain things are skewed.
Example, i read in the news paper that seven people die every year by their own lawnmowers in Sweden. This i thought was extremely funny, and i told it once to my friend who is a gamer, once to my parents and once to a couple of female friends. Only on one occasion did it result in laughter.
Things like this happen to me at a regular basis, if i see funny "kills" in the news paper i laugh, my gamer friends (girl gamers too) but no one else. Or when i stumble upon the occational accident video on Youtube, were stupid people get hurt because they do obviously stupid things, it's the same there (i love the ragdoll effect in rl).
Another thing iv 'e noticed is that my gamer friends are less likely to turn away from blood, most of them are also pro-death sentence. Oh, and when ignorant people say clearly idiotic things such as "The cold war. Wasn't that when all those horses froze to death" we sometimes scream at them.
Is it just me and my friends that think like this because of our group atmosphere?
Are my other friends and my parents just lamos, because they think like carebears?
Or is this phenomenon applicable on the gamer society as a whole?
Would you be able to aim a gun and fire it in rl, push the big red button that says "launch", or act normaly during a time of crisis?
Maybe not but you would be lying if you say that you have not thought about it.
