The big 3 E3 conferences in small blurbs

    Microsoft Conference (4/10):

I thought the Microsoft conference was pretty bad. Most of the games they showed were not even exclusives (RE5, Fallout 3, FFXIII). But the new Live/Arcade stuff looks pretty cool (Portal, South Park, Geometry Wars 2) Also much of the stuff is "copied" from Nintendo, and Sony, like the avatars, but Microsoft is the king of copy, and the copies are usually better than the originals (cough...Windows, Zune cough...). The Gears of War 2 stuff was pretty cool, but that was about it.

    Nintendo Conference (6/10):

Nintendo's press conference was pretty good, especially if you are the casual gamer. Casual gamers rejoice with Wii Sports Resort, Wii Music and Animal Crossing. Very smart move by Nintendo. If you are a hardcore Nintendo gamer, you would probably be extremely pissed right now. No new Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and Star Fox game announced yet. But the Wii, in my opinion, is not a hardcore console, it is a casual gaming console. Also not much DS stuff, other than GTA. I'm sure Nintendo's got something for us hardcore gamers soon.

    Sony's Conference (8/10):

Sony's press conference, in my opinion, was the best of the big three in E3. There were games that appealed to the casual gamer (LittleBigPlanet), and many games that appealed to hardcore gamers (God of War III, MAG, Resistance 2). I pretty excited about MAG, a 256-player multiplayer shooter. Also, there were a few PSP new games announced including Resistance, Midnight Club, Loco Roco, and Patapon. I think Sony is about to make a comeback.

    OMFG!! StarCraft II announced!

My dream came true. The sequel to my favourite game ever has been announced. More than 9 years since the release of the original StarCraft. I thought the Blizzard's first trailer was kinda long for what it is, but I really liked Tychus Findlay's (the marine) last line, "Hell. It's about damn time." I haven't seen the gameplay videos yet, but I saw the images. Look almost identical to the original UI, and units. It just has a graphical boost. Blizzard is only featuring the Protoss. There are several new units for the Protoss, including

    1. the Immortal (able to activate a shield, seems very effective against siege tanks)
    2. the Stalker (quick unit, that could "lunge" forward very quickly)
    3. the Phase Prism (warps units from Gateway/Warp Gate to the Phase Prism, also could replace the Pylon power)
    4. the War Prey (big air unit that increases in damages the longer it attacks)
    5. the Mothership (build one only at a time, could create black holes, could shoot a timebomb, that surrounds the ships stoping missiles from attacking it, an ability to destroy anything under it)
    6. the Colossus (fires 2 lasers, 2 of them obliterated ~50 zerglings in the video)
    7. the Phoenix (fires lasers, ability to overcharge (similar to the stim pack) to fire multiple lasers, but makes it immobile for a few seconds).

The Terran have only 1 new unit, the Reaper, that have jetpacks to jump around uneven surfaces on the battlefield. The Zerg doesn't any new units, but the Zerglings could transform into suicide bombs that could obliterate an army.

The graphics look awesome. It's very colourful, and flashy, unlike the original. The game might incorporate DirectX 10. According to Blizzard, Battle.net is going to have a revamp. They aren't getting into details yet. I really like the UI. I looks just like the original. You could also select an infinite amount of units of a time, making huge rushes easier. I just hope the game comes with their signature campaign editor. The game was also in development since the release of Warcraft III in 2003.

StarCraft II looks very good, and it is from Blizzard, so it will be good. Blizzard hasen't dissapointed me yet. Blizzard might take some time to release a game, but that time will turn into quality. Blizzard promises that it will be fun, balanced, polished, and true to the original before they will release the game. May 19th, 2007 will go down as one of the greatest days in gaming history.
